A request regarding the Adobe Forums

I was just wondering if anybody else finds that these forums
make it hard to find previous posts that cover the same topic you
are asking and that this generates a lot of duplication (and ok the
search facility helps a little)? I was wondering if it would be
possible to break the forum down into sub-categories such as
databases, webservices etc. based on metadata? If you look at a
site like ASP.NET the forums there are really good to find things
by category (in fact IMO a site such as ASP.NET is exactly what
Flex/AIR needs - I find flex.org a bit lacking). Am I alone in
thinking this or do others agree?
Edit: OK I feel a bit of an idiot now having just seen the
'Adobe user forums update in progress' note that the forums are to
be updated... I eagerly await this :-)

How to stop receiving e-mails from the Adobe Forums?

After the recent upgrade to the Adobe Forums you may notice that you are receiving additional e-mail messages from the Adobe Forums.
To turn off e-mail notifications please complete the following steps:
Go to https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
Click on your Avatar and choose the Preference option
Alternately you can click on https://forums.adobe.com/user-preferences!input.jspa to access your Preferences.
Under the General Preferences you can adjust your e-mail preferences. You can choose which type of notifications you wish to receive e-mail notifications for. I would recommend disabling the e-mail regarding Moderation Notifications
Once your selection has been made then click the Save button to apply the settings change.

What does “I cannot export or copy and paste or drag the mail over” mean?
Mail stores most preferences and all account settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (except the passwords, which are stored in the keychain). Everything else, including all your messages and mailboxes, is stored within the ~/Library/Mail/ folder.
Similarly, Address Book stores the settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist and the data in ~/Library/Application Support/AddresBook/.
Other applications store preferences and data in other places. You may want to ask in the appropriate forums for more information on those.
If both computers are running the same major version of Mac OS X, copying these files & folders from one computer to the other is all you need to do in order to have an exact copy of all your data on both computers.
In order to avoid potential permission issues, copy the files operating on the destination computer and while logged in as the user that’s going to use them. Also, be sure the affected applications aren’t running on either computer while doing that.
Alternatively, you may use Migration Assistant, as Michael suggested:

Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

ATTN: Adobe-Admin Troubles with the Adobe Forums

Received an email from an Adobe Partner. See message below:
I am not sure who to contact to get help with this issue, but we are unable to reply to or post new content to the Adobe Forums. (http://forums.adobe.com).
We can enter the text for the topic, but the field to enter the body of the content is read only. We can't click in it or type in it. This is when creating a new discussion, or responding to an existing thread. When creating a private message, We can type in the title and content, but when we submit, it deletes all the content and says that the body can't be empty.
In each of these cases, we have tried it on multiple machines, with multiple accounts. Both Windows/Mac, XP/Windows 7, Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome. Same results in every case. We have also ensured that browser add-ons like AdBlock are not installed.
We would appreciate some direction on how to resolve this issue.

That is an account / computer based problem, not a problem all users of the forums are experiencing. Those different computers / accounts wouldn't all be in the same domain behind the same proxy server or with the same virus scanner installed, would they?

Is the Adobe forum merging with Behance?

I have been using the forum for a while and it was very intuitive and well laid out... Why did you change it so much and add so many features to make it more like a social community? I thought behance was the social community?
I don't like the forum update... its hard to find the content I wrote a while back and it is not nearly as intuitive as it once was...
But if you are going to merge behance and the forum together then just do it please.... I don't want to upload all my content twice... Stop doubling our data...

Hello - I can't speak to the forum redesign, but Behance is the leading platform to showcase and discover creative work. This is not getting merged in any way with the Adobe Forums.

Improvement request for the developer forums(s)

Is there any way to tweak the developer forum a little so user's can see the proper way to format code when making a post? There is no mention in the help. The Compose tab only has bold, italic, underline, and spellcheck. Somewhere on the *Post Message: New Topic* screen there needs to be something telling the user to use {code} around their code to format it properly.
I have been trying to inform newer users over there but it gets tiring after a while.

Seriously this is a mess with all of the new iPhone developers coming onto the forms and putting code in their posts and then the responses from the usual suspects that they should use the tags, followed by questions of how do I use the tags,...

I noticed that your directions include a couple of extra steps than the most elaborate logout-relogin procedure I use. As I am willing to try anything to avoid being logged out so frequently, I decided to give your directions a try.
Well, everything worked as expected until step 10. When I went to the forums after restarting my browser, I found that I had been logged out, so I could not proceed any further. This is one of the things I have been complaining about: I am logged out everytime I restart my browser, regardless of browser and platform. The other is that when I log in on my Mac, where going out of the forums does not close my browser, I am being logged out long before the 24 hours we are told the cookies last for; and this has been getting worse in the last few weeks.
I suspect that my particular problem may be due to the fact that I never accepted changing my Adobe ID to my email address, because now I cannot make this change even when following all the instructions for doing so. Unfortunately, JC cannot do anything about this, and contacts with persons who perhaps could have been unfruitful so far.
Written in case I am not alone, and another user affected by this problem reads this thread.
Changing the subject completely: All the messages I have posted in the last month have been sent using the same setup, from my Mac. However, the extra linefeed problem has been attacking randomly. Some times it affects only the first line I type, some times it affects many lines, and sometimes it does not appear at all, as in this message.

How to update my status here on the Adobe Forums?

I am here on this forum and on the left it says, "You haven't updated your status". OK I click on the link and off it sends me to where I should go to do this but I can not see anywhere as to how or where to do this. I do a Ctrl-F for a "Find" and type in the word ''status' should my eyes be failing me as to where this can be done, but nothing shows up. So I'm lost here.

Hi Thanks to all of you. I agree this isn't FB. so I was wondering what they meant by Status. I was hoping that once there I would know whether I'd want to or not, But if it is a thing similar to FB or if it has been disabled then problem solved :-)

Questions regarding the new forum

Hey there posters,
With the new separation from the residential and wireless forums there are a couple of questions that I have:
Will there be a separate, "new" set of Community Leaders? Or is the CL tag shared among both boards?
Will we be seeing new moderators?
How will this effect our communication with Admins/Mods?
Will we get snazzy blogs from people like BeckyC and the other mods that run the community beat?

There is that CL Forum that I told you about. Remember? They have their own little forum for themselves. Like mods and admin post in there too. Us people can't see...only CL's.
There most likely will be or mods that were part time will become probably full time. Lithium has to hires the moderators though. Admin not sure there. I know that guy Doug is a newer admin.
Doubt it.
My question though here it goes...let me see if I can be loud and clear....

Cant stop emails coming from the adobe forums

why will the thread reply notification emails not stop comming through....... i have pressed the stop email notifacation button many times
but still they come..... does it take a day or so before the stop buttom takes efect

There are several ways and places, where e-mail notification can be set. This ARTICLE might be helpful.

Regarding downloading adobe cs4 and upgrade to cs6

I have a question>
Our cs4 design standard dvd which we purchased and burned out to a dvd is no longer as it should be.
But we like to install it again and update it to cs6.
How to do it without finding the cs4 dvd or anything online but avoid this issue?
Can we just download cs6 and do upgrade?

I have the 24 digitsd software keys, the invoice etc.If I just need to download the software. Where?

Probably best to ask in the CS forum. If you still have the software keys for CS4, then upgrading to CS6 should work, but you need to check the upgrade policy on the Adobe Store to be sure. Generally you only need the software key to do the upgrade. If you do not have the key, then you may be up a creek unless you registered (as you should). If you registered, Adobe can likely help on getting you the keys needed for the upgrade. I suggest you confirm this in the CS forum.

Why is there a big difference in price for the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and other software???

I am looking at selling the ADOBE PRO 9 range of software but i am confused as to why one is selling at £20 and another at £200. The packaging is exactly the same and they look the same, so can anyone tell me why this is?? I had a customer asking me was it a student version or a full retail version and did it have a licence?? Do you get a licence with the cheaper version?? I will be very grateful if you could explain why the prices are so different.

One, you are in the COMPLETELY wrong forum for Acrobat... click the Adobe Forums link above-left and choose Acrobat from the list
Two, if you are selling software, you need to ask Adobe the price you should charge... and be careful you do not buy your stock from China, since it is most likely a pirate version

LR4 Feature Request regarding Mouseover on Keyword tag

Suggestion: Mouseover on the Keyword tag should identify the keywords - Rather than saying "This photo has keywords", why not display the keywords, something like: Keywords: Family, Memorial Day, 2010

Like it. (The Photoshop Elements Organizer does that.)
