3g Nano+Playlist Folders don't work

Hey Everyone,
Just saw another problem with my 3g Nano+Nike sport kit. If you have a folder of playlist (EG: 'Workouts'), when you go to select a playlist for your workout, it only displays the folder as one huge playlist. If you select the folder it simply starts playing music, instead allowing you to choose a playlist within that folder.
Anyone else experienced this?

I noticed the same thing this evening. I have my playlists, but then when I select one playlist, the songs that should be in the playlist are not there. Instead I get songs from a different playlist entirely with no rhyme or reason. It's VERY annoying!

  • Nano & 20 Gig Don't Work in USB

    Hi all,
So I am the proud owner of a new iPod nano that won't sync up with my PC when plugged in via USB. I also tried this with my 20 gig iPod and get similar results.
I first used the nano with my work PC, and everything went fine. When I came home and plugged it into my Dell, iTunes didn't recognize it, but Windows did as a flash disk. I decided to do a restore of the unit using the latest updater.
When I clicked restore, the updater reported back with an error saying 'firmware update failure. Disk write error.' and my ipod develops the infamous folder of death.
The only way to fix the issue is to plug it into my Powerbook where the device behaves and acts normally. The iPod gets restored and responds to iTunes as it should, but is still unrecognizable on the PC side.
I've done everything as described on the support site to try and fix this problem. I've uninstalled itunes, reinstalled it, etc. I changed the iPod's drive letter, uninstalled the USB drivers Windows reports for the device, and even tried using different USB ports on the PC. Nothing.
On occaision I can get the updater to properly restore the Nano, however it still is not recognized under iTunes...
My last resort is to completely reinstall Windows on a fresh hard drive and start anew. I'd like to avoid this if possible, but it appears as though this is about my only option.
Has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, how were they resolved?

An update, and a good one at that!
I finally got everything working, and iTunes 5.01 made the difference. After the upgrade the 20 gig iPod showed up without a problem via USB, and the Nano as well.
However, the Nano does not like the USB 2.0 hub built into my Dell flat panel. Prior to the 5.01 upgrade the iPod didn't like any USB port attached to my computer (including the ones in the back) but after upgrading it's a much happier story.
I've noticed a number of USB devices don't like these Dell flat panels, and the iPod apparently was no exception. The iPod mounted in iTunes but would not accept any songs. Plugging it directly into the PC solved the issue.
So if you are having USB troubles, upgrade to 5.01. They've apparently fixed a few bugs that were causing us grief.

  • Bookmarks don't work if your bookmark is in a folder, it just doesn't open the folder which has the bookmarks in, though the bookmarks can be accessed through the bookmark manager. Sup?

Bookmark folders don't work, and I can't click the give feedback button, fresh install of FF.

I do and I can't add folders or bookmarks.. And it's pretty hard to set a default theme when I have nothing in addons, extensions, appearance, plugins.
The problem seems to appear(bookmark problem) when I click a folder for the first time, it works perfectly but then when I move my cursor to other folder or just open a new one, it bugs.
Ok, even though you said don't select anything else right now, I selected the disable all addons and now it works perfectly, so when the Firefox 4 Beta 7 was installed it enabled all addons even the ones that aren't compatible with it and that is why I got the problem, maybe change that feature off in the .exe package?

  • Can't expand playlist folders in device view

For ripping audiobooks --- use case, the Harry Potter series --- I create playlists for each CD, then put the playlists for each book in playlist folders.
This works (and looks) fine on the iTunes library side, but when I load the playlist folders onto the device (iPod 7gen, pink...) only the first folder looks right (folder icon) and browses correctly in iTunes (expands and collapses). iTunes displays the second and subsequent folders as if they were playlists and doesn't let me expand them for browsing.
On the ipod the icon is also wrong --- once again, looks like a playlist --- but I can browse the folder correctly using the touch interface.
    Details:
    * iTunes 11.4.1.62  on Windoze
    * iPod 7gen (pink), software 1.0.2
    Weird...Thanks!

LaunchServices is often implicated in drag & drop issues.
Launch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices:
    Code:
    <pre class="alt2" style="margin:0px; padding:3px; border:1px inset; width:640px; height:34px; overflow:auto">/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user</pre>
Then press return. Wait until terminal returns to the command line. Quit Terminal. After that, log out and back in or restart. Let us know

  • All Songs Don't Work

When I try shuffling my songs or just picking a song on my iPod nano, they all don't work, they keep skipping to the next song when I try to fast forward a song. What should I do, should I bring it to the warranty store or something?

If you're going to tell someone that you can't FF within a song by pressing the >> button, then you're wrong - whatever your reasoning is, if you're going to post incorrect information, you will likely be corrected by another poster.
No hard feelings or offense intended. I'm just trying to help the OP.
    Cheers!

  • How do I restore playlist folders from iPod classic to iTunes? The library is intact, but the playlists are not and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch!

After reformatting my HD and reimporting all songs back into iTunes succesfully, the playlist folders are gone and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch. How do I restore playlists from iPod classic to iTunes 11.1.3 without resorting to 3rd party options?

I actually tried that in "my computer" by renaming the drive and then got this:
    g-raid (F:) (H:)
then after reading your reply realized I should try renaming it in "disk management" and hey! it worked.
Thanks a lot for the advice.
Now I don't understand why my back-up drive isn't automatically adding the files when I import into the Ex-HD but I'll figuree it out.

  • Folders for playlists/photos don't show in iPod

My playlists and photos have been carefully sorted into various folders to make navigating them easier.
For some reason, my iPod doesn't display:
    - any playlist folders, or
    - folders beneath the 1st level of hierarchy for photos (aka "deep hierarchies").
I'm guessing I'm not the only one to experience this.
Does anyone know why Apple chose to do this, and, more importantly, we can do to circumvent it? Browsing thousands of photos without a folder structure quickly becomes extremely tedious...
5G   Windows XP Pro   iTunes 7.0.2.16

Less than a zillion. More than 42.
It's useful in my line of work for me to be able to create multiple playlists that fall in different groups; there are often 12-20 playlists per group. Being able to maintain this structure would make browsing them on the iPod so much easier. Given Apple's trend to make things easier, why not provide a checkbox for those of us who would like this? Or, better yet, a checkbox and an automated alert when you reach a certain # of playlists: "FYI, you can enable folder structure in your iPod by doing this.."
Same thing for photos: the folders are nested. It makes finding them much easier... example: Trips/2006/Home, Work/Projects/Abstract. You get the idea.
Now I wait for the off-chance that my feature request would be heeded. In the meantime, if anyone has a workaround...

Since I upgraded to iTunes 11.01 the "Smart" playlists feature no longer works.
I can CREATE the list but, the songs that I have played don't accumulate in the list.
I haven't changed the steps that worked for me previous to the upgrade.
I have no idea how to fix this and can't find mention of anyone else having a similar problem.
    Any suggestions?

Click on a station and drag to the left. The playlists sidebar will open up. Drop on the playlist you want to add to.

  • Playlists with folders - doesn't work

    Brandnew iPod 30 GB, 5.5
Do have playlists with folders on iTunes 7.0.2. Folders don't appear on the iPod. Only the files in the folders. So i get a long long list of playlists on the iPod. Instead of a list with several folders in it for better overview.
    Any hints? Thank you.

You could do it in the past.
Software bug? Will there be a fix in the future?

  • Playlist folders are supported on the new Nano! (and Classic)

    Hi folks,
You may have noticed that in iTunes 7.4, playlist folders now show up when selecting which playlists to sync to your iPod. Originally, people thought this was just cosmetic on the iTunes side.
I am here to tell you now that it is not just cosmetic. The same folders that you create on iTunes will be ALSO shown on your new Nano (and Classic I assume). Previously, the navigation was:
    Playlists->Playlist
    Now it is:
    Playlists->Folder->Playlist
Which also means you can hit Play on the Folder and it will play every playlist within that folder!

Anyone able to figure out how the ipod sorts playlists within folders?
On my itunes I have a folder of playlists for audiobooks. Within that, there's another folder for each nano and then playlists for the books on that nano. In ITunes, they appear in alphabetical order by playlist name, but on the Nano, it seems random: Here's a sample:
    Beaton
    Bond
    Brett
    Fletcher
    Lippman
    Robb
    Stout
    Crais?
    Wren
    Truman?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • IPod Nano, don't works....

I just bought A FREAKING NEW iPod Nano 2G, and installed iTunes and stuff on Vista RC2, it all worked well & fine, until now. I tryd to start it, but nothing happend.. *** is this??? When i connect the ipod on my windows xp pc, it also don't works, nothing....

The information is too vague. How did it stop working, when did it stop working. Does it turn on? Do you get a blank white screen? Does it not turn on?
Did you accidentally slide the HOLD switch on the top of the Ipod to ON? hehe.

  • Is there a way to use my iPod Nano to listen to a radio frequency with wireless headphones.  It tells me that I have to plug in my headphones to receive the stations and when I do, the wireless headphones don't work!

Is there a way to use my iPod Nano to listen to a radio frequency with wireless headphones.  It tells me that I have to plug in my headphones to receive the stations and when I do, the wireless headphones don't work!

No. I'm sorry. But, i think it uses the headphones as an antenna so it has to be plugged in to headphones in order to make it work. but, it burns the battery down so i don't use the radio function that much.

  • I had my Ipod nano 7Gen factory restored. Nano touch is working smooth without any song init but after i have any of the songs shifted from itune touch buttons get messed up. They don't work. Help me in over coming this issue

I had my Ipod nano 7th Gen factory restored. Nano touch works smooth without any song in-it but after i have any of the songs shifted from itunes, touch buttons get messed up. They don't work. Help me in over coming this issue.

    Hello Rohantm,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod nano (7th generation) touch screen.  I recommend the following steps for the issue you described (you can skip the steps you have already tried):
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.
