3D animation in iPhone application - audio volume drives a mouth morph?

Hello,
I created a series of 3D characters in LightWave 3D that I want to use in an iPhone application. Is there a way to use the audio volume to drive a morph? I want to set up a simple mouth-open/mouth-closed movement that is driven by the audio volume.
Thanks,
Tom

there's nothing really 'driving' the audio volume except the recording itself.
Since playback is assumed constant, one way to sense non-silence is to monitor/trap AudioQueueLevelMeterState...if that is active/peaked/bouncing, then assume mouth = opened/moving.

  • IPhone 3GS Audio Volume Decrease After iOS 5 Update

The Audio/Volume on my iPhone 3GS has Decrease SIGNIFICANTLY After iOS 5 Update.  Oddly, the volume of the ring is fine, and as lout as it used to be, and as loud as all other audio should be, but when using any 3rd party applications, the volume output is significantly less (about 40% less) than it used to be.
I am NOT the only person to experience this problem.  Apparently, the issue has been around since this past summer, when iOS was still being developed / tested.  There is a post about someone experiencing the same issue, here:
    http://modmyi.com/forums/general-iphone-chat/768919-ios-5-low-volume.html
And before you ask .. I did a language change and reset, and I am still experiencing the SAME issue.
Any help or advice with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    In advance, thank you.

I have a similar or related problem with iOS5/3GS and volume:

In my case I can hear nothing from the internal speakers although I can use headphones. The volume slider bar is unavailable unless I plug in headphones.

  • How do I back up my iPhone to a flash drive? I know it's possible, I just don't exactly know how to do it.

My computer won't back up my iPhone. I'm guessing it's due to not having enough space. I'd like to instead, back up my iPhone to a flash drive. How do you transfer it to the flash drive? I'm aware that you can choose past back ups to transfer but my iPhone has never been backed up, so is there a way to, as my phone is syncing and attempting to back up, that I could have it automatically transfer all the information straight to the flash drive? Hope i'm not too confusing and you can understand what I'm trying to ask. THANKS.

The iPhone backups are saved on the Users/user_name/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup folder. You can create a symlink that points that folder to your external flash drive, but those backups files are pretty big so iTunes may take longer to create those files in a flash drive.
Symlinks are created using the command ln -s, and it may look something like:
    ln -s /Volumes/your_flash_drive_name_here  /Volumes/your_hdd_name_here/Users/your_user_name_here/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
You can also find applications that make symlinks creaton easier.

  • IPhone 4S audio only playing through my iPod dock

My iPhone 4s audio is only working when I play it through an external device, such as an iPhone dock or the bluetooth output in my car, but it will not play audio through my external speakers or through a pair of headphone. Where the volume bar is at the bottom of the music app, it appears gray as if it is plugged into an external device when it is not. Hopefully someone can help!

    Hi MSavageXIV,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not hearing sound from your iPhone when using headphones, start with these troubleshooting steps:
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.
If you do not hear sound from the built in speaker, try these steps:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • Hardware requirements for ipad/iphone application development.

    Hello,
I'd like to know what is the "comfortable" hardware requirement  to develop fairly big  ipad/iphone applications in a professional environment.
Comfortable = No hardware upgrades of any kind for at least one year of heavy programming.
I'd like to have solid numbers:
    CPU
    Memory (in GB)
    Hard drive size.
    Thank You for any help.

raw power? More than enough to run Xcode.
You asked for minimum. Any new Mac today is enough. Not sure I'd bother with an Air and small screens, tho they will do in a pinch.
Have you walked into an Apple Store and tried using any of the computers on display? What types of apps will you be expected to work on? AirPlay and iCloud part of the apps you'll build? Universal apps or just iPhone or iPad? What do you do when you need several windows on the deskop?
What newcomers seem to overlook are the ancillary demands from the associated text, graphics, movie and audio editors that all seem to be simultaneously required.
I run three monitors and 1/2 dozen test mules. I keep full backups at all times. Do the math. A professional environment doesn't sound like it would require any minimums. You haven't laid out any details so it's difficult to give more than casual advice I think. You're asking questions, tho, so your on the right track.
Good luck in any case and Happy Holidays!

  • IPhone 5 audio jack problems

My iPhone 5 audio jack seems like it's broken or something. Every time I put my headphones in and I move them a little bit the music either pauses, changes into a different volume , only plays on one side ,or sounds like static. Is is broken? If so can it be fixed? Also it isn't the earbuds since it did the same thing when I use a brand new pair!

Bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.  If defective, it will be replaced (free of charge if within the warranty period)

  • Slideshow audio volume adjustment

Help! I can't seem to adjust the audio volume of the audio file on a slideshow project. The audio volume on playback is always the same whether I slide the volume adjustment to the maximum or down to zero. On playback the audio volume is always the same. I need to lower this volume because it drowns out the narration part of the slideshow. How do you do this??
    Thank You!

I have come across this problem but I’m not sure I have a solution, perhaps only a work-around.
I have managed to save a slideshow from PSE as a WMV file on my hard drive.
Opening the WMV file with Windows Movie Maker (sorry if you are on a MAC) does allow the volume of the background track to be adjusted whilst also having a primary (Commentary) audio track.

  • Why is my iTunes insisting on 'determining audio volume' every time?

I upgraded to iTunes 9 a few weeks back and seemingly from that point onwards my iTunes application wants to 'determine audio volume' on a great number of tracks as soon as the program is launched.
The setting is unticked in Preferences on iTunes and on the iPod I synch with.
I don't want it to be doing this, especially as I'm quite happy to manually change this level if I feel its required, but can find no way of preventing it, aside from clicking on the 'x' in the top window whenever it starts - which is becoming tiresome.
I've tried deleting the cache file in Library > Caches and also starting up in Safe Mode and then opening again in normal mode but all to no avail.
    Help!!!

Make sure you have also unticked sound check in the burn settings dialog you get when you burn a playlist to disc.

  • Could not download this driver: IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver for Microsoft Windows 7.

Tried to download this driver:  IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver for Microsoft Windows 7.
It would not download - said it was not compatble with my operating system.
    I run Windows 7,   64 bit.
I'm trying to increse the sound volume from the monitor.
I have increased the sound to 100 from the monitor and in Windows .  It is still barely audible. . .

    Hello again valens-mom,
Thank you for responding to my post requesting additional information. I can tell you that according to Product Specifications page for your HP Pavilion w2338h is a 23-inch wide-screen HDMI monitor, your monitor has 2 watts oer speaker integrated speakers. A pair of reasonably sensitive speakers deliver the following decibel levels at a distance of about one meter.
    Power/ Decibels
    2 Watts = 93 decibels
    4 Watts = 96 decibels
    8 Watts = 99 decibels
    16 Watts = 102 decibels
    32 Watts = 105 decibels
    64 Watts = 108 decibels
    128 Watts = 111 decibels
    256 Watts = 114 decibels
    512 Watts= 117 decibels
    1024 Watts = 120 decibels
    For Comparison
    10db = normal human breathing
    60db = normal human conversation
110db = power saw, car horn, shouting in ear,
120db = jet aircraft close by, emergency vehicle siren, rock concert
Now as to whether installing the IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 will give you the audio level you are seeking will depend on what computer you have and what audio drivers are installed. To provide you with more accurate information I would need to know additional information concerning your computer. Is this an HP computer? If it is not the driver question would be better answered by the computer manufacturer. If this is an HP computer could you please provide the product number for it so I can take a look into what drivers work on that computer?
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Please if you require additional help in this re-post with the requested information and I would be happy to provide you with further assistance. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • "Determining Audio Volume" question

    Hello,
While fooling around on iTunes, I somehow changed a setting so that the rectangular window at the top of the screen, which normally shows the song being played, the status of syncing, etc., now shows the message, "Determining Audio Volume" and appears to be running through all the songs on my Mac. I can click the "X" to the right of the window and that stops the activity for the time being, but the next time I open iTunes, it starts all over. I can't figure out how to stop this activity.
    Any suggestions?

Let it finish? How many years should I wait? iTunes is totally disabled by this "feature". If I stop the Determining, the program freezes and I have to force quit. If I try to select a song while it's doing this, the same. I have un-installed and re-installed and gone back to prior versions and used previous libraries and yada yada ad nauseum. Why is support so poor? My impression is that this application just ties itself in knots that cannot be untangled. I have no videos, no podcasts, no state-of-the-art stuff, but I do a lot of live recording (mp3s and WAV files) and want to archive and manage it in iTunes (what alternative do I have?), and it seems utterly deficient for that task. Whenever I try to play anything on the computer, the audio defaults to iTunes, and that's the end of that. I've tried Audacity, but it's slow and cumbersome and doesn't burn audio cds.
Why is iTunes so problematic, and why do we have to wade through thousands of discussions with helpful titles like "help" to look for solutions? I've had Macs since 1984, and this is just sad.

Few days back i bought 8 ringtones from my iphone application for itunes and when yesterday I sync it with itunes all my ringtones washed off. I tried to again download the same ringtones from itunes then it again asked for payment. Why?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • More finegrained audio volume control? (Harman/Kardon USB SoundSticks)

    Hi,
I've been asking this question for every major release since 10.2 and I am near to just give up on it. I use the Harman/Kardon SoundSticks (the older USB model, not version 2 with the regular audio jack) and since 10.2 they are simply too loud. Since the speakers themselves do not have any volume control knob it has to be a software solution.
With OS X's sound volume keys I can only use "1 bar of volume" when in front of my Mac and even that is too loud. The only solution is to turn it off completely or to lower it a little bit via the volume control slider in the menu bar. This results in approximately "3/4 bar of volume". Moving it just a tiny bit down from here results in muted audio.
Is there any way to just reduce the overall audio volume via software? Sure, I can do it app by app, but I really need a systemwide solution!
    Thanks
    Björn

Then maybe you're really lucky or just like the high volume setting. This problem exists for years now and it's definitely not caused by my hardware/software. It was the same with the following Macs:
    - Power Mac G4
    - iBook G3
    - iBook G4
    - Power Mac G4 Cube
    - PowerBook G4 Ti
    - PowerBook G4 Alu
    - MacBook Pro CD
    - MacBook Pro C2D
And it happened on all releases of OS X from 10.2 up to 10.5. All versions were installed clean without upgrading so I really have reason to believe it's Apple's sound driver for the SoundSticks...

  • IPhone Application Launch Image

OK, either no one has noticed this, or I'm a complete idiot for seeing how to do this... but how do I set an image to be the launch image for my iPhone application. Apple has a whole page in their "iPhone Human Interface Guidelines" document about the launch image, but it fails to say how to actually use one.
I'm assuming something has to be done in the Info.plist, but I'm not sure what the key name would be.

the word i got back is that they are looking into making the feature available for the SDK, but probably will not be there for the 2.0 release.
i wouldn't be surprised that those apps can do stuff that ours can't. for instance, mail supports push, but we don't have that available for the sdk yet. so, yes, there must be some way to do it, but no, i don't think we can get to it yet.
my suggestion was to first look for the Default.png in the application's documents dir, then look in the bundle. this would mean that i could keep a screen shot saved in there as the user did things, then it would be available upon the next startup without my app doing anything. as it is, since my starting screen changes all the time based on what the user was last doing, i had to come up with a "splash" screen to keep it from being black. i think "peel" away that splash screen with a curl animation to reveal the real screen behind.

  • Mini CQ10t-100 IDT audio volume really low even when maxed out

Just got my mini in today and the audio volume is very low.  Even at 100% you can barely hear it.  Ive downloaded the latest driver on hp's site and im still having the same problem.  Im running Windows XP SP3 with IDT driver version 5.10.6217.0.
Doing some google searches I found a couple of sites that recommended uninstalling the IDT driver and using Vistas High Definition Audio CODEC driver but I dont have that option with XP.  How can I get this working correctly?

Unfortunately, you are not the only one. This has been reported elsewhere, and there doesn't seem to be any fix that I have seen. Your only solution may be to revert to 10.4.6.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news,

  • Iphone 5c call volume is very low. Any suggestions?

My iphone 5c call volume is very low. While on a call, I can barely hear the person on the other line. It sounds like they are at 25% volume when the volume shows it is at 100% volume. They can hear me fine. I have tried resetting/restoring several times, the call volume is all the way up, and have even tried messing with the accessibility-->hearing aid setting. The only way to get by it right now is to have it on speakerphone, which works fine. This happens with every person I have talked with, even landlines. Any help greatly appreciated.
