2nd email address for website?

After creating a website with iWeb (published through 60 day trial with .Mac), I've been advised that I may not want to use my primary email address on the contact page.
I'm currently using the Mac Mail program that came with our iMac (Earthlink is our ISP).
Would the simplist way be to create a second email address within my Mac Mail account? Is there any reason to create a completely new account?
Thanks

You're welcome.
Since it appears your Earthlink email account is your primary account, you can use your primary .Mac email account for your website but regarding .Mac account aliases, the following was copied from .Mac Help:
You can create up to five email aliases to help prevent unwanted messages from being sent to your primary .Mac Mail account or for use with online groups and chat websites. For example, you might want to share your main .Mac Mail address with friends and family only and use email aliases for online registrations, purchasing products, joining mailing lists, and so on. This will help you better manage the email you receive and monitor the sources of unwanted messages. You can even send email using an email alias.
Seems to me it would be simpler to either add an email "alias"
to my Mail (the application that came preloaded on our iMac)
primary account, or create a new account.
As already provided, since your Earthlink email account is your primary account, you can use your .Mac email address for your website or go ahead and create/use an alias for the same but you cannot create another or separate .Mac account. Your existing account is it and you can create up to 5 email aliases at no extra charge. If you want another separate email account, you can purchase an email only account through your primary .Mac account at an extra charge which I believe is only $10/year.
If I understood your reply, I should be able to do either
one of these through the iMac Mail application?
Yes. This following was also copied from .Mac Help:
To set up a .Mac email alias, choose Mail > Preferences and click Accounts. Select your .Mac account and click Account Information. Click Edit Email Aliases to go to the .Mac website. Log into your account. Click Accounts, then click the Add button in the Email Aliases section. Enter a name for the alias and click Create Alias. The alias will then be available in the Account pop-up menu in new message windows.
If the Account pop-up menu doesn't appear in the compose message window, click the Action menu in the lower-left corner of the message header and choose Customize. Select the checkbox next to Account and click OK.
Messages addressed to your .Mac email alias will arrive in your .Mac account inbox.
Do you think creating another account would make me
less vulnerable to spam, than simply adding an "alias" to
my primary account?
It depends on how your email address is used on your website. If you include an Email Me link, you shouldn't be vulnerable to spam but if provided out in the open for anyone to see and for spambots that search the internet for valid email addresses provided out in the open on a website, etc., you will be very vulnerable to spam. But as already provided, if your .Mac email address associated with your .Mac account is not your primary email address and likely won't be, it doesn't matter but this is what email aliases are primarily designed for so I would protect my .Mac email account address in case you decide to make this your primary email address and use an alias instead on your website.
After several moves in a relatively short period of time having to change ISPs and my email address along with it since I formally used my ISP provided email account as my primary address, I now use my .Mac account as my primary email address since when moving and changing ISPs doesn't matter - I can always keep the same email address regardless.

• Adding a 2nd email address for CC

I was told I could use 2 email addresses so 2 employees can access CC. I cannot fnd where to add teh 2nd email address. Help?

Hi Steven,
It sounds like you might have been given some incorrect information on accident. You can currently only use one email address and an individual license is intended for one user on two computers. We are working on a new offer called Creative Cloud Team that will be intended for business and have this kind of functionality. It is due to release later this year.

• What are correct FireFox preference settings so don't have to always provide email address for a certain website?

Ever since upgrading to OS Mountain Lion I have to provide my email address for a particular website if my Mac has been restarted, even though I indicate on the website that I want to stay signed in to the website for two weeks at a time. When I had OS Snow Leopard, at this website I did not have to input my email address more often than every 2 weeks, no matter how often my computer was restarted.
What settings in FireFox preferences should I input so I don't have to input my email address at this website every time my computer is restarted?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

• How do I add an email address for mail?

I want to have different email addresses for different members of my family. Can I and how do i do it?

There are various e-mail services providers like Yahoo, Gmail, Aol, Outlook etc. You can go to their website and create an e-mail account for each of your family member (I recommend Gmail by Google). Once you have created all the accounts, you can add them to the mail app on the mac very easily. So, go and create e-mail accounts for your family members and then in the Mail app click Mail -> Add Account, select your e-mail service provider and follow the instructions on the screen.

When I am looking at a website and go to the "contact us" tab, the blank email that comes up always has an obsolete email address for me (which is in Thunderbird). I have been unable to delete it. How can I fix this so the blank email that comes up defaults to my new email address?

• HT2486 How do I remove the grey "contact" selection highlight? This contact always appears as the email address for the group I want to send to.

How do I remove the grey "contact" selection highlight? This contact always appears as the email address for the address book group I want to send to.

The group is "undisclosed" there are 6 contacts in the group. The contacts are listed in 2nd column entitled "name", one of these contacts remains highlighted or selected in grey. I can't remove the grey selection of the contact. When you select the "undisclosed" group as the "to" address the contact highlighted in grey appears in the email address box. The group name should appear in the email box, but it doesn't. This began to happen after I upgraded to IOS 10.6.8. However I'm not sure that has anything to do with the problem? I do not have "show all member addresses selected." Your help is appreciated.

• Can't change my email address for this forum

I need to change my email address for this suport forum, but can't figure out how to do it. If I go to my profile, I can see it but I can't change it. And it's different from my main Apple ID which is set already set correctly with the email address I want to use.
How do I do this?

After a long couple of sessions with Apple tech support, here's what I've learned (for the benefit of others):
If you have more than one Apple ID like I do, then the original one that you used to sign into these forums is the one you're stuck with.
You can change that original ID's email address and/or password, but you must keep using that "first" set of credentials. If you try to sign in with your newer Apple ID, it won't work, it'll keep prompting you for the old ID, so make sure you write it (and the password) down somewhere.
I made the original mistake of creating a 2nd Apple ID when I closed an old email account a couple of years ago and needed to stop using that old email address. What I should have done, and will apparently have to pay for forever, was to simply change the email address on the 1st Apple ID.
Bottom line from my experience is be sure to only use one Apple ID. If you create another, you'll be stuck with both for all time and have to use one or the other depending on which one you originally used in a particular situation. For example, when I get a new iPhone, I have to use the old Apple ID to download all the apps 2 years old and older, then sign out and back in with the new ID to download all the apps 2 years old or newer. What a pain, but Apple has no way of combining them. The tech rep said to send feedback, which I've already done.

• How do i use existing email address for digital editions

how do i use existing email address for digital editions

Three possibilities.
1) If you already have an up to date Adobe account with associated email, you need to register it with ADE.
menu/Help/Authorize Computer (Library/Authorize Computer on the older more reliable v1.7.2).
2) If you already have an Adobe account/ID and have books that have been bought using it, then you should change the email associated with that account.
Login at the adobe.com website ('sign in' near top right), using the old email the account is currently associated with.
(Doesn't matter if this is no longer valid as an email address, it is still valid to access your Adobe account)
Choose 'My Information' on the 'Welcome' dropdown, enter your new email in the appropriate place, and confirm changes.
You will later need to validate that new email address by clicking on the confirmation email it will send.
Then follow step 1.
If you have an old account and the email is no longer valid and you've forgotten the password, try Adobe Live Chat to get access to the account again.
3) You need to create yourself a brand new account.
Click the 'sign in' and choose 'Dont' have an Adobe ID'.
Once you have established oe, go to step 1

• When I add an email address or website to an email Firefox doesn't highlight it so people can just click on the link

When I'm typing an email to forward to someone and I add an email address or website link Firefox doesn't highlight it so the link can be clicked on by the person I'm sending the email to. This problem doesn't occur when I use Internet explorer to login to my email. It automatically highlights the link so it can be clicked on and re-directed to the email address or website. How can I remedy this?

Just above the text area that you use to enter the message text on the "Compose New Mail page" there is usually a button bar with buttons to add text formatting like Bold and Italic.
That toolbar may also have a button to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).
You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.
If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each (e.g. Insert hyperlink).
• Create a dynamic group by email address (not includes 2nd email address)

I've created a dynamic group from powershell as below, but it also shows the user who's the 2nd email address is @abc.com.
So how can exclude the user has 2nd email address from the group?
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "ACB All Users Dynamic Group" -OrganizationalUnit xyz.lftltd.net/HKG/Groups -RecipientContainer lftltd.net -PrimarySmtpAddress
[email protected] -RecipientFilter {(EmailAddresses -like
'*@abc.com') -and (RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (CustomAttribute9 -ne 'Resigned') -and (Title -ne 'System Mailbox')}
Many thanks.

Hi Timothy,
Besed on my test, to filter the recipients based on the second emailaddresses seems difficult, because there is a limit to the syntax of RecipientFilter, it's hard for me to divide the results of the property emailadresses and filter
the recipient based on the first one.
In addition, to get all the recipients from the dynamic group, please refer to the script below:
$ddg = Get-DynamicDistributionGroup ITUsers
Get-Recipient –RecipientPreviewFilter $ddg.RecipientFilter
And we can usually filter the emailaddress from get-emailbox like this:
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

• How do I add an email address for a family member to my .mac account?

Can I add an email address for my mother to my .mac account? I'd like to set up, manage and pay for an email address for her use. I thought this was possible but can't seem to navigate myself to the place where I can get an additional address.

So, after further reading I assume that I must ad an apple id for my mother. Is this correct? Can I, as the responsible party, control purchases and apps that are added to the device I have provided her? I'm not so worried about what she might do as I am what a grandchild might do without her knowledge.

• Can I create an email address for a family member using my apple ID?

I converted to iCloud from Mobile Me in October before I created email addresses for my kids. Can I create accounts for them in iCloud?

Just go to http://appleid.apple.com and create a new Apple ID for each kid - note that you will need a different associated email address for each ID, and different from your own, but you can use free addresses such as Yahoo.
Then start a new iCloud account for each using the IDs. You will need to have a separate user account on your Mac for each kid (you should be doing this anyway, and they should be non-admin accounts) and then you can enter the ID in System Preferences>iCloud and create a new @me.com address in each case.
Alternatively you could create up to three email aliases on your own account - these are addresses, not accounts, and deliver into your main inbox alonside your mail, so everyone will be able to see everyone else's mail, which may well not be what you want.
