Abort the current sequence file

Hi,
I have a main sequence file (with a number of test cases) calling another 2nd sequence file.  I like to abort from my 2nd sequence file if a paremeter returned is certain value (e.g. parameter.result == "1") from TestComplete.  What command can I use?
Also once the 2nd sequence file aborts, I need the main sequence file to continue on the next step.
Thanks!

The easiest way is to use the Post Action in the Step to Terminate.
But I dont think you want to do that because you still want the caller sequence to run. Therefore use the Post Action of the Step to goto to CleanUp. This will then skip the remaining steps in the Main, run any steps you have in the Cleanup and return back to the Caller Sequence which continue running onto the next step.

  • Programmatically close the current sequence's window

Is there a way to programmatically close the current sequence’s window in order to reload it if it was modified or to load another sequence (programmatically)?

Do you want to close it from the UI?  Because I don't think you can do it from the Seq. Editor????
    From TestStand Help:
    CloseSequenceFile Method
    Syntax
    ApplicationMgr.CloseSequenceFile ( file)
    Return Value
    Boolean
Returns whether the sequence file was successfully closed.
    Purpose
    Closes a sequence file.
    Remarks
The Application Manager control attempts to close the sequence file by generating a QueryCloseSequenceFile event. The QueryCloseSequenceFile event confirms whether to release the file and remove the file from the SequenceFiles collection. If the sequence file is running in an execution or if other references to the sequence file exist, TestStand does not immediately unload the file from memory.
    Parameters
    file As SequenceFile
[In] Specifies the sequence file to close.
    OpenSequenceFile Method
    Syntax
    ApplicationMgr.OpenSequenceFile ( sequenceFilePath)
    Return Value
    SequenceFile
Returns the opened sequence file, if successful. If a type conflict occurs when loading the file and the conflict prevents TestStand from opening the file, this method returns NULL. If an error occurs while opening the file, this method throws an exception.
    Purpose
    Opens a sequence file.
    Remarks
This method adds the sequence file to the SequenceFiles collection and generates the SequenceFileOpened and DisplaySequenceFile events.
    Parameters
    sequenceFilePath As String
[In] Specifies the path of the sequence file to load. If you do not pass an absolute path, this method searches for the file using the TestStand search paths.
    Hope that helps,

  • How to not append '.PART' to the file name of the currently downloading file, and just download the file with its normal filename

In Windows, when Firefox (I'm currently using 7.0) downloads a file, it appends ''.PART'' to the file name of the currently downloading file and just renames it to its original file name after it finishes downloading.
I sometimes like to watch a currently downloading video file, so it will be better if Firefox just downloads the file to its actual filename (like what Opera does), so I can easily double click the incompletely downloaded file and watch it with the video player assigned to that file extension, rather than the awkward ''Right click -> Open With -> Choose Default Program'' route with .part files.
Does anyone know how to set Firefox to do this?

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox and prevents Firefox from renaming the .part file.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

  • Export Limits for Multiple Sequences in the Same Sequence File for TS3.0

    Hi,
I am using TestStand 3.0 to a test application. Because we want to have our limits in a csv-file I have tried to use the Import/Export tools in TS. But this application only supports to export limits for the selected sequence (e.g. main, or subseq1) at a time. This makes it a pretty hard job to export limits from 30 test sequences. What I need is a possibility to export my limits from all sequences in my seq-file.
I have found an article on NI Dev. Zone about Export Limits for Multiple Sequences in the Same Sequence File (TestStand 1.0.x).
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.DISPLAY_EPD4?p_guid=B45EACE3D9CB56A4E034080020E74861&p_node=DZ52236&p_submitted=N&p_rank=&p_answer=&p_sourc
    e=External
I have tried to use this code but because its for TS 1.0.2 the limits from my multi num test step and my custom steptypes isnt exported. So that doesnt fulfill my needs.
Is there an updated version with all sequences added to TS 3.0? Is there other good solutions to my problem out there?

    Hi David Mc,
Thanks for your reply. I have already considered this solution because the source code is added in the folder described in your reply. But that is not a good solution. It will cost me a lot of time to establish the toolchain, reverse engineer the source code, make the implementations and build a new dll (most off these is already knowledge by NI). And when NI make future releases of TestStand I have some merge work to do every time NI have made some changes in the files I have changed.
But as I write above: I have hoped that NI already has/or could made a solution like the one to 1.0.2 (see link in root) to me. And then they could include it in the next version.
I don't think I am the only one in the TestStand world that ne
    ed this feature.

  • File system task - Move file issue, skip the current log file thats open by another process - IIS logs

    Hi,
I have created a package to move IIS log files from their source directory to another directory called processing. However, when the package tries to move the current log file it errors because the file is in use by another process (by IIS as its still writing
to it). I would like the package to just ignore the "in-use" file and process the rest and show the package completing successfully. The file in use will be rolled by IIS at midnight and the file will be picked up by the next package run.
However, when the file is rolled and becomes free a new log file is created which will be marked as "in-use"...... which should be ignored at the next run.
Is there some way that I can tell the file system task to ignore in use files or add an event handler to do the same sort of thing?
    Any assistance is appreciated

    Hi Arthur,
    Thank you for your reply.
I have resolved the issue with the following example:
    http://www.timmitchell.net/post/2010/08/23/ssis-conditional-file-processing-in-a-foreach-loop/
What I realised was that I needed to just ignore the current log file which gets created daily, so using the above example (and changing the last written date to created date) I am able to ignore/skip the log thats in use.

  • Rename the current active file?

I'm wanting a script to be able to rename open Photoshop files, if possible.
I cobbled this together from an existing script:
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"
      activate
set old_name to name of current document
set dialog_result to display dialog ¬
"Rename active document:" default answer (old_name) ¬
                        buttons {"Cancel", "Rename"} default button 2 ¬
      with icon note
if button returned of dialog_result = "Rename" then
set new_name to text returned of dialog_result
set d to properties of current document
if path of d is equal to missing value then
set name of current document to new_name
                        else
tell me to set the_file to POSIX file (d's path as text) as alias
                                  tell application "Finder"
set name of the_file to new_name
                                  end tell
                        end if
              end if
    end tell
If I run it it shows the dialogue window, but when I enter the new name and hit Return it throws out lots of errors.
    Is something like this possible?

As Chris wrote Photoshop is not a File Editor. Photoshop edits Photoshop Documents the current Document may or may not have a file on the system created fron the active document.  If if does have a file assocatation I sure with scripting you can perform file operations on the file  like delete, rename, move etc.  However the will not change the active document name. Basicly document name is read only.... well sort of read only for if the current document does not have a file assocation and you save it into you file system The docoument becomes assocated with a file and Photoshop will change the active document name.  Aslo when you open a RAW file through ACR the inage image window or tab may show something like imagename.cr2 there is not actually a file associated with the document for Photoshop can not save a Camera RAW file so if you save it as PSD or TiFF the window or tab will now show the file assocation imagename.psd|tif  not .cr2. The document name does not always change with a save for if you save the PSD as a jpeg after the jpeg images is saved the document reverts back to its layered and color depth state  and is still imagename.psd.  There is no active document associated with that saved jpeg file. You can open it and have two document open that look the same one being layered a and perhaps 16bit and the other flat and 8bit.

  • Can I open the (.squ) sequence files using NI test stand 4.0 version?

I have the sequence files created using ATETool Kit test Executive. But I have NI 4.0 test stand. I want to open the sequence files using NI 4.0 test stand. Can i do that?

    Hi,
I am not familiar with ATETool kit Test Executive, but I doubt NI TestStand will open this. As you have both, have you tried it?
TestStand does have a conversion tool for converting NI TestExecutive sequence files into TestStand sequence files.
Maybe you could write a conversion tool to make the conversion for you if you have many ATETool kit Test Executive files.

  • What is the best method for saving the client sequence file revision in the database \ report?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to store the sequence file Revision in the database. That is, if I have the Revision (SequenceFile.AsPropertyObjectFile.Version), where (e.g. what table / field) should I put it if I'm using the SQL Server schema that ships with TestStand?  How do I get it there?

    Ok LabBEAN,
Here is my tutorial.  It is actually easier than I thought:
Step 1: Configure>>Database Options and uncheck the Disable Database Logging.
Step 2: Click the Data Link tab
Step 3: Make sure the Connection String Expression is pointing to the right location.  Should be a public directory with a .mdb file if you are using TestStand defaults.  Click the View Data button to verify.  It should open the Database Viewer so you can look at the tables.  Leave the Database Viewer open.
Step 4: Click the Schemas tab
Step 5: With the Generic Recordset (NI) selected click the Duplicate button.
Step 6: You should now see a copy of that schema.  In the Name box name it MyRecordset and make sure it is checked
Step 7: Click the Statements tab and highlight STEP_SEQCALL.  NOTE: you must always do this before clicking on the Columns/Parameters tab
Step 8: Click the Columns/Parameters tab
Step 9: Highlight the SEQUENCE_FILE_PATH item and click the Copy Button
Step 10:  Highlight the new entry and change the Name to SEQUENCE_FILE_VERSION
Step 11: MOST CRITICAL STEP: Change the Expression to RunState.Engine.GetSequenceFileEx(Logging.StepResult.TS.SequenceCall.SequenceFile, 107, ConflictHandler_Error).AsPropertyObjectFile.Version  It is better to do it this way because you never now where a sequence file call will be made and not all sequence calls are made to the model client sequence.
Step 12: Hopefully you left the Database Viewer open from Step 3. Go to it.
Step 13: Right click the STEP_SEQCALL and select Add Column..  Name the new column: SEQUENCE_FILE_VERSION.  Basically you need a column that matches the one you created back in the Columns/Parameters tab.  Set it up with the same type and size.  NOTE: there is an alternate way to do this using the Execute SQL View in the Database Options but you need to create it.  You can create it from the Schemas tab back in TS by clicking the Build .sql File.. button.
Step 14: Back in TestStand click OK to save and close the Database Options.
Now run your sequence and you will see the new data in your database.

  • Display the Current Running Files in the Label Control

I have a label control in Windows Form Application, and i have the application to display the building and progress of the projects in the label control using C# code. Along with the update of the label, the progress bar should also show progress simultaneously,
according to the building of the project. How should i do this ??
    Thanks.

    Hello All;
I want to know how can i display the current running project in the label control along side the same, i want to  display the progress of the files that are build successfully through a progress bar.
What i need to do is when i click the button named as "Build" in the GUI it will display the selected projects to build from the CheckedListbox into the label control placed in the GUI.
Please, provide me some hint regarding the same.
    Thanks.
    Tanmay
    Hello,
It depends on what your application is and how you build these files, if possible you could share them with us.
The most common way to display the progress, is to set the text for that label before or after we execute the line building these files.
You could place the lines setting the text or change the progressbar.value before or after the building lines.
Here is a simple sample using progressbar with a backgroundworker.

  • How to load programmatically from CVI the specific sequence file in TestStand 3.1

I am trying to implement TestStand from Windows/CVI 3.1. I need to insert a specific sequence file in TestStand, with all other sequences unloaded. I used TSUI_ApplicationMgrCloseAllSequenceFiles() and TSUI_ApplicationMgrOpenSequenceFile(), but after Username/Password prompt, the TestStand loaded all the old sequences. How to eliminate this?

    Hello,
I created a function that calls those two methods. When I made a simple CVI button and in a callback for it, I call my function, it does successfully close all open sequencefiles and then load the one I specified; however, it does not work when I call the function just before the call to RunUserInterface! I am very surprised by this and will be bringing it up with our R&D department. There is a simple work-around. Instead of closing all open sequencefiles at the beginning of the OI, close them at the end instead. I have modified the full-featured OI for you and tagged in the code where I made changes. This should do exactly what you want (you may want to change the code around to make it a little cleaner...I left more in code in than I needed for instructive purposes). Please let me know if you have any questions about this. Take care!

  • Inconsistent behavior in TestStand and TestStand UI for the same sequence file

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I tried both the TopLevelVI and testexec.exe; but both of them were giving the same error. I never tried any other UI than Labview.
Because the same sequence was working without any issue on some other system, I uninstalled and reinstalled TestStand 4.0 and same sequence is now working fine, in TestStand, testexec.exe, TopLevelVI – basically everywhere. I am not sure what was wrong with TestStand in my system, but definitely something wasn’t correct.
Thank you for all the responses.

    Hi everybody,
Just wanna know if it's possible to get the comment from the sub sequence like we can get the name using RunState.Sequence ?
my test Name is the sub sequence name and the number associated is placed in the comment, that way I'm generating data to database autmatically.

    Hi Pierre,
you can use "RunState.Sequence.AsPropertyObject.Comment" to get the comment of your SubSequence.
    Hope that helps.
