802.11 parameters

Hello everyone,
I need a way to access 802.11 parameters like received signal strength (RSSI), basic service set (BSSID), basic service set scan list, ... of wireless card from a Java class.
I have a Dell Latitude D400 with Windows XP SP1 and two wireless card (integrated Intel Pro2100 and PCMCIA Cisco Aironet.
I've already tried libraries like JWRAPI (it's the porting a WRAPI, a C library that read/write 802.11 parameters through a NDIS-compliant driver) but it doesn't work because it can't open NDIS device (don't know why...)

I also tried the placelab.I find it OK.And i tried to download it to my PDA.It didnot show any errors,also the ooutput.there were no listings of the SSID of access points.
So, i am trying to write my own code using j2me with those packages.
But my problem is how to access or import those packages into my own application.

WiSM2 WLC 7.2 Maximum Allowed Clients under Global Parameters 802.11a/n b/g/n

Hello everyone,
Just loaded the 7.2.103.0 software onto the brand new WiSM2. Going throught the options and have found that under the global parameters for 802.11a/n, 802.11b/g/n radios is now the "Maximum Allowed Clients" option. The allowed setting is from 1 - 200 clients.
Does that mean only 200 clients will be allowed to associate to the WLC on that radio at a maximum?
Doesn't seems to make sense... I have the 500 AP license on this WiSM2... I know this option used to be an optional setting under a WLAN in previous releases.
Any ideas?

As what Scott has responded, this means 200 clients per WAP.
If you do exceed 200 clients per WAP (or whatever value you put in there) the clients will just get a nag and the system will let you in eventually.

How do I convert a file size to decimal so I can assign an isbn to my book? my size is 802 kb and have no idea what this means.

I am an independent author that has purchased the batch of 10 isbn's from bowker. When I put in all the information to assign the isbn to my book, it tells me the file size must be converted to decimal. I have searched the internet and understand that one meg would be 10^6 but what is it if it is over or under one meg? my file size is 802 kb. so would that be .802 x 10^6? I have tried this and it still will not accept it. Can someone please help me with this as I have spent 250 dollars and bowker has zero customer support and refuses to answer this question.

Problem while sending FAX (Error Message 802 if checked in SOST)

Hi all,
I'm using FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 to send Email and Fax through ABAP prog.
The Email is going fine but there is a problem in sending Fax, when i chek in SOST i get the following message.
Msg No 802 No delivery to 0091802299922, as recipient unknown.
This is my Fax No. +91 91-80-2299922

NOT Using Named Parameters in a Native Query

Hi!
like it is written in the Toplink JPA Extensions reference Toplink supports using named parameters in native queries.
See example from http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/jpa/resources/toplink-jpa-extensions.html:
Example 1-11 Specifying a Named Parameter With #
Query queryEmployees = entityManager.createNativeQuery(

But I want to use "#" in the SQL statement so I want to disable this parameter binding somehow and let the query just execute the SELECT statement I deliver.
I have tried to add the property
<property name="toplink.jdbc.bind-parameters" value="false"/>
into the persistence.xml and I have also tried to add the query hint
query.setHint(TopLinkQueryHints.BIND_PARAMETERS, HintValues.FALSE);
but none of them prevents the # to be uses as a paramter. this causes the exception:

ISE 1.2, Supplicant configured for 802.1x but need to MAB

I posted this yesterday but deleted the thread thinking I had fixed the issue - alas I was wrong. In summary I have a scenario where I am doing wired 802.1x and also wired MAB/CWA. The issue is that a certain number of external/BYOD hosts have supplicants configured for 802.1x at their "home" organisations which for obvious reasons can't authenticate on this network. The idea is that MAB and CWA become a fallback but these hosts in question don't efficiently fail to MAB.
If the host has validate server certificates enabled (and doesn't have our root selected) then 802.1x fails and goes to MAB as per the tx timers etc. Hosts that don't validate certificates essentially fail authentication, abandon the EAP session and start new... this process seems to continue for a very long time.
Does anyone have any similoar experiences and if so can you provide some info? I am looking into tweaking 802.1x port timers to make this fail quicker/better but am not confident this will fix the issue.

Maybe the held-period and quite-period parameters would help. I would not change the TX period to anything shorter than 10 seconds. Every cisco doc that I have ever seen has said this same recomendation and I can tell you from experience you will have devices at times that will authenticate via MAB when you dont want them to if you decrease lower than 10 seconds.

ratelimit-period seconds
Throttles the EAP-START packets that are sent from misbehaving client PCs (for example, PCs that send EAP-START packets that result in the wasting of switch processing power). The authenticator ignores EAPOL-Start packets from clients that have successfully authenticated For the rate-limit period duration. The range is from 1 to 65535. By default, rate limiting is disabled.

802.1X and automatic vlan assignment

I'm testing a 802.1X infrastructure :
Switch : Try with Netgear Prosafe GS728TPS and Cisco SF300
Radius Server : Microsoft NPS
DHCP Relay for address assignement by Vlan
I have created some policies with simple authentication for testing (MSCHAP V2) and vlan assignement or not (depend on Active Directory Group).
All work fine on a Windows 7 Pro. The user 1 is authenticated whithout vlan and the user 2 is authenticated with a vlan.
The DHCP works fine and the 2 users have an IP.
When I try on MAC OS X (ver. 10.7.2 and ver. 10.9.2) the user 1 (whithout vlan) work fine. I have an IP and access to the LAN. But the user 2 (with vlan) don't work. The Mac don't get an IP and I'm not on the VLAN. If i push manually an IP of the vlan, I have no access to the VLAN.
There are some specifics parameters to add for enable vlan on Mac OS X ?

Grzegorz is right.
You can read all the flat file and remove the first two and last two lines using a mapping.
Check this link. There are some content conversion parameters in the sender file adapter that can be helpful

802.1x and Cisco IP phones

I have 802.1x configured on a Cisco 2950 switch. On ports where I have PCs plugged into the data port on the IP phones users sometimes get placed in the guest vlan. If they shut down their attached PC and then unplug the network cable (the one between the switch and the phone), then re-plug in the cable and boot their PC it seems to authenticate them again.... sometimes. The config for the ports with phones configured is as below:

You can configure the MSFT supplicant to send an EAPOL-Logoff:
Software\Microsoft\EAPOL\Parameters\General\Global\AuthMode -- REG_DWORD
0: Machine authentication mode in Windows XP Client RTM. When a user logs in, if the connection has already been authenticated with Machine credentials, the users credentials are not used for authentication.
1: Machine authentication with re-authentication functionality. Whenever a user logs in, 802.1X authentication is performed using the users-credentials.
2: Machine authentication only Whenever a user logs in, it has no effect on the connection. 802.1X authentication is performed using machine credentials only.
In the wired-Ethernet case you should set (SupplicantMode = 3) AND (AuthMode = 0) AND (disable Machine-Authentication OR ensure that there are no machine credentials on the client). This will ensure that when a user logs off, an EAPOL-Logoff will be sent out. So, AFAIK, this is the bad news .. you lose machine-auth.
Actually, stay tuned for the ability for our IP Phones to be able to do this on behalf of a PC very soon. What will happen is when an IP Phone senses EAPOL through it, it will know who the supplicant is, and what port they're on (the phone's PC port). Assuming 2 conditions above, if link to phone's PC port goes down, IP Phone will transmit EAPOL-Logoff to PC immediately (on PCs behalf).

Our own IT department's been trying to get it to work for a while, but it seems Nokia's implimentation of 802.1x just plain does not work properly in that configuration.

802.1x VLAN assignment + Microsoft IAS

Here is what I am tring to do:
a Windows XP client is authenticating via 802.1x to a cisco switch. The switch "talks" to a IAS radius serveur (microsoft). That works fine, the user can login and the port opens up. Cisco developed a feature in a recent software release whereby the radius server can also tell the switch what VLAN to place the freshly-authenticated port in (that's the part I can't get to work - the fact that I am totally new to Radius probably doesn't help either). I know that the switch expects the following parameters within the Access-accept:
a) Tunnel-Type(#64)=VLAN (13)
b) Tunnel-Medium-Type(#65)=802 (6)
c) Tunnel-Private-Group-ID(#81)=VLANID
How Can I define these parameters in IAS ? I tried severals things but know one worked. If someone has experience, please let me know .... Thanx !

802.1X Network based

I am trying to setup 802.1X Authentication in a HP LaserJet M9050 (MTF)
I access to the embeded Web Server in Networking>Security>802.1X Authentication:
I tryed with some values but i receive in a radius Server the request but the result is a Denyed Request, so the switch is working fine, but i think i am having a mistake in the 802.1X Athentication option in the printer.
I have searched for the exact meaning of the parameters of the configuration but i can not find anything talking details about the psrameters:
Server ID: i supuse is the IP of the Radius Server (or is the hostname? anything else?)
When is necessary to use: Require Exact Match (for the server ID)
Encryption Strength: Has 3 values one of them is Medium (RC-128-bit or 3DES-168-bit)
I think this is related to use of certificates but here is any more question: can i work or configure 802.1X without certificates for PEAP in this printer?
In case necesary of using certificates i have a Certificate Authority that has its own requester but needs to be installed in the supplicant, how can i use another CA to generate certificates related to my own CA?
What mean Authenticate Behaviour: is needed to be checked? when? (Reauthenticate on Apply) I suppuse is used when i apply the configuration, is correct?
Last question is: Is necesary to use certificates in this printer in order to use 802.1X authentication?
What type of certificates are allowed by the jetDirect certificate opcion if i load the certificate of my own CA?
