ABAP 'EXISTS' with variables
Hi ABAP, I need help on the following simple scenario:
I want to count all the records in my TARGETTABLE that TARGETCOLUMN entries exist in SOURCECOLUMN in my SOURCE TABLE
all of them have been defined as variables
SELECT COUNT( * )
FROM (TARGETTABLE) INTO F1
WHERE (TARGETCOLUMNCONDITION)
*Its working up to this point, but the following where clause does not work
AND EXISTS ( SELECT *
FROM (TARGETTABLE)
WHERE (TARGETCOLUMN) = (SOURCETABLE)~(SOURCECOLUMN) ).
Error message: "Incorrect expression "=" in logical condition
Got the subquery from: https://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/dc/dc7614099b11d295320000e8353423/content.htm
Thanks in advance!
At runttime, what is the value of:
targettable
targetcolumncondition
sourcetable
sourcecolumn
Have you used exactly:
DATA: where_clause type string.
where_clause = TARGETCOLUMN && | = | && SOURCETABLE && |~| && SOURCECOLUMN.
SELECT COUNT( * )
FROM (TARGETTABLE) INTO F1
WHERE (TARGETCOLUMNCONDITION)
AND EXISTS ( SELECT *
FROM (TARGETTABLE) "<---- and shouldn't this be SOURCE TABLE?
WHERE (whereclause).
It would help if you would supply the runtime version of your query.

Does a variable exist with browser locale of InfoView user?
Hi experts
Does a variable exist with the users locale ?
Thanks
PThere's more than one...
=GetContentLocale()
=GetLocale()
=GetPreferredViewingLocale()
Basically tell you
the locale of the document,
the locale of the user,
and what the user specified which locale to use if these two have a conflict.
Good luck,

Error: Object variable or with variable not set while accessing BPC Excel
Hi,
I am working on BPC NW 7.5. When I am trying to access BPC for Excel I am getting the below error.
'object variable or with variable not set'
When I click on BPC for Excel it ask for the credentials, after entering it we encounter this error.
Any idea why is this happening?
Regards,
Priyanka SinghHi Renne,
Could you share me the solution to resolve the issue?
I am getting an error "object variable or with block variable not set" while trying to submit data through an Input schedule.
I am working on SAP BPC 7.0 NW and using MS Excel 2003.
I can log in to BPC Admin and excel with my user id and password.
Only when i am trying to click esubmit --> send and refresh schedules i am getting this error.
I checked my security profile and i have the submit data task in my task profile.
Following couple existing SDN postings i tried to check the ADD-INs of the excel on my system. However it looks like the steps listed in the existing SDN posts are for MS EXCEL 2007.
Please suggest me how do i resolve this issue. Please note I am working on SAP BPC 7.0 NW and using MS Excel 2003.

Internal error in IP - cannot see filters with variables
Hello Gurus,
Please help me with this issue.
I'm having a problem with data in a productive environment. When I try to access any filter with a variable, in Modeler, I receive the following error message:
Internal error: Failed to read variables for characteristic XXX
The list of infoobjects in the filter where exists a variable is showed "Object not found" instead of the name of the variable.
When I open the same filter using Bex Query designer I can see all information, including variables.
It seemed that this problem doesn't affect function planning, only filters.
What can be the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,Sue,
create just the same variable as a new one; and delete the old one via transaction RSZDELETE; but you have to deselect the old variable from your selection before deleting the old one.

Using alerts with variables-"dynamic text" not working
Hello all,
I'm triggering an alert from a BPM, and have set the flag "dynamic text" on for the alert category associated with it. I'm doing it in a similar way to the blog 1382 by Michal:
[/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/13/alerts-with-variables-from-the-messages-payload-xi--updated|/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/13/alerts-with-variables-from-the-messages-payload-xi--updated]
The only difference is that I'm just assigning a fixed text instead of a payload element to the container element, which I've defined as simple type - string.
However, the text of the alert doesn't show anything. I'm getting an email with just "Process <id>" as the subject and "Alert ID: <number>" in the body of the email (the same in the Alert Inbox).
I'm starting to think that there could be something wrong in PI 7.1 which I'm using, as I've configured other alerts in scenarios without BPM without problem.
Thanks for your suggestions!I've solved it using an alert from the Enterprise Services Builder (Integration Repository). It's a new feature in PI 7.1. It seems the tab "Container" in the alert category didn't exist before (that's why you don't find it in the weblogs of Michal and others) and now you have to use it.

Cell Offload will Happen for pl/sql Block with variables
Hello Experts,
i am working on procedures on exadata now. i was confused with cell offload in exadata. somehow offload is not happening when i ran the sql statement in in pl/sql block with variables.
here are my findings.
when i ran insert into from select with values at toad, my query response time is very good. the total process is completed in less than a minute.
i checked offload is happening.
same sql statement is placed in plsql block with variable, procedure is taking lot of time and it is not completing. this case offload is not happening.
is it true, if i use variables in pl/sql block will not use cell offload and smart scan?
if yes, what is the work around.
Thanks
#! PavanHello Marc,
Thanks for quick response.
when i ran the query with literals in toad session i am getting response.
when i run it with pl/sql block , block is not completing at all.
here is the plsql block:
My Apologies for sending big code,with out proper format.

Filters with variables user-exits on queries
Is it possible to define complex selection criteria by using the EXIT_SAPLRRSO_001?. Something similar to what we may do a select for Sap:
Select * from table where ((field1 = value1 and field2 = value2) or (field1 = value3 and field2 = Value4)).
I guess not, it seems that only allows a range for output as a single variable ...
If this is not possible, is there any way to filter the data before the show?. I do not care who is among the infoprovider and Bex, who between Bex and Excel ...
Filters with variables user-exits on queriesThe variable can take any combination that can be specified in a select-option. The criteria used to select these values to be populated for the variable can be as complex as any ABAP program. So all combinations in a select statement are allowed.

Calling ABAP Class with Javascript (Example?)
Can anyone provide an example of calling an ABAP class with Javascript? I'm looking to retrieve a variable value from a Web Application
ThanksI need this too.
I have a Selection Screen in JAVA. And I want to fill the f4-help with a abap-function.

Cannot insert field or paste in existing Local Variable (container of booleans)
Cannot insert field or paste in existing Local Variable (container of booleans)... TestStand 4.1.
This is very strange, especially since I have done it before.
The "paste" and "insert field" selections are greyed out and disabled from the right-click menu. I have tried everything I could imagine, and searched various combinations of posts. I am sure it is something redicoulously simple, bu I cannot find the redicule to solve this annoying issue.
The local variable is a container of booleans. It has 90 elements and I need to add one more. I cannot edit / rename or do anything with this Local. Must be karma (for thos who know me in the LabVIEW forum). Usually, you right click, insert field and it's there.. Not this one..
Has anyone seen this before? Closing and re-opening TestStand did not change anything. There is a matching cluster in LabVIEW which feeds the local in TestStand.
It is a container of custm data type. The Edit Flags are ok (edit is allowed). Can't think of any other valuable info..
Solved!
Go to Solution.I should correct an erratum in my original post..
Since I am not the original author of the code, I am not sure it is a custom container. As a matter of fact, I don't think it is.
It does not appear in the custom data types. So it must be a Local.
I will attempt to clarify what I am dealing with... (TestStand 4.1)
Maybe pictures are worth thousands of words.
As with typical TestStand projects, there are various variables: Locals, Parameters, FileGlobals, etc.. Nothing odd here.
The one I am concerned about is the Options_Present which is a container of booleans.
I am sure I have edited this one before. Although I seem to recall that it was automatic after changing the cluster in LabVIEW.
Within the Locals, the 2 that are underligned in red do not allow to edit anything (change name, add, delete, paste).
Trying to Insert Field or paste are not possible.

ABAP Program global variable print at runtime
Hi,
I have an abap program with more than 1000 global variables. I want to run the program and at a specific point show a report with names and runtime values of all the global variables in the program. Is there some system table which stores all the global variable names and source code? Kindly help.
SatyaHello Satya,
You can store all your global variables in one internal table.
let's say your Itab contains 1000 fields. Now, if you want to retrive the name of the itab, you can use the system call.
DATA: IT_COMP LIKE RSTRUCINFO OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
*-- Getting fields of internal table
CALL 'AB_STRUC_INFO'
ID 'PROGRAM' FIELD SY-CPROG
ID 'STRUCNAME' FIELD P_ITAB
ID 'STRUCINFO' FIELD IT_COMP-SYS.
After getting all your fields in it_comp table you can use field symbol to get the values of your fields.
Regards,
Reward points, if it is useful...! -
Matching ABAP Roles with UME Groups
Hello,
we are facing the following issue:
We are providing Business Warehouse access via NW Portal beside the "normal" abap system. Therefore we need to put every new user into a special UME-group. How can we match ABAP-Roles with UME-Groups?
We just want to assign a single (portal-)role to an user in the abap-stack, not another group in the UME. Is this possible?Sascha Landowski wrote:
We did it a little bit different, but that's it. We had an existing portal group with the needed portal roles. We created a new group in reference to a existing abap role and gave it the portal roles.
In fact thats I have suggest Sascha However, its a very common construct in EP, glad it worked for you

Contact sheet with variable rows/columns
I'm interested in an InDesign Contact Sheet script/plug-in that is capable of creating a contact sheet with variable rows and columns, allowing amages to be placed at 100%. For example, say I have 20 images all of various dimensions. I'd like to place each one on an ID page at 100% while fitting as many on a single page as possible. So if one of the images was 8in x 10in then it would be the only image on the page, assuming a page size of 8.5 x 11. If smaller images were included in the same batch though, they would be placed as many across and as many down as could fit. Any images larger than the select page size would scale to fit on the page.
All of the existing solutions I've found so far force you to choose the number of rows and columns and then images are scaled to meet those requirements.
Does anyone know if such a solution is out there?A stand-alone app that can do the same thing, essentially create scatter proofs, may work as well. If anyone knows of such a thing I'd be interested to hear.

Error in Looping with variable
Dear All,
Please help me. i want to loop of record. i have two scheme. First, i make without variable and not error. Second, i make with variable and error occurs. as below my syntax:
First:
declare
x varchar(50);
begin
--x:='select dummy from dual';
for c1 in (select dummy from dual) loop
dbms_output.put_line(c1.dummy);
end loop;
end;
result:

Second:
declare
x varchar(50);
begin
x:='select dummy from dual';
for c1 in (x) loop
dbms_output.put_line(c1.dummy);
end loop;
end;
result:
Encountered the symbol 'LOOP' when expecting one...Billy Verreynne wrote:
Why? For what purpose?
A cursor fetch loop is not the ideal processing structure.
It is slow. It requires data to travel from the buffer cache of the database into PL/SQL variables (in the PGA). It requires context switching between the PL/SQL and SQL engines.
It does not scale. More rows means more data to travel that path from the SQL engine to the PL/SQL engine. More loop iterations in PL/SQL. If a single loop iteration (for processing a row) is 1ms, then a 100,000 rows will take a 100 seconds. 200,000 rows 200 seconds. Etc. This clearly does not scale with an increase in data volume.
Also keep in mind that DBMS_OUTPUT does not write to screen or display anything. It is incapable of accessing a client device as it executes inside a server process. So each call to DBMS_OUTPUT stores that line of text in very expensive server memory. When the database call is done, the client (e.g. TOAD or SQL*Plus) can read those lines from the database and the client can display it.
So if your loop is for a 1000 rows, it means writing a 1000 lines of text into very expensive server memory - and then expecting the client to read that afterwards and display it. Why? This is not a standard client-server method. It also does not scale. It can actually crash the server when this method is abused.
The standard method would be to create a SQL cursor using PL/SQL code, and then return a reference handle (pointer) to the client. This allows the client the ability to fetch data directly from the cursor - in an optimal way that does not consume expensive server memory.I have to say it: I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to write this whenever it needs to be written rather than just giving up and letting people stumble along with bad design - it must take a lot of mental stamina to keep doing it. One day it will sink into my head also :-) -
