ABAP Kernal version vs JAVA kernal Version

Hi Experts,
We are running on ABAP+JAVA stack on AIX 5.3 and ORA 10g as Backend, SAP ECC 6.0 SR3
Our ABAP kernal is at 175. I have downloaded the kernal and patches for JAVA. JAVA kernal which I have downloaded is 185. Can I apply 185 to JAVA or it shold be of the same level of ABAP.

there is no need for ABAP and JAVA kernel versions to be same
But I would prefer to keep both the stacks at same level

I was just looking at the JDK on my Mac with Mac OS X 10.7.3 and it looks like I have different versions of the JDK around.
That's what I have
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0_29-b11-402.jdk
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0_31-b04-411.jdk
/System/Library/java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk.
Why is that messed up ?
I checked to what I'm pointing and I get that
/usr/bin/java points at /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current/Commands/java
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current points at /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A
Is that ok ? How can I check that I'm really using the most recent version of JDK, in this case /1.6.0_31-b04-411.jdk ? Should I remove redundant JDKs, and if yes what and how ?

Sorry in advance if my question is a bit uncalled for in this thread.
Somehow I have not managed to get the latest version of Java (1.6.0_31) installed on my MacBook.
According to JavaTester.org I have version 1.6.0_29 which is confirmed by my Java Preferences Panel.
The only 2 versions listed in the panel are 1.6.0_29 (64-bit) and 1.6.0_29 (32-bit)
The webplugin check from firefox states that 'Java Applet Plug-in" is not up to date.
Firefox Add-on Tab says I have 'Java Applet Plug-in' version 14.0.3
Oracle.com says the latest version of Java is Version 7 Update 3
Java.com says the latest version of Java is Version 6 Update 31
Furthermore Java.com says updates will be automatically download through 'Apple Software Update' but it shows no sign of an update.
What's wrong? What is the latest version of both Java JDK and Applet? How can I fix this?

Java JDK Versions?

I am installing 11g XE, Weblogic, Forms & Reports, and SQLDesigner for a class and I don't understand why it keep whining about needing obsolete JDK versions. We all know there was a big uproar over Java security issues over the past few years so I don't understand why this software would be complaining when I try to tell it to use the current JDK version. Isn't Java JDK always written to be backward compatible? What about the real installations of this software? Or is the JDK version irrelevant if the JRE is up to date?

Should I remove older versions of Java from Add/Remove Programs?

I have about 9 or 10 older versions of Java mostly version 5 updates 2-11installed in the Add/Remove programs section of Control Panel. Should I remove these or leave them installed before installing the next update 6.2?

Yea, you should definitely remove them via the add/remove tool.
Sometimes if you are developing for different versions you might
have more than one - but in most cases more than 1 or 2 is
unnecessary.

Java.specification.version

Hi, Is there a format defined for the java.specification.version system property? I couldn't find a list of the specification numbers and so I'm wondering if it will it always be of the form 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, etc.? The other properties such as java.version and java.vm.version include minor versions and build numbers.
I am trying to detect if the JRE version is 1.4 and I know I can just do a beginsWith(1.4) but I'd like to understand if the property value is predictable across JREs (vendor/version).
Give me a link if you know its mentioned somewhere. I couldn't find anything more than what is mentioned in the java.lang.System API doc.

Personally I would use ClassLoader.getResourceAsStream("java/lang/Object.class") and parse out the major and minor version numbers.

If u want your java applications to run in your system then you should have Java AS too. you can install Java AS as an Add-on installation and u can find a lot of materials for this thro sdn as well as help.sap.com

HT5946 Is it possible to downgrade to an older version of Java?

Ever since I upgraded Java to version 1.6.0_65 (Update 17) it will not work. I am reluctant to upgrade my operating system (OS X 10.6.8) as everything else works fine. I have a not so new macbook pro (Intel core 2 duo) 2.53Ghz 32Bit (with 64 bit kernal). I can't find an older version of Java on the apple website (or anywhere else)

Ok. I have found that I can get this version of Java to work if I uncheck the box "Keep temporary files to ensure fast access" under Network in the Java Preferences. I don't really understand why but it works so I don't really care.

SAP Mobile Engine with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version ?

Hi, I would like to know if I can use the SAP Mobile Engine on the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version that you can download form SDN or in other words if I can configure a test system with the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP SP12 and SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version ?
I figure out that I can Develop some BAPI Wrappers on the ABAP Trial Stack but I can't enter on the SAP Mobile Engine in the JAVA stack, so is there any way ?

And I followed some Tutorial and did some BAPI WRAPPERS, so you are telling me that I don't Need any JAVA STACK?, at least just to test?, Becasue I need to syncronize the PDA with the ABAP Trial server which is my Middleware also, ?? I have to Develop a Webdynpor for JAVA Applicaction in order to use an applicaction on my PDA (I would like to work OFFLINE applicactions, so that way How I can Upload the webdynpor App. to the PDA and Sync them ?

SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version

less then one month ago I bought the book "Developers's Guide to SAP NetWeaver Portal Applications" on sap-press.com. According to the chapter 2, to enable the reader to reproduce the examples, it's suggested to install a local portal enviroment. The authors suggest to download from sdn and install the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version which seems not to be available. Can you tell me which could be the new realese to download with the same features? Or where can I find the requested release ?

I'm currently working on a project where I need to develop with EP 6.0. For testing my development I wanted to download the SAP NetWeaver 2004 Java Trial Version from

You only need SAPGui to logon to ABAP instance...
If you installed a Java Instance.. you need to logon using your browser... URL is in the manual.
For the J2EE engine page,
http://<hostname_with_fqdn>:500<instance_number>
If there a portal installed,
http://<hostname_with_fqdn>:500<instance_number>/irj/portal
All this info is contained in the installation guide.

Can anyone tell me if the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version found at:

contains all the SAP PI Java components?
A client is asking me to verify if this trial version contains the Java parts of SAP PI.

There isn't a PI 7.0 oder XI 3.0 version as well.
So i guess SAP will not provide a PI 7.1 Trail on SDN.
it would be to big for a local installation ... because you need ABAP and Java Stack of the Application Server.

I've installed it and got it running with the SLES VMWare Version George pointed me to in this [Forum Topic|Where to download SLES10 SP1 SAP Version?;. It seems that the default License is already expiered and the server stops after 30 minutes. I tried to get a License Key from https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/bc/bsp/spn/minisap/minisap.htm but there is no selection for the Instance Name CTB. Has anyone tried this Trial Version before?
