8.1.5 - EAR file fails to Deploy - start() failed

Hello,
I am currently trying to deploy an EAR file I created in Weblogic Workshop on a running 8.1.5 Solaris 8 server that has a set of applications and services deployed on it already.
The domain was not initially created with workshop applications enabled, however I did extend the domain after a few class not found errors seem to indicate that was what I should do.
I have created an EAR and a WAR file containing the same code and deployed each of them successfully on a standalone Solaris 8 machine, on domains either created for workshop or extended for it.
This is the error I am seeing in the console, when I try to deploy on our current set up:
weblogic.management.DeploymentException:
Exception:weblogic.management.ApplicationException: start() failed.

Any ideas would be appreciated, I have no idea what this is trying to tell me.
Thanks,
Cash

Here is everything I get from stdout/stderr:
Note: The first exception is not related to deployment, but must be something with our currently deployed apps.

    Atlast it worked. The problem was that in my ejb-jar.xml I was referring to 2_0.dtd. I have changed that to 2.1 and it worked.
    Older ejb-jar.xml had:
    <!DOCTYPE ejb-jar PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Enterprise JavaBeans 2.0//EN" "C:/jboss-4.0.1sp1/docs/dtd/ejb-jar_2_0.dtd">
    I changed that to:
    <ejb-jar xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" version="2.1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/ejb-jar_2_1.xsd">
    And it worked.

  • EAR file is not deployed on all nodes when using SDM/Visual admin

    Hi
    We have a High availability portal landscape with multiple App Servers. When we deploy our custom applications (.EAR) using either SDM or Visual Administrator the file always deploys only onto the Central Instance and the end user some times sees blank screen becoz the load balancer routs the request to some other node (non Central Instance).
    Any helpful answer will be awarded with points !!
    Thanks
    Lakshmi

    Hi Lakshmi,
    Restarting the SAP System should synchronize the components among the application servers.
    You can also check if any of the components need to be updated by going to the deployment overview @ System Administation ->Support -> Support Desk-> Portal Runtime -> Deployment Overview
    This link might be of help.

  • .ear files are not deployed correctly under multi instances environment

    We have 1 CI and 3DI.
    In one server there are 1 CI and 1DI.
    and in the other 2 servers there is 1 DI each.
    I developed a program with Webdynpro Java and deployed correctly.
    But after that I could run the application in only the specific server.
    For example I could run the applicaion in A,B server but not C server.
    What's the problem?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I know it'll be solved after restart.
    But it's not easy to restart DI during working hour.
    Isn't there any other way to solve this problem?

  • Problem while deploying a WLW ear file on a WL81 production server

    Hi,
    I am trying to deploy a simple simple WEB service -which works fine within the

    I generated manually all the JMS queues on the target database, as well as the

    file included in the ear file) .
    The deployment ends with following error:

  • When deploying an ear file the status is not loaded

    I have installed Oracle application server 10g on a Linux CentOS 4.6 server.
    When I went to deploy an ear file, it was a success; however, the status in the application at OC4J:home indicates "Not Loaded" and auto start is true. I have searched every where and cannot find the cause of this problem.
    The development server on a windows machines works fine when the same file is deplyoed.
    Does anyone know what might be the cause. Is there something that I have to configure that I am not aware of?
    Any help would be appreciated. Been working on this for two days.
    TIA
    Mike

    Hi, thanks for the response. I have over 20 EJBs in my ear file. I tried to use the verifier and here is the message that I am getting once I tried to deploy my ear file.
    Error
    Deployment Error -- Error while running ejbc -- Fatal Error from EJB Compiler -- -- Failed to load deployment descriptor for: account cause: Error parsing J2EE-specific application deployment descriptor: Element type "application" is not declared.
    I checked my application.xml and it looks fine to me. please help.

  • Applied Workaround for BUG:5871305, unable to deploy ear file

    Hi,
    I have upgraded Oracle 10g AS from 10.1.3.1 to 10.1.3.3.I am using admin_client.jar to deploy the ear file. After deployment, application gave error during start. The errors were related to apache.commons.logging. I applied the workaround provided on metalink note: 460448.1. I applied the changes in orion-application.xml file:
    <imported-shared-libraries>
              <remove-inherited name="apache.commons.logging" />
         </imported-shared-libraries>
    Now, upon deploying the ear file with the changes, its giving error during deployment:
    oracle.oc4j.admin.deploy.api.J2EEDeploymentException: Operation failed with error:
    Error parsing orion-application.xml at /u00/app/ora10gas/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/j2ee/main/application-deployments/coverzones: Fatal error at line 90 offset 25 in file:/u00/app/ora10gas/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/j2ee/main/applications/coverzones/: .<Line 90, Column 25>: XML-20201: (Fatal Error) Expected name instead of =.
    I have searched a lot on metalink and on google about this error and have not got any pointers to look for root cause.
    Oracle App Server Gurus, kindly help on this
    regards
    Raj

    HI Jaap,
    I checked the orion-application.xml file and I didn't found any typo error or syntax error in the specific xml tag for <imported-shared-libraries>. Below is the xml tag snippet:
    <library path="ivjejb35.jar" /> <!-- needed for access beans in oc4j -->
              <library path="wsdl4j.jar" />
              <library path="CoverZones_DataBeans.jar"/>
              <library path="CoverZones_Session_EJBClient.jar"/>
              <library path="CoverZones_Request_Processors.jar" />
         <imported-shared-libraries>
              <remove-inherited name="apache.commons.logging" />
         </imported-shared-libraries>
    <principals path="principals.xml" />
    The same ear file without the above changes has worked in another Ora10gAS 10.1.3.3 cluster setup and the application works successfully.

  • Deploying web service ear file

    Hi,
    I've developed a simple web service using NetWeaver Developer studio 2.0.5 and created an .ear file for deployment to SAP WAS 6.2.  While trying to load ear file from the deploy tool it throws an error - "Unable to load ear file".  Has anyone seen this error before?  Any problems with the NetWeaver and SAP WAS versions? Any suggestions on how to deploy a web service on SAP J2EE 6.2?

    Hi Dipesh,
    well, if you are using J2EE Engine 6.20 you cannot deploy directly from the NetWeaver Developer Studio (as far as I know, this feature is available only after 6.30/6.40 versions).
    Also, web services are only partially implemented on J2EE Engine 6.20! So it is possible that the web service you've developed with the Developer studio depends on features that are not available on J2EE Engine 6.20. My recommendation is to give a try to the J2EE Engine 6.40, if possible for you at all.
    Finally, there is an alternative to Deploy Tool for deployment on the J2EE Engine 6.20. This is the DEPLOY shell command that you can execute in the server console. For more info about that, refer to the Shell Commands Reference section in the Administration Manual for J2EE Engine 6.20 located here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sapportals.km.docs/documents/a1-8-4/administration manual for sap j2ee engine 6.20.pdf
    Hope that helps!

  • Deploying ear file / Automatic Deployment /AS Deployment

    Hello All,
    i was trying to deploy a ear file of 100 mb in a10.1.3 Server on a specific oc4j instance.
    The error is
    Error initializing site OracleAS Java Web Site: No web-app named 'lib/axis' found in application '--WorkBrain' (found web-modules are: 'workbrain', 'axis')
    As we all know this error message would have been throwed by Server during the process of parsing the application.xml while trying to deploy.
    The entries on META-INF/application.xml are below
    <web>
    <web-uri>workbrain.war</web-uri>
    <context-root>/</context-root>
    </web>
    </module>
    <module id="WebModule_1066144042228">
    <web>
    <web-uri>lib/axis.war</web-uri>
    <context-root>axis</context-root>
    </web>
    The same .ear file was tested on another oc4j instance.
    We tried the Automatic Deployment method (dropping the .ear file in applications dir )
    and restarted the oc4j instance.
    This worked perfectly.
    So what happens in the above two cases..
    Why the Server stops the deployment through the AS console .?
    Why the Server allows the same .ear file through automatic deployment.
    In case if any one needs to refer to automatic deployment .
    http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/as10g/101300/B25221_03/web.1013/b14431/autodeploy.htm.
    The .ear file is not corrupted iam able to unzip the file and i verified the presence of lib/axis .
    Please Clarify....
    Regards
    Prem

  • Changing faces-config.xml after deploying ear file

    Hi,
    What would be the steps to follow if we want to change contenets of web application configuration files (for example, faces-config.xml) after app.ear file has been deployed?
    The app.ear file contains the faces-config.xml, and we are using Oracle AS 10.1.3.
    Thanks,

  • 9iAS version 1 EAR file deployment and UNIX directory permissions

    We are running version 1.0.2.2 of OC4J, the deployment
    directory seems to need world read/write to enable the
    EAR file to deploy. The 9iAS admin user is part of the
    group that owns the EAR file (and respective deployment
    directory) but still cannot write to the
    directory when permissions are set with chmod 755.
    Thank you for any suggestions.

    One thing to try is in the JAR deployment profile for the EJB - stand on the File Groups node and click new to add a library group and make sure it includes the libraries/jar you added to your project.
    If this doesn't help then you might want to try and cross post this on the OC4J forum:

    How should I deploy the ear?

    Dear Daniel,
    Hope you are doing good.
    .EAr files can be deployed using the SDM application. As your server is 7.02, it will work. Mor info:

  • How to Include Java sourcecode into EAR File in Web Dynpro

    Hi Everyone,
    There should be a setting in the developer studio , where in which we can include the source code into a EAR File after we build the source code.
    I am unable to get this settings.
    Please help me out
    Regards,
    Raj

    Hi,
    Well i don't think any of the source codes comes under the ear file when you deploy your application. You can see this.
    First open your project folder, here you will find the ear file.
    Open the command prompt, change the location to the place where ear file is located and then enter :
    jar xvf myearfile.ear
    This will give the extract of the ear file.
    thanks & regards,
    Manoj
