Hello @hegard,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing a print quality issue when printing  a flyer from your computer to your HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this print quality issue. To start troubleshooting I am going to have you print a standalone Print Quality Report from your printer. This will help us to determine if your printing issue is being caused by your printer or by a setting conflict on your computer. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
How to print Quality Report:
Load clean, white U.S. Letter or A4 paper in the input tray, if necessary.
Touch and hold the Power button (), and then press the Cancel button ().
Let go of the Cancel button and then the Power button. The test page prints.
Check the estimated ink level graphics on the test page.
(1) Example of estimated ink levels with more ink
(2) Example of estimated ink levels with less ink
If this report prints perfectly: than the print quality issue that you're experiencing is not being caused by your printer. Rather, there may be a setting conflict occuring under the program that you're printing from. Before I am able to provide you with accurate support to resolve any conflicts on your computer I do need to know what Operating System you're using.
If this report prints with quality issues: Than the issue that you're experiencing is being caused by your printer. To resolve this issue please click here. Once the support document opens please run through the steps to resolve this issue. Once troubleshooting is complete please test printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of printing the Quality Report. Should the printing conflict still occur be sure to include your Operating System in your response. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • HP Envy 5530 & Windows 8.1 : Does not print the whole document

    Hello, I cannot seem to print an entire document longer than 3 pages with the HP Envy series & Windows 8.1 from any of my programs.  It will stop after a handful of pages (randomized with which page it stops at), with a simple error message, "Could not print document."  This goes for double sided as well as single sided pages.  It doesn't matter if it is color or b/w.  I first had the Envy 4500 and did everything I could to fix the issue.  I uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers using both CD and online installers and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which could not find any issues.  The Network Configuration page & Test print pages were also fine.  I tried printing immediately & printing once everything has spooled.  Nothing worked. I finally gave up and upgraded to the 5530 in hopes that it was an incompatible driver.  However, I am still having the same issues, despite the "all clear" from the Print & Scan Doctor.  Please help!-ebdsnyder

    Hi there, The only thing I can recommend at the moment would be to setup another instance of the network printer. Firstly I would recommnd setting up the printer with a Fixed IP address as if the IP address were to change later the printer would stop working. Then go into the Control Panel (use Windows Key and X and choose Control Panel from the menu that appears) and choose Devices and Printers. Click in the printers area and choose Add Printer. When the next screen comes up the computer, the system will search the local network and display any printers that are found on the network.  Choose the Envy 5530 and click next The computer will then add a network port and ask you to choose the driver. Choose use driver that is currently installed. The computer will then ask you to Name the printer, choose a descriptive name that will help you identify it later. The computer will then ask you if you want to share the printer, I would recommnd not sharing it for now. The computer will then ask if you want to set this as the default printer, this choice is up to you. Click print a test page to check that the printer works and then click finish. After this you will have an extra printer icon for your device.  I would recommend going into the Printer Properties on this new device and change the printer driver to the one that does not have the words Class driver after it (The Class driver is a cut down in OS version of the complete driver). This can be done from the Printer Properties advanced tab. I hope this all makes sense. Good luck and if you have any question please post them back here and I will try and help you out.

  • Why is my printer not printing the whole photo as shown in preview?

    When I set up a photo for printing, it looks good to go in 8x10 format,but when I hit "print" about an inch or so of the final product isn't printed and there's plenty of blank paper left..ie image size and resolution are correct, at least according to the edit tools. Doing fine with 5x7's though and last night got one 8x10 to print properly.

    Have you installed the driver from the link I posted? Have you set up the printer from System Preferences>Print & Scan selecting your printer? There is a symbol next to your printer which would indicate not.
    You do not indicate what OS is running on your MBP.

  • When in pages, the document does not print the whole page

    When I go to print a document that I have in written in Pages, only a third of each page prints???  How do I fix this?

    Set the Adobe PDF printer as your printer in Excel and then go through and set the print area. Excel is like WORD in that it will reflow the document to match the printer. When you print to PDF (or use PDF Maker), it will reflow first - giving the type of result you are seeing. In fact that is one issue that many OFFICE users miss. They assume that an OFFICE document can be sent out for viewing and printing by others with no problem, but many times folks have problems because they have a different printer. That is a good reason to distribute PDFs instead. Our university has several forms in WORD format that have this problem. It would be nice if they would put them into PDF format.

  • I am trying to print a pdf document from an electronic journal at my school, and i can only get it to print what is on the screen at the time i hit print.  How do i get it to print the whole document?

    how do i get it to print the whole article?  i don't seem to have a problem printing from my old windows laptop

    melbaby_3 wrote:
    when I clicked on your link and hit print, all pages were there!
    That suggests there's no problem with Safari or Quartz, the PDF rendering engine used by Safari, Preview, and other Mac applications.
    When I'm in the database and have the article open that I want to print, I click on the "full text in pdf" link and it opens in another safari window.
    Does the PDF in this other Safari window have all the pages? If yes, why don't you print from this window?
    It's very difficult to tell what might be going on if you don't give very specific details.
    For instance, in many reference databases, full-text articles are not free. You have to pay to view them, either article by article, or by subscription. Your school may have such a subscription, but, if it does, you probably need to access the database through the portal, web site, or facility provided by your school (your school's librarian should be able to help you with that). If you don't, the database has no way of knowing you have a right to view the full text, and may give you just a preview or the article's first page.
    Another possibility is that the database provides full-text PDFs in a format not compatible with Quartz, which may be able to render only the first page. But, in such a case, I'd expect Safari to print blank pages. If that's the case, you need to save the PDF on your hard disk and open it with Adobe Reader (Preview wouldn't work).
    There are other possibilities, but these two seem to me the most likely.
    Would I have to save it in preview first
    You should save the PDF on your hard disk from Safari. (I think you should do this anyway, just in case you need to refer to the article again later.) Instead of just clicking the  "'full text in pdf' link", press and hold Control, then click. This should give you a contextual menu; if the link points to a PDF file, you should see the commans "Save Linked File to 'Downloads'" and "Save Linked File As…". Use either, save the file, then, in Finder, double-click on it. Preview should open it.
    It is possible that the link is not to a PDF file, but to a script which fetches that PDF file for you. In that case, it's pointless to download it. Click on it, and then, if the PDF viewing window opens in Safari, move the cursor towards the centre of the bottom of the window. A bar with commands should appear; one of them will download the file to your Downloads folder.

  • How to print the whole JFrame

    Hi,
    I got this code somewhere from the net.
    import java.awt.*;

    import java.awt.print.*;
    /** A simple utility class that lets you very simply print
    *  an arbitrary component. Just pass the component to the

    *  implement any interface or do anything special at all.
    *  <P>
    *  If you are going to be printing many times, it is marginally more
    *  efficient to first do the following:
    *  <PRE>
    *    PrintUtilities printHelper = new PrintUtilities(theComponent);
    *  </PRE>
    *  then later do printHelper.print(). But this is a very tiny
    *  difference, so in most cases just do the simpler
    *  PrintUtilities.printComponent(componentToBePrinted).

          return(PAGE_EXISTS);
      }Hi all,
    Alright I managed to scale it to print the whole JFrame. But another problem surfaces. When I select draft quality printing, it doesn't print the whole JFrame. Other printing qualities (standard, high) do print the whole JFrame. I am really puzzled. Anyone has any clue?
    And I have an unrelated question to this topic. How do I set a JTextField so that when I click on it the first time, it highlights its content? Have to work around with the mouselistener?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the print function of IE8 doesnot print the whole content of SharePoint list item.
    For troubleshooting your issue, please turn off Protection Mode for the IE8.

    Hi
    I need to display the html content from the database. The html content are quite long and can have content of 3-5 pages. Issue I  am facing is f the record has html content of 3-5 pages, then it does not print the page header (which is a separate tablix) on

    Nikesh Shah

    Hi Nikesh,
    According to your description, I’m not sure the meaning of Page header in your scenario. In Reporting Services, a page header that run along the top of each page, respectively. Headers can contain static text, images, lines, rectangles, borders, background
    color, background images, and expressions. But we couldn’t add tablix in the page header.
    If you are saying report header, a report header consists of the report items that are placed at the top of the report body on the report design surface. They appear only once as the first content in the report. So it cannot repeat in other pages.
    If you are saying tablix header, freezing column headers are different in table and matrix. For more details, please refer to the following thread:

    If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.

  • My printer will not print the web pages using firefox...how do I set it up to print a web page?

    I have an hp photosmart c4180 printer and it will not print the web pages in firefox...how exactly do I set up FF so I can print web pages? I will need step by step instruction also on exactly where to go to set it up.

    Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock), then open Print & Scan
    Click the + button at the bottom of the printer list
    If your printer appears....not all printers are supported....click on the name to highlight it
    Click the Add button to install the printer at the AirPort Express location
    Try to print. You must choose the correct printer at the AirPort Express location since the printer is "installed" at other locations on your network.
    If you open Print & Scan again, and select the printer at the AirPort Express, there is an option to make the printer the "default" location, so you do not have to choose which location to select when you want to print.
