6670 Outlook sync'ing error

Hi,
I have a Nokia 6670 and am able to use various options in the Nokia PC Suite (version 6.84.10.4) including backup. However, when I try to Sync it with Outlook 2002 (via USB and Bluetooth), I get an error message saying "PC Sync has encountered a problem and terminated the synchronization". I have un-installed Nokia PC Suite and re-installed it.
What could the problem be? Is there another way to view my contacts in Excel? Please help, I'm desperate!
My PC is XP SP2.
Thanks

greetings,
I recently downloaded ipod agent prior to the release of itunes 5 so that i can sync my outlook with ipod. the program required another tiny program to enable it to tap into outlook. it seems outlook has a defense mechanism designed to prohibit external entry into its files without consent. it seems that itunes 5 needs the same tiny program, called express clickyes, found here for free: http://contextmagic.com/express-clickyes/
it will temporarily suspend outlook from blocking itunes. double click on the icon to toggle enable/suspend prior to synching. moreover, outlook needs to be opened prior to synching. i have tried this, and it works with itunes 5.
wish there was another way of doing this, but if a program like ipod agent, designed specifically to sync pc info needs it, i guess it will be necessary until outlook tweaks this.
hope this helps.

  • Outlook sync issue--error  ModName:  applesyncmapiinterface.dll

just in the past week, I have been getting this error message (applesyncmapiinterface.dll) when syncing my iphone to my XP Pro PC. I just upgraded the new OS4 in I-tunes, and my sync still provides this error message. Any solutions?

The reason why the sync client error appears is because itunes will not sync a bad file from outlook (either a contact or a calendar entry) and so gives up on the operaton.
There is hope however! The only real way of getting this to work is to locate and delete/ replace the bad data.
There is no really easy way of scanning outlook for the bad data so this is the method that I use:
    1. first try and sync phone/ipod with itunes - watch the top bar in itunes and see whether the "outlook sync client not working" appears during the attempt to sync contact or calendar - then you know whether the bad data is in your contacts folder or your calendar.
    2. make a backup of yur contacts or calendar - file/ export to pst.
    3. go to tools/find/advaced find and put nothing in the search box but press enter. The resultant search will be all of your contacts/ calendar entries.
    4. now the clever bit: select all and delete - this will delete all of your entires (remember you have made a backup) but any corrupt files will not be deleted in this operation: thus you have identified the bad files (make a note of this file)
5 import your contacts/ calendar back from your backup - file/import pst.
    6. Now simply copy down (with a pen and paper!) the information contained in the bad file - they normally read okay, delete the file and re-enter manualy.
    6. hey presto.

I am receiving the error 'The iPod "Paul's iPod" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50).'
When I try to uncheck the "Sychronize contacts" option, iTunes ends abnormally with the Microsoft error reporting dialog box, Send Error/Don't send.

  • Outlook Sync Error SOLVED - Multi-day repeating appointment cannot be converted for use on the Handheld...

*UPDATE 1/23/2009 07:08 AM* This is a partial fix. I no longer think the Recurrence Range is the culprit. It seems the Time Zones features between Outlook & Palm are not cooperating. This explains why my 12 am events are syncing as 6 pm the day before; I live in GMT-6:00 so it's moving my events ahead by 6 hours. Another event I set for 1 pm in Outlook was changed to 7 am on my Treo. I am going to start over and recreate each event, this time setting the Time Zones, which I hadn't done before. I tested it out and it worked with a single event... let's see how long it lasts. I've also found that using 'No Time' on my Treo is not compatible with Outlook. It's better to set a time with 0 minutes duration.
*UPDATE 1/23/2009 04:11 AM* This is a partial fix. My monthly and yearly problematic recurring events are now showing up at 6 pm the day before on my Treo, though my Outlook calendar is fine. I think this has to do with the Recurrence Range Start/End in Outlook, which is set automatically. If only there were a way to change this...
After a WHOLE LOTTA trial-and-error (like 3 days worth), I think I finally solved my OLERR:14-001 issue!
Problem: Syncing Palm Treo 755p calendar with Outlook 2007
    Error Message (simplified):
HotSync session completed with messages on [date] [time]
HotSync session started on [date] [time], and completed in [0] seconds
Outlook Calendar synchronization completed with messages
    Duration: [0] seconds
    Outlook Calendar
The multi-day repeating appointment titled [event] beginning [date] [time] cannot be converted for use on the Handheld. Please divide the appointment up into single-days and re-synchronize.
     OLERR:14-0001
    - Desktop overwrite HH Sync
Note: You will likely have several of these ‘Multi-day’ instances in your hotsync log (I had 58). You may want to change Calendar in hotsync to "Desktop overwrites Handheld" after you get this error, to avoid erasing events while you are fixing this issue. Otherwise, you may have to restore them from a backup copy (if you have one) and start over. You can switch back once you’re through.
Solution: First, I tried this Palm KB Article: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/NUA/launchKB.asp?c=31167. After this didn’t work for me… I did trial-and-error. I believe the problem is that each recurring event, which you set up as ‘All-day’, must be changed to have a duration of 0 minutes from within Outlook. I was able to change some events directly, but I found that some of the records had corrupted, and would just revert. My fool-proof solution was to recreate EVERY problematic event (yes, one-by-one) using the following steps:
    Open Outlook
Go to your default calendar, where your events are synced
In the top menu choose ‘View’ > ‘Current View’ > ‘Recurring Appointments’
    Open a ‘New Appointment’
Enter subject and other options, such as Categorize, Importance, Time Zones, or Reminder
Make sure starting and ending date & time are the EXACT same
Select ‘Recurrence’ & choose your pattern
I did not choose ‘No end date’ (hence the Palm article), but rather ‘End by:’ and typed in 2031, then pressed tab to auto-generate a suitable end date. I chose 2031 because that is last year my Treo’s calendar goes to. Click OK
Repeat for every event in your error log, until you get a clean "Desktop overwrites Handheld" hotsync (Outlook should be closed when you sync)
Switch Calendar in hotsync back to "Synchronize"
Even though I still get the message OLERR14:001, my syncs are successful. Now I will give my Treo time to see if the issue returns later. Until then, happy Outlook syncing and good luck!

    hello,
if all of your data is on the phone you can change the sync action to handhled overwrites desktop
    how to:
    open palm desktop software
on the top left click on 'hotsync' and then 'custom'
    on the calendar conduit
highlight it and click on 'change'

  • Contacts and Calendar not sync'ing with Outlook 2010

All was fine today until (maybe coincidental - maybe not) I had a Microsoft Exchange email account added to my Outlook 2010.  I have an iPhone 4, and I usually sync daily, especially when calendar or contact changes take place.  I am currently not using the icloud, so all contacts and calendar events would be way too outdated.
I have checked my Outlook settings under "info" and cannot get my contacts and address to load.  I even see the "Contacts syncing"..."calendar sync'ing" when the overall iTunes sync takes place with my iPhone.
    Help!!

  • Having trouble sync'ing. Receiving Overcapacity error on my 64GB iPhone 5. Backed up and restored but still having sync issues.

I have an iPHone 5 64GB with iTunes 11 installed on an 2 yr old HP laptop running Windows 7. I am having sync'ing issues. I am receiving an overcapacity error I have not seen before even though I can manually remove audiobooks I have previously loaded to get the overcapacity down below the available 64GB limit. I have removed most of them now and can get the sync to begin. Not sure if it will actually complete. But now I do not have but a relatively few audio books loaded. I have backed up and restored to see it that helps but am still getting the same overcapacity error. Seems whatever I had included was doubled in an "other" category. Also, in the recent upgrade to iTunes, it takes forever to sync when I change content. Sync'ing takes a lot longer than before. Has anyone else experienced similar performance issues.

Lawrence Finch has previously provided the following helpful info...
"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
    email messages and attachments
    Reminders
    Calendar entries
    Contacts
Text messages   (*** this can take up a lot of space)
    MMS messages and attachments
    Genius data
    Music cover art
    Operating system settings
    Safari cache
    bookmarks
    Game Center status
    Music catalog
If you have a lot of text messages stored, that can make "Other" very large.  Another problem area is corrupted files.  When app and data files become corrupted, they may end up in "Other".  To fix that, perform a restore from a recent backup.  That prevents corrupt files from showing up.

  • Outlook Sync Error Message

Some of my calendar entries seem to be getting sync'd but the VAST majority of calendar entries are missing. My environment is as follows...
    Windows XP Pro - SP3
    iTunes - 9.1.1.12
    iPod OS (32 Gig 3rd Gen) - 3.1.2
    Outlook 2003 - SP3
I've tried most of the suggestions found here in this forum related to Outlook sync problems but nothing seems to make any difference...
    Any suggestions?
    Cliff

O.K. Now a follow up....I just upgraded to iTunes 9.2.x and what seems to be syncing is reoccurring calendar entries only. I have tried turning off the calendar sync..which asks me if I want to remove all calendar entries previously synched, to which I say yes. My calendar entries go away. I then turned the synching of calendars back on and the only entries that I see on the iPod are reoccurring calendar entries. NONE of the single calendar entries are showing up. The error message is also no longer appearing in the synch log....very strange.

  • Sync-ing groups with 9500 & Outlook

Hi, I use groups often. But sync-ing with Outlook seems to delete them, even if the group is present in Outlook too. Any sugestions?

This is something that Nokia needs to fix ASAP!!!
A few of us use Microsoft Outlook to organize our Contacts. Once you get more than a few numbers organizing them into categories: business, family, etc. makes makes it much easier to find the number you want.
It is great that Nokia can sync. with Outlook but not being able to sync with all of Outlooks groups makes the feature almost worthless.
If Nokia wants to sell a business smartphone then it MUST sync with business software, completely.

  • Desktop Software sync'ing non-default calendar entries to Outlook

I just upgraded from a Curve to a Torch 9810.  I have two email accounts set up on it - my personal one and my work one (BIS) - just as I did on the Curve.  My personal one is the default in the Default Services.  I sync my BB to Outlook on my personal PC using the Desktop Software.  On the Curve when I did the sync, it only updated calendar entries associated to my personal email account (the default) to Outlook.  Everything I can find online indicates that that is the way it is supposed to work, and that is the way I want it to work.  I don't want my work appointments on the BB to be added to my personal Outlook calendar.  On this new Torch, though, it is sync'ing the appointments associated to my non-default work email to Outlook.  I tried changing the default service to my work email to see what would happen, but it still tried to sync the same set of (work) calendar entries.  I also tried clearing the calendar completely and resync'ing, but that didn't fix the problem.  Does anyone know why it is sync'ing the non-default calendar entries to Outlook and how to get it to stop?  Thanks!

Hello agiledogs and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you are having difficulties synchronizing your Calendar on your BlackBerry® Torch™ 9810 smartphone.
Just to be sure, if you go to Options>Device>Advanced System Settings>Default Services, your personal email account is listed as the default? (as this default is what is used to do the synchronize).
In the appointments that are not synchronizing over, does it say what service was used when creating it?
Does your Microsoft® Outlook® Calendar have the correct entries and you want to add them to your phone or does your phone have the correct Calendar entries and you want these to your Outlook®?
Let me know what the entries say.

  • Time change problem in sync'ing w/Outlook Calendar

I have 2ndG iPod touch, 2.2.1 software and iTunes 8. Each time I sync the touch with my Outlook (2007) calendar, the touch changes the time zone from Eastern to California time for each event on my touch calendar. I've checked, rechecked and triple checked the time zone listed under Settings -> General (says New York) as well as under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars (time zone support also shows New York). For example: Outlook calendar states the event begins at 7:15pm, after sync'ing the Calendar on touch says the same event begins at 10:15pm. I've manually changed each even in the past but since I schedule 2 months in advance, it's a real hassle to keep fixing them.
Is there another time zone change that I need to make? Why is this happening?
    Thanks.

I've called Apple Support. The suggestion is to reboot my iPod; start iTunes; connect my iPod; check the settings in iTunes for calendar (did already but I'll try it again); turn off my iPod & disconnect from my computer; reconnect my iPod while it is "off" to my computer while iTunes is running; then sync again and see what happens. If it doesn't work I'm supposed to call them back. Since today is a 12hr work day, it might be tomorrow before I have time to try this and report back.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Outlook Sync problem : bidir sync tells me to delete 300+ entries on Outlook

    Hello all,
With my wife, we got 2 BB Curve 8520 and we're now trying to sync both of them with our Outlook 2003 SP3 on XP SP3. Both do the same thing :
1/ First sync goes well, the BB calendar gets filled up,
2/ Everything syncs well during a few days,
3/ One day, the sync tells us it will delete 3000+ elements on Outlook, of course I click Reject and cancel the sync,
4/ I restart OK by synching one-dir from Outlook tp BB,
5/ A few days after, it returns to step 3 and is behaving bad again.
I can't get any durable solution, the only thing I got is a workaround that lasts only a few days.
    Our BB version (mine/my wife's) :
    - Platform : 4.2.0.118 / 4.2.0.135

Unless you each are changing the default email address in Outlook to match the default email address on your individual device, the sync will never work correctly.

  • Solving an Outlook sync time mismatch problem on iPhone calendar

I was recently in spain and my time automatically updated. I was using automatic time zone correction in Settings/General/Date & Time with "set automatically" and under calendar "time zone support" was "ON".
However, upon returning home, apparently, that "auto time zone" didn't work properly. My time updated properly, and everything else was fine, but upon my next sync, all of my appointments were 4 hours off. (my trip to Spain had a 6 hour difference... so it wasn't exactly that).
By going into Settings/General/Date and searching for a city in my time zone, and selecting it, my calendar items' time was corrected.

Based on your response it sounds like this particular featureset is a bit more capable and complex than I'd originally hoped.
I didn't recall choosing any city while in Spain, as the time on the phone updated on its own, and I hadn't started sync'ing the calendar with Outlook yet at that point.
When I returned home, I did my first calendar sync, and again hadn't chosen any city upon return, then after choosing a local city, the time corrected.
Everything is working fine now (as it wasn't posted as a question) but this is a discussion I hadn't found on here and thought it was a worthwhile discussion to have since I surely can't be the only person whose run into the misunderstanding in functionality.
