7344 Motion board stop command causing system to drop
I have a hydrolic system(in closed loop mode) controlled by a 7344s analog output.
a value changes depending on the voltage from the 7344:
positive voltage lets water into the system
negative voltage lets water out of the system.
due to the design of the system, water has to be constintly fed into it to hold position.
Now if I call a stop command while holding position(encoder counts are not moving) the voltage drops to zero before going back to its previous value(1-1.5v) only issue is that the system drops until the voltage gets back up.
In contrast, a halt stop is immediate and abrupt. The target position is set to the position of the axis at the moment the VI is executed. On servo axes, full torque is applied to stop the motor(s) as quickly as possible. On stepper axes, the step pulses are immediately ceased.
I am using a halt stop(1) would a decelerate stop(0) be better for this application?
The behavior you are describing sounds like the response of a halt stop when a following error exists in a closed loop stepper. When a halt stop is performed on an axis the following error is cleared and the holding force on the motor is removed. This is a known issure for NI-Motion drivers prior to 7.2, and is fixed in that release. You can download the NI-Motion 7.2 driver here:

Connect two 7344 motion controllers in one PC
Can I use two NI - PCI 7344 motion controllers in one PC. My application requires 6 axis and hence I want to use two PCI 7344 motion controllers. I am already using one. Can I configure another one in the same PC to add more axes to my current system. If yes, then how to configure the other one, so that it acts as the 5th and 6th axes in my system. I'm using LabVIEW 7.1 in my application.

Mumbai, IndiaYou can add as many PCI-7344 boards to your PC as you want. The only
limitation is the number of PCI-slots available. In your software you
need to control the axes from the second PCI-7344 seperately from the
axes of the first one. That means that there are no built in methods to
start the axes on two or more boards synchronously. If this is not a
feature that you need then everything is quite straight forward. If you
need tight synchronization you might write an onboard program that's
running on the second board and that waits e. g. for a breakpoint
signal to be generated by the first board immediately after the axes
are started.
Assumed that you need tight motion synchronization with the additional
axes a better choice would be to use one PCI-7356 (6 axes) or a
PCI-7358 (8 axes) instead of two PCI-7344. The 735x boards are pin- and
software-compatible to the 734x boards. You could return your 7344 to
NI and buy a 735x board with a fair discount ("hardware upgrade"). If
this is an option for you please contact your local NI branch.

Following error goes to 32767 before motion is even commanded!
I had everything working yesterday on this motion stage:
PCI-7356
LV233 stepper
US Digital encoder
Primatics Drive
Now today when I connected everything using Phoenix Contact varioconnectors - the following error is going to the maximum amount as soon as the board is initialized and the loop control set to Closed.
I triple checked my connections and the encoder is wired properly - why would the following error go to maximum before any motion is even commanded?
Ryan Vallieu
Automation System ArchitectI have powered down the PC and rebooted.
I rewired this morning again. Still the same issue.
I am programmatically resetting the controller, enabling the axes, loading the steps and counts, setting the polarity of the encoders (just tried adding this morning to the code), enabling the encoders.
The Load Steps Load Counts VI is working (no errors returned). Is there a way to read the card to make sure that these values ARE in fact being stored?
It's driving me crazy since I ran 2000 cycles on the rotary axis from 0-90 degrees 2 days ago. I come back the next day - use connectors to connect the wires in the same patterns and now it doesn't work. Just this morning I took the connectors out of the equation again and am looking at the Primatics cabling guide and the encoder cabling just to quintuple check my connections....

We are having the issue on hundreds of systems and I am rolling out the readiness tool mentioned above to prevent other systems from being affected. In the mean time I have stopped deploying MS13-098 and am hoping Microsoft will go ahead and let all
of their customers know about the problem instead of just one country. Hopefully the original bulletin will be updated with this known issue.PPoj,
Apple has offered replacement or pro-rated refunds in the US as a settlement of a class action lawsuit, not because of pride in their design-centric approach to their products. If you seek a similar replacement/refund program in India, then the odds are pretty good that you’d need a similar legal approach with which to convince Apple to offer a similar program there. If you’re unwilling to wait for such an event, then you can purchase a replacement power cable now, and hope for a pro-rated refund at some point in the future. -
SWF goes white at end despite stop command
The title says it all really; I've got a simple FLA that just
slides some content into place.
It's got a stop frame at the start because it's actually a
submovie of a parent movie (and the stop on the first frame
accommodates the preloader in the parent) so when the SWF is viewed
in isolation a quick tap of the Return key is needed to start it
playing... entirely normal.
BUT when it gets to the end the SWF it goes white, instead of
displaying the content visible on the last frame (30). There's a
stop command on the last frame. Why does it all go blank?
I figure you'll need the FLA to help, so here it is:
http://tinyurl.com/2wmc2z
(2.5MB)
I wondered if the AS inside the slideshow_mc was causing it,
but swapping slideshow_mc for a regular static image with no
internal AS made no difference. None of the other symbols have any
internal scripting.
This is baffling me, mainly because the FLA is so bare-bones
that I can't see where the problem can possibly be hiding. No doubt
I'm missing the wood for the trees, so can someone end my pain
here?
Cheers.Ugh. There's nothing quite like posting your problem in a
public forum to make you spot the solution 10 minutes later.
The issue was a badly typed stop command.
Wood for the trees, like I figured.
All is fixed, no need to respond, sorry to trouble the group.

Hi.
Using X-Fi Titanium Fatality soundcard and latest beta driver. But then I need change working mode (from Game to Audio Creation or Audio Creation to Game) it's cause system freeze. And only hard reset helps. No errors message or error logs in system.
This problem appear only if I played any games in Game mode and after want listen music in Audio mode. If don't play any games or listen music, you can change modes multiple times without problem.
I try clean Windows 7 installation and problem is still here.

PCI-7344 motion controller encoder reset problem
I'm using a PCI-7344 motion controller for my application. I'm currently working on simple display of position and velocity using an encoder. I am able to read the encoder pulser, but I am unable to reset it. I want the encoder pulses to be display continously till I press a reset button on the screen. After pressing the reset button on the front panel, the encoder count should become zero and start counting again till I press stop button. Kindly give me a simple example of encoder reset using push button. Thanks.

Mumbai, IndiaThis should do what you are looking for. I am not at the computer that has a motion controller card in it, so I have not tested it.
It resets the encoders for Axis 1 and Axis 2. Unless you have a different configuration for encoders and axes, it should work.
Hope that this helps,

My lenovo G505s shuts down suddenly and key board stops working at times
Hi,
I have bought this laptop 10 days ago, I am facing two problems 1st is, it shuts down(suddenly off not proper shut down) while working without showing any error message, and the problem no 2 is its key board stops working at times, system is working fine but all the buttons of key board are not responding. it will work when I restart the system.
please help what should I do, could it be replaced?Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Sorry to hear of your problems. I would suggest that you try a reset of the BIOS just to rule out any hardware conflicts the system may have. Try this........
1. Unplug the charger / adapter.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds.
4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.
If the problems weren't resolved by doing the reset then I suggest you contact Lenovo Support for warranty service. Both the problems you mentioned could be related to faulty hardware and the service center would be best equipped to check out your new laptop. Use a motion board for a servo valve
Hi!
I'm developing an application to control an hydraulic servovalve with feedback.
I already have a motion board and I'd like to know if and how is possible to use the PCI-73xx servo board to control a servovalve 'cause it don't work in speed but with trajectory so i will not give a speed reference but a position curve.Just think of the motion controller as a PID controller. As long as it can provide the proper control signal and read the proper feedback signal, it is really just a matter of tuning. Not sure if you are controlling the position of the servovalve itself or controlling the position of an actuator.

KERNEL Security Update Causing System Havoc
MAY KERNEL PATCH CAUSES SYSTEM HAVOC
We regularly update our patches, including recommended kernel security patches for Solaris 10.
However, two days ago upon attempting to load the weekend Solaris 10 security patch (the latest as
of this writing), the system indicated that the install had failed. After that, it was all downhill and as
of today our main server is completely down.
Being based on a ZFS file system didn't particularly help either as it appears that whatever problem
was generated by the botched init5 installation of the Kernal Security patch got copied to the mirror
disk, because the despite the failed installation the bootarchive was "updated" before shutdown
and there didn't appear to be any way to restore from the mirror.
What few errors I could view before even rebooting failed had to do with PCI and basic boot-time
mounting. Currently, there is not even enough time for any text to appear on screen before the
system reboots again (i.e. a reboot-loop).
It appears there is no choice in a case such as this other than to restore from a zfs snapshot and I
am not even sure that will work with no functioning kernel! I'll try it from fail-safe.
Somehow I feel I am not alone this weekend as a frustrated system administrator. What has been
most frustrating is that this was not an optional patch, but a kernel security patch which most of
us would conscientiously add!
Anybody been here, done this? Is there a "best procedure" in this case?
Thanks for any help you can provide on restoring after a botched kernel update!
Gunnar K. A. Njalsson
The SPACEPOL CorporationWe switched to Windows Server 2008 Enterprise this week, partially as a result of the problem above and not having
a simple and straight-foward solution to recovering backup snapshots.
In my opinion this is a real weakness with ZFS and the Solaris operating system. It should essentially be a no-brainer
that there exist a simple file system-integrated solution that does not require all of the extra calculations, mirrors,
commands and set-ups which are currently part of Solaris and ZFS. These are valuable tools, but in the case I
mentioned above, the major problem was a false sense of security provided by all of the hype about ZFS and
mirrors.
It only took a botched official update to copy the errors to the mirror and thereby loose our data and make
recovery a very intricate process which we did not have time to do. Windows Server provides us with a simple
interface for backing up our data and server on a separate disk at times of our choosing and with a recovery
or restore option that is intuitive and just as simple as backup.
I love Solaris and Sun and share much of the philosophy of UNIX and related tools. However, in a security-focused and
critical production environment such as ours, it's not a matter of my personal likes and dislikes; but a question of
being able to get typical system administration tasks done simply, even if they have to be left to non-computer scientists
at times. Solaris worked well for a year, but when the kernel became corrupted by an update, everything was lost.
That's too much risk! -

Bridge causes system restart
What GPU and driver version are you running?
I had to roll back my driver on a GeForce 7300 GS GPU to version 182.50 in
order to prevent Bridge CS4 from crashing Windows when exiting Bridge.
That driver version also seems stable on CS5 except that large Photoshop
brushes show only partially (which is indicative of bad driver).
I aint going to change drivers just yet since CS4 works OK with it. (My
CS5 install is just a trial.) -

Problems with a PCI-7344 motion controller
Hi all,
I've run into a weird problem with a NI PCI-7344 motion controller, where I
have a program that provides the motion control for my program that works
reasonably well, but when I make minor changes gets motion errors. The changes
are not specifically to the motion parts, just changing a couple of globals
that provide communication with another part of the program (and another piece
of hardware). The errors I get indicate that I am trying to enable limits
switches at the wrong time in my program. I will add that I do not get any
errors when I go through the program in debug mode
Tnx,
P.W.MonroeThe portion of my program that gets the errors uses the "Flexmotion" Find Home
and Find Index routines, which are built into the 7344 controller. In the
exampes for using these VIs, they are followed by a loop that has a VI that
monitors the status of these VIs for completion, both move complete and Home or
Index Found. The globals that I mentioned are being used to terminate the loops
if an error condition occurs elsewhere, and do not cause the program to do
anything other than terminate looking at the status and then go into a wait
loop. It crashes when it goes into the loop when I substitute a different
global, which is baffling to me, as they aren't triggering something that would
result in a race condition. -

After playing a CD or listening to my music library for a while, I get random freezes; eg spinning beachball in iTunes. It happens when an album is finished or a playlist is finished and I go back to iTunes to eject or quit or play a new playlist. Freezes. When I try to click Apple (in order to click on Force Quit), it isn't available...the beachball rules. The only thing I can do with the cursor is click on Finder in the Dock; or the desktop area outside of open apps. Cmnd+Q doesn't work. Cmnd+esc doesn't work. CmndoptnQ doesn't work. Cmndoptnesc brings up the force quit dialogue. That leads to a "force finder to quit?" dialogue. A couple times I've had to resort to hard rebooting.
Suggestions would be appreciated; but another issue is the fact that this is causing system freezes and I was under the impression that the cool thing about OS X is that one app won't cause system freezes.
There's another similar thread titled 'it crashes', but system freezes aren't mentioned.
Any ideas?Still doing it...but I give up on getting any help.
