5.1 Dolby in FCP5?

I downloaded a song that opens in garageband and has a separate track for each part of the song (1 track for the singers voice, 1 for the drums, guitar) ect, and I just want to know if Final Cut Pro 5 can take that song and export it as 5.1 Dolby and have DVDSP burn it to a DVD....possible? If so, is there a somewhat easy way of telling me how? haha. Thanks

FCP canot perform a 5.1 mix. It is primarily a video editing Application.
You will have to have it mixed with Protools or something capable of 5.1 mixing.

  • Dolby Advanced Audio Interface software missing HP Pavilion Ultrabook 14-b003sa

I updated my HP Pavilion Ultrabook 14-boo3sa to windows 8.1 a couple months ago and since then the dolby advanced audio interface software is missing. The speakers are working and sound fine but I just want the option of the equaliser again. I have looked at the drivers available online and the most upto date driver for audio for this laptop is an IDT audio driver from 2012 for windows 8. Is there a more upto date driver that has the interface software? or is it just a case that the software has been removed on the update due to compatability issues? It sounds like dolby advanced audio is still active there is just no interface available as before I updated to windows 8.1. Please help. Thank you.

    Hi Lhawley91,
I understand you are having issues with the Dolby Advanced Audio Interface software missing HP Pavilion Ultrabook 14-b003sa. This package contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio for Windows 8.1.

  • X1 Carbon 2015 : Cracking sound speaker, especially with Dolby on (and other issues)

    Hi all,
I just received my new X1 Carbon 2015. This is the first time I purchase a Lenovo Device after years with Dell.
Unfortunately, the sound quality is horrible, but I am not sure if this is by design of if the laptop is faulty..
The sound is very bad when it is coming from the speakers, especially the left speaker: the sound is cracking and saturating. This is especially true when the Dolby is on, and you clearly hear the problem with standard Windows event sounds (for example the sound you can hear when you adjust the volume with the slide on the sound icon next to the clock), or any warning sound.
No problem if I use an headset.
Am I alone with that issue?
Even if the device looks great, I have to say that I am overall disappointed by the laptop quality, especially regarding the cost of that device (this is the Core i7 with QHD touchscreen and 512GB PciE SSD):
    - When I received it last week, the left button from the trackpad was stuck (impossible to use). I had to gently scratch the side of the trackpad button to release the button. Probably some remains of the manufacturing blocking the button.
    - Then I noticed that sound issue.
    - And finally yesterday, I discovered a spot on the bottom right of the screen. Not a dead pixel, but a clear spot behind the pixels, 1 square millimeter,  reflecting the backlight.
    Thanks
    Pierre

Just had the IBM service tech at my house to replace the left speaker (I had purchased on-site service contract). He replaced it with a new one, and it now sounds normal - the distorted cracking & buzzing is gone. There appeared to be some tiny nicks or cracks on the original speaker element, which may have caused the problem.
The process was fairly painless. Lenovo had the part in stock, shipped it to a local tech, who scheduled the service call within a day.
The sound quality of course still isn't great without external speakers or headphones - these are just tiny little ultrabook speakers, after all. But at least now the sound from the built-in speakers meets my expectations, and doesn't make me cringe when I hear it. Once again enjoying my new Carbon X1...

  • I would like to connect my Apple TV to my receiver using an HDMI cable and pass thru dolby digital. I do not have optical inputs on my receiver.

I want to connect my Apple TV to my receiver using an HDMI cable. This should allow me to pass thru high definition video and simultaneously decode Dolby Digital material with an HDMI connection from my receiver to my TV without the use of an optical cable (my receiver does not have an optical input). I am unable to decode 5.1 material and don't understand why this is not working. In the audio setting I have Dolby Digital output turned on.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Are you sure the content you are playing has Dolby Digital.

  • I have HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but no audio from my new Apple TV.  I have checked all connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru every possible Dolby/Audio combination in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

I have an HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but there is non audio from my Apple TV.  Not for movies, music, YouTube etc.   I have checked all of the connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru all possible Dolby/Audio combinations in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

    Hello again Parker -
The basic setup is Digital Cable Box, DVD Player, Denon Receiver/Amp and TV Monitor.  To that I added the Apple TV.  The Receiver only has two HDMI IN slots (one for cable and one for the DVD) and one out to the Monitor.
[I bought a switcher to toggle the DVD and the AppleTV back and forth but just disconnected the DVD to simplify when I ran in to trouble.]
    So now I have:
HDMI from the Cable Box to the Receiver
HDMI from the Apple TV to the Receiver (in the old DVD slot which always worked well)
HDMI from the Receiver to the Monitor
RCA's from the Receiver to the Subwoofer and the other speakers
In addition I have some backup connections:
S-Video, Optical Audio and L/R RCA's from the Cable Box to the Receiver
S-Video from the Receiver to the Monitor
    Wait - JUST FOUND IT!
By going thru the excercise to track all of the connections per your suggestion, I found an anomaly when I switched Receiver sockets for the HDMI links.  The video moved but the audio didn't.  Turns out the monitor was using the optical audio feed from the receiver.  So I disconnected the optical audio and the monitor automatically switched to the HDMI audio feed!   Looked promising...
So I first connected an optical audio feed from the ATV to the receiver - Audio!  Then I pulled it, but the audio didn't switch to the HDMI feed.  It stopped.  Would be OK if all I was going to use is the ATV, but I need the DVD player too and I can't use a switcher to toggle between them if I have to unplug the optical audio each time.
This is becoming a career!  Any suggestions?
    Will

  • Viewer won't output to NTSC monitor in FCP5.1

    Hello!
I was used to being able to view my clips in the viewer on my ntsc monitor in HD, since upgrading to FCPStudio5.1.1, I can't seem to find an option for this, the manual mentions none, and a search provided no answer related to the viewer. I am able to watch the timeline just fine on my ntsc monitor.
Is this a new change with FCP5?
    Thanks!
    Ymir

I am connected to a Sony mediaconverter via firewire.
It connects to my tv monitor. External video is set to all frames. After refreshing a/v devices, the viewer will now output to the screen when using "gang" setting. If I use sync off, I get current frame its stopped on. Open gives nothing. Is there a way to make gang the default so I don't have to set it for each clip?
    Thanks

  • Dolby Audio driver cannot start after upgrading to Windows 8.1

    Hello.
Windows 8 was the worst thing that happened to Windows, but since I bought this G505s laptop with Win8 pre-installed, i had no other choice to go to. Few days after the purchase, Windows 8.1 arrived and I updated 8 to 8.1 hoping to see some improvements. But to my sadness, 8.1 has ruined my expectations, and Lenovo didn't even care to address the user issues in 8.1
    Here are my Issues :
OneKey Recovery : Updated to 8.xx.xx.xxxx
The OneKey Recovery app tells that 'Current system cannot create a backup'
I can't have a secure laptop without it creating the Recovery !!
Lenovo, please address this issue and fix the OneKey Recovery Problem !!
Dolby audio app : Doesn't open, and if once it starts, cannot configure the Equalizer !

  • Want to learn how to do Dolby 5.1 without paying for Surcode?

If you have ever been interested in trying Dolby 5.1 in a Premiere Pro project that you can export out to a file or Blu-Ray, it is actually easier than you think. There are some very specific steps you need to take to make it work however and there is one very annoying issue that I have escalated with Adobe, but I have found a workaround that is quite effective. My goal of starting this thread is to help others save time discovering all the trial and error I have gone through and also hope others will chime in with any additional information and help with the elusive problem of getting files to play correctly on the ps3. I may make a video to demonstrate if there is enough interest.
Step 1: Setup Audition and Premiere Pro for ASIO and map speakers
You will need to ensure both Premiere Pro and Audition are setup using ASIO for your audio hardware. ASIO will allow you to directly access your sound cards. Depending on your sound card vendor, you may have to install ASIO drivers. In my case, I have a Creative Labs Titanium and they are installed with the sound card drivers. To select in Audition, go to preferences, click on Audio Hardware and under the device class, select ASIO, and under Device, select your ASIO driver. You may also need to map your channels. Under preferences, select Audio Channel Mapping and select the following:
    File Channels      Device Channels
    1[L]                     Front L/R
    2[R]                     Front L/R
    3[C]                     Front C/Sub
    4[LFE]                 Front C/Sub
    5[Ls]                    Rear L/R
    6[Rs]                    Rear L/R
While this may look strange at first, it is pretty straight forward. On the left are the channels internal, and the right are the speakers it will send the sound to. Front L/R actually are actually the individual Left and Right Channels, for some reason they label them both as L/R. When you select the pull-out you will see two entries for Front L/R, the first one is your left channel, the second one is the right channel. The same thing applies to the Front C and Rear L/R labels.
For Premiere Pro, under preferences, choose Audio and select the 5.1 Mixdown type of Front+Rear+LFE. For Audio Hardware, again select your ASIO driver. Under Audio Output Mapping, also select your ASIO driver.
Step 2: Setup your Premiere Pro Project correct.
    a) This one took a bit of looking into and I am proud to say I figured it out before Adobe tech support. For some reason my 5.1 channel would play correctly in audition, but would always play back in Stereo through Premiere, even though it was on a 5.1 audio track. So, the important thing to remember is your "Master" audio has to be set to 5.1. There are more sophisticated methods using submixes, but I will add those to this thread once I experiment with that. Anyway, you can't change a sequence after the fact, so create a new Sequence and under the "Tracks" tab, make sure the master is 5.1.
    b) Now drag your video track onto the new sequence and it will be on a Stereo track...no problem, under the edit menu, select edit->edit in Adobe Audition, and select either the entire sequence or just that clip.
    c) Now click the Multitrack button while in Audition and it will prompt you for a session name. Under Master, choose 5.1.
    d) In Audition, in the files tab, drag your .wav file up into one of the tracks. Cool part is there is a little symbol next to the track label that looks like a diving helmet, click on that and a Track Panner window will come up. You can drag the bubbles around and it will visually show you where the sound will appear. By default the stereo will show sound going to the front left and right channels. I usually pull back a bit and let the sound go into the center channel as well. You can move the sound bubbles around and put the sound wherever you want. If you want to turn off a speaker specifically, then click the little lines next to the speaker representations. Anyway, it is pretty intuitive, but as I mentioned, if there is enough interest I will make this into a training video.
    e) Drag any other sound files or special effects you want onto the other tracks and you can control where that sound goes as well using the same method as decribed in step d.  You will need at least two tracks populated so just drag the same .wav file or add a sound effect or something to another track.
    f) When you are ready to send it back to Premiere Pro, from the MultiTrack menu, select Export to Adobe Premiere Pro. When prompted select "Mixdown session to:: and select 5.1 file.(You have to have at least two tracks for this to work).
    g) Now choose export and when you are back into Premiere, you can select to have it brought into a new track, or an existing one (just make sure it is 5.1 if you go to an existing one).
    h) Now turn off the original stereo track and when you play it back, it should play back in surround sound in Premiere. Choose Window->Workspace->Audio and it will bring up the mixer window. When you play it, for your 5.1 tracks you can see all 5 channels and which channels are being played.
    i) So far so good, the ultimate goal of course is to somehow get it exported to play. If you want to play it on your computer, you have a few choices. You can use Quicktime, H.264 and there are probably a few others. I had the best luck exporting in H.264(the non blu ray option), make sure to export channels to 5.1 and it plays back nicely in Windows Media Player as well and iTunes and uses .aac as the audio codec. It does not play back correctly in Quicktime however, it will play back in Stereo, although I think there is an update that corrects this now (haven't tested it yet).
    j) Ok, that is nice, but my goal was to be able to play it back on my PS3 in my media room, and it didn't recognize any of the 5.1 formats I exported (and I tried several), I couldn't find a combination that it would play at all (video or audio), so it would be great if someone could add to this thread if they know some specific settings that would work (stereo or 5.1). I would really like to be able to serve up the video over the network in 5.1, but I am not hopeful that I will get there...perhaps someone else can figure it out.
    k) Ok, so I know the PS3 will play Dolby via Blu-Ray, so I export my project to Encore but I discover that if Encore has to re-encode the audio, it will always convert it to Stereo, and the only format that it will bring in is an .ac3 file that has the dolby embedded in it. If dolby is already embedded in the .ac3 file, it will play it just fine. For Video, it is easy, just select H.264 Video - Blu Ray. Now, when you go down to the Audio tab you will see a choice for the Codec of SurCode for Dolby Digital. This will actually send out a dolby 5.1 audio .ac3 file...isn't that wonderful? The bad news is, this does not come with your product, you have to shell out another $300 for this privilege. You can trial it for 3 times, but it won't show up as having any available unless you right click on Premiere Pro when you launch it and launch it in administrative mode. When you perform the export and select Surcode, it will do it correctly and you can bring it into Encore which will not retranscode and it works great.  I dont' know about you, but I purchased the full Master Collection and I think it is crazy that Adobe allows you to create and edit in 5.1, but not export it without paying more money. I have filed a complaint, but have not heard back...Adobe technical support also confirmed this is your only option.
However, there is another option. There is a program called OJOSoft Audio Converter
    http://www.ojosoft.com/help/help-audio-converter.html
and it only costs $22. It will convert a .aac 5.1 encoded file and convert it to a .ac3 file..dolby intact! When you lauch it, you just need to remember to click the edit button under the ac3 profile and select "original" under the number of channels. It works great...it doesn't have the same number of options as Surcode, but it does work. I am still mad about the whole Surcode thing, but am hopeful that Adobe will make it right and include it at least in the Master Collection for goodness sakes.
    l) So, the trick is when you export the video using H.264 blu ray, uncheck the export audio. Then choose the "Audio Only" format when you export again, and select 5.1 Channles and I increase the Bitrate to 192 for better quality, this will export a .aac file with the 5.1 embedded. Then just run the OJOSoft converter and bring the converted .ac3 file into Encore. Burn away to blu-ray and you are good to go.
In conclusion, I hope this helps others and if you have more tricks or tips, please add to this thread, I am particularly interested in anyone that can figure out a format that will play over the netowork to a PS3 (Heck I will even take Stereo at this point, but the dream is 5.1).
    Enjoy

    Hi there,
just checking my DD Options for a concert I have recorded with our choir (non Commercial stuff that is) but what irritates me, maybe because your Version of Premiere CC  has been altered, is the following:
" Then choose the "Audio Only" format when you export again, and select 5.1 Channles and I increase ...."
I can unclick Video Export and just leave Export Audio. And if I click Dolby Digital that is the closest I get to it. My Master says 5.1 as I have changed all relevant layers from Stereo into 5.1 and the Levels give me 5.1 as well, but I can neither see any "Audio Only" Format and not choose 5.1 Channels at all. And it does not make any difference wheather I choose the Queue-Option for the media Encoder or Export it straight away. So how come that you got more Options? However, when I could create a "Dolby Digital" (Stereo) file (that Comes up in Premiere) it gives me the ending AC3, but according to my Screen it will only be Stereo. And last time I tried it (some month ago) all I got was noises .... instead of Stereo.
First I wanted to download the Trial Version of Surcode (yet I am not even sure which one to pick from their webside ... the normal 5.1 code? And then: a few weeks ago, when I started hunting down Options for 5.1 sounds (actually it is mostly the audience "noise" that has to come from the Speakers) I learned from one webside that Pinnacle for their studio and the Surcode would only cost like 10 Dollars extra and some People would ask why on Earth are they getting that Option whilst Adobe is charging a month income (well a Little less). So maybe Pinnacle has much better Connections to that Company. Yet, if I look at other Prices they have, then only companies who are well off, can afford that. Or rich People. So as a private Person, who want to give People "simple" Surround Sound, that has become so normal, is basically screwed.
However: I wonder if I can get any advice. Currently I do render all stuff with the Options I have (yet for iPad, the QuickTime-Option has to be done seperately because there is no Action in the Encoder if I put it in the Queue. BluRay and DVD have been accepted but no Quicktime. Well I still got til the Weekend to get it sorted and then the 4-disc-set (BD, DVD, DVD-Rom (with files for iPad, iPhone, Android in various sizes as People have various RAM on their devices) and CD - already delivered) will have to be ready.
Thanks for any reply in advance.

  • ATV3 - I need to enable dolby digital for optical surround sound (netflix and home movies), but when I do this it stops audio coming through TV speakers

I have a cinema sound receiver connected to Apple TV via optical cable.  When I have dolby digital set to Auto it doesn't come through as dolby digital when watching movies on netflix and iTunes (home movies).
If I set Dolby Digital to ON it works as expected, but the sound stops working through normal TV speakers (via HDMI).  This is the same for netflix and home movies.
I tried 16 bit setting, but it made no difference.
Any advice on how I can get this working - meaning Dolby Digital always on for when I turn my surround sound on and sound through speakers for normal operation?
Obviously I can change the setting when needed, its just a pain.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello everyone,
here is the friendly and signed driver installation method to enable Dolby Digital Plus in your Encore internal speakers only. This is not an official driver, there is no control panel for Dolby Digital Plus or various sound effects, but tested and has much better and richer surround sound quality as before with factory driver. I guess, this driver tweak can work with any Bay Trail tablet also.
How can you upgrade Encore sound drivers:
    1. Download signed driver package and extract.
    2. Open Device Manager.
    3. Upgrade your Sound, Video and game controllers
    - Intel SST Audio Device
    - Realtek I2S Audio Codec
one by one with "Have a disk" method.
    4. Double click enabledolby.reg file and add to your registry.
    5. Restart, and enjoy better sound quality.
    Thanks.

  • How do i recover the drivers that came with the delivery? (Dolby problem after 8.1update)

    Hello there community!
    I have a burning question.
I recently bought a thinkpad edge 540. Which came preinstalled with windows 8.
When i updated to 8.1 I lost my dolby audio, this seems to happen a lot more, reading through this community.
There is a solution for that, to just reinstall the audio input and output device with the drivers that came with the delivery. However, and here is my problem.
In the solutions given, they are talking about a section on the hard drive that should contain the drivers. In most cases E:\DRIVERS.
Unfortunately, thats not the case with me. I know there is a recovery partition, but i cant see it within windows.
I used this to reset to the factory defaults already, but i cant find a drivers section.
Im hesitant to update again to 8.1 now, because it gave me several issues. One of them was the intel wifi driver, which was hard to resolve in the beginning, but also now the DOLBY audio.
Can anyone tell me, where to find the drivers? or is it just not possible?
I dont have a drivers section, or partition on my hard drive anyway..
Can you guys please help me out? Since i like the dolby feature, and it would be a shame to not be able to update to 8.1. (safety issues and features).
I know there are more people encountering this problem, but the solution to just use the preinstalled driversection.. is not an option for me, sadly. Or perhaps I am wrong..
Any help is greatly appreaciated! Thanks guys!

You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you may be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download however they are not under any obligation to do so. The policy on lost songs is that you have to pay to download them again:

If this problem will stay restart the computer. I have Czech Wins that's why it should be little bit different. After restart the computer the note is there again. hi Sperl19,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Your Dolby may not be synced with the Audio driver after the update,
Since Audio driver may had been updated by the 8.1 but not the Dolby app.
    Here's what to do:
    Open Device Manager
Uninstall the Audio Device Under Audio inputs and outputs
Then proceed to Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall a Program
                         Uninstall all Dolby Related programs
                                 Restart if Prompted
    Now install this software driver
     Conexant Audio Driver
Now open Drive C: on the upper right hand side of the screen you will find a Search pane
Type in "aa" and hit search
You should find 1 of the result as dolby or if not post a screen shot of the results here
If ever you found it install that and it should bring your dolby back
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!

    hi Grace,
Try Opening Control Panel and change the view to Small icons
You should find a Dolby icon in there,
    If not
Open Device Manager and uninstall the Sound adapter (Conexant) under Sound and game controllers. make sure to place a check under Delete driver software for this device.
    Restart if prompted
    Then install this driver
     CONEXANT Audio Driver
After Installation open My computer / C: drive / Drivers or Conexant / Dolby GUI and install the Dolby Advanced Audio there
    Hope this helps
    Cheers!
