37PF9830, Mac Mini, & DisplayConfigX

I bought a Mac Mini (dual core 1.66), and am tring to use it with my Philips 37PF9830 (1920x1080).
So far, so good! Either over or underscan (depending on the overscan checkbox) but the quality is great.
However, trying to get it to map more like 1:1 to the 1920x1080 resolution, and using DisplayConfigX.
When I have tried different settings (such as the HDTV 1080 setting), I lose the image on next reboot.
Has anyone used DisplayConfigX successfully with a 37PF9830 (or even any other 1920x1080 HDTV), and can anyone give me some decent settings?

You seem to be one of the few lucky people that managed to connect the mini to this Philips LCD series.
At the moment I am having trouble connecting to a 32PF9830. I used a DVI-D single and dual cable and went through all possible resolutions of the 'Philips FTV' monitor and the screen stayed black all the time.
Is there some trick in the connection? Like booting the computer first before turning on the TV? Or something to change in the TV setup concerning the DVI input?
Next I will try to connect using the two DVI-VGA adapters from Philips and Apple and a VGA cable.

  • How do I get rid of the black edges going around my TV with mac mini?

    I'm using my moms account right now. Well anyway, my dad decided the other day that we should connect this mac mini we have to the tv to use as a media center for movies and music. I got it all hooked up in no time flat, but I'm having this problem with the video it is outputting. It's making this big black line around the edge of the screen, as if the image isn't big enough to cover the entire screen. This is really annoying when watching movies. I checked the apple solutions, and found the dumbest solution saying "Turn on over scan and then manually adjust the settings on your tv", which would completally screw up the image for anything else besides the mac mini plugged into the tv. Is there a way I can fix this? I got this program called "DisplayConfigX" to fix it, but I need to enter very specific information about my TV such as the horizontal frequency and aspect ratio, which of course the TV manual does not have in it. Can somebody help me out here? I'm sure many people have done this with their mac minies already. If it helps, my tv is a Sony Trinitron, model KV-36XBR250. It's difficult to find any detailed information on the TV on the net considering it was purchased in 1999. Thx!

    If you have an older, PowerPC Mac mini and not the newer Intel one, I recommend you download and install ATI Displays 4.5.7 which can be found at the below link:

    You will then find an extra panel in System Preferences... which will offer a lot more control over the video output to the Sony TV compared with the meager controls you get as standard from Mac OS X. Good luck.

  • High Definition (HD) movies with a Mac Mini.

    I have been using an Apple TV with my HD TV set to watch movies - however, I can't have 1080p resolution with this setup, so, I am planning to get a Mac Mini and I would like to verify that in that case I will be able to play my movies at 1920-by-1080 resolution. Most likely I am going to use XBMC as a media center (I already use it with my Apple TV and I like it very much). I am planning to connect my TV to the Mini Mac using a Mini-Display-Port-to-DVI or Mini-DVI-to-DVI adapter and then a DVI-to-HDMI cable.
    So, is this correct or am I looking at the wrong direction?

    This device integrates the optical audio into the HDMI. Worth it's price.
    I then connected the Mini's Monoprice device to one of my Sony receiver's HDMI input port with a 3ft HDMI cable I got from a Woot special. However, you can get an inexpensive HDMI cable from Monoprice, too.

    Use DisplayConfigX's Test Screen tab to bring up the Image Size Test screen. Follow the instructions at the above 2nd link to adjust the screen resolution with Overscan on (check) in the Sys Prefs Display pane.
    You will have to iterate between the SwitchResX instructions and DisplayConfigX's Image Size Test. I finally homed in on the best solution for my Pany using these instructions in about an hour (but I was anal about getting it just right).

  • Mac Mini With Philips CRT - 1080i issues

    I have a Philips 34PW9818 High Definition CRT TV connected to my new 1.83 Mac Mini. My TV has a DVI input and supports 1080i or 480p. The only one of these options coming up under System Preferences/Display was for 1920 x 1080 (interlaced). When I choose that option the top and left portions of the screen are cut-off and the screen flickers. If I chose 848 x 480, which is the closest I have to 480p, the screen is much clearer, doesn't flicker but portions of all sides are cut-off. I had planned to use this for web browsing, Front Row and to watch DVDs. I assumed that this would work considering my TV has a DVI input and it could handle up to 1080i.
    Can this be fixed?
    Is it possible for this TV to work well for web browsing, Front Row and watching DVDs?
    Will DisplayConfigX or SwitchResX fix my problems?

    I have the same issue with my iMac Intel Core 2 Duo. 480p just isn't enough, but 1080p should be enough. What you need is a scan converter.

    seems like an inexpensive solution compared to what I had quoted earlier. Though it requires DVI on your computer end, and Composite on the TV end. Let us know how it works?

  • Mac Mini Incompatible With Philips 30PW9100D/37

    I picked up this TV from Target a few months ago at the very affordable price of $699. At that price this is probably the least expensive way to get started with HDTV. The default resolution is 1280 x 720 which looks pretty good using the built in over the air HD Tuner and connecting my PowerBook and MacBook Pro through a DVI to HDMI cable was never a problem. With these computers connected, all I had to do was switch the TV to the HDMI input and they would synch as if the TV were a second display. I thought an Intel Mac Mini would be the perfect permanent addition for a home theater.
    Both the PowerBook and my MacBook Pro connected and displayed fine at this resolution:
    1280 x 720, 60 Hz (NTSC), Millions
    Here are the configurations of these three Macs:
    PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 10.4.6
    MacBook Pro 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB RAM, 10.4.6
    Mac Mini Intel 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB RAM, 10.4.6
    As you can see, they each have 2 GB RAM and the latest OS, but the Mac Mini is the only one that does not sync with this TV at its native resolution. I'm not saying the Mini doesn't switch to 1280 x 720 resolution, which it does, it just doesn't sync with the TV at that resolution. I can get it to sync at the lower resolution of 720 x 480 but that's it. I'm using Apple Remote Desktop 3 to log in to the Mini and switch between these resolutions. I've tried SwitchResX and DisplayConfigX but the issue here is not that the Mini won't support a specific resolution, it's that it will not sync with this HDTV at that resolution whereas the PowerBook and MacBook Pro both do.
    If anyone has been able to sync this model HDTV with an Intel Mini please let me know. I plan on returning the Mini to the Apple Store in a few days. I'll just keep temporarily connecting my MBP to the HDTV when I want to use Front Row.

    single here is why im asking i have found out that
    the single cannot display correctly in that
    resolution while the duo can due to the increased
    memory weird???
    I have a duo, as stated above. This is not a resolution issue, it's a timing issue like BSteely says above. I'm going to test this over the next few days and post back here with the results. Although lacking in punctuation, I appreciate your suggestion. Thanks!

  • Mac Mini behaves poorly through DVI at 1920x1080 on HDTV displays

    I recently purchased a Samsung LN-S4695D - a 46" LCD TV capable of 1080p with HDMI and VGA inputs. I've had been using my 23" Cinema Display + a Mac Mini G4 + Rotel Amp as the centerpieces of my Home Theater, and decided to change out the display to accommodate a gaming system and perhaps some other digital or component inputs (and, of course, nab a larger viewing surface). It seems like a fairly standard use of the Mini, but unfortunately many of us are running into disappointing results using our Minis as connected to an HDTV display. I'm writing here to see if we can clear up the issue with the mini and to attempt to identify reasonable workarounds or solutions until Apple gets the Mini right for HD home theater.
    The current problem with the Mini and the Samsung TV/Display is that when the Mini is connected via DVI-HDMI (with a Monster 400 2m cable) to the display and asked to run at 1920x1080 (60hz NTSC) it does a reasonable job until it is required to refresh a lot of pixels (scrolling through album art in iTunes, playing DVD or other video, etc.). At that point, the screen fills with bands of static, and (if the rate of change is sustained) eventually looses the signal all together. With heavy scrolling operations, the signal returns as soon as scrolling stops, but with full-screen video it usually stays out until the mac resets its video resolution.     So it is clear that the Mini and HDTVs don't play well at 1080 resolutions, as many of you have attested to. The samsung seems to do a better job than most with the Mini in that it it actually renders the 1080 as well as other resolutions, but flakes out on fast updates. While some other resolutions are also problematic, it is important to note that 1280x720 runs flawlessly on the Samsung, and is currently how I have mine set up (VGA input was too disappointing compared to DVI, though it scanned great and fit the image w/o over/underscanning.). Also, my Powerbook G4 1.25ghz (older than the mini) powers the Samsung perfectly at 1920x1080 as a secondary display, running DVD video or anything else that I throw at it, which leads me to believe that the mini is the problem.     So I've three sets of questions for Apple and the rest of you on this forum:
    1) Why does the Mac Mini underpeform with the LCD display? The Powerbook works great, and the mini works great with my Cinema display (also 1920x1080) - where is the disconnect between the Mini and the Samsung? I understand very little about the actual details of DVI signals being carried across the wire, and don't understand what would cause the Powerbook to succeed, but the Mini to falter.
    2) Assuming the Mini video hardware is at fault, has Apple improved this with the new Core 2 Duo line? Has anyone had success where previous Minis or other Apple hardware failed at 1080? If not, is there any announced intention to make the hardware that is positioned as being most ideal for the living room (ie, Mac Mini) actually DVI/HDMI-compatible with the finest HD living room devices?
    3) An unfortunate sideffect of the DVI connection to the TV is that it requires the image from the Apple device to be oversanned (about a menu-bar's worth of pixels disappear on each edge) or underscanned (2" of black space around the image). Is there a common industry standard to correct this? Who is managing the overscan - the TV or the Mini? Also, can any utility, such as ScreenResX correct this until Apple manages to build in correction options into the OS for their living-room devices?

    Great post. There's a lot to digest here. Let's get started!
    The first question relating to noise, or static, over a TMDS (DVI) connection has to do with with the interoperability of various TMDS transmitters and receivers and how they are implemented. At this point in the market place there are thousands of combinations of transmitter/reciever pairings and obviously some are working better than others.
    If you were to observe a TMDS signal with a scope there is something called the "eye" which is framed by the swing voltage and the bit time. When the eye collapses and is encroached upon, digital noise is the result. The noise margin is degraded by higher bit rates. That is why the mini and your TV are working at 720p but failing at 1080p...because the dot clock is that much higher for 1080p. The solution for cases such as this is to build a custom 1920x1080 timing that has reduced blanking, which allows for the lowering of the dot clock. Generally you can lower the dot clock sufficiently to get the noise to stop. LCD displays are relatively immune to reductions in blanking time so you can squeeze a lot out of a timing that was designed more with a CRT in mind.
    To answer your second question, you can't fairly say the problem is with the mini. When you consider TMDS compatibility between two devices you have to take a whole system view. This includes not only the transmitter (mini) but the transmission line (PCB traces from the TMDS transmitter inside the mini to the mini's DVI connector -> the cable -> PCB traces from the DVI connector on the TV to the TMDS receiver in the TV), and the receiver. All three have to work together to make things come out right. You could probably just as easily find a display that works well with the mini that doesn't work with your PowerBook. It can be really had to pin the blame down to one device except in the most obvious cases where a certain device seems to be incompatible with just about everything. But I don't think the mini can be labeled that way. Compatibility is definitely an issue the industry still struggles with, especially at the higher clock rates approaching the 165MHz TMDS speed limit.
    As for question 3, overscan is being forced by the TV, not by the mini. And, no, utilities like SwitchRes X and DisplayConfigX cannot be counted on to reliably deal with this except in the case of pure analog displays with magnetic deflection systems (e.g. old TVs and monitors). Once you have a digital processor involved and a matrix addressed display, tweaks to porch timings and blanking and such do not have predictable results. It seems to work in some cases but it is basically voodoo when it does. Purely luck.
    If you want, I can help you to build a reduced blanking, 1080p timing that will most likely eliminate the DVI static. But you'll still be stuck with overscan. I should point out that a lot of manufacturers are starting to "get it" with respect to the public's desire to attach computers to their hi-def LCD televisions. I see a real shift in 2006 models. I believe the current crop of FHD (Full HD; native 1080) LCDs from the three "S" companies (Samsung, Sharp and Sony) all can display 1080p bit-for-bit now, meaning no overscan. So at least that is changing for the better. Write back if you want help with the timing.

  • Mac Mini and Philips 32PF9966 LCD

    Hi all, I've posted this on another thread but no one's replied yet,
    hope I will get more attention here!
    I just got a mac mini C2D and hooked it via DVI to my philips 32pf9966 flat tv HDTV ready. The panel has a DVI socket so I used a DVI cable. The mini automatically resolved to 720x1280 50 hz resolution, the TV would recognize the input as 720p but the characters are bloated and the top, bottom,left and right edges bleed off the screen. If I choose from the mac the 768 x 1024 resolution, the top and bottom edges are fine, the characters are perfectly readable, but I have black borders on the right and left sides. The TV recognizes an XGA input.
    From my TV spec, I see that the supported resolutions are:

    The 768x1366 is advertized as WXGA on the leaflet cover.
    The question is: I have DisplayConfigX but I'm afraid of making some blunders playing around with the settings since there are no clear instructions on the site...I tried using "timing" to set it to 768x1366 but the program automatically switched it to 1368. Is this OK? If not how do I adjust it to 1366? After I click "install", will I be able to use the other configurations I already have in the Mac mini display options or will they be cancelled?
    One last question: I'm in Italy, where allegedly the frequency should be 50 not 60Hz...Shall I go with 60 anyway?

  • Mac mini minidvi to hdmi does not display correctly new Panasonic TC-L37D2

    Hi,
    I have the 2009 mac mini (2.2GHz cor 2 duo nvidia 9400 256mb) and I recently purchased the Panasonic TC-L37D2 LED LCD tv. I use the mini dvi to dvi adapter with a belkin dvi to hdmi cable I purchased at the apple store to connect the mac mini to the tv. I cant seem to get the display to correctly fill the screen. When I select 1080P the top menu bar is out of view. Basically the desktop is larger than what is displayed on the screen making navigation difficult. I tried overscan but my screen then has black bars framing the entire desktop. Are there any updated display drivers I can try to fix this. I tried the third party software switchresx but I was only able to correct the vertical issue and not the horizontal issue (so the apple pulldown in the upper left corner is off of the screen). Why is it such a hassle to get this working? My buddy has a 42 inch Panasonic plasma and does not have any problems. Anyone know the correct switch resX settings at least? I see that Apple has added an hdmi port to the new mac minis but that just means I should have waited to buy mine. :/

    Read my post in Mac Mini to HDTV. A 3rd party utility called DisplayConfigX will allow you to create a custom resolution that will resize the Mac DVI/HDMI output to fit.
    It is annoying when that top menu bar is off the screen huh?

  • Using Mac Mini with 16:9 CRT Standard Def TV by RCA connection!

    Hello all,
    I realise that there are others who have experienced similar problems but after spending quite a bit of time searching this forum, I wasn't able to find an answer for my particular circumstance. In summary, I can't get my new Mac mini to work with my TV at all. I need to figure out where the problem might lie. Please find the specifics of my setup below.
    I have a 1.42GHz Mac Mini G4 with all the possible add-ons . It actually did not come out of the box for the first three months I owned it. I finally got it out this weekend and went to purchase a DVI-Video connector. I connected it to the TV by means of an RCA to Scart cable (which I know for a fact works fine with my Powerbook and iBook) and the TV just showed a blank screen (though there was a second or two of static each time I started up, as if settings were being re-adjusted). The TV only has Scart inputs so there RCA is going to have to be the connection method. The TV is a standard def Sanyo 16:9 CRT.
    To make sure the mini was working, and enable VNC access (brand new mini so hadn't been set up at all), I took it to my office (I have no other monitors here) and connected it to a normal Dell LCD monitor. It worked fine, and I set up VNC access so now I can use my powerbook to control it headless.
    I brought it back home and connected it to the TV again and VNCed to it expecting to find options to re-adjust resolution, refresh rate etc. All I found was 800x600 or 640x480 and I could not change the refresh rate at all. The TV is PAL but there was no mention of PAL or NTSC options. I took the opportunity to run software update and apply all the necessary updates as well.
    After some initial research, I downloaded displayconfigx. It crashes every time I try to open it... so no luck there. Then I tried another application recommended on these fora whose name escapes me now (but it started with an s and also ended with an x) and to keep a long story short, I found it very confusing and wasn't able to find a setting that made things work.
    The TV works fine as a secondary display for both my powerbook G4 and iBook G3. In fact, I'm using it with my powerbook now and my powerbook switches to the right settings as soon as I plug it in! However, my powerbook's place is in my lap and this Mac mini is sitting there unused when I really want to be using it as my media center and EyeTV box!
    Please help me. Is this a problem with the DVI-Video adapter. Is this a problem with the mini? Should I call Apple Support (I don't have Applecare but it was purchased three months ago)? Please help me solve this problem!

    I'm at work at the moment but I do remember the answers to most of these questions off the top of my head and will get the rest when I get home.
    When everything is working fine for the PowerBook, the resolution list shows a variety of interlaced resolutions ranging from 680 x 480 to 1024 x 768. There are about five or six options. The refresh rate options are PAL 50Hz or NTSC 60Hz.
    As for how it identifies the TV when connected, I have to admit I don't remember, but I believe it just identifies it as a generic TV.
    The Mac mini doesn't identify it at all. I can confirm this because I tried booting it without the monitor attached and then attaching it and I also booted it with the monitor attached. In all cases, the same options for resolution were shown (1024 x 768 and 800 x 600) and refresh rate is geyed out. To me, this indicates that it is not communicating with the display at all.
    I think that adapter may well be broken as it's never been tested with another display so this is the argument I'm going to make when I go back to the Apple Store this evening!
    I'll keep you posted on whether the new one works or not.
    Please do let me know if you think there are any other tests I should run or not.

  • Mac Mini doesn't like Philips  32PF9830

    Hi all,
    I have a problem when connecting my Mac-Mini with the Philips LCD-TV via the DVI. I only get a blank screen, what ever I try.
    Here is my history:
    I bought a DVI-D (Dual Link, 3m = 10inch?) cable and connected it to the 9830. Immediatley I saw the Mac-Os desktop, but the image was flickering (it looked like a wrong frequency) So I changed the resolution to 1920 x 1080 60Hz. I got an Black screen. Then I rebooted the Mac and I saw the grey Startup screen (the apple with an circle) and then again a black screen. This was also the last time I saw an Image coming from the Mac Mini via the DVI output.
    Then I switched to a VGA cable and connected the VGA Cable via 2 DVI-VGA adpaters to the 9830 this only works if I boot the mac without the VGA cable connected and then after the reboot is finished connect the cable to the Mac. What I then see is a 800 x 600 VGA resolution. If i then switch to another resolution I receive again a black screen.
    The Mac Mini DVI output is working because I have verified it by connecting it to another LCD display.
    I also verified the Philips DVI Input, by connecting it to a PC with DVI video-card also working fine (I experienced a bad image at 1980 x1080 too).
    I also tried an DVI-I cable (Single Link, 1,8m) but no improvement. I played around with Switchres x and displayconfigx. Nothing really worked.
    I use VNC, so I can easily switch the res at my MAC from my Laptop. I see that when I'm switch the input at my TV the Mac recognizes that there is a LCD display and switches automatically over to a 1280 x 740 resolution (I see this in the VNC screen) but the TV still stays black.
    MacOS and Switchres and displayconfigx are detecting the LCD TV correctly. I get only those resolutions displayed in the System settings that are specified by Philips for this TV.
    I really don't know what to check else .Every thing works fine but a MAC - Philips connection simply doesn't work.
    Here is the DDC file, If anyone can have a look at this or maybe have another suggestion, that would be great.
    BTW: It took me so long to convince my wife to buy a Mac Mini for the living room. Now it looks like my wife was all the time right. I hate loosing against my wife !

    Those are standard video timings and they pre-exist inside Mac OS, though I don't know exactly which file contains them. Honestly I don't know how the Mac can know which video timings your TV can work from because DDC is not supported over video connections like S-Video and Composite Video as far as I am aware. Perhaps when you previously made a DVI connection and the EDID was read, the information about supported ranges in Descriptor #3 (near the bottom of the EDID file) was matched to the pre-existing video timings inside Mac OS and only those which matched up to your TV are presented in Display Preferences. I am just guessing.
    I doubt cable length is giving problems. True the mini has poor drive out the VGA port but I have not heard the same of the DVI port. I use an inexpensive 3m DVI cable with my mini and TV it works without issue.
    One other thing you might want to try since you are seeing video timings which you would like to access when making a DVI or VGA connection...as far as I know, if you boot a Mac and hold down Command-Opt-A-V keys all together while the Mac starts up, this will force the Mac to treat the attached display as an AV display. In that case the video timings you see may become available under Display Preferences even though you are making a "PC" connection (VGA or DVI) and not a video connection. I am not sure this will work but it is worth a try.

  • MAC MINI WIDESCREEN DISPLAY

    I've got a mac mini connected to my Samsung Widescreen TV. The display is in standard 4:3 ratio and I'd like it to be wide screen 16:9. I can strech the display through the TV controls, but this is just stretching the picture rather than changing the ratio.
    I've tried changing the resolution but this doesn't change the ratio - can you help?

    I've found another forum post at http://www.123macmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6690&highlight=widescreen, describing pretty much the same situation, and a nightmare using displayconfigx that eventually caused havoc with his display adaptor.
    I'm running a Dual Core Intel MacMini with a DVI to VGA output, running to a plasma display running at 1024x768. The display doesn't have DVI or HDMI - only Component, Composite, S-Video and my preferred option: VGA.
    Interestingly, when I plugged the same display into a Dual Core PowerPC G5 Tower, I had two display options, of 1024x786 and 1027x576, although the display couldn't sync to the 1027x576 signal.
    Could Quartz handle correcting the display, so instead of outputting for square-pixel, it could output to 1.777 (16:9 anamorphic)?
    Is there a solution for this?

  • Widescreen w. DVI from Mac-Mini ?

    I bought a new monitor (Philips 200W6CS) with 1680*1050 pixels , to replace a Belinea with 1200*1000 pix.
    When connected to the mac mini it gave a very clear picture but only for only 5 minutes, ending in sleep-mode, or "no signal".
    The same DVI-cable then still gives signal to other DVI-monitor,
    The new 200W6CS does only work stable on VGA with same but less sharp 1680*1050 pix, .... and still with DVI from PC's.
    The OS here is 10.3.7..
    The video from mac-mini should support 1900*1200 pix...
    What is wrong ??, and how to fix ??

    I suspect if you dug into the details of the video timing for 1680 x 1050 you would find the dot clock is above 135 MHz. The mini is not stable above that level with certain DVI receivers. Probably you will have to use a program like DisplayConfigX or SwitchRes X to lower the pixel clock below 135. Here is a thread that may help.

  • Using an emac as a monitor for a mac mini

    Sorry if the question was already asked, but a quick search in the forum brought no answer.
    I have an emac (OS9) and a mac mini(OSX). I'd like to use the emac as a monitor for the mac mini. Is it possible? How? (Both are G4, although I don't think that's relevant : I don't want to use them at the same time, only to use the Emac as a "screen")

    I happen to know for a fact that you can use the internal screen on an iMac G3 333, and presumably also a 266 and 233. It has a fixed horizontal frequency so it will only display the resolutions that you can choose with it's motherboard installed: 640x480@117Hz, 800x600@95Hz, and 1024x768@75Hz. With DisplayConfigX I was even able to get other resolutions, as long as I stayed within the 60kHz horizontal frequency. If try to set it to any other resolution and refresh rate it will not work, so the best way to test it is to have another screen as your main screen so that you can set the resolutions on the iMac screen from there. I imagine that the screen in the eMac does not have a fixed horizontal frequency, so if you got the pinouts, you could probably get it working. However, I made a custom video cable for a slot loading iMac G3, and I couldn't get it to work.

  • New Mac Mini, Not so new LCD HDTV Monitor, no mac support

    I have been attempting to set up a Mac Mini with a Maxent LCD 26" HD TV I can't get either the RGB or DVI-D input to accept signal. I have purchased DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX_X. Maybe they could work, but I can't get a signal to stay on long enough to change the settings as listed in other posts. I have tried booting in safe mode as DisplayConfigX instructions suggest. But still only am able to see the screen until gear starts spinning with apple logo, resolution changes spontaneously to one that I suppose is unsupported and I get the unsupported display and a beautiful blank blue screen. I tried manually inputting the resolutions the monitor manual lists, while connected with an lcd pc monitor. But I can't get the Maxent LCD TV monitor to stay on. It appears that if I could get the Mac Mini to send this resolution signal to the Maxent I would be able to delete any unneeded settings and that would be it.
    Perhaps Tom Fussy can help me.I have been at this for over two weeks now. So I have become super frustrated. Of course Maxentusa.com offers no Mac support. But state that if Mac mini is supposed to work with PC that it should work with my Mac Mini. My LCD TV is about 6 months old I could still return it for maybe a Sharp Aquos, if that $300 dollar more TV would work. I am happy with the Maxent otherwise. Keeping it, and having it work with Mac Mini Is my choice. Of course Apple offers no support for the Maxent monitor and directed me here. This is my first discussion group post. School me if I have not followed the rules completely.

    je suis sur le point d'acheter une tv panasonic 55ax630e en 4K.
    pour l'instant mon mac mini est relié a un moniteur qui est une autre tv samsung de 40" en 1080p et tout va bien.
    mes questions sont :
    - la sortie du mac mini limite la 4k en 30Hz. ça va être genant sur la Panasonic ? des petits lag etc ?
    - plus important ... y aura des salades si je met les deux écrans en meme temps ? le mac mini est assez puissant sachant que j'ai le modele de base avec l'intel HD5000 ?
    - si vraiment rien ne marche, je changerais de modele pour reprendre une tv en 1080p. dans ce cas la, plus de problemes ?
    je pense mettre la tv 4k sur le HDMI, et le samsung en 40" 1080p avec un adaptateur thunderbolt HDMI. c'est bon ?

    1. Vous pouvez trouver les spécifications à http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_mini/specs/mac-mini-core-i7-3.0-late-2 014-specs.html utile pour déterminer si ce est le adaptateur vous donnant des problèmes avec l'écran, ou si ce est vraiment une limitation du matériel de Mac.
    2. Vérifiez avec le fabricant de l'écran se ils ont de l'expérience connexion au Mac Mini et si il ya certains paramètres qui fonctionnent mieux. Parfois, un cadre entre 1080p et 4K existe qui offre un meilleur support de fréquence.
    3. SwitchResX et DisplayConfigX sont des logiciels qui offrent un meilleur réglage fin de la résolution que ce qui est intégré à Mac:

    1. You may find the specs at http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_mini/specs/mac-mini-core-i7-3.0-late-2 014-specs.html useful to determine if it is the adapter giving you trouble with the display, or if it really is a limitation of the Mac's hardware.
    2. Check with the display manufacturer if they have experience connecting to the Mac Mini and if there are certain settings that work better.   Sometimes a setting in between 1080p and 4k exists that offers better frequency support.
    3. SwitchResX and DisplayConfigX are software that offer better fine tuning of resolution than is built-in to the Mac:
