  • Re:Role of an Abaper in support projects

    Hi,
What can be the role of an abaper in support projects and moreover what is production support and development support. How do we handle issues in production supoort i.e., we directly login to the production server and solve or we copy the code in development and solve.
    Plz clarify....
    Thanks
    Vamshi

    Hi Vamsi,
Abaper role in Support projects is solve the issues of ABAP related in production. it may be data inconsistance, program logic is incorrect, data dictionary issues, Dump error and so on. You can analyse in production server and do necessary changes in develoment server. Development server having program no need to copy it.

  • Re: Roles of  ABAPER in implementation project

    HI experts,
What s the Roles of  ABAPER in implementation project?and responsibilities in support project?

<b>IMPLEMENTATION </b>:This is project in which we implement sap for a company from scratch right from creating tables and data for the first time..writing code for the first time etc.
<b>SUPPORT</b> : this is the kind of project where SAP has been already implemented but due to some additional business requirement or any thing like small problems in general they hire a team who work for them to solve the small issues.its also called issue based project.
It depends on the Volume of the company and how many company codes and Plants it have and for how many it has to be implemented
There are different types of Projects in SAP:
    1. <u>Implementation</u>
Customer wants to install SAP/Include different modules of SAP viz. MM/SD/FI/CO/PP etc for the first time.Previously he might be using some legacy system in his orgn. This is implementation project. Here one needs to integrate several modules, migrate data from Legacy system to SAP system. Need to prepare interfaces/RFC's to interact with 3rd party systems.
Most of the company's follow ASAP methodology for the Implementation projects
there are 5 stages in the ASAP methodology
    they are
    1. Project Initial Preparation
    2.Business Blueprint
    3.Realization
    4/ Final Preparation
    5.Golive And Support
ABAP work mostly starts in the Blue print ending stage or in the realization stage
    2. <u>Support</u>
Customer has already installed SAP & wants to give the work of maintaining those systems. This is support project
There is no phases in it. Just receive the tickets, solve and send back to client.
    3. <u>Upgrade</u>
Customer has SAP Version 4.6b and wants to update his version i.e. wants to go to Version 4.7. This is upgrade project
    4. <u>Rollouts</u>
Customer has upgraded his version & wants to rollout country specific changes.
    This is rollout project
Say a company is having branches in 3 to 4 countries.
In One country they have already implemented SAP
IF they wants to implement the same SAP in other countries of their branches they will simply follow the same SAP implementation policy (Rollout) how they have done for the first country just by changing the country specific settings and configurations.

    Hi,
Are they going to use this project for just testing purpose?
If it is so then I will suggest them to carry out this testing in Quality provided the Quality server is refreshed with Production in recent time.
    Hope its useful.

  • Not able to import a dummy project into eclipse

    Hi,
I have downloaded a dummy project and I am trying import into my workspace.
I right click on the navigator window and choose import.
Then i click on the option which says general and then select "Existing Projects into Workspace" and then click next
Then it goes to the import projects window where I am required to select a root directory or select a archive file.
There I select the root directory of the project which contains the WEB-INF.
However the finish button is graded out.
    Please advise

    Hi ^^,
this is just for documentation. this is what i did. I created a war file of the project and then imported the war file. If you get the message that a projetc already exists at the location then simply change the name of the project you are creating.

  • Saving favorite titles - dummy project best?

I'm just beginning to learn FCP X.  I used to be fairly proficient in FCP a few years ago and just getting back into editing now.
I am looking for the best way to save a favorite title with color and other formatting.
Stumbled on the fact that I can save a duplicate project in the project library with all kinds of favorite stuff including titles and then copy from that master dummy project and paste stuff into a current project.
Is there a simpler way of doing this?

Couple of ways, simplest is in the Text inspector, click on where it sasys Normal and select a save option.

  • Abaper role in project

what are the roles and  responsibilties of functional and technical consltant

    hi,
    Role in SAP Implementation:
SAP Implementation is the whole of processes that defines a complete method to
implement SAP software in an organization. It is based on best practices and case studies from various literature sources and presents a collection of processes and products that make up a complete implementation method to allow any organization to plan and execute the implementation of SAP (ERP) software. The SAP implementation process is made up out of four main phases, i.e. the project preparation where a vision of the future-state of the SAP solution is being created, a sizing and blueprinting phase where the solution stack is created and training is being performed, a functional development phase and finally a final preparation phase, when the last tests are being performed before the actual go live.
ABAP Developer Role is to prepare the Technical Specification (based on a Functional Specification given by a Functional Consultant), build the code, Review the code and finally to prepare the Unit Test Cases. Sometimes ABAPer may be asked to do a technical research for an optimal solution.
    Role in SAP Support:
After a go live, the application needs a maintenance/support to resolve the issues/tickets raised by the users when using the application. Ticket is like a request for changes/bug fixing or a request for a new ABAP Developer Role includes bug fixing/change the existing code due to new requirements/build a new code etc.
    Role in SAP Upgrade:
SAP Upgrade is nothing but upgrading the software with a superior version which has got more advantages when compared to the earlier version.
ABAP Developer Role is to go through transactions SPAU/SPDD to compare the old and new version of the change and finally need to activate the relevant one. Some times might need to work on SAP notes too.

  • Abaper role in RFID project

    hi all,
can anybody tell me role of abaper in RFID project?? by next month i have to engage in RFID implementation project, i dont have any details of project right now..can any body tell me what they will expecting from my side in project ... what will be my responsiblitites in this type of projects...

    Hi,
Abaper role is to write some Custom Function module to query from SAP OER, which later going to be exposed as web service.
That webservice can be used by some middleware or for some interfacing. Probably some FM's for reporting purpose in BI.
