3dmark2005 v1.2.0, no go in my Neo4 Plat

Well, it is giving me a lot of problem for the last few weeks. Sometime 3dmark2005 runs all the way to the end, most of the time it crashes after 5th test, that is at the end of 2nd cpu test with BSOD; getting some message like IRQ blah blah and it is caused by nv4_disp.dll, which is definitely part of my 6600GT. Just wondering if any one else has any issue with Neo4 Plat, Evga 6600GT and 3dmark2005?

3dmark05 is very intense benchmark to run it used to crash on my old 9800pro comp. you could also give 3dmark03 a try that one should run ok.
your overclock seems really screwy your cpu is overclocked and your mem is only ddr333 that doesnt make any sense too me anyway
the problem could also be memory timings/ voltages what are they?
could try 2.5-3-3-8 1T or 3-3-3-8 2T
It was not actually what you thing. DDR333 is what it should be if teh CPU is set at its stock FSB. The actual memclock is PC3500 or a little higher than DDR400. My meme clock is what you mentioned, 2.5-3-3-8, 1T. Will try 3dmark2003 anyway. However, I used to run 3dmark2005 in my laptop without a crash, so I think it is actually causing by something!

It's all in the drivers it seems...let the cheats commence...
My 6800GT got a monumental boost in performance when moving from 65.xx to 66.51 drivers. In Aquamark3, the GFX part of the score went from 9200+ to 9500+, and the 3dmark05 score improvement (as a relative percentage) was even better than Aquamark (oops, don't have the #'s in front of me...might have been something like 4300-->4800 but I may be mis-remembering and that sounds too good to be true). Anyway, if you are a 68xx series owner, consider ditching good ole 61.77 and upgrading to 66.51. There's a later 66.70 but I haven't tried it and later doesn't necessarily mean better.

rainz, dude, what's with your sig? Are you *really* ditching your X800XT just to upgrade to an X800XT Platinum edition? Where do you get the money?
Either way, 5700's an epic score, congrats!!

  • Mac Pro RAID0 crashing Windows

I've just installed a new Mac Pro with Lion, and installed Boot Camp with Windows 7 on the primary system drive.  The initial install of Windows went fine, and during the Boot Camp driver install process (display at low-res, etc.) I had no issues.  But after installing the Boot Camp drivers and restarting, Windows will crash with a blue-screen error around 30 seconds after the log-in screen appears.  In Windows safe mode, I don't get a system crash.
I've narrowed down the cause as being related to a software RAID0 volume installed in the Mac Pro.  My drive configuration is:
    Bay 1: 1TB - Partitioned with Lion / Windows 7
    Bay 2: 4TB drive (RAID0 with Bay 3) - HFS+
    Bay 3: 4TB drive (RAID0 with Bay 2) - HFS+
    Bay 4: empty
If I remove drives 2 and 3, then reboot Windows, everything runs fine.
I've read in a number of places that Boot Camp does not support booting Windows from a Mac SW RAID volume, but does the very presence of these RAID striped drives cause the system to fall over?  Or is it posisbly related to the fact they are 4TB drives?
I don't need any access at all to the RAID volume from Windows, but I'm trying to find a way to run without having to open the chassis and remove the drives everytime I need to boot into Windows.
Does anyone have advice, experience or guidance on this?
System - Mac Pro 6-core (3.33 GHz), 24 GB RAM, Lion (downgraded from ML for PCIe expansion driver compatibility), additional SAS HBA and USB 3.0 cards installed.

    Hi,
I have run all Futuremarks Bench (3D2005; 3D2006 and PCMark2005) but since I'm here at work I don't have the results at hand right now.
Roughly said they are as follows:
    3DMark2005 - approx. 10.800
    3DMark2006 - approx. 6.300
    PCMark2005 - approx. 8.100
When you look at the results on the Futuremark site you must consider that all the top results there came from Systems which are heavily overclocked (CPU and GPU, sometimes water-cooled) and some systems even with dual-graphic-cards installed.
So a direct comparision is almost impossible.
For me my MacPro is more than enough right now, playing Oblivion in 1600x1200 with HDR and almost everthing maxed out.
Didn't measure FPS but it runs as smoothly as I could think of.
I don't regret it at all.
    Have Fun

  • Stuck at startup in FCPX

When i last worked at my project I accidentally quit the program (not a force quit). I think it happened during a background transcoding, but I'm not sure. All I know is that the shutdown of FCPX tok long time.
Now when I try to open it, it stops at the loading screen with the message -Updating "Discus" event. All goes well until it gets to loading the timeline i was working on when I made the accidental quit. Then it just hoggs all processor power and locks at -Updating "Discus" event.
Have i lost all my data? Or can i "just" erase the chapter that it gets stuck on?
    Best regards
    Joakim

Mark - I had the same problem when I upgraded my system to a 6600GT recently. I had a Radeon 9600 and the BIOS set on TURBO, got good scores, stable system. When I installed the 6600GT, it locked up when it tried to find my disk drives. Only clearing the BIOS would let me continue. I now have all the settings back the way I want them - except TURBO. The system benchmarks significantly slower in memory throughput now - that is, the Memory Bandwidth Benchmark (SiSoft Sandra 2005 SP1). My 3dMark2005 went through the roof so it's a decent trade-off, but I want my PC to be all it can be. How do I get my TURBO setting back?!?

  • Help needed about upgrading

My comps specs are as follows:
    Mobo : Asus P4S533 MX 4X AGP 533 MHZ
    Intel Celeron 2.0    L2 : 128 MB
    768 MB DDR 333 Ram (512 + 256)
    80 GB 7200 Rpm Seagate
    NX 6600 GT VTD128 AGP 8X
And the problem is my 3DMark2005 score is 2332 !!!
I know this is not a big problem but what happens if i buy a new mobo and CPU?

Any 128bits ram memory controler, mobo should do, dont buy athlon 64 mobo yet, they are the lastest and in hardware we have a very important rule, allways have the second best hardware because the lastest ones are too expensive and have none compatibility, so take the nforce2, or intel 865 or superior mobo.
    P.S
If you are going to buy an intel mobo, choose the ones made from intel (good and cheap and with soundmax), and nforce2, choose the Abit ones, msi didnt made nforce2 mobos with soundstorm on the onboard audio, they use some realtek crap instead, so, this way you won't need to buy some pci sound card too, because msi onboard audio on the nforce2 mobos sucks!!!

  • Video/Graphics problems

I am having an issue with my new system:
    - I get 4169 3DMarks with 3DMark2001 & 228 3DMarks with 3DMark2005
    - Most graphics lock the system up hard requiring a hard boot, even when set to the lowest level of graphics
    - Other graphics slow the system down so bad that it's totally unusable, screens may update every 4 minutes
+ I've ran Sandra and it didn't detect any problems.
    * Note the games, graphics, etc.  that I'm having problems with were running GREAT on my previous Intel P3 system with same hard drives and graphics cards and with far less memory.
    Configuration
    - MSI Neo 2 Platinum (socket 939) (Bios 1.3)
    - AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    - 2x512MB Corsair XMS Pro (1GB)
    - Nvidia 5200 AGP (128MB)
    - 2940 SCSI card
    - Modem
    - Thermaltake 480W Butterfly Powersupply
    - Koolance watercooled case
    - 2x160GB Western Digital Ultra IDE (RAID 0)
    - Lite On 811S DVD RW+-
    - Lite On DVD ROM
    - Mitsumi floppy
    Please advise...
    Thanks!

Well, it looks like I"m going to go for a new video card.  I've been looking on pricewatch for best price on BFG 6800 GT or Ultra.  I would really LOVE to get the watercooled version, since I have a watercooled case, but that's 50% more than the GT model.
Anybody have recommendations on video cards?  I want to pay for quality card, vs the name on the card.  Your recommendations are appreciated!

  • KT880 Slow 2D Performance with Leadtek 6600GT AGP

    Issues:
2D speed is so slow I can see the background color of most websites as the content is "drawn" line by line over top.
Mouse scrolling causes the screen to fragment slightly
The odd time on a cold boot (system off over 10-20 minutes minimum) I get a beep code of 2 long, and 5 to 7 short. I say five to seven as every time it happens it catches me just as I am walking out of the room.
    Fixes Attempted:
Multiple clean installation of W2K using various combination of Leadtek/VIA Hyperion/Nvidia drivers
Different BIOS options selected (Fastwrite on/off, AGP aperature 64/128/256, FSB 1:1)
    Tests Performed:
Memtest 95+ ran it all day while I was at work
    3DMark2005 run multiple times
Vulcan3D run all day while at work
PCPitstop 2D test reports ~42MP/s (compare this to onboard SiS video at work which is 121.85 MP/s)
I have read the information about PSU issues up top, and I am leaning towards trying this next.
    My current rig is:
    MSI KT880 Delta-FSR (VIA 5.04 Hyperion installed)
    Leadtek 6600GT 128MB (78.05 forceware beta installed w/DirectX 9.0C)
    AthlonXP 2800+
    1GB Micron RAM (PC2100)
    30GB IBM (DTLA 307030) + 120GB WD (WD1200JB)
    NEC DVD-RW (ND-2510A)
Soundblaster Live! 5.1 (Most recent drivers)
Onboard Gigabyte LAN (Most recent drivers downloaded from Microsoft Website)
Windows 2000 (Clean installed with SP4 and all critical updates)
    Power supply: Vantec ION 400B (400W / +3.3V 26A / +5V 30A / +12V 16A)
Now I have seen that 18A should be minimum on the 12V rail, but I have some questions about that. What about a dual rail powersupply like the Enermax EG475P? It has +16A on 12V1 and +15 on 12V2 - would that be enough power?
    The other power supply I am looking at is the Vantec ION2 460N which has specs of: 460W / +3.3V 28A / +5V 30A / +12V 30A
Unfortunately due to cost, and local availability these really are my only two options that look like they might fit the bill.
I am really crossing my fingers that a PSU upgrade will solve my 2D issues as I could not get this card to work properly in 3D in an older system. Now it works awesome in 3D, but 2D is so slow I can watch the screen "wipe" in Internet Explorer.

"...I am just wondering could that account for the 2D speed being so slow?..." Question answered in my last post: First..memory. 2nd PSU.
I apologize about seeming like I was ignoring you - I posted at the same time as you, and did not mean to ignore your recommendations. In any case I tried something that fixed it...  and also ends up I may not have had to buy a PSU. Although it will not hurt in resurrecting my old system for a backup computer. In the BIOS for my system there is an option "Vlink 8X Supported". I set this to disabled on a whim because I recall that was what the default was in my BIOS (only changed it because the manual showed it as enabled), and now my system is running 8X faster than it was in 2D. I still plan to upgrade the memory, but from what I can see I will have to do it fast as only one vendor around here is still carrying it when they all had it last week.
I intend to install the new PSU this weekend as I know that earlier this week I did find that as a recommendation for the beep codes I get on startup. I could swear it was on this board that I found that information, but cannot seem to find it using Google at all anymore.

  • Msi nx6800gt agp atrifact problem pls HELP!!!

    hello all,
well guys need a help, a real bit starnge problem im facing, i got a MSI NX6800GT 256MB DDR3 AGP graphic card, the system boots up well no issues in the 2d mode but when i ran cod2 i faced kind of shall i say pixel sized squares appearing during gameplay the same was noticed playing f.e.a.r also, i chcked the card with riva tuner it showed the card as a proper 6800gt with 16pipelines etc i dont knw whts the problem i tried the same card in my frnds system also, he is running a gainward 6800gt golden sample we noticed the same kind of square artifacts which run all round the screen sometimes very few but i think as the game goes on its more, the card was run at stock speed of 350/1000 and the temp maintains at 62 degrees...
the system tested on had specs amd 3400+ 754 on a asus k8ne dlx mobo, with 1 gb twinmoss ram, an 500w power supply, the 3dmark2005 scroce is 4736pts, an we noticed these spots even during the benchmark....
the driver version used was 71.77 series then we used the 66 series an even msi's default series or drivers but to no avail pls do guide me on this guys it wud be really really helpful...
    regards,
    vicky

    hey richard,
i tired tht also, infact in the very begening the new forceware drivers were used then we tried the others, actually the artifacts are not like polygons or anthying they are square sized pixels tht appear on the screen, the monitor used was a viewsonic 17'' flat screen and the res was 1024 X 768.
we saw some serious square pixels in bf2, cod2 an even fear! 3dmark05 also displayed the same, do you think its a problem with the card or the cooling, the temp of the card remains between 56-62 deg.
we dont wanna underclock te card as i think it wud void the warranty!

  • 925X NEO Plat reboot under load

    Hi all,
After 3 nights trying to find what is wrong with my config, my last hope is that one of you will save me
I recently received my new MB and was quite happy. My problem is that when I start XP SP1, it works ok for a while with a CPU idle at a 70°C temperature.
If I start 3DMark2005, computer works for few minutes, cpu fan speed up and PC crash. On reboot most of the time it freeze with all but the second diagnose led green: ie G R G G.
Does anyone knows what may be the reason.
Moreover, even if with bios I see a high CPU temperature, the CoreCenter complain about an unsupported MB, so no way to check CPU temp under load.
I Flashed my Bios to v1.3, changed PSU from a 350W enermax to a 550W Qmax, tested with various memory configurations, I'm desperate
    Config is :

    4x512MB PC4300 DDR2 Twinmos
    Gigabyte X800XT 256MB

    Hi,
For cpu-temp monitor - Download and install Speedfan
    http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php?ExtraId=1138
To get “auto” cpu temp monitoring in tray, when windows starts –
Go to start / program / find speedfan exe-file (icon) and drag & drop it to autostart.
Then go to speedfan – configure – option – start minimized.
Then configure – check the “right” temp /fans / voltage sensors.
For cpu stress – Download and install Prime95 ( torturetest )
    http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm
Assuming cpu and heatsink are correctly mounted – do you have an overall good airflow in the chassi ( incoming air in front / out in back + sidepanel fan ?)
    Also regarding overall stability.....
At what voltage is the DDR2-memory  settings in bios ?
Have tried increase voltage some ?
    Tested Ram for errors ?
    http://www.memtest86.com/#download0
    You´ll need a dos disc.

  • Overclocking Nvidia GeForce on my G20-129

I installed Coolbits 2.0 on my Qosmio G20 but the new menu on the graphic card settings not appear. With Rivatuner the frequencies are blocced! Does anyone know how to overclock the graphic card? Thanks

It's easy to overclock the graphics card on a G20-126 using Rivertuner 2.0 RC15.8, maybe your machine is similar.
In the Main Tab/Driver Settings, click on the icon to the right of 'customise' where it says 'Forceware detected'. Click on the first picture/ System Settings then on the Enable Driver Level Hardware overclocking box.
    I'm running at 500Mhz/800Mhz for 3D Performance and score 3100 at 3DMark2005.

  • [GeForce 6] 6600GT-VTD128 challenges

    Greatings!
I got this new card last week. Put it in and enjoyed quite a rush compared to my previous MX400. Played Hi-Res Doom, HL2, Riddick, Swat 4, to name a few. The next morning, my screen saver was frozen and wasn't able to unlock it. Told my self, well its been a while since you haven't done a good clean on the OS. So I formated and re-installed XP Pro, with SP1 and all the related chores. Ever since, been having odd problems. Screen flickering, choppy games, etc... So instead of using the bundled drivers for the card, I downloaded the new 71.89 drivers, still no improvement. Boy do I miss the days (1 week ago) when things were flying.
I've been reading pretty much every posts regarding the 6600gt and haven't found anything quite like this.
Of course, all drivers are up-to-date.
My only tought was that it might be related to the PSU. It's a 300W (+12V = 12A), with quite a few items on it. I'm more than willing to change it, however, why did everything work so well for a day? Furthermore, I was curious to test everything on 3DMark05, and after the first test I decided to stop it as I was getting depressed :(   Starts at 16fps and goes down to 3fps. I tryed unplugging all the novelty items and re-run the test but same thing. Not to mention that I've read in quite a few places that the heatsink should get fairly hot, and it's not even breking a sweat. I even tryed removing the power from the card to see and of course the NVidia control advised me that the VGA card requiring power was without it therefore expect lower performance. Tryed benchmark again and this time it was between 1 and 3.  uhmmm, does sound like a power thing, still I'd appreciate it if someone could educate me regarding this. no power =3, 12A = 16, then what do I need to drive this card to its potential? (without OC please)
    I run a P4 2.2 with 2x512Mb DDR (PC3200), MB is a poor ASRock GE-PRO-M.
With my fair logic, I told my self that this had to be driver related as it worked flawlessly for a day, but after turning every rock and installing everything still no decent surges.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Verdicts in: no improvements what so ever. still getting 16fps in 3dmark05's first benchmark. I guess that in order to make sure all is fine, will have to reformat and re-install?
The improvement is knowing you have a supply that will deliver enough clean DC power whenever your system needs it. Which is very important even if it didn't clear up your present problem.
Which going by what you have just posted about 3DMark2005 your video seems to be fine. Unless you have a very expensive card and a faster CPU your not gonna see a much higher score. I just ran the first test with my overclocked 6600GT and overclocked AthlonXP running at around 3650+. The test started at around 22fps then dropped down to around 18 and so on and so. To get some idea of performance we need the total score that 3DMark2005 gives you after all the graphic tests have been run. You should also make sure your not running any Antialiasing or Anisotropic filtering and Vsync disabled before you run 3DMark.
Games like Doom3 and Half-Life 2 are optimized more and don't throw as much work at the GPU as those tests do. You should give Doom3 another try and see how the framerate is running that. It is a more realistic test at this point in time. 3DMark is good for a general idea of performance, but it's not optimized like real games are. 3DMark is good to use when you want to know if your performance has gotten better or worse...but that's about it.

  • [AMD] MSI K8N very slow, maybe overclockers can help?

    I set-up a MSI K8N diamond board with Athlon 64 3200+, Gainward 6600GT GS PCi-E card, 2x512 DDR400 Corsair memory and SATA HD.
The CPU score in 3DMark2005 is 1200 slower than my friend's Asus board with the same specifications and no BIOS tweaking!
    Here's my friend's futuremark scores

And here's mine, as you see it's quite depressing...

I tried a few things to make board faster but to no avail:
    - Upgraded to latest mobo BIOS (1.2)
    - Set settings to Load Optimized Profile
    Same horrible score...
    Then I tried
    - Overclocked to Sergeant
    - Aggresive Timing
    - Disabled Spread Spectrum
    Same crappy scores!
It seems something is wrong with my setup or my board, do you have any suggestions to fix that? Any recommended BIOS settings?
    MSI K8N Diamond
    Athlon 64 3200+
    Gainward 6600GT PCi-E Golden Sample 128Mb
    Corsair (CMX512-3200C2PT) 512MB, DDR400 (x2)
    Maxtor Sata 120G 7200 RPM

I originally had my memory timings set to Auto and then I realised the mobo was running my RAM at 166Hz instead of 200! So I set it to manual at 200, my timings are 2.5,3,3,8. I did get a better performance (CPU score moved from 3400 to 3800 in 3dmark05, but that's still short of 1000 from friend having Asus Mobo with worse RAM than me).
I notice when running Sisoft that it complains about Vcore being set lower than its minimum, it's set at 1.5V in the BIOS btu when I look at Corecenter it's running at just under1.5v. I have a very good PSU (NeoPower 480W) so I don't suspect it is the cause of the problem.
I've tried overclocking and can get slightly better results (3840 in 3dMark05) but nothing like fixing the CPU score inconsistency with ASUS mobo.
I'll try to write down all the settings from the BIOS, in the mean time can you suggest anything to fix the problem? Is anyonelse having such bad scores with Diamond mobo?
