5800 Micro SD card recommendations

Does anyone know what the official recommendation for a third-party (SanDisk, Patriot, etc.) Micro SD card is for the 5800?
Also, does anyone have an experience to share about this? I am thinking another 8GB or even a 16GB.

I am sure the official recommendation is to use genuine Nokia branded memory cards such as this one.

If you choose to get a 3rd party card, stick to reputable brands such as Sandisk. Cheaper cards could result in problems with the phone from data corruption.
If getting a card, go for the higher speed cards. Cards are marked Class 2,4 or 6. The higher the number the faster.

  • 5800 micro sd card problem, wont turn on!

    Hello!
After I uninstalled google maps (from my 16 gb memory card) my phone froze. I took out the battery and when I tried to
turn it back on I got the white screen and then black screen with all lights on but the phone would not turn on. I changed to my 8gb memory card and now the phone works fine! If I change the card to 16 gb while the phone is on it freezes again.
Is there anything I can do with my 16 gb card, can I format it or reset it within the phone?

there might be a corrupted file in the memory card that prevent the phone from starting correctly.
format the card using a pc, and then insert it to the phone and format it again. that should work.

  • Recommend a (USA) micro SIM card for a factory-unlocked iPhone 4s?

Could be a simple question but I can't find the answer: I bought a factory-unlocked iPhone 4s (from Apple)  for use while traveling abroad (mainly China). I already have a Chinese SIM card to use while I'm China.  I just got the iPhone delivered to me in the US and I want to get it set up and tested before I travel back to China.
But I'm a little confused about where I can get a micro SIM card in the US  to pop into the phone for a couple of days just to get it set up and running (I don't need a lot of time on the card).
Can I just pop into any AT&T or T-mobile store and pick up a micro-SIM card that will work?

Hi, thanks for your answer. I just got off the phone trying to clarify this with AT&T. They tell me that they also have something called a "Go" card that I can get for my (factory-unlocked) iPhone that works without a plan. But, as you pointed out regarding the T-mobile card, it sounds as if I don't get full service on the iPhone. They told me that I won't be ablet to browse the web via the card, only when I'm connected via Wi Fi.
I am headed out to try to find a card today and will update this thread with any further discoveries.

  • New Curve not recognizing an 8gig micro SDHC card

Hi - I am totally new to the BB and to this forum. Here's my dilemma - I just bought and "installed" an 8gig micro SDHC card last night. The phone does not recorgnize it. First when I went to take video, it told me to install a formatted card. When I try to format, I get the message "Media Card Format Failed". I have tried many times, checked on how it looks in it's spot behind the battery, etc. Everything else seems OK. Any help??
    Thanks much.

What I can deduce from my experience is that one should not buy a SDHC card if you've got a curve 9300 or 9330 phone. Even if the SP tell you the model is compatible with the technology, blackberry specs only mention that SD cards are accepted

    Hello,
Sorry...but wrong. The only difference between SD and SDHC is the capacity of the card. SD goes up to 2GB (officially...some have labeled themselves SD but go to 4GB). SDHC goes from 4GB to 32GB. HC simply stands for "High Capacity." More information is available in the Wiki:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital
So, while the BB specs may only say "SD", they must include SDHC since they further indicate the capacity of Media Cards that various OS levels support:

  • Micro SD card not recognised

I have a 32 GB Sandisk Micro SD card. After DP 8.1 it was not being recognized in my Lumia 525.I had forgotten to remove my SD card during the update. Now it is not being recognized in any device. I have tried in a SD card reader, Samsung Galaxy Pop, Lumia 520, Nolia 2700, Nokia 6630 and Nokia 5800.
I had a similar issue in the same SD card on Samsung Galaxy Pop, when I removed the SD card without dismounting it. It was locked to that device. I don't remember how I got it working again. I think I just put it in the same device and it started working again.
I have restored my Lumia 525 back to WP8, but it is still not recognizing my SD card.
Also I am unable to download games such as Asphalt 7 and NOVA which I got free as a promotion while buying the phone. Previously if I click buy, It used to say that you already own this game and I can download. Now It says that This game is not available for your device.
    Please help.

Hi, Wildsdi. Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions. For your MicroSD card concern, have you tried using another SD card on your phone? This is for us to isolate if this is an accessory-related. As for the apps, are you referring to the Gamesloft app promotions? Where do you see the error and how are you trying to reinstall them? Is it via the website (windowsphone.com) or through the Store app? Since this promotion has ended, the Store will require you to purchase them again.

  • Sony ICD-PX333D won't recognize micro SD cards

Bought the recorder almost two months ago but it never could recognize a micro SD card.  I have tried different brands and capacities but nothing worked.
I have been talking to Sony suppor for a month now but they provided no real solution.  I followed the links they sent me to the T but none of their suggestions worked.   I made a Youtube video to show them that I did follow the steps and that they didn't work.  But Sony support said they didn't have access to check out a Youtube video.
Just two weeks ago Sony told me that this device wouldn't support any external memory.  Now they're saying the problem was my cards.
I noticed there are couple other members with the same problem and one seemed to have their problem solved.  I followed the advices given in that thread but they didn't work for me.
I tried to insert the card every possible way but nothing seemed to make any difference.
I tried to format and reformat the cards, nothing happened.
I used my computer to restore the cards to default settings, still didn't change anything.
All my cards are new, from 2 to 32G.  The 32G I am trying now is a Sandisk brand new micro SD HC card.
Sony support treats me like I was an idiot.  I am at my wit's end.  Please help!

  • Q:Micro SD card for FRDM-K64

    Hello,
I am installing Java ME 8.1 on my FRDM-K64 board and according to the installation guide I need a Micro SD card of 4GB (using a SDHC card is not recommended). I am really struggling finding such a card, maybe someone knows where to buy one. I have searched RadioShack, BestBuy and Frys with no luck. Will it work with a bigger card?
    Thanks
    Andy

Yes, Andy, they're virtually impossible to find.
The non-HC design is an older technology.
Vague memory (and I'm not going to look it up beyond a generic Google search) is that the two cards have a different density structure.
I came across this same sort of issue a couple of years ago with a no-name MP3 player  --> SD worked while SDHC failed.
As I type this, Newegg's web site has three and only three available for sale.
Microcenter's web site and TigerDirect's web site each have a few available in the USA (your reference to Radio Shack suggests you are there).
Other people will need to respond to let you knoe whether a HC card will function.   I have no knowledge on that.

  • 8100 micro SD card

Please can anybody tell me what is the highest capacity micro SD card that the 8100 will run?  I don't want to buy a 16 or 32GB card if the phone won't run it.
    Many thanks
    Mark

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
The max capacity of a media card is not defined by your BB model. Rather, it is governed by your BB OS level as per this KB.

  • Dowloading apps to the micro sd card

hi, i recently upgraded my micro sd card to 16gb and was wondering if apps can be dowloaded to the media card instead of taking space on the memory card.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) Application Memory, 2) Device Memory, and 3) Media/SD Card Memory
Application Memory -- This is the most crucial; it is the protected (not user accessible), dedicated, and fixed (in size) space that is available as the destination for the installation of applications (plus some application storage, overhead and such). You cannot touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can only install here...there is no option.
Device Memory -- This is space on your BB that you can touch to store files, pictures, media, etc. Typically, it is not terribly large, but it is available to you.
SD/Media Card Memory -- This is what it says...your SD card, for you to store files, media, pictures, etc. It can be as large as your BB OS can support...see this KB:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461
On some devices/OS levels, Device Memory and Application Memory are combined into "File Free"...these are, IMO, a little harder to administer as you really can't see well just how much AppMemory you have. Nevertheless, here are some guidelines to use:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15345
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14320
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14213
Lastly, it is always important to properly close applications when you are done with them. Using the Back or the Red key will not do this -- those leave it to the app to decide what to do...and some will leave themselves resident in memory, consuming resources on your BB, slowing the overall performance. Rather, to close an app, press the BBKey and select "Close" or "Exit"...that will force the application to be closed, freeing up for your new use the resources it was consuming. Some apps will always remain running (typically -- BBMessenger, Browser, Homescreen, Phone, and Messages)...but, you should still close them properly - especially the Browser...if it is left on an active web page, it will not only consume extra resources but battery power as well.
    Good luck!

  • Micro USB Card

So I'm having an issue with my Micro USB card. I have a ESN 8830 World Edition from Bell. I use the card to put pictures and a ringtone onto the card and then put the card into my phone. I set everything up etc and then when I pull the card out the ringtone isn't in my media files. How can I transfer the ringtone onto my phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
Do I understand you correctly? That you remove the SD card from your BB, insert it into an SD slot on a PC, move files to it, and then put it back into the BB? And, when you do that, only the ringtones are missing but the pictures are there?
Do you double check on the PC to ensure that the files are there? Do you put them into the proper folders on the SD card (when formatted by the BB, it creates folders for each type of media)?
How, exactly, are you checking to see if the files are on the BB? Exact steps, please...
    Thanks!

  • Downloads to micro sd cards

Is it possible to download my playlists from I tunes or my I pod to a micro sd card and if so how do I do it?

I will be checking about the File Allocation Tale versions/types that will be supported with this unit.
What's the exact issue that you're experiencing? What's the brand and capacity of the micro SD card & card reader that you're using? It maybe an issue caused by the software compression of the USB stick that the unit cannot read or it needs a password.

  • I'm using a micro sd card inside USB adapter but it won't mount on my Macbook Air 2012

    Hi everyone,
Really puzzled at the moment because I just purchased a Kingston 64GB Class 10 Micro SD card and it came with a USB adapter to plug into my mac. The problem is that it won't mount, I just get a pop up saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." I open up Disk Utilty and I get the following info:
    Mount Point : Not mounted
    Partition Type : Windows_FAT_32
    Capacity : 67.11 GB (67,107,815,424 Bytes)
Everything else is blank. Does anyone know what Windows_FAT_32 is and how I can get my Micro SD card to work on my Mac? Also note that when I plug it into a Windows PC, it loads up fine and my Macbook Air is also running OSX Yosemite Dev Preview 6. Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated

Yes, you will not be signed in to update iCloud content, until you update your Apple ID on both devices.  On the iPhone you will need to go into your settings>iCloud then tap your iCloud ID to sign out then sign in with your new Apple ID, on the Macbook you need to go into your system preferences then tap iClould sign out then sign in with your new Apple ID.
