9 slice scaling on swf loaded with loadmovie

If you load a swf into another swf that has a MC on the stage with 9 slice scaling setup, should 9 slice scaling work within that loaded SWF and MC? I've tried it and it doesn't in my case but wanted to be sure that this isn't a bug or limitation?
Thanks,
Paul.

Because realtime non-bitmap rendering is far slower on iPad1 I ended up just bitmapping everything possible. I only draw what's absolutely necessary now. I gave up on 9-slice, there is no way to outline it in any way that's performance friendly on ipad1.
Chalk it up to a bug.

  • Resizing a movie loaded with loadMovie()

    I'm looking to resize a movie that was loaded with
    loadMovie() into a movie clip. Once it's finished playing I want it
    to reduce down in size. Any ideas?
    loadMovie("test.swf",main_Movie);
    main_Movie is the empty movie clip, its a simple rectangle
    that is 550 x 400 so it fills the whole stage.
    Any ideas, or if you need more info please let me know.

    Rob-
    You can scale movie clips by a percentage or resize by
    directly manipulating the width and height values.
    main_Movie._xscale = 50; //scale width by 50%
    -or-
    main_Movie._width = 20; //set width to 20 pixels
    For more information check:

    I hope that helps.

  • Xcelsius Parent/Child SWF Loader with BICS Connections

    We have several Xcelsius Dashboards that use BICS connections to retrieve data from BW queries that we'd like to combine into one Parent/Child tabbed dashboard. I can't seem to find solid information on if this is possible using a SWF Loader component due to the BICS requirement of being published through BW Portal and not InfoView. Does anyone have any ideas (short of combining them into one huge dashboard due to the volume of data)? Thanks!

    Hi Chris,
    I have been working with SWF loader on the SAP portal using the BICS connection type. It was not supported last time I asked about a year ago. However, it can work if you specify the URL in the SWF loader in this way:
    http://sapwebdisp.vestas.net:8103/bicsremotebex?SWF=XXX&TIMESTMP=1318867468000
    XXX is the name you publish your child dashboard under. Data can be exchanged between the parent and child dashboard by using the custom component "Data sharer" from Inovista which can be downloaded for free:
    http://www.inovista.com
    Besides the fact that this setup is unsupported there are some limitations so from my point of view it should only be applied under the following conditions:
    1. It is not possible to build eveything into a single dashboard.
    2. A solution having several independent dashboards does not make sense.
    An alternative might be the setup described in note 1526291. The way I understand it, it binds the dashboards together in a similar way as on a BO server with flash variables.

  • 9-slice scaling doesn't work with rotation - bug!

    I have a simple graphic, a rectangle with 3 rounded corners with 9-slice scaling applied. When I scale it non-proportionally, the round corners keep their shape as expected. BUT if I then rotate it the round corners lose their shape and become ellipticaly distorted! If I rotate first and then scale the same thing happens. WT...??

    you're correct.
    it doesn't matter whether the scale9Grid is created in the ide or with actionscript.
    it's probably been reported because i think that's been a problem for a long time:  https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • Inconsistent loading with loadmovie, whats a trick for this?

    loadMovie(imagePath,"loadImage");
    the imagePath value is dynamically set to an image on the
    server based on the users interaction.
    loadImage is an empty movie clip sitting on that timeline
    that receives the loadMovie command.
    one frame after the loadMovie command I set the width and
    height. four frames after that I have a stop();
    the user does a few things, and the timeline that contains
    the loadmovie reruns itself using the new imagePath to pull in a
    new movie. This has about a 25% failure rate when it first starts
    up. Even if im reloading the same image, or if i flip back and
    forth between loading different images, eventually one image will
    not load up anymore, and then the other image wont either, and
    eventually none of the images load. If i close the whole thing down
    and relaunch it, im good to go again for a few times but then
    eventually nothing loads up again. Theres possibly a timing issue
    here. Anyone dealt with this before and know what the general rules
    are for getting this type of setup to work with loadMovie?

    Don't use loadMovie. Use the MovieClipLoader class, and its
    associated
    onLoadInit. You can't simply set the width, or anything else
    for that
    matter, a frame later - as likely the clip is not yet loaded.

  • Problems targeting swf loaded with loadClip()

    Hi everyone,
    I'm having a really weird problem that I hope someone will be able to help me with. I'm using Actionscript 2.0.
    Basically, I have a main .swf, into which I am loading another .swf using loadClip(), on the click of a button. It loads into an empty movie clip on the timeline of the main .swf called container_mc. So far so good, this works.
    The problem comes when I am trying to control a movie clip that lives on the timeline of the external .swf. This clip has the instance name test_mc, and I'm trying to control it using the reference _level0.container_mc.test_mc. I have also tried just plain old container_mc.test_mc.
    Neither of these work, though when I apply a trace to test_mc with Actionscript on the timeline of the external swf (test_mc.onRelease = function () { trace(this); }), it returns the path _level0.container_mc.test_mc (when clicked on after being loaded into the main movie, obviously).
    Can anybody give me any ideas as to what is going wrong here? I've attached a couple of files demonstrating the problem I'm having.
    Cheers for any assistance!

    Thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy or stupid in thinking that's what the reference should be (honestly, I was starting to imagine that I must be one of the two), however I definitely only have one each of container_mc and test_mc. I've just tested this by changing the instance names (one at a time) - if there was a duplicate instance with the same name, the code would presumably still work, which it doesn't.
    Thanks for the suggestion, though.

  • Control size with loadMovie

    Can you specify the size of the movie you're loading with
    loadMovie? I have a swf that is much larger than it should be that
    I need to display within another swf at a much smaller size. Here's
    what I have so far:
    randomNum = Math.ceil(Math.random()*2);
    MainFlashMovie = "media/swf/ft-homepage" + randomNum +
    ".swf";
    loadMovie(MainFlashMovie, "smashGrab");
    stop();
    Thanks!

  • Rendering of SWF Loader child SWFs

    I am using the swf loader with an Xcelsius OpenDoc link (http://<server>:8080/Xcelsius/opendoc/documentDownload?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=<CUID>&sKind=Flash&CELogonToken=<CELogonToken>)  and it works beautifully so long as the parent swf is also opened using and OpenDoc link.  However, if the parent swf is opened via InfoView, the child swf does not render properly (either way too large or too small).  Has anyone else come across this or have any ideas for resolution?

    Try wrapping it as a component with the Flex component kit.
    That way you
    get to specify the bounding box.

  • Problem with external swf loading

    this is the code I'm using that works
    onClipEvent(load){
    this.loadMovie ("2.swf", "b");}
    Text
    and when I use another swf to load, it won't work anymore.
    Any help would be apreciated

    you can't decrease the total time it takes for you external swfs to load.  you can start those swfs loading in the background (while on frame 1, for example) but you need to be careful to preload only 1 swf at a time and not restart its download if it's already been started.

  • Embedded container swf loading swf with xml

    I'd call myself an intermediate AS3 newbe. I have a series of slideshows that is called by a 'container' Flash file.
    These slideshow swf files are now rather large (230 kb) so as a test, I redid one of them as a  Flash file that uses xml rather than the images called within the file itself (file size 68 kb), which is my first exploration into xml & AS3.
    All the non-xml files load and play fine locally (well, sort of, since there's some weird glitchs which show up in different ways at different times in the container loading too many files one after another at times - and sometimes there's no problem at all) but that's not my current problem here.
    Basic URL structure:  document relative
    1. container file (container.fla/container.swf) will be embedded in a html file. --> /Flash.container.swf The contain file has a series of links to other .swf files.
    2. The container file other .swf files (selection of 10) from a  subfolder called /sbrds i.e. --> UILoader loads "Flash/sbrds/albert.swf"
    3.  The albert.fla/albert.swf loads an xml slideshow from a subfolder of sbrds  called /AlBert  --> /Flash/sbrds/Albert code "loader.load(new URLRequest("AlBert/AlBertXX.xml"));"  (quotes in message only)
    4. Inside the /Albert folder I have the xml file and all the images. xml file  is AlBertXX.xml  (attached)
    5. local structure --> desktop/workingFiles/storyboards (container.fla) /Flash /sbrds (albert.fla) /Albert (Albertxx.xml & image.jpgs)
    would equal on the server as  root html/Flash/sbrds/Albert
    Locally... The albert.fla (in the /Flash/sbrds folder) itself works fine with no errors when calling the xml file.  But when I test that file from the container.fla/swf  I get a 2044/2032 error "Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: file:///.../myLocalDesktopFolder/storyboards/AlBert/AlBertXX.xml      at albert_fla::MainTimeline/albert_fla::frame1()"
    I've check and rechecked for any typos in the xml slideshow test and don't find any.  Any ideas?
    Could it be that I'm calling a xml driven file from a non-xml driven file?
    I have all the files including my buggy htm file at http://www.danwelter.com/susanTest_static.htm
    All the pertinent fla and image files are in the /flash folder (too many to attach).

    Hi Jan
    Apparently the update went into place on my personal laptop
    overnight last night. I awoke this morning to discover it had
    rebooted itself and it was patiently waiting for me to enter my
    bootup password. Anyhoo, I happened to notice that today when I
    hovered the mouse over my Captivate movie, I saw the dreaded
    “click to activate and use this control” message that
    popped up in a tooltip. What to do?
    Well, I did notice that it seemed to require a mouse click to
    "activate" the control, but simply running the movie seemed to be
    fine. I then wondered what would be disabled. When my movie got to
    the first button, the initial click was used to enable the control.
    Then the second click was accepted and progressed the movie.
    I hopped out on the web and found a page at the following
    URL:
    http://www.amarasoftware.com/flash-problem.htm
    After following the instructions there, my files seemed fine.
    Here are the steps I followed:
    1. Copied the code on the page and pasted into an empty
    Notepad.
    theObjects = document.getElementsByTagName("object");
    for (var i = 0; i < theObjects.length; i++) {
    theObjects
    .outerHTML = theObjects.outerHTML;
    2. Saved as file name ieupdate.js.
    3. Copied the link code and pasted between the closing object
    and center tags.
    Before:
    </object>
    </center>
    After:
    </object>
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="ieupdate.js"></script>
    </center>
    It occurs to me that one could easily modify the "seed" HTML
    page Captivate uses when it creates the HTML page. This page is
    named standard.htm and is found in the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Captivate\Templates\Publish
    This would save tweaking the HTM each time you publish. Then
    you would only need to worry about making sure you copied the
    associated ieupdate.js file to the same folder.
    You gotta love lawsuits. I really hope those that "won" are
    happy that we all now have to jump through all the hoops to make
    things work. Sheesh
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Problem loading .swf embedded with HTML

    Hi All,
    I have embedded .swf file with HTML. It is working fine with
    win xp and win 2003. But not working on win 2000 server.
    I have set the MIME in IIS for .swf.
    Please let me know what setting I should configure.

    does container exit on the timeline that contains your code?
    is master.swf in the same directory with your flash swf and
    html?

  • Creating High Score With loadMovie

    Hey,
    I'm trying to make a high score log for a bunch of flash
    games on my site. THe game I'm working on is called Double Wires.
    The ways I'm doing it is my loading the game into a seperate flash
    file using loadMovie, and in the flash file having a little box
    where the user can type in his name and submit his score. The mySQL
    part is not the problem. My problem is that I can't get the box
    where the user types in his or her name to appear on top of the
    game, so the user can actually see the box. So far my code for
    loading the main game swf is this:
    loadMovie("doublewires_main.swf", this);
    I have that code on frame one of layer one, and I have, on
    the layer above it, the box where the user's name is displayed.
    I have other highscore logs functioning, I just can't get
    this one to work. Here's an example of a working one:
    http://www.wintallo.com/highscores/tetris/tetris.php
    Thanks for the read! If you have any questions about... my
    question, please post a reply!

    you're replacing your main swf with doublewires. create a
    target movieclip and load your game into the target.

  • Change the SWF loading text for a single presentation

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Presenter/7.0/WS8815BC0A-5D22-4f29-87B9-D9047B5B57E4.html

    Hi,
      I have Adobe Presenter 7.0.5, in which with recently updating to 7.0.7 version.
    When I tried the fix of this "Change the SWF loading text for a single presentation" workaround fix, I passed to have the error:ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property ADOBE_PRESENTER not found on Pool_P75.Resource.UIText
    But before this error comes, I see that the loading text is changes from the original 2Adobe Presenter" to the one defined by me on the UIText, as the fix said.
    And what's happen is that the scrren with the loading text is not being changed by the learning first slide....
    Is there any workaround to correct that error?
    Many thanks in advance for any feedback from the adobe support team or from any other colleagues that are using Adobe Presenter (;-)).

  • Loading external SWF's into an SWF Loader as3 style?

    Hi,
    I've recently made the switch from as2 to as3 and am still struggling to get my head around one aspect in particular. I've managed to load one external swf into a blank file via the script
    import LoadDisplayObject;
    var loader:LoadDisplayObject = new LoadDisplayObject("button_01.swf", true);
    loader.addEventListener("displayObjectLoaded", onComplete, false, 0, true);
    addChild(loader);
    function onComplete(evt:Event):void {
         trace("loaded complete received");
         loader.scaleX = loader.scaleY = .75;
    .....however I'm struggling with the script to make a swfs load into a space when one of my 3 buttons is clicked....
    My page currently has three buttons (button_01, button_02 and button_03) and in a local folder three separate swfs with the same names which I wish to load in, when the appropriate button is pressed.
    I have managed to get them to load in using a tutorial...however they load over the top of each over...far from ideal. From research on the internet I've found a range of different script...but I just can’t find anywhere I can find script to make this work..hence why I have turned to here.
    Any help much appreciated...thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Just throught I would let you know that I've manged to get this to work this morning. Changed the script slightly and used a different method of:
    var home:MovieClip = this;
    function butt1Click(evt:MouseEvent):void {
        var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
        ldr.load(new URLRequest("button_01.swf"));
        ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, loaded);
    function butt2Click(evt:MouseEvent):void {
        var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
        ldr.load(new URLRequest("button_02.swf"));
        ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, loaded);
    function butt3Click(evt:MouseEvent):void {
        var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
        ldr.load(new URLRequest("button_03.swf"));
        ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, loaded);
    function loaded(evt: Event):void {
        if(contentClip.numChildren > 0){
            contentClip.removeChildAt(0);
        contentClip.addChild(evt.target.content);
    button_01.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, butt1Click);
    button_02.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, butt2Click);
    button_03.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, butt3Click);
    seems to work well. Only small question is if I want one page to load automatically upon opening...how do I alter the script to do this??? Thanks

  • Cross-domain SWF loading doesn't work

    I've been trying to get cross-domain SWF loading to work for
    a while now, but even though it works from the Flash IDE the loaded
    SWF is blank when I upload it to a webserver somewhere. And yes,
    both servers have a crossdomain.xml file in their root folder, and
    I've also used System.security.allowDomain("*"). I've published
    both using the 'using network' option in the publish dialog.
    Could someone please help me with this, as I can't seem to
    find why it isn't loading. I've also read the entire PDF about
    Flash 9 security, but I couldn't find anything about external SWF
    loading except for the crossdomain files.

    A little more color on this: If there are 2 or more messages in the active mailbox (and others in a different mailbox), the expand/collapse function works for the messages in the active mailbox. In the message column on the right, all the messages in the conversation are shown (both mailboxes). Only those messages in the active box are shown in the list column when the conversation is expanded. I can kind of see how this might be intentional, but it's strange to see lots of messages in the conversation in the right column, but only one or a few corresponding items in the messge list.
