3d Stereoscopic Workflow and Display
I've been given the task of developing a 3D stereoscopic project, I've done this in the past with googles, but it now needs to play in a tradeshow environemnt with a HDTV/3d capable. I have the luxury of being able to spec out the monitor and playback DVD/Bluray. In the past, I've used field-sequential DVDs, and I'd be happy with that if I had confidence that a modern HDTV/Bluray combo would play it back as expected. In my current research, authoring 3D Blurays would be prohibitively expensive. I currently own the Adobe CS5 Master Collection.
My question would be: has anyone had experience with field sequential DVDs on modern flat panel equipment (I know it works with older CRTs)? If positive result, any clues on make/models of the various components.
My hope is to have stereo shutter glasses and not color anaglyphs glasses at the show.
In a worst-case scenario, I could spec out a PC/laptop for the show - but a BluRay/DVD player would be ideal for space and usability considerations.

My experience has been with side-by-side on BluRay and that seems to work fine, although you lose horizontal resolution compared to frame sequential. I've burned discs to BD-R, but if you don't have a BD burner and your content is short enough, you can burn BluRay-on-DVD discs using a standard DVD burner. I've been using Toast to do the burning.
Shutter glasses are kind of pricey for use at a tradeshow--they do have a tendency to walk off. I'd go with cheap cardboard circularly polarized glasses and the JVC GD-463D10 monitor myself. I've tested my discs on the much cheaper Samsung TVs with shutter glasses, so that's another way to go.

My problem is when my BlackBerry has no conection ( offline scenario). When I select the menu item, I obtain an error.
How to acces and display datas storaged in cache for my MBO? I have read that I can use getMessageValueCollection in custom.js to access to my datas but once I get the datas, How can associate those datas to a Listview like a online request?? Do i have to develop my own screen in html or how?
Thanks.I'm not entirely clear on what you mean by "cache" in this context. I'm going to assume that what you are really referring to is the contents of the workflow message, so correct me if I'm wrong. There is, in later releases, the ability to set an device-side request cache time so that if you issue an online request it'll store the results in an on-device cache and if you subsequently reissue the same online request with the same parameter values within that timeout period it'll get the data from the cache rather than going to the server, but my gut instinct is that this is not what you are referring to.
To access the data in the workflow message, you are correct, you would call getMessageValueCollection(). It will return an object hierarchy with objects defined in WorkflowMessage.js. Note that if your online request fails, the data won't magically appear in your workflow message.
To use the data in the workflow message to update a listview, feel free to examine the code in the listview widgets and in API.js. You can also create a custom listview as follows:

RAW PHOTO WORKFLOW AND BACKUP?
i have a canon 20D which is set to shoot both jpegs and raw photos. when i plug my card reader into my mac, it automatically opens IPHOTO5 and then i download the images. i get two thumbnails, one says it is a raw, the other a jpeg. but:
1) i have no idea how to backup the raw images to a dvd or to my external hard drive. and (see below for related problem)
2) i don't know how to work with the raws. i do own photo shop, but tried dragging the thumbnail into photoshop, and it tells me it could not complete the task because it is the wrong kind of document. i had the same problem when just trying to drag those raws onto my desktop. is this because i am just dragging thumbnails, and if that's the case, where do my raws reside in IPHOTO?
3) and, even if i can figure out how to get the raws into photoshop, when i go to save them, how and where should i save them and if i want to use the corrected raw to send for printing, do i need to change to a different format? and should i save the new file in iphoto?
4) last, i get the feeling that maybe the raw photos i have imported from my cards into iphoto (then deleted the originals) now no longer exist as raws anywhere. does iphoto not actually import the raw, but just a raw thumbnail?
sorry for all the questions that might seem elementary, but i have never had a digital SLR and i really need to establish a proper workflow and make sure to backup my most important photos.

Click on the Finder icon on the Dock to open the Finder, open the Pictures folder, and you will see several dated folders (folders named as such: 2005-11-20, 2005-01-07, 2006-01-07, etc.). Each folder contains pictures you downloaded form your camera on those dates, but only photos you have not deleted.
2. Down the bottom somewhere (in the Pictures folder) you will see iPhoto Library. Open this folder and you will see more folders, but dated as follows: 2004, 2005, 2006, etc. Open one of these folders, and you will see other folders, but numbered as follows: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 11, 10, etc.
Not every one of these numbered folder will have an "Originals" folder, but some will.
Whatever you do, don't change the folder's names, or structure of anything in the iPhoto's Library. I have no idea if you should drag the original photos out of the Originals folder, but I would think that you can duplicate the photos, and drag only the copies into another folder on the desktop.
Keep in mind that you can set the iPhoto Preferences so that PhotoShop Elements is set as the photo editing application. If you set iPhoto to do that for you, when you double-click on any of the photos on the iPhoto window or display, Elements will automatically launch and open the photo for you. If the photo is a RAW or JPEG, Elements will show it as such at the left bottom corner. If you want to leave the RAW photo intact, just rename the copy you are working with- before you save it (don't save any photo with it's original name to avoid changing the original). However, you can save an original that has been changed in a format such as TIFF, and in another folder, CD, another hard drive, etc. TIFF files are not compressed and take lots of space on the hard drive, but the photos does not degrade. Every time you work with a JPEG image it degrades.

We have recently upgraded ourselves to MDM 5.5 SP4 Patch pack 4. This patch pack was intended to solve an earlier problem we faced when integrating Universal Worklist (UWL) with MDM.
Earlier the UWL would return error in case the MDM workflows had worklfow jobs which the user had to not "Accepted". If the user "Accepts" it using MDM Data Manager, then the record would appear on the UWL.
I wish to know how we can configure the "Accept" button on the UWL, so that the user sees all the "Available" workflows and can "Accept" the workflow job which he plans to work upon.

MDM Workflows and UWL in CE 7.11
Hello,
I am working with MDM Workflows and UWL in CE 7.11.
For configuring the UWL, we need to set some property of MDM Result Set iView to
connect and display MDM workflows for an MDM repository in EP 7.0.
But in CE 7.11 the concept of Result Set iView is replaced by ResultSet component which we use as a used component in the custom wrapper (DC).
How to use ResultSet component to configure UWL in CE 7.11 ?

Please analyze my workflow and suggest an alternative?
As per a suggestion by 'Shooternz', I am posting a description of my workflow for anyone interested to analyze, and possibly make suggestions? Its time to abandon parts of this workflow for reasons I will not bring up ( to avoid any more discussion on that topic...lol).
Here is what I've been doing:
NAMING CONVENTION:
My primary business is filming sporting events. I have created a file naming convention for each video file which enables me to recognize 4 main details about a video just by reading the filename:

(venue) (date) (competition#) (competitor#)
This naming convention lets me maintain a database of my footage, and thus dynamically deliver my video content on a webpage (in beta), letting competitors search the video library efficiently. It also ensures that no 2 files will ever have the same name in my NAS. It seriously speeds up searches, and search accuracy due to the number of parameters.
This naming convention being used during actual capture phase of my workflow eliminates the need for excessive file renaming and footage cataloging...
CAPTURE:
Up to 8 camera's capture straight to disk via a laptop. The reason I went through laptops was twofold:
-I do not have camera's with internal drives, only firewire or to tape.
-To enable my cameramen to name files according to the naming convention, (thus saving countless hours cataloging) and also document specific metadata (eg 'bloopers' or 'highlights') in 'OnLocation CS5'. That way, when I open a video in Premiere for the first time, there is no file renaming or metadata loggin.
STORAGE:
My laptops are all plugged into my network in my mobile office at the end of the day, and transfer their footage to my RAID 10 NAS via a gigabit switch, configured for JumboFrames. When the transfer is finished, there is no cataloging footage or file renaming needed.
EDITING:
I've created Premiere and Encore templates (placeholder footage, titles, etc). I use the media browser to find specific videos on my NAS and drag and drop them into the project panel. At this point, all that is needed is to click on the templates 'placeholder' video in a sequence and use the 'Replace Clip' function to swap in the actual footage I want. a few quick trims and PRESTO! I do this for every round a customer purchases, edit the relevant 'Titles', and then DynamicLink to Encore.
I have also created a template in Encore, with up to 24 timelines pre made, with my flowchart already linked up, end actions set, button routing configured. I quickly plug my DynamicLinked Premiere sequences into my encore templates pre-existing timelines. After all the timelines are filled, I open the the projects menu's in Photoshop and make the necessary changes to the Menu button names, event names etc..
If a client orders a DVD, I render it. If the client also wishes to have digital files, I export the individual timelines via AME, and then add them to the DVDROM content folder.
VOILA!
That is my workflow in a nutshell...

DavidThanks Colin, this also looks like a possible solution. The one big loss of using free software instead of OnLocation, is that annoying loss of metadata input.
Imagine you have 4 years of baseball footage. You want to search through all of that for videos of a specific player in which he hit homeruns. While the files can be named before the player bats, so your name reflects what venue, date, teams, and game this video is of, the filename cannot include information about what happened after the recording was begun (eg a homerun, or strikeout). OnLocation allows my camerafolk to quickly attach metadata on the fly, which will then be searchable in Premiere. This is the disconnect. I have no way to pass such metadata to Premiere while using these other programs.
Now if someone knows of a free program which allows you to record metadata to attach to the file, metadata that will be found and displayed by Premiere, that would be A GODSEND.

Workflow and settings for best quality .png export
I need to export a vector image to a .png for use on Retina display devices. What is the workflow and settings for exporting that results in the best possible quality .png image?
The workflow I used to produce the previously posted image on a WIndows 7 PC:
File>Export>Set "Save As" type to PNG
Upon pressing the "Save" button a PNG Options window will appear.
Resolution: Screen (72 ppi)
Anti-Aliasing: Type Optimized (Hinting)
I contacted Adobe support and they told me that the only way to export .png is via "Export" or "Save For Web".
"Save For Web" is designed to compress and I wanted to avoid that to ensure retina display quality.
I chose 72 ppi instead of a higher setting (support suggested I use 300 ppi) because Apple retina displays do not recognize ppi above 72.
The Anti-Aliasing setting was my default and I read somewhere that this was the best for getting crisp edges on retina displays (Sorry, I cant recall the source)
My concerns are that the export and anti-aliasing make larger files and I'm not convinced they are noticably better quality than "Save For Web".
Also, it's worth noting that the support was clearly reading from a reference guide. It was not a "real" expert that could explain the best workflow. -
Subtitles: FCP or DVDSP? Best workflow and quality?
I have always placed subtitles in FCP. I am now looking at DVDSP instead. This will help I know if I ever need a second language option. But how is the workflow and is the quality good?
For me it seems easier in FCP, because I can make editing decisions while seeing the subtitle. Having to make a locked and final edit and still not have subtitles in place appears more difficult and prone to problems. Anyone find these problems easy to deal with using DVDSP for subtitles?Jon Braeley wrote:

Maybe. the function isn't the issue, it's the delivery method that makes the determination. Are you encoding to Line 21, burning the text over the video, or creating a stream of subtitle data? Most DVD players cannot handle Line 21, that's a function of the television set. All DVD players can access up to 32 subtitle streams. If you're burning the subs into the video, it doesn't matter how you play the video.
My question is that if the delivery is to be DVD, why do some users still create subtitles in FCP instead of DVDSP?
Subtitling in FCP is still a grim chore. Just seems that DVDSP would be the better option, or does FCP offer much better text quality-format options?
There is no option to burn in "subtitles" in DVDSP. DVD subtitles are streams of text and formatting data, not text image files, although sub streams can display graphics. FCP does not have a utility to export text objects as subtitle data streams in STL, SMI, SML, SON, or SCR formats. You cannot import a QT movie into the subtitle tracks.
So, where you create the subtitles is determined by two things: a) your need for flexibility (for changes or to receive data from another source) and b) your need for quality. Subs created and drawn onto the screen by the DVD player will be fairly high quality. Text that is burned into the video will never be any better than the encoder settings you used for the MPEG2.

Calculating and displaying the Length of the side of a triangle
Hi everyone. I am currently working on Dragging and Stretching a triangle on screen. Ive got it working to a certain extent but the only problem is that whenever I go to the point from which i have to drag my triangle i.e. the Left hand Corner of the BAse at exactly 300,300 it redraws a new triangle below the existing one and then when i stretch it from the top and the right it leaves a trail of triangles everytime. But when i resize my window it clears the trail only to start agian when I drag or stretch it...
All my code for wahtever I have done is displayed below. I would appreciate all the help that any one can offer.
Secondly , as I stretch my triangle I would like to calculate My Length of the hypotenuse and the other 2 sides as they change and display it in System.out.println for now...

Hey sorry mate.. ive got a nother problem.
I need to add loads of theorems to this tool. so i need a JMenu Bar called File with all the normal things. then another Menu called Theorems where i can have a list of JMenuItems with the theorem names --- Like when they click on Pythagoras Theorem it opens up all the triangle and the traingle data that u helped me with.
The thing is im using netbeans and in netbeans i can do it coz its there and all you got to do is put the components together.

Do some time searching Google and maybe you'll find code that someone was nice enough to make freely available, although I wouldn't count on it. Were i a programmer and took the time to read those docs and write the code, I'd want to be paid for my time. But there are a lot of programmers who swear by freeware! You may get lucky.

Is there any FM in SAP which gives the detail roadmap of the steps taken in a workflow and the diffrent status or decision at each step.
I am looking for something like what you see when you click on the "STARTED WORKFLOW" in the business workplace outbox.
Which shows up the "steps in the process so far " and the decision and the agents for each of them.

Please provide the solution for the following scenario:
In the first view(xml) I have a table with the fields QuotationNo,plant name, material no...etc, where I am displaying the data fetched using Odata model. The table is enable with Single line selection mode. My requirement is to Carry the selected row data to another view(xml) and display there.
