3-year warranty for UK Higher education for free

I found links associated with the free 3-year warranty for UK Higher education.
_http://apple.procureweb.ac.uk/index.htm_
_http://store.apple.com/Catalog/ukinst/Images/salespolicies_individual.html
the second link is the *Terms and Conditions for Higher Education Individual Purchases*.
You can see the tenth part:
10.1.1 All Apple-branded desktop and portable computer products shall be subject to a *36 calendar month warranty* period commencing from the date of purchase (the date of your invoice)
Is the warranty above equivalent to apple care? And the warranty coverage is global?

Hey Viv, I know the answer to your question!
If you order a mac from the U.K's higher education website (university/ over the phone) you get three years warranty + one year phone support for FREE. This is not Applecare.
Applecare = Three years warranty + Three years phone support. This will cost you, but alot cheaper if you are under higher education. E.g I brought an Aluminium iMac and Applecare costed me only £45(normal price £139 I think). To take advantage of this price, you must buy Applecare uplift - EMEA CC- HE CONTRACT UPLIFT(at bottom of customising your mac page) the same time as your mac.
Last year I didn't know the difference so I didn't buy Applecare uplift for my Macbook, but wish I had. You should buy it because after your phone support expires, the only way Apple will fix it if you take it to an official store, where with Applecare you can phone in for free and they collect your mac from you, fix it and return it to you for free.
e.g I had a faulty battery during my one year free phone service. I called them up and they sent me a new battery. If my phone service expired after one year, I would of had to bring my macbook to the store (calling them without phone support would cost like £35). Also you may need to make an appointment online before you can take your mac to the store.
Macbook's Applecare cost roughly £52 if I remember, but Applecare for Macbooks to the public cost £200.
If you buy Applecare the coverage is global, but the standard higher education warranty isn't I think.

  • What are the services will cover in extended 2 year warranty for g6-2301ax?

    Hi all,
I would like buy new g6-2301ax laptop. I got to know about 2 year extended warranty.
    My doubts are
What are the services will cover in that extended 2 year warranty?
Will they liable for any internal device failure like HD, RAM, Display and Chipset?
    Thank you

    Hello MRSrinivas,
I see that you have questions about an extended warranty.
All the information I provide would be concerning an HP extended warranty.
If you purchase a warranty from a retail store or online from a site other than HP.COM then the information would not be relevant because the terms and conditions may differ for that warranty.
Here is a link with information on the extended warranty and the different kind of features you can get with an extended warranty.
A standard warranty covers hardware failures on the computer for the length of the warranty period. That includes hard drives, memory (RAM), processors, motherboards, etc.
It does not cover any accidental damage such as cracked screens or liquid damage.
You can purchase HP warranties with features like accidental damage protection which will cover a cracked screen and liquid spills.
This is basic information about the warranties you can refer to the document for in depth  breakdown of what the warranty includes and what features you can get with different warranty plans.

  • Is my 5s lagging covered on my 1 year warranty for me to get a replacement?

I had an iPhone 4, the lock button on top stuck and wasn't working. I took it to the apple store and they replaced it with a new one because it was still under the 1 year warranty. Very shortly after that I switched to an iPhone 5s which is still under warranty until November of this year. The phone lags sometimes and not others. Like the page I am on will freeze when loading or in the middle of being on a page it goes blank like I brought up a new tab(but I didn't it just wipes the page clean) and my camera shutter lags here and there too. I was wondering if these issues are covered under my 1 year warranty(I do not have the extended apple care, just the 1 year warranty that's included with the phone). And I was also wondering if since I got a replacement (when they replaced my iPhone 4) a month or so ago if I can get another replacement or not even though it's a different phone? Thanks!

  • Only 1 year warranty for my macbookpro, is this legal in germany?

    Hi,
I bought my macbook pro 15month ago and now I found out that I got only 1 year warranty.
In germany 2 years of warranty is the normal case I know well from other technical goods.
Does anybody know if it's legal to sell goods with only one year of warranty in germany?
    Many thanks in advance,

  • Year contract for Standard service; Two year contract for free modem confusing?

I plan to order internet service to my new residence & I have few questions. Since there is only little advantage in speed between Standard and Power option at my location I have to order Standard service ($19.99 for 1 year). There are some questions with “on line order free modem" option. Standard service requires one year commitment, Free modem requires two year commitment.
    - What is a cost of Standard service after this one year commitment?
    - Can I sign for two year commitment & how much it costs?
    - If I stop the service after one year commitment what is the penalty for the modem?
    - Can I return modem after one year commitment and not pay modem penalty?
    I would appreciate any help

I doubt they would take back the modem, but might charge you for early termination.
    Here's my experience:
4 years ago, i had 3mb dsl service w/ a 327w modem and 5 phone filters (paid for shipping) .  i decided to port my phone to verizon's voice wing.  i had received a linksys pap2 voip adapter (paid for shipping). i was then told that if i port my number it would drop my dsl service.  that didn't go through, and i tried to send the equipment back but never able to coz i didn't get any address where to send it to.
i then ported my phone to vonage who just pulled the plug...i had no dsl and no phone for about 1 month, until i located an 800 number to reactivate my dsl service to a dry loop.  i was again sent 5 phone filters (paid for shipping)
I was fine for 15 months, until all of a sudden my speed went down to 2mbit dsl and being told that my line doesn't suipport 3mb.  ??? after 15 months of 3mb dsl service,  my line stopped supporting 3mb.  so i switched triple play to cable a year ago, until my promo expired.  now i'm back to dsl w/ 2mb service and i was sent a new modem 7500 (paid another shipping even i told them that i have my old 327w.  now i have a spare dsl modem in my pile of equipment.

  • 2 year standard warranty for HP Envy and Phoenix desktop lines no more

I see HP has dropped the standard 2 year warranty for these custom built machines when ordering. That is a shame as HP was one of the only few that offered 2 year standard warranty. Now they are offering 1 year standard warranty just like all the other guys. This tells me HP has done this to cut costs or they have lost some faith in their hardware. Even using cheaper parts. Example. The HP Phoenix use to come with a 600w power supply standard. Now it lists as 500w power supply. I have had my first gen custom built HP Phoenix now for over 2 1/2 years. Extremely pleased with it. And the warranty for 2 years was 1 reason I also went for the purchase at the time. You can extend it for 2 years. But, HP now wants $159 to do that. Not cool.

    Hi FattysGonewild,
The marketing group does provision a PC offering differently but the bottom line is usually the same.  Competitors like Dell have been doing this trick for years.
PC power efficiency has also improved.  Some of the higher end graphics cards that HP offers take less power.  A 500 watt high efficient PSU will usually have enough power for most graphics cards with some exceptions.
Many credit cards used to offer free of charge a one year warranty extension if the PC was registered at the time of purchase with the credit card company.  You might want to check out American Express.

  • Higher Education 3 year free warranty transfer

My sister bought a Macbook Air last year with the HE discount, for use at her university. As part of this she got the 3 year HE warranty for free.
We have agreed that I will buy the computer off her, but the warranty still has another 2 years.
My question is: does the HE warranty follow the user or the computer? Is it registered to my sisters name or the actual computer itself?
If it is registered to her, is there a way to transfer the warranty into my name?
If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ben.

It sounds like this is not a typical AppleCare Service Agreement, which does provide for transfer to a new owner. I've seen certain programs like the one you mention differ from AppleCare isasmuch as there is no telephone software support after 90 days, whereas AppleCare does provide for it for the entire 3 years.
Included with the purchase of the system should be a Warranty Terms and Conditions document which will spell out the procedure, if any exists, to transfer to a new owner.
Here is the wording from the standard AppleCare T & C.....
    10. Transfer of Plan
With Transfer of Covered Equipment to New Owner. Subject to the restrictions set forth below, you may make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your rights under the Plan to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer includes the original Proof of Purchase, the Plan's Confirmation and all of the Plan's packaging material, including printed materials and these Terms and Conditions; (b) you notify Apple of the transfer by sending, faxing or e-mailing notice of transfer to Apple Inc., ATTN: Agreement Administration, MS: 217AC, 2511 Laguna Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758, U.S., fax number 916-405-3655 or [email protected], respectively; and (c) the party receiving the Plan accepts the Terms and Conditions of the Plan. When notifying Apple of the transfer of the Plan, you must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial number of the Covered Equipment being transferred and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner.

  • Purchase a warranty for an out-of-warranty T61p

My warranty expired a little over a year ago.  My situation is that my system won't start up (1 long beep, 2 short beeps, blank screen), and I have already determined that I will need a new system board.  The price for this is $475, and it is only guaranteed for 30 days labor, and 90 days for the part.
I was told that I could possibly get a new 1 year warranty for around $150 which takes a few weeks to activate, but still seems like a great deal.  Is this true, and will it cover the system board that malfunctioned while not under warranty?

  • If I cracked the screen on my 5s and it's still under 1 year warranty, can I get a free replacement?

Hey. I dropped my phone yesterday and cracked the screen. There's also a huge chunk missing. I've had my 5s for about 10 months and I was wondering if I could get it replaced under the warranty for free by going to an Apple store?
If it helps, it has also been experiencing some minor software issues, like shutting down randomly for a couple seconds at a time as well. Those issues have been manageable. I just want to know my options before I spend a ton of money on a replacement phone when I could have avoided it.

Only if you purchased the extended Apple warranty. Otherwise, it will be treated as user negligence which voids the warranty.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • How many years warranty?

    Toshiba Qosmio G30-211 SN 37801820G
How much all the same guarantee? When buying a laptop on this site is written 3 years in the service center say 2 years.
More please answer the important question for me!!
    1) With what the serial number of the motherboard it is released?
    2) What is the date of manufacture of the motherboard Toshiba A5A001964010 SN: C069S48K
    3) And is it possible to change the graphics card without replacing the motherboard?
    thanks

Warranty is also depending on the country and notebook model. So nobody can say that a new notebook has always 2 years warranty for example.
Sometimes its also necessary to register your notebook on Toshiba website to get one additional year warranty.
So if the ASP say it has 2 years warranty it should be ok.
Regarding the serial numbers for notebook and mainboard nobody can help you here I think because its an user to user forum. So you must get in contact with local ASP.
    > And is it possible to change the graphics card without replacing the motherboard?
No, because the graphic chip is fixed on mainboard and not exchangeable.

  • After replacement, will you get one year warranty from Apple?

    Dear guys,
I have decied to send my Iphone to Apple for the replacement (211 Euro in Germany), will I get one year warranty for the refurbished one?
    Many thanks in advance.

No.  You will continue the duration of the original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer.

  • My iPhone 4 lock button broke, will Apple fix/replace it for free under the one year warranty?

I've had my iPhone 4 for just under a year now and a couple weeks ago the lock button broke. At first, it was just difficult to press down and now it's just completely stuck. I've been using the assistive touch but it's kind of a hassle. I still have a few days left of my one year warranty, so if I went to the Apple Store would they fix/replace my phone for free or would I have to pay? Also, I was having issues with my speakers previously so I went to get it fixed and they said my phone has water damage and I would need to pay to fix it. Will the water damage effect them fixing my lock button too or is it different? Any advice/guidence is greatly appreciated!

If there is water damage then they will likely conclude that your issues are a result of that and you will have to pay.
But don't ask us, ask them. We're users and this have no idea what Apple will say in your case.

  • My ipad touch sensitivity is not working like it should. It is an ipad mini and I have had it for only 6 months. Would a repair be covered by the one year warranty?

My ipad mini has not been functioning properly as of late and it is making me worry. What could be causing this problem? Are such changes covered by the one year warranty?

If there is a hardware problem that is causing the lack of touch screen sensitivity, it would be covered by the warranty as long as the problem was not caused by accidental damage - like dropping the iPad, getting it wet, letting it get too cold, too hot ...something like that.
See if this helps. Close all of the apps in the recents tray and then reboot your iPad.
Tap the home button first. Then double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
