A Need for java resources...!

Hi, I'm still new to java and I'd like to ask if there is any book or site that would explain all java classes and methods with examples. any suggestions?

If you want to buy a book - then go for CORE JAVA Vol 1 & 2. It is the best book and it will make a professional out of you. If you're looking for free resources then you should go for the sun java tutorial at java.sun.com. Both are equally good.

  • What is needed for JAVA custom development only?

We have a pilot Netweaver 04 server setup with JDI configured under scenario 2+.  We will only use the landscape for custom non-R/3 related JAVA apps.  Will I need a DEV WAS JAVA JDI instance, QA WAS JAVA JDI instance, and PRD WAS JAVA JDI Instance?  If not the would I just need a DEV JDI instance, then a vanilla QA WAS JAVA instance and PRD WAS JAVA instance.  I am trying to understand how system landscape compare to a traditional R/3.

    Hi Steve,
if you are using NWDI, please refer to the enviroment recommendations there. Actually, compared to R/3 your DEV environment is what you run either locally or in a group organization. Your DEV environment is the server you use as a central testing instance and that should obviously be another server then your productive servers.
Basically this means that NWDI usually does a transport to the dev system and if you want to deploy to productive, you just would initiate such from NWDI.

    Benny

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
You don't need an antivirus software for your phone. This has been answered from the Microsoft's forum. Check the link below for the details:

  • Version information for java  resource adaptor

    Hi,
Iam developing a resource adaptor(RAR). I have deployed my RAR on app server. My problem is that i want to provide version information of my RAR. One way is that i do the same in log files which iam doing presently. Problem is that logging is disabled in most production environment due to performance reasons.
Otherway is, instead of usual .log file, i write the version information in some .config file which I can create when my adaptor is loaded. Problem with this approach is that i can have mutiple RAR deployed on same app server connected to different instances of EIS. If app server has only single class loader, then this will be a problem as the RAR which is loaded later will override the previous info as only one copy of the file is created.
Can anyone suggest me a possible way.
    Ashish

There is noy way for you to write a simple message to the app server log file when the RAR is inited stating the version of the RAR? You also mentioned dumping the RAR version to a file. Why can't you simply write the RAR version to a unique file name by adding a date stamp or some other unique identifier so you don't overwrite the previous file? Maybe I'm missing something.

Yeah, I have a rough idea of what the calculator
should do, like most people would. Its just that I
dont know how to implement this in Java. Thats the
problem. Can anyone provide me with code snippets
that I can try?No I would rather see you make an effort from what has been discussed here. This is not a Java problem this is a general programming problem.

  • Help needed for java command

    Hi, everyone.
    I am new in java.
I try to unstand one command in unix cron job as following:
    java -Xmx256m -classpath .:./jse.jar:./commons-codec.jar com.etsi.jse.run.usa.apartments.SearchingWithCity $*
i can't figure out what "$*" stands for.
If any suggestions, thanks a lot

    > i can't figure out what "$*" stands for.
It's a command line argument that gets used to initialize the String[] array passed to the main method. My guess is that it's a regular expression-ish search string with a "wildcard" used by the program to find apartments within particular city, judging by the name of the package and class.

  • Help needed for java network programming

How can I implement a GUI as a client in my server-client program.
I have a window(JFrame)having one Textfield and a "Send" button.
My requirement: While execution, the GUI should start as a client, and whatever textinput I will give to the Textfield, that should be printed in the server program.
So, how can I implement a GUI window as a client.
If any of U have idea,Please let me know soon.
    Regards.

Well, the client part and the GUI part are separate. The button simply calls a send method.
As for the networking, you can just use a Socket and a ServerSocket on the client and server, respectively. Then, wrap a PrintStream around one side and a BufferedReader(InputStreamReader()) around the other. You'll be able to talk back and forth once your connection is established; it's up to you to read from the BufferedReader and use the results on the server side.

  • Accessing events for a Resource through Java API

I need to display the calendar events for a Resource through a portlet preferably using Java WebServices API. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to authenticate as a Resource, similar to user authentication so that I can display events associated with that resource.
    Thanks,
    Niraj Dhondi

login as sysop (connectAsSysop) and switch identity to the desired resource (setIdentity) .
you may need to add the line
    allowsysoplogon_capi = TRUE
to the [ENG] section in unison.ini .

  • Need old 'missing plug in' for Java 6

    Hi all,
I have recently downloaded the new Java 7 download however this is not compatible with alot of programmes that I need to use on my computer.
I have completly restored all of my computer and am now back to square one so have the Java 6 download. I am told that I am missing the plug in though and the only option I have is to download the Java 7 plug in or whatever the option is.
Can anyone advise me as to how to go about getting back the old plug in for Java 6.
    Thanks

Check out Java for Mac FAQs. IIRC, they give the directions to revert.
Turns out those instructions are wrong and apparently out of date.
First they include the "% " prompt before the commands which tends to confuse Mac users, especially the majority who are using bash with a "$ " prompt and not tcsh. Users should ignore the percent sign-space before sudo.
Next they forgot to escape the space between "Internet" and "Plug-Ins" so the command fails to find the target directory.
Then they provide a simlink to the wrong plug-in.
At least one user has successfully switched from the Java 7 plugin to the Java 6 plugin using the followng two lines:
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
    sudo ln -s /System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle/Contents/Resources/JavaPlugin2_NPAPI .plugin /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
I suspect the simlink (last term in the second command) could be named "JavaPlugin2_NPAPI.plugin" and work just as well, but I have not way to test that.

  • Books & Tools: Help needed for Begining Java....

    Hi,
I am a Computer science Graduate & working. I am new to Java but not Programming. I have some knowledge on OOPS concepts, .Net, Java, C# & web development.
I need Help To pick the Best Book/Books that can make me comfortable in programming Java & Understanding whole Java concept.
I followed many books but found they are not following the Right approach.
I would appreciate if someone can suggest me a Complete Book/Books, which you think have helped.
    Thanks.

    This is the starter set:
    Sun's basic Java tutorial
Sun's New To Java Center. Includes an overview of what Java is, instructions for setting up Java, an intro to programming (that includes links to the above tutorial or to parts of it), quizzes, a list of resources, and info on certification and courses.
http://javaalmanac.com . A couple dozen code examples that supplement The Java Developers Almanac.
jGuru. A general Java resource site. Includes FAQs, forums, courses, more.
JavaRanch. To quote the tagline on their homepage: "a friendly place for Java greenhorns." FAQs, forums (moderated, I believe), sample code, all kinds of goodies for newbies. From what I've heard, they live up to the "friendly" claim.
Bruce Eckel's Thinking in Java (Available online.)
    Joshua Bloch's Effective Java
Bert Bates and Kathy Sierra's Head First Java.
James Gosling's The Java Programming Language. Gosling is
the creator of Java. It doesn't get much more authoritative than this.
