ABC analysis and cyclic inventory

What is the relAtion between ABC indicators and CC indicators? Why do we need to run ABC analysis for cyclic inventory?Cant we randomly assign the CC indicators in MM02?

Please see the below note
What is A, B, C and D Indicator for a material for cyclic count?
All the material may not be important for cyclic count purpose, it may be required to count
some items frequently and some items rarely.
A cyclic count indicator A or B or C or D is allocated to material in the material master
based on either consumption value (consumption X rate) or forecast value
(forecast quantity X rate).
The item with more consumption value are classified as A, and with minimum as D.
u201CAu201D indicator items will be counted frequently (say every month), D will be less frequently
(say every 6 months or every one year). Daily a number of items will be taken for count, some
may be with A indicator, some with B and so on.
Mark all materials that are to be included in cycle counting with a cycle counting indicator
in the material master record (storage data). The cycle counting indicator is used to group
the materials together into various cycle counting categories (for example, A, B, C, and D).
There is an option in SAP to have a fixed indicator for a material say A for a material which
does not have a high consumption value but it is important to count it every month, then the
material can be marked as A indicator in material master with indicator u201Cfixedu201D
In Customizing OMCO, for Inventory Management, you can define for each category the time
intervals at which the materials are to be counted.
Fields : No. of phys. inventories per fiscal year for cycle counting
For e.g. A - 12, B - 6, C - 3, D - 1
Specifies how often during the fiscal year a physical inventory is to be carried out for a
material subject to cycle counting.
The system uses this specification to convert the count interval into workdays.
Fields : Physical inventory interval (in workdays) for cycle counting
For e.g. A = 12 times per year and your Total Factory Calendar days = 300
The interval will be calculated as 300 / 12 = 25 days
Specifies after how many workdays following the last inventory count another physical
inventory has to be carried out for a given material.
The count interval is determined automatically on the basis of the number of physical
inventories specified for the fiscal year.
Fields : Float time (in workdays) for cycle counting
For e.g. A - 10, B - 20, C - 30, D - 0
Indicates the number of workdays by which the planned count date may vary from the current
date.
For examples :-
For the plant, the float time is five days.
A physical inventory has been planned for a material belonging to category C for June, 1.
On expiration of the float time (after June, 6), the physical inventory has not yet been
carried out.
Irrespective of the category, the material is parked for the next cycle counting run.
Fields :- Percentage of performance measure for cycle counting ind.
Specifies the percentage allocation of the materials to the individual cycle counting
categories.
The percentage value is used for automatic assignment of the cycle counting indicator.
For example :-
In the given plant, 200 materials are subject to the cycle counting physical inventory
procedure.
In Customizing for Inventory Management, the following percentage allocation has been defined
for the plant:
A materials: 50%
B materials: 25%
C materials: 15%
D materials: 10%
            100%
In the cycle counting analysis, the materials are sorted by consumption. After completion
of the analysis, the cycle counting indicator is assigned as follows:
The first 3 materials (sorted in descending order according to consumption) represent 50% of
the consumption and have the indicator A.
The next 12 materials represent 25% of the consumption and have the indicator B.
The next 49 materials represent 15% of the consumption and have the indicator C.
The remaining 136 materials represent the rest (10%) of the consumption and have the
indicator D.
Marking Materials for Cycle Counting
This step is only required if you perform cycle counting for the first time or if you want
to update the cycle counting indicators.
In the material master record (storage data), maintain the cycle counting indicator for all
the materials that are to be included in cycle counting.
You can set the indicator in one of the following two ways:
1. manually in the material master record. To do this, choose
Material -> Change from the Material Master menu.
2. automatically using ABC analysis To do this, choose
Special procedures -> Cycle counting -> Set CC indicator from the Physical Inventory menu.

  • Execution of ABC anlysis for cyclic inventory

Im not able to run the ABC indicators for cyclic inventory. We configure it on the basis of consumption/usage.and take account of material consumption of MRP areas. The massge 'no analysis performed'is occuring. What is the reason?

    Hi,
You can use the program ABC Cycle Counting Analysis (RMCBIN00) to perform an analysis. In this analysis, the system assigns the materials to the individual categories according to consumption or requirements. You can also specify whether this analysis is to consider only the materials with cycle counting indicator or all materials. The cycle counting indicator in the material master records can be updated automatically by this program. I hope this will help you.

  • ABC analysis and MC40

    hi-
    Environment : ECC6.0
We use the standard MIBC-ABC analysis which changes the ABCD indicators based on the turnover or u can say consumption.
    Scenario:
We have low cost value components (say Bolts) but have a high usage/consumption. So based on ABC indicators, they come up for counting very ofter. We dont want  to count them every month due to their low value but would like to make them available in standard SAP ABC analysis.
And NO, we dont want to fix the CC indicators for these bolts.
    My question as per following?
    (1) How can i achieve a situation that when the ABC analysis runs and provides a report that Bolts are A ( high consumption indicator-monthly), i am able to change the CC indicators subsequently for the Bolts to D ( once a year) so that i dont do the inventory count for them. ( I dont want to use MM17)
    (2) Can i run MIBC analysis and then execute MC 40 for bolts (if this T-code will assist me since i dont know much about this T-code)?
    (3) Can i just run MC40 or is there another T-code which will assist me?
    (4) Is there a process in Standard SAP which will be enble me to achieve my requriement.
Looking for any information you all can share.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the response.
MICN is the only one that can update the indicator used for cycle counting.
Once MICN updates the Cycle count indicators, can i then go into MC40 or similar T-code, select the range of materials or material types for the BOLTS in the input screen and make a change on the CC indicators manually to D ( annual count)?
However, pretty often the cycle count indicators are precalculated by MICN based on consumption, but then individual items are changed to get a different indicator for specific reasons.
You may have a low value item, which is very important for your processes.
Based on consumption values it may get indicator C, but if you have differences on that item then it is a critical factor for your business, hence you want count it more often, thus you would manually change it to B or even A. (which can be done directly from the MICN report)
My requirement is : I have low value materials in high qty which show in Monthly inventory count due to high consumption. This is my target group to change the CC indicatos to C or D.
When you indicate i can manually change in MICN report, does it mean that i need to run MICN report twice, first to get the actual ABC analysis and then second time, select the materials (BOLT), generate a report and change the CC indicators.
I do see an option to input materials in the input screen of MICN but i dont see the option to input or provide the required CC indicators as a manual input.
If you could provide more information on the sequence of steps, it is appreciated.
    Appreciate your support.

  • ABC analysis & cycle counting

    Dear Gurus,
I am having doubt regarding ABC ananlysis & Cycle counting.
    1. What is ABC analysis and how it can be used in SAP MM ?
    2. What is cycle counting? Is there any relation b/w cycle counting and ABC analysis? If so kindly explain.
Kindly explain in detail. Thank you.

Cycle Counting is periodic counting e.g. every 2 months, every 6 months etc. etc.  Typically you would not want to count every material every 2 months so you carry out an 'ABC analysis' in order to categorise your materials.  You set an ABC indicator against materials and this allows you to, for example, count your more valuable materials more often.
For example your set up could be:
    'A' = most valuable
    'C' = least valuable
    Count:
    'A' materials every 2 months
    'B' materials every 6 months
    'C' materials every 12 months.

    Hi,
I have used FM REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY in my report without specifying a PF-STATUS that means STANDARD PF-STATUS is used in ALV, and moved from Quality to Production, till yesterday all the features such as Sort, Filter, Local file along with Totals, Subtotals and ABC Analysis were visible, today all buttons are visible but TOTALS, SUBTOTALS and ABC ANALYSIS buttons are missing.
I have not done any changes to the Code nor the layout.

    Hi Lalit,
    I have checked the Layout.
In Layout in Quality there are checkboxes in Summation/Totals column in front of Numeric fields,
but these checkboxes are not visible in Layout of Production system.

  • ABC Analysis report -Inventory

    HI
Has anyone created this kind of report in B1 . I came to know that this report is kind of standard report in most ERP.
Can you please let me know how can i created that kind of report .I need to create that report as soon as possible so i  need  some help from you experts .
    Thank you
    Bishal

In general, two types of ABC analysis are available in inventory management:
    1) classifying items based on their value of consumption or sells
    Inventory Calss
    % of Sale Value
    (sale/consumption Qty*unit price)
    A
    70 - 80
    B
    15 - 30
    C
    5 - 10
    2) classifying items based on their value of stock.
    Inventory Calss
    % of Inventory Value
    (stock qty*unit price)
    A
    70 - 80
    B
    15 - 30
    C
    5 - 10
The first query can be limited based on sales documents or inventory documents (related to company nature).

  • A question about ABC analysis for Cycle counting

    Hello expert,
What is  RMCBIN00  used for? Currently, user asked me if we can copy  RMCBIN00 and perform ABC analysis by quantity? I have no knowledge about it. Can any expert give some clue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards, Johnny

    Hi
RMCBIN00 is a standard ABAP report available within your SAP system (depending on your version and release level). Below is the standard documentation available for this report and a few details of other objects it interacts with such as tables, function modules, includes etc. If you would like to see the full code listing simply enter the object name( RMCBIN00 ) into the relevant SAP transaction such as SE38 or SE80
RMCBIN00 -  ABC Analysis of Cycle Counting (Physical Inventory)
    PURPOSE
This report runs an analysis for the chosen material types in the cycle counting method of physical inventory.
    FEATURES
The analysis takes into account the consumption (usage) or the requirements values of the selected materials for the desired time period. You can decide whether you want to analyze:
Only materials that have a cycle counting indicator
All materials; that is, including materials that have no cycle counting indicator.

  • ABC Analysis [Update Item Assignment Window]

    Hello Friends
I am working on Inventory Cycle count in EBS R12. I am facing a problem.
I create an ABC Analysis for ##FGI sub inventory in M1 Organization on Vision Instance. Then i checked 22 items in my
On-Hand Availability Window. But when i checked Update Item Assignment window, it shows me 20 items. can you please tell me that
where my rest of 2 items are missing ? What are the reason or what organization parameter or what item attribute missing ? Do i need to do any special setup for rest of those two items?
Can you please please further told me that what is the back end process of Compiling ABC analysis ?
    Best Regards

    Hi,
Did you tried to re-initialize your ABC ..
I think it can be an issue that you might have defined 2 items later after defining all your ABC compile ,assignments etc.
And since your ABC compile is working on previous item it might not pick these newly defined items.
    Thanks

  • ABC-analysis in Open Items report

    Good day, dear experts!
I got a task from my chief to find out how to use menu path "Go to - ABC analysis" in Open Items report FBL1N/FBL5N.
Everything I've found is a message "ABC analysis not possible here", Message no. 0K076, and old-old note for this message 414907.
Do someone use ABC-analysis for open items?
I think it's useless, but maybe I don't understand something...
    Irina

    Hi,
    Nope, it is useful.
Execute FBL1N and select line items (Edit > Select All).
Then click on any amount column.
Then click on Goto > ABC Analysis
You will get the options to classify the line items in the A, B, C categories based on the % creteria etc. on that screen.

  • What does the field Inconsistent mean for ABC Analysis for Cycle Counting report

What does column "Inconsistent" mean for report ABC Analysis for Cycle Counting (T-code MIBC)?  The reason I'm asking is because I see TotalStock values greater than 0, but the Accounting 1 view for Material Master and MMBE both show zero stock.  I do not understand why TotalStock in the report does not show zero.  Can anyone explain how this can happen?
Note: the report is run for consumption/usage date range.
    Thank you,
    Doug

    Hi,
MBEW table and MMBE transaction will show the current stock. When you run MIBC report for consumption, the system considers the consumption for the date range given (from MVER table), which may not be equal to the current stock. Refer the KBA:  1817237 - Stock quantities and stock values in MIBC  which explains the system design.

  • ABC analysis

    Hi,
for the client we have customized the ABC analysis report which shoes the material details and its status for the last 5 years, with last purchase and sales date.
Some materials are not been caught in this report. What may be the reason for this?.
    Regards

the ABC indicator in material master should be the result of the analysis, but not a precondition.
MC40 is a usage based analysis.
do you have consumpion movements in MB51 for that material?
Is it a material like any others that show up in your report? or is it something special like non-valuated, or consignment or PIPElline, or always procured to a project...?
What tables are  the basis for your report?

  • ABC Analysis report

    Hii all,
i am using MC40 and MIBC for  ABC Analysis report.
few materials, we are using very frequently, even in report its showing ZERO as a total value n total stock value.
please suggest me, why this report is coming wrong for few materials.
    Thanks
    nisha

I think you are mixing a couple things here and loosing the focus for your initial problem,
OMJJ settings of movement types are general settings. I really wonder why you have different values there in standard movements 101 and 201 than  the the predefined values given by SAP. I never had to change that in the systems I have worked with.
a 101 is by design a planned movement (unplanned receipts are made with 501) hence the consumption control has a G  to control the consumption update (which a tab in additional data of material master). G means always update planned consumption.
But this is only done if the movement is made agains an order with account assignment, otherwise it will post to stock (which is not a consumption)
The second consumption indicator in OMJJ  folder "update control" defines to which consumption account the posting is made. the 101 movement takes the decision from the account assignment category, hence you find an indicator for each accounting type there.
a 201 movement is by design a consumption movement. the general consumption is set to R, which decides that it posts to planned consumption in case you reference a reservation, or to unplanned consumption in all other cases.
you always consume from stock  and you enter manually account and cost center, so there is no need to for a consumption by account assignment. (which you dont have in case of 201, as you dont do a 201 in reference to a purchase order)
you did nowhere explain the movements that you had for the materials that did not show up in the ABC analysis.
you did not explain what selection you made, by default it looks just at the last 90 days. Are  you certain that you had consumption postings in MB51 in that period?

  • Answers: Multiple sorts for different rsum (multiple ABC-Analysis in one)

    Hello
I want to do an ABC-Analysis i.e. on my ProducLines. I am doing it by using something like:
    CASE WHEN
    RSUM(Sales / SUM(Sales by) * 100) < 75 then 'A'
    WHEN ... THEN 'B'
    ELSE 'C'
    END
This works fine so far but I need to take the column "Sales" into my request and order the request on that. (to get the "big ones" at the beginning)
Details on this can be found here: http://blog.trivadis.com/blogs/andreasnobbmann/archive/2009/09/18/abc-analysis-in-obiee.aspx
    My Problem now:
I would like to do this ABC-Analysis Sales and SalesPreviousMonth and SalesYTD all three in one and the same request.
I did not find out how I can do different "order by" for my three different Formula-columns. I tried with UNION ALL but did not really get it until now (only the final result can be sorted, but I would need sort column in the subrequests to get correct A,B,C-Values).
Did anyone already have a similar requirement? How did you solve it?
    Thanks for any hints.

  • Adjustment / ABC analysis

    Hi Gurus
Can you anyone gimme a details of ABC analysis?? Is there any chance to change in the class automatically?(Ex A to B), In regualr scenarious how the industries are using and handling???
    Please gimme some ideas
    SP

    hi SP,
ABC analysis is done to classify characteristic values in order of importance for particular key figures. This divides the material into
    >highly important
    >low important &
    >less important
ABC analysis can be used in various ways like
    > MM- classify materials according to the key figure usage value.
    >PP-classify work centers in terms of the key figure scrap quantityu2019.
    >PUR- classify vendors in terms of the key figure invoiced amount
There are following strategies used for performing the ABC Analysis
    >Total key figure in %
here u define the cut offs in terms of values of char i.e >
                                              >70% in class A,
                                              >20% in class B
                                              >10% in class C
so the 1st characteristic values which make up 70% are in A
next char values which make upto 90% (20%) are in B
and the rest char values which make 100%(rest 10%) are in C
    >Number of characteristic values in %
here u define the cut off in terms of number of char i.e>
                                                 >10% in class A
                                                 >30% in class B
                                                 >60% in class C
so in class A the 1st 10% of highest char come, next 30% of char come in class B and the rest come in classC
    >Key figure (absolute)
here u fix the limit straight away like
char values higher than 10 lac come in class A
char values <10lac but >5 lac come in class B
char values <5lac come in class C
    >Number of characteristic values
here u deifine the number of char that u want to put in class A,B&C.
    like 1st 25 in A,next 40 in B & rest in C.
so while creating the ABC analysis u'll get these 4 strategies from where u can choose based on the requirement.
    hope this is clear
    regards,

  • MC40 calculation of ABC analysis / part

    Experts,
can you explain the logic behind a Usage.Based ABC Analysis MC40 . In case I choose Usage value (in %).
    A= 70
    B= 20
    C= 10
    Thanks in advance
    Jörg

    Hi Jorg,
It's simple. The system will rank all the materials according to the consumption (usage) value (quantity*price). Then those materials with the highest value (70%) will be ranked A, and so on.
