5800 download

hey frds d download icon in d menu of my 5800 has got corrupt ven ever i try to open it it say 'inrecoverable error occured closing application'.,..,wat can b done??

Yes I do have it on my phone,I had it just before I reset my phone too and it replaced the Download! icon but now it's in my applications folder. I hardly ever use it anymore though because whenever I try to download something it says "download failed" or when I'm just browsing it it closes itself. It never used to do that and it's quite annoying.
If Ovi Store replaced the download! icon the what happened to the .zip file opener? I have frequently read that the 5800 is capable of opening .zip files but oddly whenever I touch a zip file it opens the Ovi Maps application

  • 5800 Download! menu icon missing

A while ago my 5800XM locked up and I had to reset it to the original factory settings. After that my phone worked perfectly but whenever I tried to open the "Download!" icon thing it said something like "Fatal error has occured -shutting down" and wouldn't open. Then I updated my phone a few days ago to V 51.0.006 and I opened the menu to find that the Icon had completely gone! I wasn't that disappointed because I thought it was just a link to an app download site or something but I recently read somewhere that it has stuff like a .zip opener and I really need something like that on my phone. Does anyone know what has happened and how I can get it back???

  • 5800 Download! error

I have Nokia 5800Xpressmusic, the problem came up when I was trying to download some application using “Download!” icon i.e. MENU~DOWNLOAD!
This message is come up “An unrecoverable error has occurred. Shutting down”
Please note that I just upgrade the phone software (V 20.0.012) but I still have the same problem. Kindly advice.
    Thanks in Advance

Did you do the update over the air or by Nokia Software Updater? OTA updates are patches rather than full wipe-and-reinstalls, so the problem may have stuck.
I've not heard this issue reported, some 5800XM users are getting unexpected certificate errors installing apps from Download! but your problem seems new. I know you've already done a software update, but try also a reformat (*#7370#), if that doesn't solve things you might have to get to a Nokia service point to have it looked at.

  • 5800 download button disabled

I have recently updated my nokia ovi on the cellphone.
Now I am not able to download any app which I had previously downloaded too.
If I go to 'my stuff', and select an app, the download button becomes grayed and is disabled.
Please tell me how to correct this thing.
    tw ge

I'm sorry but your answer isn't of any use and i am suffering the very same issue.
What is actually happening is that even though I have removed the applications from the 'my stuff' list, (record of downloaded software) the application download buttons are still disabled.
It has nothing to do with the phone as you suggest, the problem is with Ovi website. for I have clean booted my N97 with a hard reset and wanted to reinstall all previous applications. however since the Ovi site update, I have been unable to do so.
All software that I wish to re-download has been removed from the 'my stuff' listing. so in theory the software should now become available again for download (as it used to be in the older version of Ovi). Yet I cannot select the software for download, no matter what I do, it seems that either Ovi never clears it's cahe or they choose to prevent users from downloading FREE software once they have downloaded it. (unlikely).
So come on, someone from Ovi, please research this problem and come back with a solution or at least a proper reply.

  • Maps not launching (Nokia 5800)

I have recently purchased a Nokia 5800, downloaded Ovi maps, checked for current upgrades(my software is 50.xxx.xx.x)  etc but when I attempt to launch maps nothing happens and I am returned to the menu page. Can anybody help..?

    Hi alfie006
Just to elaborate on post by farby when you say "downloaded OVI Maps" do you mean that either you downloaded regional mapping 5800XM with microSD inserted or that you updated particular version of OVI Maps application installed on device?
When you say that "nothing happens on attempting to launch OVI Maps" do you mean application opens then crashes or doesn't open at all?
If it opens then crashes it usually means that you should delete E:\CITIES + .qf file from memory card, re-start OVI Maps when you get a setting up progress bar which re-defines folder structure on microSD required by Maps facility within OVI Suite on your PC.

  • How to download the last s/w of 5800 to pc

how to download the last s/w of 5800 to pc then installing to mobile phone
without connecting mobile to pc the download it
without direct connection mobile to internet

What you are asking is not possible.
Nokia Software Updater requires that your phone be connected when you run it so that it can identify the precise model (there are literally hundreds of subtly different 5800s) and pull down the matching software.

  • 5800 wont download using wlan

When at home i connect my 5800 xm to my wlan to use the internet and download apps. but for some reason when ever i am downloading anything (eg just updated ovi maps) it will connect to t-mobile internet to download although i can see that my homes sky broadband is still connected. is there a setting somewhere that i should use to make sure when at home all internet is done through home broadband and wlan. my priorities are showing that my sky wlan is top so i am really confused.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Grimbo80
I don't know whether this is a T-Mobile branded version and trying to make you utilize a network connection.  Try starting a browsing session > Options > Settings > General > Access Point > change to "Always ask" and then you should see WLAN under "Internet" banner when you try to access web.

  • 5800, Nokia Maps download error

    Hi all,
I've just performed a factory reset on my nokia 5800 Xpressmusic. Now I cannot get the maps to download, I keep getting a server error after a few minutes.
I can run on the phone, but with no maps installed can't see a lot, though it does obtain GPS connection.
I also cannot install the update for OVI maps (currently running V3.04)
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Ovi Suite (3.1.1.85)
I've updated firmware and other apps through Ovi Suite (FW: 52.0.007)
I'm about to reinstall the Firmware to see if that helps.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?
    Does anyone have a fix?
I can see a few N8 issues today, but that seems to be with bluetooth, whereas mine is plugged in with the usb lead.
    Thanks

i too am having a problem with the free music from universal music. from my experience, it seems that if you download a music or video, your credit is deducted but there is no download process.. i think 5800 units that are sold here in the philippines are the only ones having free 500 music/video download. i think the download site is fake cause your credit gets deducted even when there is no download process and if you google/yahoo search it (the download site) it never seems to be on the results. man, in having many problems with this 5800, like converting videos i downloaded from the net to a suitable format for the 5800,

  • Download on 5800

I am facing an issue with download on my 5800. Everytime i go to download it gives me an unrecoverable error and shuts down the application. I am able to browse the internet just fine otherwise. I guess some hanging download has corrupted something. Does anyone has any idea on how to rectify it.

How about reflashing it with the NSU or to send it to the Service Center to relash it? It saves a lot of grief and guessing game.

  • Comes With Music / Nokia 5800 problems downloading...

I've just got a new 5800 with Comes With Music and I'm having lots of problems! Hopefully you can help?!
Problem 1 - the main problem! Downloads don't add to phone's music library
The main problem is with downloading songs directly using my phone. Songs I download (using the mobile, not the PC) don't get added to my music library, and refreshing the music library dowsn't help. If I go to the music store, select 'options' and 'downloads' I can see a list of all the songs I've downloaded. If I select 'open' I can play the songs (one at a time), but they don't get added to the music library. If I press 'delete', I'm told 'File not found'. When I connect to my PC, I can't see these songs using the Nokia Music software, so can't transfer them to the PC. All very strange. Any ideas for how I can get these songs to add to the library?
Problem 2 - Nokia Music software
This is just irritating rather than anything else. When I plug my phone to my PC and use Nokia Music, the little phone icon has the caption 'Nokia N95'. But the phone I've connected is a 5800! My old phone was an N95...
At first this meant I couldn't sign up to CWM using my pin, because I was told it isn't compatible with this phone. So I had to sign up using the phone rather than the PC, and then use the log-in details on the PC to access music. This has worked and means I can download songs to my PC and transfer them to my phone, but it was a pain to get there.
Problem 3: Nokia Music website doesn't work
To add insult to injury, when I look for some help on the nokiamusic.co.uk website I'm told I need a new flash player. So I download the new flash playe, and I'm still told I need a new flash player. Brilliant. Incidentally, at the bottom of the page it says"Click here if you're quite sure to have Flash Player installed" which is gramatically a lot of nonsense.
I've always got on well with Nokia, but frankly I've had a nightmare week trying to get this new phone up and running and I'm very disappointed with them. The help-line isn't much use either. Anyway, any help on the above would be really greatfully received.
    Ryan

    Hi!
For your first problem, are you accessing Nokia Music Store on your mobile through the webbrowser or via the application in Music Menu? If you are using the web browser, try using the application.
If you are using the application already, have you tried with different access points? (i.e. WLAN, different operator interet access points) Also make sure that you have a memorycard in your phone which is compatible with the device, might be worth trying to re-format it and then try again?
For your third problem, have you tried to access nokia music store through Nokia Music program on your PC? (Click on Store tab). And which browser are you currenlty using to access it?

  • 5800 - can't delete downloaded ap

    Hi,
I got my 5800 yesterday and it's the first time I've had a phone with Symbian software.
Last night I downloaded a game 'marble revolution 2' and saved straight to my phone.
The download said free and it wasn't until I started the game I realised it was only free for 2 hours!
I am now trying to delete/remove the game and it just won't budge. It just stays there on my phone annoying the hell out of me and wasting memory.
Any idea's on how to delete it, preferably without a factory restore?
    Solved!

Hi, if you have installer in use warning, turn phone off and remove battery for a couple of minutes, then boot back up and go to application manager, installed apps and remove. You can also go into Office-file manager, find item you want to remove and delete it. Hope this helps.
    Good Luck
ps Don't install anything onto your phone memory unless there is no other choice, always install to E:Mass memory or to memory card (less 'valuable' memory)
