  • Master_detail for more than one record at a time

    Hi,
    How can i display master_detail records for more than one records at a time, for example, i have two tables A and B , A has username and role and B has username and profile. here i wanted to display 10 users at a time on my 6i form with username, role and profile.
    i have created a master-detail relation ship with these tables when i'm executing F8 on blcok A , it displays 10 records on BlockA but, only one at a time on block B, how can i display all corresponding records on block B at a time.
    Thanks for your help.Bcj

    Thanks Roberts, that was realy informative due to some doubts i would like to confirm my requirements , i have two blocks A and B and each master record has only one detail record. but i wanted to display at least 10 master_detail relationships(records) on the form at a time, i would like to know is it possible to do without creating any table or view for example,
    data in table A,
    username role
    AAA R1
    BBB R2
    CCC R3
    data in table B,
    username profile
    AAA P1
    BBB P2
    CCC P3
    i wanted to display it on form like below,
    username role profile
    AAA R1 P1
    BBB R2 P2
    CCC R3 P3
    Also would like to know that how can i select data from dba_users, any restriction is there on forms 6i, i can select it on sqlplus.
    Thanks Again, Bcj

  • How to Insert more than one record at a time- with fixed set of values in one field

    Can someone guide as to how to insert multiple records at a time using ASP VBScript in Dreamweaver CS4 or ADDT.
    If someone can guide then the exact problem is given below.
    I have a MS access database with one table. The table has three fields. The first field is an autonumber field for ID number.
    The second field contains string values- One out of 7 predefined values. One set of records consists of 7 records containing all the seven types of predefined values in fields no 1.
    The third field is a numeric field and can contain integers.
    I want that the user can enter data for the table using an ASP form in such a way that he enters one set of records at a time in one single screen. This way he will not have to remember that he has /has not entered all the seven set of values for the field no 1.
    I am not creating fields with the 7 types of field1value as their names as it will increase the number of fields drastically.
    Please help for dreamweaver ASP VBScript.

    I have successfully inserted seven records in one form submit operation by looping through the command object execute method.
    However, the data that is being inserted by the command object is repetition of the first record and the command object is not taking any data from the text boxes for the second record onwards. In this I had used the isert record behavious generated by DW CS4 and modified it to suit my requirement. However, the data inserted in the first row is getting repeated in all the seven rows.
    Please help.
    Also advise if there are any free dreamweaver server side validation extensions available.

  • Read one record at a time

    Hi !
    One of our Java folks here need at function where he reads one record at at time in id order;
    create table url_recs (id number, url varchar2(4000));
    insert into url_recs values(1,'www.fona.dk');
    insert into url_recs values(2,'www.dr.dk');
    insert into url-recs values(17,'www.ihk.dk');
    select read_rec() from dual; - get id 1
    select read_rec() from dual; - get id 2
    select read_rec() from dual; - get id 17
    select read_rec() from dual; - get id 1 - "no more rows - start all over again)
    select read_rec(45) from dual; - get NULL (no rows with that id)
    select read_rec(1) from dual; - get id 1
    The purpose id for some "round robin" trying to get to some internal URL's.
    Can you give me a hint for creating the function(s)
    best regards
    Mette

    Will successive calls come on the same Oracle session? Or across different Oracle sessions?
    If you're going to call the function multiple times within the same Oracle session, you could store the last value returned in a package variable and select the record whose ID is greater than that value every time the function is called. That's unlikely to do exactly what the Java developer is hoping, though, because the Java calls are likely to bounce between multiple Oracle sessions due to connection pooling. And it'll likely require that the Java developer (or app server admin) adds some code when they get a connection from the pool where they reset the package state. Or it'll require that someone develop a method to keep the Java and Oracle session state in sync.

  • How to save multiple records at a time?

    Hi
    Can any one help me to save the multiple rows using ADF 11g?
    I have the requirement something like, Dragged the VO as a ADF table on the screen, Added the CreateInsert operation and commit operations on to the screen. User have the abliity to add multiple rows and then what is the best way to save all the records at a time instead of one by one.
    the commit operations allows to store single row at a time.
    Thanks

    Actually, the commit action will commit all outstanding rows. Add a bunch of rows, fill in the data, press commit -> all of the rows are saved. Perhaps you could be more explicit in what you are trying and the results.
    Best,
    John

  • Pulling out two records at a time

    I have a TABLE with multiple records in it, of which i want to pull out two records at a time (as if they were one record), of those records that meet the WHERE criteria. Order is not important. Basically, i have a TABLE of things that wither need processing or have been processed already. I can process two at a time. (In a related search, that i am not up to yet, i can do 20 at a time.) How would i go about doing that?
    My first thought was a CTE with ROW_NUMBER() RN, using CONNECT BY RN = PRIOR RN + 2, and have a sub-query (or joined TABLE) pull out the second record:
    WITH Moo (SELECT ... ROW_NUMBER RN FROM Table WHERE ...)
    SELECT ..., (SELECT ... FROM FROM Moo Moo2 WHERE Moo2.Id = Moo.Id + 1)
    FROM Moo CONNECT BY Id = PRIOR Id + 2;
    Or a join. Is there a better way to approach it?

    Pretty much everything you just said is wrong.
    >
    I generally keep away from CURSORs, as i want the DB to handle the set processing for me, as opposed to a CURSOR which tells the DB how to do it's job.
    >
    If you do any DB queries then you are using cursors. You have the wrong idea about them. All result sets are obtained using a cursor. A cursor does NOT tell a DB how to do a job; that is what the query and execution plan do.
    >
    (And, Tom Kyt's mantra of "You should do it in a single SQL statement if at all possible") But that's just a rule of thumb.
    >
    No - that isn't a rule of thumb. That is exactly what you should do if possible which is what I said. But I also said
    >
    Well the general use is to use SQL instead of PL/SQL but since you already need to use a function you might as well make that function as efficient as possible.
    >
    If you are already using a function then you should get the most bang for the buck from it and make it as efficient as possible.
    >
    If the CURSOR is the most efficient, so be it. But as you point out, if i'm already going to use a CURSOR, i might as well do all the work in the CURSOR LOOP. Why bother switching contexts.
    >
    All queries are done using cursors. It isn't a question of whether they are more efficient; it is the only way possible. I think you are referring to a user creating an explicit cursor and performing explicit manipulation of that cursor. That isn't normally what you want to do.
    A cursor loop is the slowest way to process results especially if all you are doing is row-by-row processing to perform essentially SQL-related work. PL/SQL should be used for the transactional part of the processing. In your case that transactional use is consolidating two records together for specialized processing.
    As for context switches if you perform any PL/SQL you are going to have a context switch: functions, procedures, triggers. The function you already planned to use would have caused a context switch. What I am saying is that if you are going to perform a context switch then you want to maximize the amount of work (transactional work) done in the PL/SQL engine so that you minimize the context switching.
    You still haven't explained exactly why 2 records at a time is any more ideal than 1 or if you could also process 50, 100, or 10000 at a time. Is the limit what needs to be passed somewhere else? What is the reason for a max of two? What exactly are you doing with the data to prepare it before you have to pass it on?
    Bulk collect processing is more efficient, with fewer context switches, if you process 20, 50, or 100 records in the loop at a time.

  • How to save more than 2 records at a time in tabular form?

    I have a table name SAMPLE_TABLE, which has SNO,NAME items and one sequence name is SEQ_SAMPLE.
    i have one form based on SAMPLE_TABLE. my form is in tabular format, which has 5 records.
    in the layout wizard only NAME is displayed. SNO doesnot displayed.
    in the layout wizard, there is one push button named as SAVE.
    the code of SAVE button(When_Button_Pressed) is
    insert into sample_table values(seq_sample.nextval,:sample_table.name);
    clear_record;
    commit;
    my problem is :
    when ever i want to save one record at a time there is no problem.
    if i want to save more than 2 records at a time then sequence number is alloted for last record. other records have no sequence numbers.
    for example i want to insert 2 names as XYZ,PQR then
    the table look like this:
    sno name
    1 PQR
    XYZ
    if SNO is primary key then it doesnot work because of null value.
    can any one solve my problem?
    Thanks

    Is the block a database block or a control block,
    1. if database block, assign the primary key on a
    trigger like new record instance for each record
    enteredour's is a control block, ididnt get your point clearly
    could you make it clear how to assign a primary key on a trigger
    our criteria is we are having two block as lov_values and lov_name
    lov_values:
    lov_values_id (sequence generated)
    lov_id will be same for the all the values for a particular lov_name
    lov_values will be which we enter in the form which will be the only visuble colums on the form
    lov_name block:
    lov_name
    lov_id(sequence generated)
    could you help me with the code

  • XML import only creates one record at a time

    Hi All,
    I have an XML import map that automatically imports data into main product table. It's working fine when the XML file has only one main record. When it has more than one record, the import manager and import server can only import the last record in the file and skip the rest.
    I already checked the record matching tab. It correctly shows that all records will be created and 0 will be skipped. Even the log file indicates all records are created after I execute the map. Yet, when I try to look for them in the data manager, I can only find the last one. If I execute the map with the exact same file again, it will create one more record again and skip the rest.
    Someone else posted the same question a while back: Import map issue one record at a time. But it was never answered. Does anyone else have this issue? Is this a MDM bug?
    Thanks,

  • Reading long text for more records at a time

    Hi all,
    We have a requirement for which that data like textid textname textobject  and language  must  be taken in to an internal table and for each record in the internal table i  have to read the long text inorder to compare the long text for the given search text.
    If i use Read_text inside the loop and endloop it works but it may not be appropriate in performance point of view.
    Is there any function module which can read long texts for more records at a time.
    The long text data in STXL will be in raw data format right? is there any way to convert raw data to normal so that by hitting the STXL i can read the long text data for more than one record at a time.
    Thanks in advance
    sanju.

    HI Sanju,
    Below is a code snippet which describes reading a long text frm the screen and appending it into the internal table.This code is actually to read the text from the screen and inserting a record into STXl and STXH.
    From your query what i understood is that you are storing the long text from the screen into a internal table and so you not want to use the read_text FM due to performance issue.
    Since tdline(tline table) is 132 char long format i use this small logic to read the screen data and append it to my internal table.
    *Data Declarations
      DATA: lv_strlen TYPE i,
            lv_create TYPE boolean,
            lv_desc TYPE string.
      DATA: ls_text TYPE tline,
            ls_basic_text TYPE stxh.
      DATA: lt_text TYPE ztty_tline_tab.
      CONSTANTS:
       lc_tdid TYPE  thead-tdid VALUE 'Z001',
       lc_tdobject TYPE thead-tdobject VALUE 'Z_ALERTS'.
    *Appending the text to the internal table.
      lv_strlen = STRLEN( iv_alert_text-alert_text ).
      lv_desc = iv_alert_text-alert_text.
      IF lv_strlen < 132.
        ls_text-tdformat = '*'.
        ls_text-tdline = lv_desc.
        APPEND ls_text TO lt_text.
      ELSE.
    *logic to wrap text
        DO.
          ls_text-tdformat = '*'.
          IF STRLEN( lv_desc ) < 132.
            ls_text-tdformat = '*'.
            ls_text-tdline = lv_desc.
            APPEND ls_text TO lt_text.
            EXIT.
          ENDIF.
          IF lv_desc+132(1) <> ' '.
            CONCATENATE lv_desc(131) '-' INTO ls_text-tdline.
            lv_desc = lv_desc+131.
          ELSE.
            ls_text-tdformat = '*'.
            ls_text-tdline = lv_desc(132).
            lv_desc = lv_desc+132.
          ENDIF.
          APPEND ls_text TO lt_text.
        ENDDO.

  • How to upload records  in two different interface tables through WebADI.

    We have created custom integrator with two different interfaces to insert records in AP_INVOICES_INTERFACES and AP_INVOICE_LINES_INTERFACE. Also defined the custom layout in which we mention the header and lines column info to be displayed in the spreadsheet. When I tried to create document to upload the records into the interface tables, could find two different interface for header and lines , when we select the header and upload records into the AP_INVOICES_INTERFACES table it was successfull. But couldn't upload records inserted in Lines interfaces tables. How do we upload records in both the table do we have constraint with Web ADI can insert records to only one interface tables. Any recommendation highly appreciated.

    Raghu,
    Thanks for the reply,
    I have a concern, But if you are connecting a another database you have to create one more subreport and each time am creating connections across databases we have to create subreport and go for the design to show the record. Is it any way to have a common field or union records approach in crystal report 2008.
    For Example :
    Approach 1 :
    Emp name           Emp salary      (Common Header)
    Variable Field1    Variable field2   ( Iterations to be done here for records)
    Variable field 1 contains ---> emptbl(employee name), b.emptbl(employee name) (A database, b database, c database or any .db)
    Variable field2  contains --->  emptbl (salary info between databases)
    Approach 2:
    getting all the records and union all the records
    Thanks

    column_typeEach event record can have multiple audit table entries for it (its a helpdesk package). I need to calculate the average time for somebody to acknowledge an event. The difficulty is they can acknowledge multiple times so I only need the first (min) event_table.key. So I need to search Text1, Text2 and Text3 for the word "acknowledge" then I need to grab the Entrytime with the lowest value for event_table.key for that series of audit events (for the given event table record). THEN I need to subtract FirstTime in the eventtable from min(event_table.key), EntryTime in the audit_table. I then need to calculate and average acknowledge time per user.

    and ( event_table.text1 LIKE '%acknowledged%' OR event_table.text2 LIKE '%acknowledged%' OR event_table.text3 LIKE '%acknowledged%')

    and event_table.acknowledged = 1
    group by name_table.english_name,  Round( (86400*(event_table.entrytime - event_table.firsttime)) , 2) My problem is that I keep getting each userid several times. I want the average of the users acknowledge time for the given time period. So I need 1 entry per userid and the "Blah" column needs to hold the AVERAGE of all that users acknowledge times. Why cant I group by what I want to? I'm always forced to put all the fields in my "group by"!! Why can't I have the fields that I want in the report and ONLY group by the 1 field that I need to group by? This issue has been causing me grief for a long time now.
    I tried DISTINCT
    The other question is why do I have to put that long "round...." statement in the "group by"? Why cant I just put "blah"?
    I tried this too (and AGAIN, I cant use Blah.....why?)
    select name_table.english_name, ROUND(AVG(86400*(audit_table.entryTime - event_table.FirstTime)) , 2)
    SELECT
    name_table.english_name, ROUND(AVG(86400*(audit_table.entryTime - event_table.FirstTime)) , 2)
    MIN(audit_table.key) as jkey,
    ROUND(AVG(86400*(audit_table.entryTime - event_table.FirstTime)) , 2) as "Blah"
    FROM
    event_table,
    audit_table ,
    name_table
    WHERE
    event_table.serial = audit_table.serial
    and audit_table.userid = name_table.userid
    and name_table.column_type = 'Ack'
    and ( event_table.text1 LIKE '%acknowledged%' OR event_table.text2 LIKE '%acknowledged%' OR event_table.text3 LIKE '%acknowledged%')
    and firsttime >= to_date('06/23/2009 17:00:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    and firsttime < to_date('06/23/2009 17:40:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    and lasttime < to_date('06/23/2009 17:40:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    and event_table.acknowledged = 1
    group by name_table.english_name,  Round( (86400*(event_table.entrytime - event_table.firsttime)) , 2)
    )But that just tells me that event_table.firsttime is an invalid identifier! Even though is fully qualified.
    thanks for your time!

    Ok, here is a cleaned dump of what the records in the audit_table would look like for a single record in the event_table:
    jkey              serialnumber    userid  entrytime           text1                            text2  text3
    1132750         66443321         888         1/23/2008 11:04     Alert acknowledged by 3245     (null)     (null)
    1132803         66443321         888         1/23/2008 11:06     opened ticket 8871             (null)     (null)
    1132809         66443321         888         1/23/2008 11:04     Alert acknowledged by 3245.     (null)     (null)
    1134062         66443321         33         1/23/2008 11:21     opened ticket 8914             (null)     (null)
    1134063         66443321         33         1/23/2008 11:21     Alert tagged by 4357.             (null)     (null)
    1134205         66443321         33         1/23/2008 11:21     opened ticket 8914             (null)     (null)
    1134206         66443321         33         1/23/2008 11:21     Alert tagged by 4357.             (null)     (null)
    1134207         66443321         33         1/23/2008 11:21     Event closed by 4357             (null)     (null)Yes, I have to deal with duplicates too, which is another reason I need to get the first audit_table record (for a given event_table record) that says "acknowledged".
    So, in the above, I'll have an event_table record with a serialnumber of 66443321, and I'll tie it to this record (i.e. audit_table record(s) where sererialnumber= 66443321). Then, from this set of records (for a given event_table record) I need to get the entrytime for the FIRST entrytime (moving chronologically through jkey) that has a text field that says "acknowledged". In terms of chronological order, jkey and entry time should be equal.
    So one likely scenario, is that I do the report for a shift. In this case, I would expect the report to give me the average time in seconds (for the entire shift), for each userid that acknowledged an event_table record during that time. I actually tie userid to the name_table (using userid) in order to get the english_name (eg "Bob) for the actual report.
    So I don't want 5 entries for Bob:
    {code}
    english_name     avg. time to ack in seconds
    Bob     132
    Bob     44
    Bob     55
    Bob     66
    Bob     117
    {code}
    I want 1 line with the average of all of these records:
    {code}
    english_name     avg. time to ack in seconds
    Bob     82.8
    {code}
    Getting very close now!
