A Conduit, a Palm database created with a MIDlet ... HELP!!!

Using a MIDlet I created a database called "Customers-VM00", with creator ID "VM00", this database has two records:
1) 48476472\Luis\Bello Ortega\201398400000\
2) 00000000\Jana\Hajkova\144288000000\
Ok, my goal is to get those two lines in my Conduit, but all I am able to get is this:
AbstractRecord: {
record id: 3
record index: 0
is deleted: false
is new: false
is archived: false
isPrivate: false
AbstractRecord: {
record id: 4
record index: 1
is deleted: false
is new: false
is archived: false
isPrivate: false
That is ... just info about the two records but ... WHERE IS THE STRING I NEED!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
This is the code I use in my Conduit to (try to) get the records:
count = SyncManager.getDBRecordCount(db);
rec = new RMSRecord();
// Loop over all records
for (i = 0; i < count; i++) {
rec.setIndex(i);
SyncManager.readRecordByIndex(db, rec);
// Print it out to file
out.write((rec.toFormattedString() + "\n").getBytes());
and now part of the code for RMSRecord:
private byte[] bytes = null;
public void readData(DataInputStream in) throws IOException {
          bytes = new byte[in.available()];
          in.read(bytes);
As you can see, the code is quite simple. HELP ME!!!!!

ops! I've just found a way to do it!!! heheheeh, sorry all the duke dollars are for me X))))
(I've done it using a PalmRecord and its method .getRawData();)

  • DROP a database created with SQL

    Hi,
    I am a newbe in Oracle administration. Usually I use Oracle as simple developper.
    I want to drop a database on a Oracle 10g database.
    I tried to connect to Oracle like this
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect sys as sysdba
    shutdown abort;
    startup mount exclusive restrict;
    I get the message :
    ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
    LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/dbs/inittest.ora'
    There is not any test db in Oracle. Why does it answer this ?
    So I modified the query to
    startup mount exclusive restrict pfile=/u01/app/oracle/oradata/P44SPRD/u01/pfile/pfileP44SPRD.ora;
    I get the message :
    ORA-00205: error in identifying control file, check alert log for more info
    I checked if the control file defined in pfileP44SPRD.ora exists. It does.
    I also tried to drop the database with DBCA. In the step 3 it asks me to select the database. The database is listed as follow :
    -e P44SPRD.
    I select it, I click on "Finish". It askes me to confirm. And then nothing happends.
    Has anybody any solution ? Any help would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Xavier

    Hi,
    Welcome to OTN forums first of all.
    Well , you should have looked at the reference doc for the command first,
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcmsynta027.htm#RCMRF190
    The drop database command has to be executed from the RMAN prompt.Did you do it from there only?
    Here is one reference note from JH explaining the same,
    http://www.idevelopment.info/data/Oracle/DBA_tips/RMAN_10g/RMAN10_5.shtml
    Can you show us the output of the following commands,
    $export ORACLE_SID=<your_sid><<--sid is your db name
    $sqlplus /  as sysdbaYou should be over sql prompt after this.Issue the command,
    alter system enable restricted session;And then from RMAN , isssue drop database.
    Tell us the output of the steps.

  • Merge Two Access Databases created with Test Stand

    Hello All,
    I am trying to merge 2 databases using LabVIEW.
    When I read the values from the first database some of the numeric fields in the table are NULL.
    When I try to write to the second database, those values are being written as 0 if integers and 0.0000 if doubles.
    Is there a way to write those values as NULL in the second database if they are Null numeric fields in the first database?
    Thank you in advance,
    Stoimen

    Hi Stoimen,
    I am not sure how the flow of your program goes, but you could use the Database Variant to Data to cast the database variant to another type.  This will accept the NULL values from the database and from there you can manipulate them how you wish.  This tutorial may also be helpful in explaining the Database Variant to Data function in LabVIEW, specifically this section: "The null type arises naturally when working with databases (fields in a record are allowed to have null values), so Database Connectivity Toolkit has a special Database Variant to Data function that handles null values, but detecting them requires several steps."
    I hope this helps!

    Thank you SO muchNed Murphy
    I'm a newbie to AS3 and I was trying to figure it out for past 2 weeks that why did swapChildren or setChildIndex or addChild, all of these made my Target Movieclip remain/duplicate/persist on the stage even after the layer containing the Target Movieclip has blank keyframes. I surfed so many forums and tutorials for the answer but turns out it was my lack of knowledge of basic concepts. I remember checking out this specific forum as well past week but due to it being "Not Answered" I skipped it. This should be marked as a "Correct Answer", The Empty MovieClip did the trick!
    I needed this solution for a Drag and Drop game, so that the current item that is being dragged is above all other graphic layers. And when all items are dropped on their correct targets, there is gotoAndPlay to Success frame label.
    I created a movieclip on the top layer with the same dimensions as the stage and put it at x=0 y=0 position. Instance name: emptymc
    And deleted the emptymc from the timeline during the Success frame label.
    Here is some code I used,
    1. MovieClip.prototype.bringToFront = function():void {
       emptymc.addChild(this);
    2.  function startDragging(event:MouseEvent):void {
      event.currentTarget.startDrag();
      event.currentTarget.bringToFront();
    I didn't know how to put the addChild and refer to the currentTarget in the startDragging function itself, for example
    emptymc.addChild(event.currentTarget);
    - This one didn't work inside the startDragging function "emptymc.addChild(this); "
    Is there a correct way I could have done it properly?
    Thanks,
    Dipak.

  • Palm Database access via Midlet application

    Hi.
    I'm trying to access a Palm database from within a Midlet application for the Palm.
    Is there a Java API that I can upload onto my Palm which will give me access to the Palm database ?
    Regards,
    Matt
    P.S. Here's what I've tried already.
    I cannot get hold of the KVMUtil.prc, nor it's associated SDK. It seems like it has been replaced by the MIDP SDK.
    RMS is the only database access provided in the MIDP suite, described in the following article :
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/wireless/midpdatabase/
    This is too generic for me - as it should be - midlets are supposed to run on more than just Palm devices.

    Hi Matt:
    I'll address your 5 major areas 1 at a time. This is only my opinion, only you can decide what will work best for you.
    Sun may have stated the Kjava API is not officially supported. However, Sun has enhanced the Kjava API since its initial release.
    1. I'm trying to access a Palm database from within a Midlet application for the Palm.
    What I'm doing is treating the com.sum.kjava classes as an add on package, using the JAR tool to include these classes prior to building the .PRC.
    2. Is there a Java API that I can upload onto my Palm which will give me access to the Palm database ?
    Yes, it is part of the j2me_cldc installation, see below. It will allow you access to any PDB on the Palm. Like Palm address, memo etc.
    3. I cannot get hold of the KVMUtil.prc, nor it's associated SDK. It seems like it has been replaced by the MIDP SDK.
    When a developer downloads and unZips the most recent versions of the two j2me files:
    j2me_cldc-1_0_2-fcs-winunix.zip
    j2me_cldc-1_0_2-fcs-kjava_overlay.zip
    the following directory structure is created
    c:\j2me_cldc\bin\common\api\classes;
    -- j2me_cldc
    -- bin
    -- common
    -- api
    -- classes
    -- com
    -- java
    -- util
    -- javax
    -- microedition
    -- io
    etc.
    As of 05/01/2001 the KVM.prc and KVMUtil.prc existed here: c:\j2me_cldc\bin\kjava\palm\
    When a developer downloads and unZips the most recent version the file:
    j2me_cldc-1_0-fcs-bin-b10-win-15_sep_2000.zip
    the following directory structure is created
    c:\midp-fcs
    -- classes
    -- java
    -- util
    -- javax
    -- microedition
    -- io
    -- lcdui
    etc.
    When a developer downloads and installs the most recent version the file:
    j2me_wireless_toolkit-1_0_2-ea-win.exe
    the following directory structure is created:
    c:\J2MEWTK
    --bin
    midpapi.zip
    etc.
    Three places to get the MIDlet classes each class has a different creation date too. I've installed the classes oldest to newest in my development environment.
    Check you classpath. I've created a setup.bat to configure the classpath.
    4. RMS is the only database access provided in the MIDP suite, described in the following article:
    No. It is one of two options, RMS and Kjava Database. However, it may not be a option for a Palm if the RMS Database cannot be created on a server and then HotSync'ed to a Palm. A Palm app would be pretty useless if we cannot instantiate its databases with data.
    5. This is too generic for me - as it should be - midlets are supposed to run on more than just Palm devices.
    I agree, that is why I have not stopped using the Kjava Database objects. I've written a server-side Palm Database API the will convert data from any source into Palm PDB's. These PDBs are then HotSync'ed to the Palm. A Palm app would be pretty useless if we cannot instantiate its databases with data.
    Matt, let me know if this helps.

    The software versions of the NI products (MAX/My System/Software) between my LTH and the iPC are

    1. LabView Run-Time 2009 SP1 (64-bit); is installed on LTH but missing on iPC. The iPC has a 32-bit system.
    2. LabView Run-Time 2012 f3; is installed on LTH but missing on iPC.

    1. LabVIEW Real-Time 11.0.1
    2. NI-488.2 RT 3.0.0
    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
    Unfortunately the above stated problem still arose.
    What can I do to fix this problem?
    I found a hint on http://www.labviewforum.de/Thread-XNET-CAN-die-ersten-Gehversuche.
    There it is written to deploy the dbc file againt.
    If this is a good hint, so how do I deploy a dbc file?
    I would feel very pleased if somebody could help me! :-)
    Best regards
    Lukas Nowak

    Hi Lukas,
    I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
    NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
    NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.
    You wrote:

    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
    NI CAN is the outdated driver. I think that you should try to install NI-XNET instead of NI-CAN on your PXI-System, to get rid of the error message.

  • Verify that the database is created with the correct path  specification

    Dear All
    When I installed DB2 9.1 with SP4 on windows 2003 64 bit,I use Configuration Assistant tool which is problem

    not be found.  A database has not been created or it was not
    cataloged correctly.
    The command cannot be processed.
    User Response:
    Verify that the database is created with the correct path
    specification.  The Catalog Database command has a path parameter
    which specifies the directory where the database resides.
    sqlcode :  -1031
    sqlstate :  58031
    Thanks

    Hi Phuc,
    Could you please validate, that the database TST is located in driver H: ?
    If the database is there, you find a directory with the name of your instance under the H: drive, inside this directory, you must find a NODE0000 directory and finally inside the NODE0000 directory there must be a SQL0000? directory, where ? is a number.
    You get your instance name from the environment variable DB2INSTANCE or simply by the execution of:
    db2 get instance
    If there is no SQL0000? directory at all, this means the database is located somewhere else.
    If there is SQL0000? directory in that drive, you can perform the following:
    db2 CATALOG DB TST AS TST ON H:
    And provide the error message, if any.
    Hope this helps
    Best regards, Edgardo

  • Create database view with Java Dictionary

    is there a possibility to create and deploy a database view with the

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello;
    I read your post and here's the thoughts that came to mind : ( my largest concern is you might restore something that damages your current system )
    1. So you want to restore the whole DB back to 12/06/2012 to get some tablespaces from then right?
    2. Are you restoring to a different system?
    3. How did you start the database ( NOMOUNT, MOUNT )
    4. If you are restoring the whole DB back to 12/06/2012 how did you restore the control file?
    5. Your command shows :
    restore tablespace SYSTEM,UNDO_GEN01,UNDO_GEN02,TAB_80K_GENCON,TAB_25M_GENCON;
    COMMENT : Generally I use recover tablespace for point in time recovery and use an auxilary destination.
    Meaning I don't use restore at all, in fact using restore may cause an issue.
    SUMMARY : I don't see how this will work as is.
    It seems you want data from five tablespaces from about six months ago including the SYSTEM tablespace.
    This is an Incomplete Recovery. I believe I would rethink this completely.
    Give the time that has past I would consider restoring the whole database to a different server where cannot damage anything.
    Once this is done I would decide how to get the data I need.
    Or I would check for a daily export file and recover the tablespace data that way.
    So you have some good details on your question but it seems the plan is either missing something or you need to add a few more details.
    Example
    I'm recovering old tablespaces into a test system.
    Here's how I'm not damaging my current production system.
    I don't have an export from that date.
    So take a step back and either rethink or give a few more details on how this is safe.
    Best Regards
    mseberg

  • Using database link  with a dynamic SQL in Forms 5

    I have a Form 5 application where a database link is specified in a client version of dynamic SQL. The function that the application is designed to perform is to access data in a table in a remote database and use it to populate another table in a local database with the same structure as the source table. Dynamic SQL is used because the name of the table can only be resolved during run time.
    The problem is that it gives error with code 'ORA-03113' and text 'End-of-file on communication channel' when you try to run it.
    Is it not possible to use a database link with a dynamic SQL? What can I do to overcome the problem ?

    Try to create a local view based ao the remote table and use the view.

  • How do i connect to a derby database created in Netbeans externally?

    I've created a a Java DB in Netbeans, I can connect to the Java DB server and then to my database from Netbeans. I need to use this database outside of Netbeans... a table from this database is used in a program which i created with netbeans... i open the program using the .jar file outside of netbeans... but i can't access the table.
    can anyone help me with this?

    what exactly are you wanting to do? to connect to the database i use this
    String driverName = "org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver";
                Class.forName(driverName);
                String url = "jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/table name";
                String username = "username";
                String password = "password";
                connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);you need to make sure that you have the derbyclient.jar file in the librarie for your project.

  • Database creation with ASM using dbca

    hi all,
    i found the steps to create the database using ASM diskgroup.
    but i received errors when configuring the FRA(flash recovery area), DBF(normal), +ARCH(archival dest),
    i tried atleast 2 to 3 times from scratch but found the same error....................
    ORA: 19624
    ORA: 19870
    here are the steps can somebody correct these steps..................
    Create Virtual Disks from VM Ware software when server is down.
    Choose Edit Virtual Machine Settings.
    Click on Add button
    Press Next and Highlight Hard Disk, then click Next
    Check ‘Create a New Virtual Disk’
    Choose SCSI as type
    Select Size as 2 GB
    Name the virtual disk as ‘ASMDBF1.vmdk’
    Create additional disks as:
    ASMDBF1.vmdk for DBF files
    ASMDBF2.vmdk Failover group
    ASMFRA.vmdk Flash Back Recovery Area
    ASMREDO.vmdk Redo Log Area
    ASMARCH.vmdk Archived Logs
    •     Start up the server OraWorld1
    •     Go to Disk Management and you will be prompted with a screen which should display all five disks with a check mark. Accept defaults and Click next.
    •     On second script all five will be unchecked, click Next
    •     Press Finish to complete and you should see all 5 disks as Type Basic Unallocated. For each of the disk perform:
    1.     Right click, New Partition, Extended Partition and Finish
    2.     Right click, New Logical drive, Do not assign drive letter nor partition it.
    3.     From command prompt type Diskpart and enter Automount enable.
    4.     From command prompt, configure basic CRS services as
    5.     C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1>localconfig add
    6.     C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1>localconfig add
    7.     Step 1: creating new OCR repository
    8.     Successfully accumulated necessary OCR keys.
    9.     Creating OCR keys for user 'administrator', privgrp ''..
    10.     Operation successful.
    11.     Step 2: creating new CSS service
    12.     successfully created local CSS service
    13.     successfully added CSS to home
    •     Launch DBCA and choose Configure Storage Management.
    •     Select Create New group, choose stamp disks which will show you all of your five disks. Configure ASM links to all these disks as:
    1.     ORCLDISKASMDBF1 \Device\Harddisk1\Partition1
    2.     ORCLDISKASMDBF2 \Device\Harddisk2\Partition1
    3.     ORCLDISKASMFRA \Device\Harddisk3\Partition1
    4.     ORCLDISKASMREDO \Device\Harddisk4\Partition1
    5.     ORCLDISKASMARCH \Device\Harddisk5\Partition1
    Now make Change Disk Discovery Path as Null and you should see all disks.
    Now create Disk groups as :
    ARCH \\.\ORCLDISKASMARCH External 1GB
    REDO \\.\ORCLDISKASMREDO External 1GB
    FRA \\.\ORCLDISKASMFRA External 2GB
    DBF (MAIN GROUP WITH 2 SUB-GROUPS) Must create as Normal Redundancy
    DBFP \\.\ORCLDISKASMDBF1 External 2GB
    DBFS \\.\ORCLDISKASMDBF2 External 2GB
    You now have a running ASM instance on the server.
    •     Checking ASM instance
    You can always use DBCA to check settings of ASM.
    Alternatively, go to command prompt:
    Set ORACLE_SID=+ASM
    Sqlplus /nolog
    Connect sys/password as sysdba
    Show sga (80MB)
    Total System Global Area 83886080 bytes
    Fixed Size 1247420 bytes
    Variable Size 57472836 bytes
    ASM Cache 25165824 bytes
    SQL>desc You can then check C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\database for these files. You can also view v$parameter for all possible values for ASM instance.
    +asm.asm_diskgroups='DATA1','ARCH','REDO','FRA','DBF'#Manual Mount
    *.asm_diskgroups='DATA1','ARCH','REDO','FRA','DBF'
    *.asm_diskstring=''
    *.background_dump_dest='C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin\+ASM\bdump'
    *.core_dump_dest='C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin\+ASM\cdump'
    *.instance_type='asm'
    *.large_pool_size=12M
    *.remote_login_passwordfile='SHARED'
    *.user_dump_dest='C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin\+ASM\udump'
    You can change some of the values like large pool and even db cache size. You can also manually create the disk group as:
    Create diskgroup DBF NORMAL redundancy
    Failgroup flgrp1 disk ‘\\.\ORCLDISKDATA0’, ‘\\.\ORCLDISKDATA1’
    Failgroup flgrp2 disk ‘\\.\ORCLDISKDATA2’, ‘\\.\ORCLDISKDATA3’;
    Check Candidate disks:
    select group_number, disk_number, mount_status, header_status, state, path from v$asm_disk;
    Other useful queries:
    Select group_number, name, total_mb, free_mb, state, type
    From v$asm_diskgroup;
    Select group_number, disk_number, mount_status, header_status, state, path, failgroup
    From v$asm_disk;
    You can use sql commands to perform most of the ASM tasks, however EM console can also be used here
    Oracle Database Installation
    •     Launch DBCA
    •     Choose Create Database and select OLTP type
    •     Name it as ORCL2, choose ASM as file system, select all disk groups to be used.
    •     Use oracle managed files as:+DBF press Next
    *•     Specify Flash Recovery Area as +FRA*
    *•     Enable archiving at +ARCH*
    *•     Choose Auto SGA as 55% of memory*
    *•     Leave else default and complete DB creation.*
    *•     Launch NetConfig and define Listener with default settings.* here i received the errors,.................
    Database ORCL2 is created with the following attributes:
    NAME: ORCL2
    SPFILE: +ARCH/ORCL2/spfileORCL2.ora
    URL: http://oraworld1:1158/em

    Strange, those messages are RMAN backup errors -- are you trying to backup the database?
    Or...if you selected "create starter database" it may be that dbca is not finding the backup files from the "demo" database.
    :p

    But still got message - "BUILD SUCCESSFUL" at the end. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
    My intention of performing FOD schema installation was to follow the tutorial "Database Development with JDeveloper" at http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps1/databasedevelopment/obe_%20databasedevmt.htm. But I stopped at the last topic "Creating and Debugging PL/SQL Objects in the Database" ->"Running a SQL Script to Create an Object Type" when trying to create a object using script on the page.
    This is the script:
    ------------------------------------------------start
    REM
    REM Create object ORDER_ITEMS_REC
    REM
    CREATE or REPLACE type ORDER_ITEMS_REC as object
    ORDER_ID NUMBER(15),
    LINE_ITEM_ID NUMBER(3),
    PRODUCT_ID NUMBER(15),
    QUANTITY NUMBER(6),
    UNIT_PRICE NUMBER(8,2),
    CREATED_BY VARCHAR2(60),
    CREATION_DATE DATE,
    LAST_UPDATED_BY VARCHAR2(60),
    LAST_UPDATE_DATE DATE,
    OBJECT_VERSION_ID NUMBER(15)
    show errors;
    --------------------------------------------------end
    and the error message I got was
    ------------------------------------------------start
    Error report:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    01031. 00000 - "insufficient privileges"
    ------------------------------------------------end
    I was wandering whether the error of FOD installation could cause the error of the tutorial?
    Any response will be appreciated.

    1. you dont have to insall Oracle database at the BO machine side, you just need any database to hold the BO repository.
    2. you cant connect directly using BO, only Crystal reports can connect directly to R3 database, you need to have a BW in between.
    extract your data into the BW, and let BO connect to BW using the BO integration kit for SAP solutions.
    3. no you dont have to have 3 different machines, using one BO machine you connect to them all, but you may need build a  BO environment, (Development, Production servers)
    good luck
