500 records returned in query

I have an application with returns over 550 records. One of the queries that I need to run must display all these records, but HTML-DB seems to only display no more than 500 records. Is there a way to display all 550 records.

In the "Report Attributes" Goto Section "Layout and Pagination" & put the value of say 1000 to "Max Row Count" parameter.
This will solve the problem.
You need to put the value which u can think of the MAX for the number of rows reqturned.

interestingly enough, the reference guide for CMIS ( http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/CMIS_Query_Language ) that I found does not mention the COUNT function at all. On the other hand it states that: "The SELECT clause identifies which virtual columns to return in the result set. It can be either a comma-separated list of one or more queryNames of properties that are defined by queryable object types or * for all virtual columns."
There are, however, some other posts like e.g. http://alfrescoshare.wordpress.com/2010/01/20/count-the-total-number-of-documents-in-alfresco-using-sql/ which state that they could make it working.
Having asked in the WebCenter Portal forum, I assume that your content repository is WebCenter Content. The CMIS doc for the Content is available here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e15813.pdf (no COUNT there either). It does, however, mention explicitly that "CMIS queries return a Result Set where each Entry object will contain only the properties that were specified in the query.". This means your could rather investigate the Result Set. Note that there are also other means than CMIS how to get the requested result set (e.g. calling a search service directly via so-called RIDC).
In the given context I am also interested what your use case is. OOTB CMIS in WebCenter Portal is used, for instance, in Content Presenter, where it is content rather than "parameters" what's displayed.

Web client returned different no. of records in same query

May anyone can help me ?
I am now using Web Client 9.2.0.0.196 Windows XP.
I am only an user to retrieve records using one static query thorugh Hyperiion Interactive Reporting Web Client for business purposes. The back-end database would be updated monthly.
We set the request and filter within one Dimension of the query. However, I tried the query 10 times, the number of records returned was different.
I trired to set filter with different values. Sometimes, it gave me correct number of records and sometime it could not.
My IT team reported that the Expert of Hyperion Verdor also cannot resolve my problem.

As you are using the Web Client there are many parts involved in the process of your running a query.
Below is an example of a very basic path a query takes to DB
1. PC- Web Browser with Web Client
2. Web Server
3. Application Server
a. Hyperion BI Server
b, Hyperion DAS - Data Access
4. Database.
Anywhere between 1 and 4 there may be firewalls, network switches etc.
If you are getting unexpected results on you query then I would start with taking the Query/SQL being sent via the Web Client and trying it on a SQL Client Tool for that Database from your PC and see what you get.
Other Troubleshooting actions:
- Have DBA monitor the Database and see if they can capture your SQL being sent and see if they can see if there are problems on DB.
- Have Hyperion Administrator look at the Logs for the BI Server, DAS and Usage Tracking to see if there are any anomolies.
- I would see if you are experiencing the same problem from a different workstation.
- Check for Network Time Outs....How long is it taking for your Query to Run? Maybe you are dropping connection somewhere in the process.

I would like to handle
1) the number of records our report query returns or
2) the query itself
to write a better pl/sql code in any trigger/program unit, if any business logic beckons in future.

How to find lasts query and his results(number of record returned)

sorry for my english.
My scenario: i have 3 select below....
first select: select 1 from dual;
second select select 1 from dualXXXX; (this table/view/synonym, etc,etc NOT exists in DB)
third select select 1 from dual where 0=1;
my question is:
how and where i can find (in system table for example) the latest query and the right or wrong excecution?
I.E. for the first query the results is OK (with 1 record returned)
for the second query the results is KO (the table not exists)
for third query the results is OK( but whit 0 record returned).
There is this information stored somewhere?

Returned records different in query to workbook

We are using Bex Analyser version 7.
I have a pending invoices query embedded in a workbook. If I refresh the query within the workbook, I get 3 fewer records than if I run the same query on its own.
When I identified the 3 invoices concerned I could see that they have a zero key figure values. I haven't suppressed zero records in the query but they appear to be suppressed in the workbook.
Has anybody got any suggestions for amending my workbook so that I get all the records?

Please not that I am insertin the query into a table called Query_list and the page item values into the table called Debug thru the pl/sql function which returns teh query.

PL/SQL function body returning SQL query - ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error

I'm attempting to dynamically generate a rather large SQL query via the "PL/SQL function body returning SQL query" report region option. The SQL query generated will possibly be over 32K. When I execute my page, I sometimes receive the "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error" which points to a larger than 32K query that was generated. I've seen other posts in the forum related to this dynamic SQL size limitation issue, but they are older (pre-2010) and point to the 32K limit of the DNS (EXECUTE IMMEDIATE) and DBMS_SQL. I found this post (dynamic sql enhancements in 11g) which discusses 11g no longer having the 32K size limitation for generating dynamic SQL. Our environment is on 11gR2 and using ApEx 4.2.1. I do not know which dynamic SQL method -- DNS or DBMS_SQL -- ApEx 4.2.1 is using. Can someone clarify for me which dynamic SQL method ApEx uses to implement the "PL/SQL function body returning SQL query" option?
As a test, I created a page on apex.oracle.com with a report region with the following source:

The dbms_output section is there to be able to run this code in SQL*Plus and confirm the size of the SQL is indeed larger than 32K. When running this in SQL*Plus, the procedure is successful and produces a proper SQL statement which can be executed. When I put this into the report region on apex.oracle.com, I get the ORA-06502 error.
I can certainly implement a work-around for my issue by creating a 'Before Header' process on the page which populates an ApEx collection with the data I am returning and then the report can simply select from the collection, but according to documentation, the above 32K limitation should be resolved in 11g. Thoughts?

What setting do you use in your report properties - especially in Type and in Region Source?
If you have Type="SQL Query", then you should have a SELECT statement in the Region Source. Something like: SELECT .... FROM ... WHERE
According to the ERR-1101 error message, you have probably set Type to "SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)". In this situation APEX expects you to write a body of a PL/SQL function, that will generate the text of a SQL query that APEX should run. So it can be something like:

And for escaping - are you interested in escaping the LIKE wildcards, or the quotes?
For escaping the wildcards in LIKE function so that when the user enters % you will find a record with % and not all functions, look into the SQL Reference:

(You would than need to change the code of your function accordingly).
If you are interested in escaping the quotes, try to avoid concatenating the values entered by the user into the SQL. If you can, use bind variables instead - as I have in my example above. If you start concatenating the values into the text of SQL, you are open to SQLInjection - user can enter anything, even things that will break your SQL. If you really need to allow users to choose the operator, I would probably give them a separate combo for operators and a textfield for values, than you could check if the operator is one of the allowed ones and create the condition accordingly - and than still use bind variable for inserting the filtering value into the query.

How to e-mail/not e-mail a scheduled report based on records returned

Hi Everyone,
Is there a way that there can be logic performed on a report that has been scheduled and ran before it gets sent via e-mail to the end users? We have scheduled reports that often end up with 0 records returned but users still get the e-mail with the report that contains 0 records. I would like to e-mail the reports only if the records returned is greater than 0.
We are on v3.1 so if there is a solution for 3.1 that would be great. If this capability exists in 4.0, that information would be very helpful as well.

Apply an event on your report.
First go to Cmc, create an event based for example on a file that should be created in certain route if the query won't return 0 rows.
Then apply this event in your report Schedule option Event.

On Submit process not firing -report (PL/SQL function returning SQL query)

Can anyone suggest possible causes / solutions for the following problem?
I have a report region that uses a PL/SQL function returning SQL query. The report allows the user to update multiple fields / rows and then click a button to submit the page which should run the On-Submit process to update the database. However the process does not run and I get a 'HTTP404 page cannot be found' error; and when I navigate back using the Back button I cannot then navigate to any other page in my application without getting the same error. The button was created by a wizard selecting the options to submit the page and redirect to a (same) page. The button does not actually have a redirect in its definition but the wizard created a branch to the same page which should work and the button has the text 'submit as SUBMIT' next to it so it appears to be set up correctly.
I have recreated this page several times in my application and I cannot get the On-Submit process to run. However I have created a cut down version of the same page in the sample application on apex.oracle.com at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=4550:1:179951678764332 and this works perfectly so I am at a loss to understand why it does not work in my application. I cannot post any part of the application itself but if anybody would like to check out page 30 of the sample application (Customer Update Test tab) updating the surnames only, using credentials ja, demo, demo this is pretty much what I have got in my application.
Any ideas would be much appreciated?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have now identified that the problem goes away when I remove the second table from my report query. The original report query retrieved data from two tables and the process was updating only one of the tables. I thought I had approached the task logically i.e. first get the report to display the records from the two tables, then get the process to update the first table and finally to modify the process further to update the second table.
Can anyone point me to an example of multiple row updates on multiple tables using a PL/SQL function returning an SQL query?

Pl/sql function body returning SQL query - Print function

Hello all,
I have pl/sql function body returning SQL query for my reports for my new project that I am developing. We dont have any BI tool or anything for APEX so we use Oracle reports to get the same reports to be printed in PDF format. I had been using SQL function for Reports all these days and grabbing the data using SQL query was easy in Oracle reports. But this time we had atleast 8 fields in search criteria and hence I thouhgt PL/sql function body returning SQL query could be something easy to handle that scenario. We have 11 such reports in our project. Now when we tried to use the same PL/sql function to oracle reports , I was told by one of our Oracle reports expert, that we have to write it into functions and use it in SQL query to get the Reports in Oracle reports. Is there any Easy way to convert the same Pl/SQL function or get a PDF format of the same report in APEX without going thru the much pains of rewriting the whole SQL Query.

SQL Query (PL/SQL Function Body returning SQL query) doesn't return any row

I have a region with the following type:
SQL Query (PL/SQL Function Body returning SQL query).
In a search screen the users can enter different numbers, separated by an ENTER.
I want to check these numbers by replacing the ENTER, which is CHR(13) || CHR(10) I believe, with commas. And then I can use it like this: POD IN (<<text>>).
It's something like this:
If (:P30_POD Is Not Null) Then
v_where := v_where || v_condition || 'POD IN (''''''''||REPLACE(''' || :P30_POD || ''', CHR(13) || CHR(10), '','')||'''''''''')';
v_condition := ' AND ';
End If;
But the query doesn't return any rows.
I tried to reproduce it in Toad:
select * from asx_worklistitem
where
POD IN (''''||REPLACE('541449200000171813'||CHR(13) || CHR(10)||'541449206006341366', CHR(13) || CHR(10), ''',''')||'''')
==> This is the query that does't return any rows
select (''''||REPLACE('541449200000171813'||CHR(13) || CHR(10)||'541449206006341366', CHR(13) || CHR(10), ''',''')||'''')
from dual;
==> This returns '541449200000171813','541449206006341366'
select * from asx_worklistitem
where pod in ('541449200000171813','541449206006341366');
==> and when I copy/paste this in the above query, it does return my rows.
So why does my first query doesn't work?

End If;But now I want to make an update of all the records that correspond to this search criteria. I can give in a status via a dropdownlist and that I want to update all the records that correspond to one of these POD's with that status.
For a region you can build an SQL query via PL/SQL, but for a process you only have a PL/SQL block. Is the only way to update all these records by making a loop and make an update for every POD that is specified.
Because I think this will have a lot of overhead.
I would like to make something like a multi row update in an updateable report, but I want to specify the status from somewhere else. Is this possible?

Periodic Alert-How to send all the records returned from the SQL in a mail?

Hello all,
I have defined a Periodic Alert, my SQL query returns more than one record whenever I run it. I also defined an action to send an email with the message consisting of the output variables from the SQL. Whenever i run this alert, a mail is being sent for every single record returned from the query. But i want to send a single mail containing all the records information that my SQL query returns.
For Example: My SQL query lists all the users created on current date.
Select User_Id, User_Name into &OUTPUT1, &OUTPUT2
from fnd_users where trunc(creation_date) = trunc(sysdate)
Now i want to send a mail with all the users information from the above query, to SYSADMIN. How can this be achieved?

Hi Chakoo,
If the Periodic Alert is not working as requried. You can write a simple package with 3 procedures to implement the writing output to a out file and simultaneuosly send email to multiple receiptents.
Example:
Create Package xx_pac
Create public Procedure P1
begin
Select User_Id, User_Name into &OUTPUT1, &OUTPUT2
from fnd_users where trunc(creation_date) = trunc(sysdate)
fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, &OUTPUT1, &OUTPUT2);
end;
(Create private Procedure P2
begin
---Write the email package using the UTL_SMTP approch. Using this approch you can send the procedure P1 output file as an attachment to the desiginated receiptents.
end;
(Create public Procedure P3
begin
---call the procedure P1 using the "g_request_id = fnd_request.submit_request"
---Wait for the above procedure to complete using "l_conc_status := fnd_concurrent.wait_for_request" procedure.
---call the procedure P2. (When called you must provide the correct to, from address)
end;
end;
Register the Package xx_pac as a concurrent program and schedule when submit it from the request.

Counting records after a query

I am running a query and I want to display the number of records retrieved during the query. I have researched the COUNT_QUERY built-in and tried to assign the value returned by this built-in to a variable. (It doesn't work.) I have used the the following statement within the WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger for a Push Button on my form:
SELECT COUNT(:BLOCK.ITEM)
INTO :BLOCK.ITEM2
FROM DUAL;
This statement is not providing a valid number for the number of records returned.
Is there a function that I can use to count the number of records returned from a query?

Create a display item to hold the count value. Then open the data block properties and under advanced database set precompute summaries to "yes". Then in your display item properties set the summary function to count; the summarized block to the block_name; and summarized item to any block item you would like to count.

Giving error when tried to display 500 records

Hi,
There is a MessageChoice and a table in my OA page.
When I change the MessageChoice value, the coressponding records will display in the table.
It is working fine for few options which have few records.
But for one option there are 500 records, its giving 'Page cannot be displayed' error after some time.
Can anyone help me on this.

If your query is taking 6 minutes to execute, then try to tune it. I don't think any user will accept this and moreover its well over the page timeout time limit.
