806 home and ias home related

Hello,
806/network/admin/ we have listerner.ora and tnsnames.ora.
Ias/network/admin we have listerner.ora and tnsnames.ora
I am bit confused why this files are used and all that.
806 listener is used by appslistener to get started. If this file is not there appslistener wll nt start(FNDSM and FNDFS)wil not be invoked.rite?
806 tnsnames.ora is used by concurrent manager, forms, reports to connect to database and function.rite?
ias listerner.ora wll be used by modplsql component to connect to database along with wdbsvr.app.
as tnsnames.ora wll be used by appslistener so tat we can view log and out files.
This is what i understood.Kindly tell me if iam wrong and if anything to be know.
Thanks,
928714.

806 listener is used by appslistener to get started. If this file is not there appslistener wll nt start(FNDSM and FNDFS)wil not be invoked.rite?Correct.
806 tnsnames.ora is used by concurrent manager, forms, reports to connect to database and function.rite?Correct.
Please also note that the above files is used to view the concurrent requests log/output files.
ias listerner.ora wll be used by modplsql component to connect to database along with wdbsvr.app.There is no listener.ora under $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/<CONTEXT_NAME> directory
as tnsnames.ora wll be used by appslistener so tat we can view log and out files. It is be used by modplsql component to connect to database along with wdbsvr.app (as you mentioned above).
Thanks,
Hussein

  • What are the Oracle Home and GRID home directory locations for Oracle 12c (12.1.0.5) release

    Hello All,
I plan to install and configure Oracle 12c Cloud Control console on a single standalone server and the version is Oracle 12.1.0.5. All the databases which are installed across in the entire farm/landscape are these versions:
    Oracle 10.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 10.2.0.4 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.5 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 11.2.0.1 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC Enterprise Edition
All Oracle databases across these versions will use the same version of Oracle Grid since ASM is used for all the Oracle database across Production/Test/Development databases. The OS is RHEL 5.8, RHEL 6.3, OEL 6.3 versions.
When installing the Oracle 12c Cloud Control what is the Oracle and Grid Home directory location need to set to. Please let me know if there are any other additional configurations needed?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
    Regards,
    Abhijit

First off, the only EM CC release out right now is 12.1.0.2, not sure where you got 12.1.0.5 (DB Plugin maybe?).
Second, you're confusing EM CC homes with DB/Grid homes.
EM CC will need it's own Oracle Home (i.e. /opt/oracle/product/em_12.1.0.2).   You will need to provide repository database connection information, but EM does not care what home the db or grid is installed in.
I would recommend reviewing the documentation as well as the references on OTN -

I think technically, there is no issue in putting the Clusterware under the Oracle Base but this may be a trouble for doing in-future the maintenance jobs like patching etc. I haven't seen it happening but I am sure that if done, it should work.
    2. is CRS_HOME or ORA_CRS_HOME the correct environment variable for Clusterware. It's CRS_HOME which is the correct one.

  • Separating ASM home and DATABASE home?

I just installed a new 2 node cluster on linux Itanium and I have configured my CLUSTERWARE_HOME and DATABASE_HOME. We are using ASM for our database storage and I had used dbca to create the ASM instances and when I ran the dbca to create the new ASM instance I used the dbca from the DATABASE_HOME.
I have been told that I should have created an additional home for the ASM instance? Is this correct and is this a best practice for RAC and ASM?
Everything is up and running fine and I and pondering if it is worth reconfiguring so that we can have a separate ASM home?
Is there a good doc out there concerning how to reconfigure the home for ASM once it is up and runnig and my database is currently utilizing it for it's storage?
I know that I would just have to lay down the binariies into a new directory but what alse needs to change? Will this affect how the ASM instances are registered with the clusterware?
What is the real benefit of having them separate? I have been told that you can patch then separately but I don't see the benefit as the db would have to be down anyhow if the ASM instance would need to be patched?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    << Oracle Documentation >>
Keep the following in mind when installing ASM:
When running more than one database instance on a single server or node, it is recommended that you install ASM in its own Oracle home on that server or node. This is advisable even if you are running only one database instance but plan to add one or more database instances to the server or node in the future.
With separate Oracle homes, you can upgrade and patch ASM and databases independently, and you can deinstall database software without impacting the ASM instance.
If an ASM instance does not already exist and you select the OUI option to install and configure ASM only, OUI installs ASM in its own Oracle home.
If you are running a single database instance on a server or node and have no plans to add one or more database instances to this server or node, ASM and the database can share a single Oracle home
If an ASM instance does not already exist and you select the OUI option to create a database that uses ASM for storage, OUI creates this single-home configuration.

  • HT2731 can i have more than one apple id on a computer? As when we go away we want to facetime from our macpro to our main mac at home and both are registered under the same apple ID. Thanks

Can you have more than one apple id on a computer. We are going away and want to facetime from our macpro to the mac computer at home but both are registered under the same apple ID. What should we do ?

I will share with you what I have done to manage this with my family.  While the solution isn't without flawes, it seems to do the trick.  First, you need to have one person who is managing the synching of everyone's devices.  In my family, I have three iphones, about to be four, and five ipads.  We all synch to the same apple ID to allow one another to take seemless advantage of our Itunes, which is on our Imac.  To synch individual music or video interests, we simply select which playlists we want and manually synch that way.  A couple of us use imatch and the cloud to make the entire library accessable as well.  With respect to the imessage, mail, contacts, etc. we each have a gmail account for our individual emails, contacts etc.  So for instance, my forth grade daughter has a gmail account that we choose to synch her contacts, calendar, etc to and then that is also the account where she receives her imessages from on her ipad and itouch. My son, who has an iphone and ipad, does the same thing, but under settings, he goes to imessage and checks his phone number and his email as his preferred way to receive imessages and texts.  My wife and I do the same thing.  To avoid having everyone see one anothers contracts etc, we only synch contacts from our individual email accounts.  Here is the downfall to this:  When you update your phone or add a new device, apple always wants to reset everyone's facetime and imessage settings and then low and behold we are all receiving imessages from one another's friends etc.  To work around this, I simply take each of their devices and go to their imessage settings and only check the email and phone numbers relative to their devices.  I dont' know is this is the best solution, but it seems to work for us.

  • Exchange Online Plan 1 use with Office Home and Business 2013 License

Question: Does the Office Home & Business 2013 Outlook work properly with Exchange Online Plan 1?  (are there limitations?)
As a farm dealership needing 44 licenses (very light Office product use except email), I'm struggling with the sustaining cost of Office365 Bus Prem.  I've pretty much settled on buying Outlook 2013 instead of any subscription models.  Office Home
and Business list price is $219 making a one time purchase cost $9639. I can do that once. (O365BP is $7,920 annual).   Outlook 2013 stand-a-lone will run me around $3500 once plus $2112 annual.  I'd really like the full office package.  I wish
the pricing worked out better for rural, light use businesses.

  • Is Office Home and Business 2013 fully compatible with Sharepoint Online (Office 365)?

My client recently upgraded 3 Windows 7 PCs (2-32 & 1-64-bit OS) from Office 2007 32-bit (which was actually working fine against Exchange/SharePoint Online) to Office Home and Business 2013 (32-bit)
Now, for all 3 PCs, while Office 2013 Word/Excel can open, check out/in, and save SharePoint Online files, there is ALWAYS a 2 minute delay in closing the file which is apparently waiting for the Local Security Authority call to return. This seems
to indicate an issue related to SharePoint security on the client side.
      Problem Event Name: AppHangXProcB1
      Application Name:
    WINWORD.EXE
      Application Version:
    15.0.4657.1000
      Waiting on Application Name:
    lsass.exe:lsasspirpc
This is the Local Security Authority Security Support Provider Interface Remote Procedure Call (LSA SSPI RPC)
My client has 66 licenses for SharePoint Online (Plan 2) and 73 Exchange Online (Plan 1) "stand alone" services. The same failure is happening on 3 Win 7 PCs. All of which I've carefully reviewed against the MS Office trouble shooting guides (start
    Windows OS w/out non-MS services, Word/Excel safe mode w/out add-ons, O365 readiness checks, Office repair, etc.). We have PCs running Win 7 (32 & 64-bit) w/Office 365 ProPlus & Office Professional Plus 2013 that work fine. it's JUST these 3 Win 7
PCs that were upgraded from Office 2007 to Office Home and Business 2013 that have the 2 min. SharePoint file close time.
Can you please confirm that Office Home and Business 2013 is compatible w/SharePoint Online
at least for Excel and Word?
The "slow close" problem can be demonstrated on multiple site collections/sub sites and w/Excel & Word docs in doc libs and lists
After many hours capturing information, following the MS Office trouble shooting guides, and repairing the Office install, I've had no luck in resolving this. While Word/Excel will eventually close SharePoint Online files after about
2 minutes, this is certainly unacceptable. Otherwise, locally stored files close normally and new files were created by the Office 2013 Excel/Word for this testing.
Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi raygabe,
I couldn't find the document mentioned there is any compatibility between Office365 SharePoint online and Office Home and Business 2013 version, I would recommend that you check if the issue could be reproduced on other Win7 machines installed with Office
Home and Business 2013 installed directly instead of upgrading from Office2007, see if issue is related to Office application upgrade.
I also recommend that you post this issue on our dedicated Office365 SharePoint online forum and Office 2013 forum for a better assistance with more experts regarding this issue from the following links.

  • Difference in sound from A2Z and DVD home equipment

    Hi,
Does anybody tell how different in sound from Audigy 2ZS and home theater system. What i mean by this is the output system is the same (Home theater speakers, surround receiver). The only difference is signal source, either from sound Blaster A 2ZS or from home DVD player.
As far as i understand, the A 2ZS wont maximize its utilities if we select the SPDIF pass through and the signal will be sent directly to the external decoder. Am i correct to say this? and if so, the sound quality is totally subject to the external decoder and speakers systems. But i have read couple audiophile forums, it said that the sound varies according to CD/DVD player, how come we have this.
To conclude, any strenghs of A2ZS over home CD/DVD player interms of sound quality?
    Appreciate if anybody could tell.

Well sound in this context is made up of 3 componemts: source, amp and speakers. The 3 things to watch are THD (total harmonic distortion), S/N (signal to noise ratio) and Frequency Responce.
For a good system you need <0.0% THD, S/N >20 Db and frequency responce at least as wide as 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
There is a difference between listening to music, which is best in stereo, and home theatre, which is designed for spacial effects rather than reproducing high quality music.
To address your question directly it is not possible to answer because you wish to compare a disc player with what in this instance may be described as a switch/router.
In relation to sound between the Audigy 2 ZS and my home theatre system there is a world of difference even though they are interconnected. That may be because of a 25 fold difference in cost though.
Home theatre should include video switching as well, normally incorporated in the amp and called an AV amp. Spend money on a good one of these and you won;t go wrong. Look for 6 powered channels with a minimum power of 30 RMS per channel. In stereo mode the 2 channel amps should be class A. In 5. mode you will not get the above specs unless you are intent on spending serious money.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Why do HOME and END ignore focus in text fields?

I just noticed that the HOME and END keys seem to ignore focus in a text field on webpages.
Normally, they go to the beginning and end of a webpage, which is perfectly fine with me. And in fact it's quite useful on really really long webpages.
However, when my cursor is in a text field (“focused”), I expect HOME to go to the beginning of the line and END to go to the end of the line. However, this is not the case.
    1. Does anybody know why this is the case?
    2. Does anybody know if this can be changed to my desired behavior?

    Well, I'll be damned!
I feel a bit sheepish, but I'd never noticed that that was the way Home and End worked everywhere. For some reason I had assumed it was Safari-only. Once I read your post, I was purposely mindful about the keys I was using, and I realized that I'd learned to automatically use ⌘← and ⌘→ when editing text elsewhere. Weird.
I think this probably arose from the fact that my first Apple computer was a laptop, and since Home and End are built into the arrow keys on the smaller keyboard, I suppose it was enough to mask the difference.
    *Follow-up question:*
Is there a technical / usability / official reason for this discrepancy? I remember being taught the function of Home and End in computer classes in Elementary School (late 80s and early 90s for me). Some of the computers in these classes were Apple and some where PCs. (I acknowledge that Apple during that time is not the same as Apple after Steve Jobs returned as CEO, but if the cause of this difference is Apple vs. Microsoft related, then I thought it was possibly relevant.)

I've no idea if it's related, but recently I started getting an error on my Box Sync desktop client, saying "Navigation to webpage cancelled". This is their response. It means nothing to me, and I didn't even try the solution because it seems too much effort. But is it possible the "Skype home unavailable" issue is related?
We made a recent security change to our servers because of the SSL3 Vulnerability. Our servers are now blocking SSLv3. This may cause your Box access with Internet Explorer (IE) to show an error message: "This page can't be displayed". (This issue may also affect Box Sync, Box Edit, Box for Office, Box for Outlook)
This can be fixed in IE Advanced Settings for SSL/TLS. Microsoft is working on a security update for the IE browser. Until then, please apply the workaround below:
Individual Users: Disable SSL 3.0 and enable TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Internet Explorer
You can disable the SSL 3.0 protocol in Internet Explorer by modifying the Advanced Security settings in Internet Explorer. To change the default protocol version to be used for HTTPS requests, perform the following steps:
On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.
In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
In the Security category, uncheck Use SSL 3.0 and check Use TLS 1.0, Use TLS 1.1, and Use TLS 1.2 (if available).
    Click OK.
    Exit and restart Internet Explorer.
Note After applying this workaround, Internet Explorer will fail to connect to Web servers that only support SSL up to 3.0 and don’t support TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2.
Your access to Box should work fine after applying the changes above and restarting IE.

  • I have a dual 1.8 ghz pwer pc g5 and sometimes i put it in sleep mode and come home on my lunch break and the fan is running at full speed and the computer has frozen up...what is going on here?

and sometimes i put it in sleep mode and come home on my lunch break and the fan is running at full speed and the computer has frozen up...what is going on here? is it a virus or has my computer been hijacked? it cant be good for the computer...anyone ever had this problem..?

Your problem has been reported many times, but causes are as varied as individuals.
Can we assume that a hard shutdown allows a normal restart?
Can I assume that you have used Disk Utility from your OS X install disc to repair the hard drive directory? The freezes and hard shutdowns require that the drive be repaired (not permissions) or soon the machine won't boot at all.
If the root issue is software related, in Console (the application) under Logs, there should be loggings around the time of sleep and logs that tell you what process went wild and froze the machine.
Network activity is also a common casue.
    Other info:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1776
If hardware related, such as an external drive, other USB device (Wacom tablet) or USB PCI card, ejecting, disconnecting, removing, or in the case of the Wacom, updating drivers, are all potential remedies.

  • Home and End Keyboard mapping in Flash ActionScript / Actions Editor

I'm just getting used to using an OS X machine for development rather than a Windows based PC and have hit upon a problem which I would love to solve...
On my full-size Mac keyboard I would like the Home and End keys to operate as they do in a Windows environment such that Home goes to the beginning of the current line and End goes to the end. By default OS X Home scrolls to the top of the window and End scrolls to the bottom. Lovely for web browsing. Useless for coding!
I found this post elsewhere which has helped. It's 'fixed' my problem in both XCode and TextEdit.
But both Flash and Terminal (e.g. vim) are still using Home and End for window scroll.
I'm assuming that Flash and Terminal hook the keyboard at a different level. The question is whether it's possible to alter this behaviour. I've looked through all the Preferences in Flash but cannot find anything regarding keyboard mapping.
    Anybody solved this one?
    Thanks.

    Thanks ! ,
Probably it will be more interesting to have OS X by default behave smarter related to key bindings,
for example if this is a read-only doc ( pdf, webpage ) then Home goes to the beginning of the doc, if this is some text editing control then beginning of the line. Or integrate globally an option that will allow to propagate this globally. If any app needs to override this than will pop some system settings to allow the override for this app. There is no point in a text editor to have common used keys as dead keys. In the end I can use Ctrl + A / E to do the same I would with Home / End. This is one of those things that bugs me. Some unthinkable small blockers here and there ...
Why this is bugging people is because when you edit text you focus on a small area and you need you to navigate in that area quickly. In this context to press home to go to the beginning of the doc (or even do nothing) is not typical because to move away from things that interests you there are the page up/down or click on the scroll and move where you need.
