ABAP & Java ports in PI 7.1?
Hi Guys,
I have installed PI 7.1 and i found the port 50000 is defined on the ABAP stack under SMICM -> GoTo -> Services
HTTP - 50000
when i added the parameter Icm/server_port_0
PROT=HTTP, PORT=80$$, TIMEOUT=30, PROCTIMEOUT=600, the port on the ABAP stack changed to 8000.
But I see all the other java components SLD, ESR and others are starting only with the 8000 port instead of HTTP port 50000.
any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Srini
Hello Srinivas,
Can you please let m eknow how did you create two http ports ? I am facing the exact same issue as you the UME is using the 8000 port wheras the portal and other xapps applications are relying on the 50000 port. As a result the webdynpros from Abap are executing fine with the the 8000 port but when we try to execut ethem om portal side I am getting the error 404 : resource not found..
If I can create the two ports like you did possibly that would resolve th eissue. I tried creating two exact entries in the profile for icm/server_port_0 = 8000 and 50000 but it takes only one value..
Any information would be helpfull
Thanks

J2EE_ADMIN has no Port Role in ABAP+JAVA stacks system
I installed 2004s BI IDES SR2 with ABAP+JAVA on Win 2003 + Oracle, default client 800.
I find the J2EE runs fine, I can log into SDM, configtools. And I can launch
http://host:50000/index and http://host:50000/irj/portal, which mean the portal is up.
But with http:host:50000/index.html, I can't goto http://host:50000/useradmin, nor http://host:50000/nwa
The error message is:
Application cannot be started.
Details: com.sap.engine.services.deploy.container.ExceptionInfo: Naming error.
with http://host:50000/irj/portal, both j2ee_admin and sap* can log in, but without any portal role. Thus
only logoff link available, and I can't do anything else.
I read through all the related post and can't figure out a way to assign the portal role to j2ee_admin or create additional portal user, anyone can help my situation.
I also can not log into Visual Admin with j2ee_admin, connect error:
Error while connecting
com.sap.engine.services.jmx.exception.JmxSecurityException: Caller J2EE_ADMIN not authorized, only role administrators is allowed to access JMX
(which I checked sap_j2ee_admin role is green on su01 role tab with correct valid period.)
what should I do?
ThanksThanks for prompt reply, Debasis.
Could you please elaborate the steps I need to take? Thanks.
eg. how do I "Assign a user a role that has the permission for the UME action JMX.JmxManageAll"
I don't have any portal tools working properly yet, I don't have useradmin, and I don't have nwa. I don't even have visual admin. Everything I do in ABAP, pfcg, su01, seems have no effect to those portal functionalities.
The fact that I enable emergency sap* from configtool also doesn't make useradmin / nwa work...
Any idea? Thank you. -
In ABAP+Java system installation
Hi,
I installed ABAP+Java system On that i installed XI 3.0 SR1.I after applying the J2EERTOS11_0-20000118.SAR patch on J2EE engine. This patch consist of lot of bugs.I just stopped the installation of patch. After again when i log on to J2EE engine with port 50000.Its showing no page dispaly on localhost.I checked the J2EE instance.J2EE instance running properly.Even i can't log in to SDM and J2EE administartor.
Before patching I can able to log in.But now its loging failing.
May be the error is at 50000 port.I installed everything on one Central instance.
Need urgent reply.Hello,
i think that you want to patch your j2ee-server. Therefore you have to download four parts for PATCH SP11.
Support Packages and Patches > SAP NetWeaver > SAP NETWEAVER SAP NETWEAVER 04 > Java Server:
J2EERT11_0-10001982.SAR (Part 4/4)
SAPINST10_0-20000118.SAR
J2EERTOS11_0-20000118.SAR
CTRL<database>11_0-20000118.sar
You have to download all these files and extract then in one folder - there you have to use the sapinst and install the patch.
I hope i understood your requirement the right way.

SSO To J2EE engine of ABAP+JAVA Addin Install
Hi all,
I have setup an SAP system as a ABAPJAVA Addin Install. The system is running NW04s SP11. I have an SAP Portal installed on the JAVA side to support some BW functions. I would like to do SSO from the users desktop directly to the portal component. Is this possible with this type of install? I have setup Kerberos / SPNego with a JAVA only install connected to a Microsoft ADS. I have also configured the system to use MYSAPSSO2 tickets from another SAP system, but that requires the users to go to the other SAP system before going to ABAPJAVA Addin system. I would like the users to go directly to the ABAP+JAVA Addin system via a URL like http://server:port/irj/... and get single signed on to the system. Is this possible?
Any help is appreciated!
Russ ScherbarthHello Russ,
yes it is possible to configure SSO using SPNego Loginmodule (Kerberos) for this type of system as well. You also can use the SPNego configuration wizard to get the configuration work done, but you need to perform some manual follow up work as well.
So my recommendation is check the online documentation for wizard based configuration AND manual configuration, perform the wizard based configuration (more or less the same as you did for the other system) and afterwards (depending on your JDK) you might have to perform some manual follow up activities.
Select as user resolution mode prefixbased, the attribute to be used is uniquename. In addition you need to create the service user in the portal database (when using SUN JDK), as you do not have direct connection to Active Directory.
With best regards,

DB refresh on Netweaver 7.0 ABAP+JAVA system - Issue
Dear Folks
I am having an issue with starting the Java instance after system copy.
This is the situation
System QAS database was refreshed from system PRD.
Both the systems are on NW 7.0 Ehp1 SP 18, in a HPUX/ORACLE environment.
Our normal landscape is full of R3 systems so teh DBA's have been historically doing DB refresh by copying for teh Oracle fileystems and then renaming the schema and some post db refresh activities to get the DB in teh target system up and running. Pardon my terminologies I ma not a DBA. The abpove procedure has worked fine with R3 systems.
But with the above mentioned Netweaver system ABAP instance is running fine after refresh while Java instance is not since SMSICM-> Goto-> HTTP Server -> DIsplay Data is showing
HTTP Application Server Handler
ABAP Server operational = TRUE
J2EE Server configured = TRUE
J2EE HTTP port =
J2EE HTTPS port =
J2EE Server operational = FALSE
Default root access handler = ABAP
URL Prefix Table loaded = TRUE
There are no other dumps or errors in the system and teh startup logs do not show any error. I have looked up online and the System Copy Guide for 7.0 systems and I understand SAP recommends using sapinst. But I would like to know if there is a workaround to fix the j2ee instance.
I have seen a few forumns where people have had similar issues but no solution.
FYI, The the Instance_IDXXXXX in the SAP J2EE Engine- Config Tool in system QAS is that of PRD and there is no entry for the instance ID of the QAS system.
I have tried changing all the entries that are pointing to PRD under Cluster_Data-> Instance.properties.IDXXXX to that of QAS and saved and restarted but no luck as the Instance_IDXXXXX of QAS does not show up in teh config Tool menu.
All the properties files at teh OS level are pointing correctly to QAS, so I would liek to know if there is any way to change the config on eth DB level.
Thanks in advance.
sapkidHi,
When you go for ABAP+JAVA system refresh please always ose the JAVA export method .
Take the JAVA export of the source system with the help of sapinst.Check the j2ee_admin and the ddic password of source system.
then you need to get the offline backup of the Source system.
then import it on the target system wth the help of sapinst and in the middle it shall promt you to restore from the backup of the source system.
Always use this method as JAVA stores it file at file system level and in the database. So you need both the files .
Thanks Rishi Abrol -

Ben -
Hello,
i have a BI 7 system - abap+java stack
the java stack is supposed to be configured to work against client 001 in the abap system
apperently this is not the case
usually it is configured from the http://<host>:<port>/nwa ->identity management but i can't login to the java/portal - the login screen is jumping again and again no matter which user name i put
can anyone advise where is the java client in the abap stack (usually 001) is configured?
Regards,
MosheHi,
Yes for default Central Services Installation the java stack will point to 001 client.
Just check the certificate in the key store(in visual admin), this error generally occurs when the certicate gets expired. If it is the case then delete the certificate and create an new one then import the certificate in the abap stack.
Regards,
Vamshi. -
System Start up issue in my ABAP + JAVA system
HI,
when i try to start up my SAP (ABAP+JAVA) system, server processes fail to start. Below is the trace file.
Though it says missing file jvmx.jar, not sure if this is the reason for the start up issue.
Thanks to check and assist.

ABAP+JAVA - Java-addon does not seem connected
Hi,
I messed around with this new system a month ago and now that I finally got back to it the JAVA part don't seem to be working or the SCS instance is not connected to the Central Instance.
The SCS instance seems to be running fine.
Some questions:
1. In t-code SM51, should you be seeing any reference to the SCS/JAVA instance?
2. The <b>Central Instance number is 08</b>. The S<b>CS number is 10</b>. So I should be able to connect to the java part by browsing to http://hostname:51000 or not? (I get a page cannot be displayed)
3. When I for example trying opening the Solution Manager Diagnostics from the SAPGui the Internet Explorer window that opens try to browse to http:/hostname:8008/xxxxxxxxx . Should it not go to port 51000?
4. Is it correct that the Default parameter rdisp/msserv_internal = 2008 and that the SCS instance one = 3910?
5. Any other advice or ideas on how I can troubleshoot this?
Many thanks!Hi,
some answers:
1. No
2. no. On the Java SCS only Java Message Server and Java Enqeue Server are running. Try http:/host:8108/msgserver you should get an answer from the Java Message Server because its http port is 81$$
3. not neccesaryl. In an ABAP+Java System the ICM distributes HTTP request between ABAP and Java world. 80$$ is the default http port if ICM. Without any URL prefix the ICM should redirect to the Java Dispatcher. When the URL has a prefix starting with sap, e.g. http://host:8008/sap/public/info its going to the ABAP side.
4. you find default ports at http://service.sap.com/security > Security in Details > Infrastructure. There should be a pdf called TCP/IP ports used by SAP software or something similar.
5. what do you want to troubleshoot? Everything seems to be fine

Delete JAVA Stack in system with ABAP+JAVA
Hello,
A few days ago I installed a SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 with both stack: ABAP+JAVA.
But now due some things, I want to know if it is possible to delete the JAVA stack! Yesterday I did a search how to do this, how it is possible to do this, and I found a document/presentation "SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Deinstalling Java Add-In" on the following link:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/608b079f-d0f2-2c10-62ac-a00f1b6d536f
The database of this system is a MS SQL Server 2008 (R2) and the operation system a Windows Server 2008... and as you can read in this document, it is more focused on Oracle databases, so I would ask you if this document is correct (it is official?) and if it is possible to do this in SQL Server environment, and if you know which are the manuals post installation activities for SQL Server, because all that manual post installation steps in this document is for Oracle DB!
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Joao Dimas - PortugalHello Subhash.Chandra
I did the deinstallation of SAP Java Add-In, for this I followed that document which I described above. After deinstallation through sapinst, I also eliminated some directories as it is mentioned in that document, like the following directories:
DIR_GLOBAL\security\data
DIR_INSTANCE\SDM
DIR_INSTANCE\j2ee
I also delete all Java parameters in default and instance profile (like j2ee*).
So, after all, I started the ABAP instance... the system was starts, but I unfortunately the SAP MMC console show a yellow semaphore which is related with a problem disp+work.EXE, it have the following status:
Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec, J2EE status info unavailable.
I already restarted the sap system but even so that error is shown!
I checked the dev_disp:

Password resetting in web as abap+java
Hi,
I have installed portal 6.0 SR1 on Web AS ABAP+JAVA 640 SR1.
User I am creating in su01 through the ABAP stack.
Whenever I assign the initial password to a user created in this way or reset password of a user (through the ABAP stack), portal asks for new password and confirm the password. After this, it says <i>"user authentication failed". </i>
The workaround for this is that with the initial password of the user, I have to login as the user in portal through ABAP stack. When it asks for new password and we confirm it, we have to user this 'new' password to login to the portal screen.
I would like to know whether there is a setting I have to make in the JAVA stack for this purpose, or this is some bug in abap+java stack.
Thanks and regards,
Kunal.Hi Kunal,
u can reset password of user through Visual Administrator(from UserStore) or by WebAdministrator

Web Dispatcher configuration (ABAP+Java vs. ABAP+Portal)
We are using an internal Web Dispatcher to allow the connections from different networks.
This Webdispatcher entry we add to WAS configuration within Portal system object
By defintion of ABAP+Java double stack we do not have any problems and the test
http://webpispatcher:port/sap/bc/ping is successful.
When we have a ABAP system + Portal (Java) we only can test the connection
http://webpispatcher:port/
When we execute the test
http://webpispatcher:port/sap/bc/ping we get an error, because the url goes to Java stack.
We also detected that on Web Dispatcher configuration for ABAP+Java we have ABAP and J2EE server groups and application servers.
For ABAP+Portal we have only J2EE groups on Web Dispatcher configuration.
Question:
Which SAP parameter (e.g. ms/server_port_0, icm/HTTP/j2ee_0) or Web Dispatcher parameter (ms/http_port) is responsible for generation of ABAP groups (e.g. PUBLIC) within Web Dispatcher?Which SAP parameter (e.g. ms/server_port_0, icm/HTTP/j2ee_0) or Web Dispatcher parameter (ms/http_port) is responsible for generation of ABAP groups (e.g. PUBLIC) within Web Dispatcher?
In ABAP the logon group is handled by the ICF. In SICF you specify within the actual services(properties) which logon group that service should use for load balancing. As far as I remember though there is an exception if you are using an "end-to-end" ssl configuration where you can specify the destination logon group using wdisp/HTTPS/dest_logon_group parameter.
rdisp/mshost is the parameter on your web dispatcher that points to your message server to get a list of available logon groups.

Starting J2EE(ABAP+Java Add In)
Hi
We've got BW 3.5 on Sap NetWeaver 2004 ABAP + Java (Java Add-In). We've got the problem with starting it.
Our system is on 1 server x64. We've got Windows 2003 Server. DataBase Oracle.
So in MMC everything is OK. We've got ABAP + Java instance (processes msg_server.exe, disp+work.exe,igswd.exe )
and Central Services (msg_server.exe, enserver.exe ).
First we didn't have some parametrs in our profile(DBW_DVEBMGS00_sap2). I added such as
icm/HTTP/j2ee_0 PREFIX=/, HOST=sap2, CONN=0-10, PORT=50000
rdisp/j2ee_start_lazy 1
rdisp/j2ee_timeout 600
rdisp/j2ee_start 1
exe/j2ee F:usrsapDBWDVEBMGS00j2eeos_libsjcontrol.exe
The problem is that i can't log in to my Visual Administrator and can't reach http://localhost:50000
Another problem is that i can't see in directory "F:\usr\sap\DBW\DVEBMGS00\work\" such log files as dev_bootstrap dev_jcontrol dev_server0 dev_jcmon
In SICF i've started all the services.
In the transaction SMICM i've got such a picture
HTTP Application Server Handler
ABAP Server operational = TRUE
J2EE Server configured = TRUE
J2EE HTTP port =
J2EE HTTPS port =
J2EE Server operational = FALSE
Default root access handler = ABAP
URL Prefix Table loaded = FALSE
What problem could it be? What log files should i see to find the problem?
From the first view only in dev_icm there are WARNINGS
[Thr 5876] *** WARNING => IcmNetCheck: NiAddrToHost(10.0.0.1) took 5 seconds [icxxtool.c 1012]
[Thr 5876] *** WARNING => IcmNetCheck: 1 possible network problems detected - please check the network/DNS settings [icxxtool.c 1068]
Thanks for you help1) The folder is shared and the user <SAP_ID>adm(dbwadm) has all permissions(FullControll).
2) About J2EE profile parametrs i wrote before.
in my profile of ABAP + Java add in instance
(H:\usr\sap\DBW\SYS\profile\DBW_DVEBMGS00_sap2) i added parametrs
icm/HTTP/j2ee_0 PREFIX=/, HOST=sap2, CONN=0-10, PORT=50000
rdisp/j2ee_start_lazy 1
rdisp/j2ee_timeout 600
rdisp/j2ee_start 1
exe/j2ee F:\usr\sap\DBW\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\os_libs\jcontrol.exe
icm/server_port_0 PROT=HTTP,PORT=8100
I didn't manage to add parametrs because it's written "W:Unknown parameter jstartup/trimming_properties , a check cannot be performed "
jstartup/instance_properties
jstartup/trimming_properties
jstartup/protocol
jstartup/vm/home
exe/jlaunch
jstartup/vm/home
Also i had a profile for Central Service Instance with parametrs
SAPSYSTEMNAME = DBW
INSTANCE_NAME = SCS01
SAPSYSTEM = 01
DIR_GLOBAL = F:\usr\sap\DBW\SYS\global
DIR_PROFILE = F:\usr\sap\DBW\SYS\profile
DIR_EXECUTABLE = F:\usr\sap\DBW\SCS01\exe
SAPGLOBALHOST = sap2
DIR_CT_RUN = F:\usr\sap\DBW\SYS\exe\nuc\NtIa64U
rdisp/msserv = 3601
enque/table_size = 4096
enque/deque_wait_answer = FALSE
enque/process_location = LOCAL
enque/encni/port = 3201
rdisp/enqname = $(rdisp/myname)
enque/snapshot_pck_ids = 100
ms/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP, PORT=8101
3)j2sdk1.4.2_11-x64 including jre
4) That's the problem.
When i run it and choose "Local Administrator menue" it's written "Can't open shared memory administration (rc=3)"
What problem could it be?

Maintenance Optimizer - SMSY (ABAP + JAVA)
Hi gurus,
I will try to explain what is my doubt/problem.
We have a system ECC 6.0 with both stacks ABAP + JAVA. We want to do a support packages update, so I went to maintenance optimizer (MOPZ) and I choose that system, but during the process, after I select the SPS 18, in the end of MOPZ process, only ABAP packages (stack 18) were calculated! Which means the JAVA support packages was not maintained in Download Basket! Why?!
I would expect that process on MOPZ did this calculation for both stacks ABAP and JAVA together, but not, there is only ABAP packages in Download Basket!
Because I also want to do JAVA support packages Update (with JSPM)!
I guess this is a problem in SMSY... in Instance definition, isn't it?
Can you help me please?!
Thank you
João Dimas - PortugalHi,
The SMSY definition would be the problem.
Make sure the Java based techincal usage types are also selected for the system under the Product Instance Selection tab.
Also, a corresponding technical system should be created for the Java part. The technical system details should contain information about the Java stack i.e. message server, dispatcher port, software components etc.
Ideally all the above information should be populated automatically if the Java part of system is registered properly on the SolMan SLD and SMSY_SETUP has run successfully.

Srikishan
