ABAP debugging, catch exception

Hello, experts!
Is there any way for catching exception from "insert <tabname> from table itab" during debugging, if there's no any exception handling in code? I want to know what is the error text to analyze it in more detail. I can't modify a program, because it has been generated automatically (it is a data loading program for BW extractor), so I need any case to insert error handling or get the error message while debug before program exit.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew.

hi andrew,
There is a catchable exception which you can try
TRY.
     insert <tabname> from table itab
    CATCH CX_SY_ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY.
ENDTRY.
There are also non-catchable exceptions which you can refer at
ABAP Keyword Documentation

  • ABAP Debug Mode in SAP and webMethods

    HI,
    Can anyone help resolve why I am receiving this message when I set the ABAP debug mode to yes on the SAP server? com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (105) ERROR_NO_DIALOG_USER: ERROR_NO_DIALOG

    HI,
    Very possibly the webMethods generic "SAP User" is set up as a "CPI-C" user in SAP. This means that this user can never log directly onto the SAP system, or participate in a 'dialog process' (actual GUI interraction). This is a common approach to ensure that no one can actually log onto the SAP system using this user id (other licensing issues may apply).
    Reward Points if found helpfull..
    Cheers,
    Chandra Sekhar.

  • Callback invoked only if abap-debug set to true

    I use NCo ver 2.0.1 and VS.NET 2003
    I instantiate a sapproxy object of type client and one of type server.
    After that i've set the .callback property of the <b>sapproxy-client</b> to the <b>sapproxy-server</b> instance.
    If I call sample functions Stfc_Connection and Stfc_Connection_Back I report no problems.
    I have to use another function (<b>CDesk_Show</b>) calling more then one callback function on the sapproxy-server instance.
    I put breakpoints on these function.
    If I invoke the main function (the one internally calling callback functions i.e Cdesk_show) without ABAP-DEBUG option set to true, I get an exception and execution don't  stop on callback-function-breakpoints.
    If I set ABAP-DEBUG to true, execution stops at these breakpoints(i.e in Visual studio) and everything works fine and no exception is thrown.

    Hi,
    Obviously, your function module or the callback function needs to somehow access SAPGUI. In this case, the option use_sapgui=1 should be used. The option abap_debug also enables SAPGUI access in addition to turning on the ABAP debugger.

  • DEBUG SMTP: exception reading response

    Hello,
    I am coding a background process to send e-mails. It uses Threads so each Thread opens a connection with a local smtp server and send a configured amount of e-mails.
    It goes well when there aren't too many Threads, but in opposite to that i receive the following message :
    DEBUG SMTP: useEhlo true, useAuth false
    DEBUG SMTP: starting protocol to host "localhost", port 25
    DEBUG SMTP: exception reading response: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
    MessagingException - Exception reading response; nested exception is: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
    Considering that it is happening initially because the smtp server got overload because the amount of connections i did the following:
    Transport t = mailSession.getTransport("smtp");
    while(t.isConnected() != true) {
         try {
              t.connect();
         } catch (MessagingException me){
              try {
                   Thread.sleep(rand.nextInt(n));
              } catch (InterruptedException ie){
                   Log.info("Thread Name/ID: " + jobObj.getName() + " / " + jobObj.getId() + " - " + "Exception : InterruptedException - " + ie.getMessage());
              Log.info("Connect: Thread Name/ID: " + jobObj.getName() + " / " + jobObj.getId() + " - " + "Exception : MessagingException - " + me.getMessage());
    Then i do send the respective e-mails for each Thread using :
    t.sendMessage();
    and i do close the connection after all the e-mails were sent with
    t.close();
    This is just a small snippet of the code, but represents the loop i am trying to create to solve my problem, which is smtp connections overload. So when the connection is not really established i put the Thread to sleep and then it tries again latter until the success of the connection. It seems to work for some Threads but others keep returning the same error and don't work well.
    Can anyone help me on this ?
    Thx in advance

    Hi,
    I face similar problem with same error message. Have you found the solution yet? Could you share with me?

  • How to not stop in catched exception in jdb

    Hi,
    I am not sure if this is a silly question :-)
    When I use jdb to debug a kvm.
    It always stop in catched exceptions which I don't care.
    How to not stop in catched exception?
    Thanks for suggestions
    gan

    for example
    my jdb stop and show:
    vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
    Exception occurred: java.lang.NumberFormatException
    (to be caught at: com.sun.midp.main.Configuration.getIntProperty(), line=144, bci=28)
    thread="Thread1", java.lang.Integer.parseInt(), line=273, bci=11
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    I input
    ignore java.lang.NumberFormatException
    in jdb and run again, but jdb still stop
    What is the right usage of ignore in jdb?
    Thanks for any suggetion or comment.

  • Explicitly catching Exception

    Hi,
    In my new job there is loads of existing code that explicitly catches exception, ie:
    try{
    //whatever
    } catch ( Exception e) {
    //whatever
    I think this is incredidbly bad practice, because (amongst other reasons) it means you are catching exceptions that you might not expect in your code. It also makes debugging some apps a nightmare because things like NullPointerExceptions and IndexOutOfBoundsExceptions get caught rather than causing the program to crash ( which is what it should do because you have an error in your logic ).
    I think you should just be catching Exceptions that you know your code might throw.... ie in exceptional cirumstances where a service cannot provide the expected postconditions, even if all the preconditions have been satisfied.
    Has anyone got any opinions on this?
    thanks.

    I tend to agree with gtg833b,
    It's a good idea to be aware of the exceptional circumstances that may occur and force a check for them. For example if I have a login method I might want to throw a UserNotFoundException and force the caller to catch it, but sticking code inside a try catch block in arbitrary fashion and not doing anything with the exception not even printing the stack trace is shody. I have found such code blocks left over after a panic debugging session.

  • How to catch exception into a String variable ?

    I have a code
    catch(Exception e)
                e.printStackTrace();
                logger.error("\n Exception in method Process"+e.getMessage());
            }when i open log i find
    Exception in method Process null.
    But i get a long error message in the server console !! I think thats coming from e.printStackTrace().
    can i get the error message from e.printStackTrace() into a String variable ?
    I want the first line of that big stacktrace in a String variable.
    How ?

    A trick is to issue e.printStackTrace() against a memory-based output object.
    void      printStackTrace(PrintStream s)
             // Prints this throwable and its backtrace to the specified print stream.
    void      printStackTrace(PrintWriter s)
    //          Prints this throwable and its backtrace to the specified print writer.Edited by: BIJ001 on Oct 5, 2007 8:54 AM

  • How to catch exception while validating the username and password in hbm

    Hi,
    I do want to set the username and password dynamically in hibernate.cfg.xml
    Here below is my configuration file.
    {code<hibernate-configuration>
    <session-factory>
           <property name="hibernate.bytecode.use_reflection_optimizer">false</property>
           <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class">oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</property>
           <property name="hibernate.connection.pool_size">10</property>
           <property name="show_sql">true</property>
           <property name="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.OracleDialect</property>
           <property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">update</property>
           <property name="current_session_context_class">thread</property>
           <property name="show_sql">true</property>
         </session-factory>
    </hibernate-configuration>{code}
    Also im getting that session factory object like the below code.
    public class Sessions {        private static SessionFactory sessionFactory;      private static Configuration configuration = new Configuration();        static {          try {              String userName = GuigenserviceImpl.userName;              String password = GuigenserviceImpl.password;              String hostName = GuigenserviceImpl.hostName;              String portNo = GuigenserviceImpl.portNo;              String sId = GuigenserviceImpl.sId;                  configuration                      .setProperty("hibernate.connection.username", userName);              configuration                      .setProperty("hibernate.connection.password", password);              configuration.setProperty("hibernate.connection.url",                      "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + hostName + ":" + portNo + ":" + sId);                try {              configuration.configure("/hibernate.cfg.xml");              sessionFactory = configuration.buildSessionFactory();              GuigenserviceImpl.strAccpted = "true";              }              catch (Exception e) {                    e.printStackTrace();                  GuigenserviceImpl.strAccpted = "false";              }            }          catch (HibernateException hibernateException) {              GuigenserviceImpl.strAccpted = "false";              hibernateException.printStackTrace();          }          catch (Throwable ex) {                GuigenserviceImpl.strAccpted = "false";              ex.printStackTrace();              throw new ExceptionInInitializerError(ex);          }      }          public static SessionFactory getSessionFactory() {          return sessionFactory;      }
    So, in this above scenario, suppose if im giving the wrong password means exception should be caught and the string variable "GuigenserviceImpl.strAccpted" should be assigned to false.
    But im getting the SQL Exception only in console like wrong username and password. And finally i couldn't able to catch the exception in Sessions class, static block.
    Anyone can help me in catching that SQL Exception in my Sessions class and i need to handle that SQL Exception in my class.
    Im getting this following exception message in my console.

    Hi,
    Myself hardcoded that username and password checking like the below code.
    String name = loginData.get("userName").toString();
              String pswd = loginData.get("pswd").toString();
              String hstName = loginData.get("hName").toString();
              String prtNo = loginData.get("portNo").toString();
              String sid = loginData.get("sId").toString();
              SessionFactory sessionFactory = null;
              try {
                   if (name.trim().equals(userName) && pswd.trim().equals(password)
                             && hstName.trim().equals(hostName)
                             && prtNo.trim().equals(portNo) && sid.trim().equals(sId)) {
                        sessionFactory = Sessions.getSessionFactory();
                        strAccpted = "true";
                   } else {
                        strAccpted = "false";
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
                   strAccpted = "false";
              }I have my own values in string objects, then comparing that values with the values from login form. If both values are matching, then i will do configurations in hibernate.
    ResourceBundle resourceBundle = ResourceBundle
                   .getBundle("com.beyon.ezygui.server.Queries");
         public static final String connection_url = resourceBundle
                   .getString("connection.url");
         public static final String userName = resourceBundle.getString("userName");
         public static final String password = resourceBundle.getString("password");
         public static final String hostName = resourceBundle.getString("hostName");
         public static final String portNo = resourceBundle.getString("portNo");
         public static final String sId = resourceBundle.getString("sId");The above are the String objects i'm checking for the match with values from login form.

  • How to catch exception of JMS when call onMessage()?

    I write a consumer client implement onMessage(),

    if(message instanceof TextMessage) {
    // Write the text out as read String text = ((TextMessage)message).getText();
    // Do CHECK Process adpt.demoOut("Receive CHECK Text is :" + text);

    } catch(Exception ignore) {
    } adpt.warn("\tError: " + e.getMessage());

    If the JMS Server shutdown, how can I catch the exception?

    You might want to try with exception listener that JMS specification provides.
