Hello ppl.
Im really new to this whole Flash.
I need to link flash with a database,some ppl told me that i
cant.so i want ur opinion too.
I have to make a mutlimedia project where ill be able to
renew the information from a database..dunno maybe from Acces.
Is it possible.and if yes how?Is it purely from Action script
Use?

To replicate data you can ude Database Gateway for ODBC or Database Gatewy for MS SQl Server. Please use the search engine of this forum if you ant to get more details about each product.
Some SQl Servers are set up to use Windows authentication only. In this case you won't be able to connect to the SQL Server as Windows authentication isn't supported with the gateways. You have to make sure your SQL server is supporting username and password authentication - a common user is the "sa" user. Regarding the username/password, please get in touch with your SQL Server Admin.

I have a system using Oracle data base but i have to query some data in
Access data base called TA_2008.mdb for specific table called FPTrans
My oracle database SID=Ahmed10g my schema is attend/attend.
I have tried to use the Heterogenous Services Generic Connectivity Agents .
I think i have to build the ODBC driver for Access database not for oracle and specify the Access DB name
But i built the driver for oracle.
Please clear the steps for me and correct me if i am wrong .......................

Little help with complex XML data as data provider for chart and adg

Hi all,
I've been trying to think through a problem and Im hoping for
a little help. Here's the scenario:
I have complex nested XML data that is wrapped by subsequent
groupings for efficiency, but I need to determine if each inner
item belongs in the data collection for view in a data grid and
charts.
I've posted an example at the bottom.
So the goal here is to first be able to select a single
inspector and then chart out their reports. I can get the data to
filter from the XMLListCollection using a filter on the first layer
(ie the name of the inspector) but then can't get a filter to go
deeper into the structure in order to determine if the individual
item should be contained inside the collection. In other words, I
want to filter by inspector, then time and then tag name in order
to be able to use this data as the basis for individual series
inside my advanced data grid and column chart.
I've made it work with creating a new collection and then
looping through each time there is a change to the original
collection and updating the new collection, but that just feels so
bloated and inefficient. The user is going to have some buttons to
allow them to change their view. I'm wondering if there is a
cleaner way to approach this? I even tried chaining filter
functions together, but that didn't work cause the collection is
reset whenever the .refresh() is called.
If anyone has experience in efficiently dealing with complex
XML for charting purposes and tabular display purposes, I would
greatly appreciate your assistance. I know I can get this to work
with a bunch of overhead, but I'm seeking something elegant.

im new user and trying to insert data base to my page using

Even if you don't end up using this code, you would need to change yours so that you aren't appending to your person_tab table until you have moved all of the data for the fields of your record. By appending twice like you currently are doing, you are creating two separate records (one with just the pernr and another with the first and last name). I hope this helps.

one is held in oracle 10g and the other in 11g ,Currently i am using DB link to access both the database. i am accessing around 70 tables using DB link.
As per new requirement i have to remove DB link ,is there any other way i can access both database with out DB link.

Dynamic change link to data base

I have project with 40 pages, in each page I have SQL request , like "select * from table@dbtest". I want dynamically change link to my test data base on to real data base.
What should I do for that would when I selecting another base, link to data base changed in all SQL requests?

Personally, I'd rather create a synonym yourtable=yourtable@dblink, and just use 'select * from yourtable' in Apex pages. You could also create view yourtable=select * from yourtable@dblink. I usually like to have a DB link named in a meaningful way, so that I know where it's pointing just by looking at the name.
I usually start with a local table to get Apex to read the structure, and then just replace that with a synonym or view later.

To create database, I guess, it's better if you use the tool provided by the database. Which database? It can work with any databases provided that you can find the JDBC driver for the database.

Can any one help me to configure the mysql table to enable user expiration to function, I have tryed most things, but not dates are being passed back to the data base from the form

Im trying to build user expiration into my registration form, but I cant get the form to send back the date registering.
in my data base i have tried every thing from timestamp to datetime. I can get a timestamp but it is not functioning with the expiration?

just have a look at my tutorial Login tables: installation & configuration where the required column attributes are explained and where you can obtain a fully functional SQL dump for a typical ADDT "login" and (optionally) "login_stats" table.
BTW, "expiration" will have to be an "int" column.

if u r using sql server then u can define a column as TEXT and insert the file as binayr data, along with that u can store the file name.
While retirving u can creat a fileiputstream and read the binary data and displya the image in the browser.
Another way is to use upload servlet and store the image files in the server hard drive and store the image name and path in datbase .

The path where the details are stored is
I don’t know the reason behind this update in the registry, how can I remove the entry from the registry using java code.
Requirement:
The password should not be updated in the registry , how can I avoid this?

Thank you for your message.
Our application's feature set is defined by what we store in a table in the DB. Eg: 1 means premium version, 2 means basic version etc. The app is written and tested, and prior to shipment we only change this value.
It would take us too long to change the basic logic. One alternate we thought is to encrypt this number by multiplying it with a large prime.
Is there some other way in which we can protect the user name / password ?
