Thanks in advance.This error occur because their target object does not exists and you say that you can not find that perhaps this is public synonym(identify this from dba_synonyms) and try drop public synonym synonym_name and create this synonym again.

ORA-01775: looping chain of synonyms
Hello,
I had some issues with the database and then we need to force this database open.
After opening it we need to take the full export of the database which I took.
Then I recreate the database and ran ran catalog, catproc and other component's cripts.
I created additional tablespaces and users.
Later I imported the database -
imp full=y file=full_tlsbx01_20100127.dmp log=imp_tlsbx01_20100127.log ignore=Y
But import gave me lot of errors like ORA errors like -
ORA-04055, ORA-06550,ORA-00001,ORA-02264,ORA-20000
and some IMP erros like -
IMP-00061,IMP-00041,IMP-00003,IMP-00003,IMP-00017,IMP-00019,IMP-00032,IMP-00008.
While looking at the INVALID objects I can see number of SYSMAN objects are in invalid state -
SQL> select owner,count(*) from dba_objects where status='INVALID' group by owner;
OWNER COUNT(*)
SYSTEM 3
PUBLIC 4
SYSMAN 96
while trying to look at these objects I found that some of the objects are created error -
ORA-01775: looping chain of synonyms
Problem is with the SYSMAN (GRID)
Looking forward to your advice/recommendations.Database is working fine. I have a RMAN catalog which is working fine but getting problem while starting the grid, I am getting following error -

ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.SETEMUSERCONTEXT", line 17

When tried to compile this package then it gace an error that package EMP_NOTIFICATION is INVALID and then when tried to ciompile this package it gave an error PLS-00421: Circular Synonym 'PUBLIC.MGMT_MATRICS_RAW'. -

Hi Guys
I have a public SYNONYM that was created to access a table on the remote database using a DB Link.
We are able to access the DB Link using SQL Plus and the Synonym BUT when the same is used inside the cursor query of a PL/SQL block we get the following error message!
This is driving me crazy... need your expert suggestion :)

Thanks & Best Regards,
Faisal.Hi,
As I say, when we access the synonym (that links to a table through a DBLINK) we have this issue. The code can be as simple as
DECLARE
var1 int := 0;
CURSOR S1 IS SELECT col1, col2 from TB_DBLINK;
BEGIN
LOOP through Cursor S1
END;
Here the TB_DBLINK is:
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TB_DBLINK FOR TB_DBLINK@DBL1
The TB_DBLINK on the DBL1 is also a Public Synonym... So it means that a Public Synonym is being created for a Public Synonym!
Able to access this using SQL Plus simple select though :( -
Dear all,
How to trace a purticular error ?
from metalink
Diagnose the issue by running the following trace
alter system set events '1775 trace name ERRORSTACK level 3';
Redo the import and reproduce the error. The trace file should be in the
USER_DUMP_DEST directory.
alter system set events '1775 trace name errorstack off';
Trace file will show something like the following:
ksedmp: internal or fatal error
ORA-01775: looping chain of synonyms
Current SQL statement for this session:
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_01
I am getting the same ora 01775 error. But when I am tracing, I am not getting any result in my udump. Is there any other setting do I have to make to get the trace file?
ThanksYour question can not be answered.
Not only you don't include a version (this seems to be too difficult for most posters here), but you also include ambiguous sentences like 'When I am tracing'.
This results in the question 'did you issue the alter system command and was it successful?'
As far as I am aware the syntax is
alter system set events='<errornum> trace name errorstack level 3';
There are no other 'settings'
The only other solution is to set up an afterserver error trigger.
Works like a charm, 8i onwards.
You uncover way too many things you don't even want to know!

04052. 00000 - "error occurred when looking up remote object %s%s%s%s%s"
*Cause: An error has occurred when trying to look up a remote object.
*Action: Fix the error. Make sure the remote database system has run
KGLR.SQL to create necessary views used for querying/looking up
objects stored in the database.You need to create the catalog views that support distributed SQL in your remote database (the database you connect to via db_link).
To create these views, connect "/ as sysdba" and run:
$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql
which will in turn call several other scripts including: $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catrpc.sql (which creates your missing view)
It is best to run the whole catproc.sql script (and not just the catrpc script).
You can run and rerun catproc.sql several times quite safely.

Error while running a menu file (ORA-01775 followed by FRM-41810)
Hi all,
I had a menu file which was working fine. After adding Security to it by specifying the roles which can access the menu items. After doing so, when I run the menu (with the corresponding form), I get ORA-01775 (looping chain of synonyms) followed by FRM-41810 (menu not created) error.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance,
Hiten ViraHi,
which version of forms you are using ? Is there something to do with synonyms ? I mean are you using synonyms in your application. The basic cause of this error is:
Cause: Through a series of CREATE synonym statements, a synonym was defined
that referred to itself.
For example, the following definitions are circular:
CREATE SYNONYM s1 for s2
CREATE SYNONYM s2 for s3
CREATE SYNONYM s3 for s1
Action: Change one synonym definition so that it applies to a base table or
view and retry the operation.

ORA-00904 invalid identifier error
Here are the steps to reproduce this. My DB version is 9i R2.
1) create table xmlsun1 of xmltype;
2) create table xmlsun2 as select * from xmlsun1;
Two Tables of XML Type created successfully
3) insert into xmlsun1 values(xmltype('<employees><employee id="35"><FirstName>Tom</FirstName><LastName>Kyte</LastName></employee></employees>'));
4) insert into xmlsun2 values(xmltype('<employees><employee id="35"><FirstName>Tom</FirstName><LastName>Kyte</LastName></employee></employees>'));
Now when i query, i can see one record in each tables.
The problem is only when updation.
5) update xmlsun1 x
set value(x) = updatexml(value(x),'/employees/employee/@id','37')
where existsnode(value(x),'/employees/employee[FirstName = "Tom"]') = 1;
1 row updated
6) update xmlsun2 x
set value(x) = updatexml(value(x),'/employees/employee/@id','37')
where existsnode(value(x),'/employees/employee[FirstName = "Tom"]') = 1;
This updation fails with the error : ORA-01775: looping chain of synonyms
I tried to change alias of xmlsun2 to y
update xmlsun2 y
set value(y) = updatexml(value(y),'/employees/employee/@id','37')
where existsnode(value(y),'/employees/employee[FirstName = "Tom"]') = 1;
I get an error saying that Y is an invalid identifier. Now, how can i update the table xmlsun2? I can't use the alias x nor any other alias.
Thanks,
SundarI've filed bug 5560960 for this behavoir, which is still not what you are describing.. Do you have SYNONYMS defined somewhere in your example ?

Can we trace the values in a cursor if we debug the package?
Can we trace the values in a cursor if we debug the package having a cursor?
Does it shows cursor attributes like %rowcount,%notfound,%found etc?
Because i am debugging a pachage , and I am getting the exception.
And its after the fetching of a cursor I am hitting on the exception.
If I click the profilier after I debug, its showing the error ora 1775::looping chain of synonyms.
The scenario is after the fetching of cursor, i am hitting the exception and after debug If i see the profilier I am getting the error 1775::looping chain of synonyms.Firslty, thanks for your time.
I am using the PLSQL developer.
The select command in the cursor picks tha value but when it fetches, it is showing the error.
Any idea what could be the reason.?
FETCH get_notices ----would show ( rowcount =0,%open,first iteration), does that mean cursor is not picking any value?
Because i have checked the select statement and it picks the value. -

user602633You can use @@.
From SQL*Plus documentation:
Examples
Suppose that you have the following script named PRINTRPT:
SELECT DEPARTMENT_ID, CITY FROM EMP_DETAILS_VIEW WHERE SALARY>12000;@EMPRPT.SQL@@ WKRPT.SQL
When you START PRINTRPT and it reaches the @ command, it looks for the script named EMPRPT in the current working directory and runs it. When PRINTRPT reaches the @@ command, it looks for the script named WKRPT in the same path as PRINTRPT and runs it.
Suppose that the same script PRINTRPT was located on a web server and you ran it with START HTTP://machine_name.domain:port/PRINTRPT. When it reaches the @ command, it looks for the script named EMPRPT in the current working directory and runs it. When PRINTRPT reaches the @@ command, it looks for the script named WKRPT in the same url as PRINTRPT, HTTP://machine_name.domain:port/WKRPT.SQL and runs it.
Also, I am pretty sure those table drop errors are normal.

Thank you!!!Hi Srini,
Thank you very much for your help. Have reviewed the mentioned notes, but unfortunately no information was contained concerning the encountered error.
As to try and address the situation, have completely re-installed Oracle DB 11.1.0.6 and still the workflow installation ends in error. I have to mention that it is a completely fresh installation, no modifications were made to the base configuration.
For windows the installation steps reference only running the wfinstall.bat script with the appropriate parameters for installing Oracle Workflow, but unfortunately it appears that the installation documentation is lacking some necessary steps as on a out of the box install the process does not complete successfully. The mentioned notes: 266612.1 and 351873.1 do not contain the information for troubleshooting the encoutnered issue.
The environment: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 64b Operating System with Oracle DB 11.1.0.6
