About C3850 Wireless Multicast issue

Hello
i'm testing for catalyst 3850 wireless multicast, and i've tried several configurations but it's always fault. I took a pc with the wired as the multicast video source, and another pc as the receiver with wireless, the two pc in the same vlan, for example, vlan 10.  the followed is the detail configuration about 3850.

  • Dear Steve, will anything be done about this wireless connectivity issue?

    This is no fun whatsoever....

People, help me in refining this list - did I leave something out?
P.S. I was thinking lately, why, after spending so much money, should I spend several days already, in agregate, trying to understand the issue and how it should be resolved? Have I not paid for not having such problems?

    Here is a lot more:
    http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/wirelessnetworking/topic4035.html
Highly interesting is the post of J.Exby which i reproduce here:
For months I've not been alone in holding to the notion that the airport client software on Mac OS X 10.4.x has been problematic and unstable in certain (noisy, crowded, channel overlapped) wireless environments. Issues littered around the Internet Mac forums include problems of networks appearing, then disappearing. This is a difficult problem to pin down, given the difficulty of reproducing the conditions that might cause wireless network dropouts.
A major symptom of the problem was seeing the constant messages of:
"An error occurred joining the AirPort network" (Try Again) (Cancel)
when attempting to connect to a wireless network, despite that network being seen, having correct security settings, etc.
Various temporary fixes/ideas floated around the mac community have included:
    - reseting pram, nvram and PMU
    - installing 10.4 from scratch, instead of 10.3 to 10.4 upgrade process
    - Repairing permissions, run Combo updaters, etc
    - putting system to sleep or reboot for temporary connection fix
    - applying AirPort 2005-001 patch (or not)
    - upgrading (or downgrading!) AirPort basestation firmware
    - changing AirPort channels
    - enabled (or disabling) Interference Robustness
    - disabling Bluetooth and BT peripherals
    - removing WEP/WPA passwords out of Keychain
    - running Keychain First Aid on user/login keychains
    - buying new AirPort extreme cards
    - replacing AirPort base stations with other vendor hardware, etc.
With the stability of our Windows XP clients now (after driver updates) and the change from Apple base stations to Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router having no appreciable benefit for our Mac notebooks, the OS X AirPort client software suspicions only grew.
    During troubleshooting I always have
    Applications--->Utilities--->Console
    and
    iStumbler (96)
running, and I watch output as wireless scans are performed.
From the Terminal I also run:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport -s
    and usually see constant
    AirPortScanner WirelessScan error -2013261821 airpInternalErr
    messages.
After two days of testing (and fixing?) I am even more convinced there are bugs in the powerpc 10.4.x AirPort Extreme Framework!
    This is what I found:
    Environment at our office:
    - wireless Network A (802.11g channel 1, WPA personal)
    - wireless Network B (802.11b channel 6, WEP 40bit ascii)
    - wireless Network C (802.11g channel 11, WPA personal)
(WAR-marching around our office exterior shows at least 12 outside wireless networks found at various signal strengths!)
    Test systems used:
    - iBook G4 (10.3.x and 10.4.5)
    - Powerbook G4 (10.4.5)
    - Intel iMac (10.4.5)
Primary symptom on iBook: networks not displaying long enough under the AirPort icon/menu (or Internet Connect) to connect to ANY network reliably! Perhaps connect to Network A intermittently, never even see Network C.
iStumbler showing some networks respond to poll, then immediately stagnate/disappear.
Primary symptom on Powerbook: stable connections to Network C most times, difficulty "switching" to Network B or A once moving closer to source. Usually stable "seeing" networks via AirPort menu icon, but still have occasional dropouts (due to fluctuating signal strength or interference?).
Primary symptom on Intel iMac: NO PROBLEMS! Can connect to (and steadily "see") all valid Networks A, B, C !
iStumbler constantly polls all available networks, with no dropouts.
    Steps taken:
    1. Wipe iBook hard drive, install 10.3 from dvd. AirPort signals unreliable.
1a. Perform all 10.3.x Software updates, Repair Permissions, reboot. AirPort still unreliable.
    2. Reset PRAM, nvram, PMU. no improvements.
    3. Reseat AirPort Extreme card, ensure antenna is firmly plugged in. AirPort still unreliable.
    4. Wipe iBook, install 10.4.3 "fresh" from Full retail version DVD. AirPort still unreliable.
4a. Perform all 10.4.5 Software (combo) updates, Repair Permissions, reboot. AirPort still unreliable.
    5. Hold down the Option key, and click on the AirPort icon in the menu bar.
    select About AirPort...
pay particular attention to each system showing:
    iBook: AirPort Framework 421.13.0
    powerbook: AirPort Framework 421.13.0
    intel iMac: AirPort Framework 426.1.0
Aha! A big difference with the AirPort Framework component version on the Intel iMac!
    6. So, using the Terminal let's get this newer Apple80211.framework onto the iBook.
    First on the intel iMac:
    cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
    sudo tar cf ~/intelApple80211frame.tar Apple80211.framework
Copy this intelApple80211frame.tar file onto a USB thumb drive, CDR, iPod, scp, etc. to copy it onto the iBook (home directory).
    7. With the tar file copied into the home area on the iBook, turn off iBook's AirPort via the menubar icon.
    Now launch Terminal and:
    mkdir backup-framework
    cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
    sudo mv Apple80211.framework ~/backup-framework/
    sudo tar xvpf ~/intelApple80211frame.tar
Launch Disk Utility, Repair Permissions on boot drive.
    Reboot iBook.
    8. Turn Airport on via the menubar icon.
iBook now has HUGE improvements in wireless connectivity! It can "see" all Networks A, B, C reliably and can connect to any of them when in range (having enough signal strength). Switching between networks is successful 90% of the time. Occasional message of:
"An error occurred joining the AirPort network (Try Again) (Cancel)"
usually works after clicking (Try Again), whereas before Try Again almost always failed.
I am unsure how this newer Apple80211.framework will affect future Software Updates on the iBook, but frankly I could care less now that it's able to access all of our wireless networks!
I am unsure if this is the magic-bullet solution for a majority of people, but I'm stunned that Apple appears to be providing new and improved Apple80211.framework software with the intel iMacs, but many of us have been fighting AirPort problems on PowerPC platforms for months!
Come on Apple, OS X 10.4.5 should contain the SAME software component versions for ALL CPU platforms!

  • Pressing Question about my wireless performance. Yes ... everyone has one! ":-\

Is there any reliable and typical answer that could satisfy me about this layman test I performed?
My neighbor across the street has the same Verizon DSL speed I have. He recently acquired his service with a new modem.
My service and modem are about 7 years old.
I can connect, with his permission, to his Wi-Fi service, which is about 150 or more feet away in another house yet.
I can connect with my wireless with my Wi-Fi service with the router right next to the pc
Using the test which they claim is very accurate at  http://www.auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp
I get no better speeds with my service, just a couple of feet away than with his at 150 plus feet. Connected to his wireless even my pc connected with the network cord, the speeds are very compareable.
I asked Verizon if it could be my modem was 7 years old. They said no, their tests showed I was getting what I should be. How is it that his wi-fi is so strong I can get speeds comparable to mine just 3 feet away?
Is there any reasonable explanation, and should I press them for something .... I don't know what?  I think as long as they say I am getting what I should they won't take action. Even though the speeds are comparable when I connect to neighbors everything is more fluid, quick. On mine when I am trying to follow links or even in such as Facebook, which I guess has to update via the wi-fi when scrolling etc, for more data it is choppy and lags. When connected to his it's more fluid.
Any help here? Thanks for taking the time to read.  jack

First question is how do you know your neighbor has the same speed you do. Have you compared transceiver statistics?
Verizon prices DSL service in tiers, basically anything between 1 and 3 mbps is considered to be 3Mbps, and anything from 3-7mbps is 7mbps. So unless you have compared transceiver statistics, you don't know if your neighbor really has the same DSL speed you do or not. So while you might be a 1.5mbps, he might be at 3 mbps, but you would both be in the 3mbps tier.
Having said that, and assuming you really both have the same underlying speed, you get down the issues with wireless in general. The problem with 802.11b/g service is the band that it operates in is shared by a veritable laundry list of devices including remote controls, cordless telephones, and other wireless devices. There are essentially 3 channels available for 802.11b/g, 1, 6 and 11. Depending upon the exact circumstances, some channel choices are going to be much better than others. You can change the selection from automatic to specific channels by logging into your router, and access the wireless menu.
Ultimately the performance of your wireless is driven by the signal to noise ratio. The higher it is, the faster the connection. Other users of the band where 802.11b/g operate generally look like noise, and reduce the signal to noise ratio, and the effective speed of the connection. The unpleasant reality is there are more things that can interfere with 802.11b/g service than you can shake a stick at, and that's why Verizon will say nothing and do nothing about a wireless service from their routers. There are simply too many variables that are beyond their control.
Bottom line is that you can try other channels for your wireless and see if it makes a difference. Ultimately if you want better performance, you probably need to go to a dual band  802.11n wireless access point (assuming your  device has a card capable of 802.11n dual band operation). The 5 GHz band where 802.11n can also operate has more 'real estate' than the 2.4GHz band, and at the moment, substantially fewer applications. So the odds on a higher sustainable rate with 802.11n dual band service are better.

  • Is there a fix for the MBP wireless dropping issue?

I began to experience the Macbook Pro dropping wireless connectivity on my very 1st Apple in 2008.  At the end of the day my machine was replaced with a new Macbook Pro mid 2010.  It appeared to be working just fine until about 2-3 months ago when I started dropping my wireless printer connection.  I searched the internet hoping for a driver update from HP or something from Apple and each time I found something, the problem still existed.  I even thought that by upgrading to Lion would resolve any issues that I have with my MBP wireless connectivity issue.  After upgrading to buying a new router, new printer and upgrading to Lion; the wireless dropping issue still remains unresolved!  I know there are several hundred in not thousands of people who are having the same problem so what are we supposed to do?
When my 1st MBP was replaced in 2010 I had to stop working because I was diagnosed with "Failed Back Surgical Syndrome" and was in the process of applying for disability.  Something in the back of my mind said that I needed to purchase Apple Care for this new replacement however I had used all of my savings & retirement to sustain life for me and my family that there was nothing for Apple Care.  If it weren't for my church and family I am not sure what I would do during the 18 months of no income while waiting for a decision only to receive an appeal until I findly stood in front of an Administrative Law Judge who heard my case and granted me disability.  Besides there was no way I could ask anyone for money to purchase a warranty for a top of the line laptop while the country was falling off an economical cliff.
I broke down and called Apple Support and was told that I qualified for technical assistance regarding the upgrade to Lion a few weeks ago.  The tech on the phone had me run some disk utility tests and had me repair permissions which she said could be the cause of the problem.  I willingly went along with her in hopes that this was indeed the fix.  However, within 10 minutes of hanging up the phone my MBP began to drop it's wireless connection to my new HP printer and also the Internet.  Hence my question above is what I am really looking to have answered!  What is the fix to this problem that so many people are having issues with?  I couldn't afford to purchase Apple Care back in 2010 and I can't afford to purchase a new 2011 machine today if that truly is the fix!
I will be disabled for the remainder of my life and I have grown dependent upon my computer to stay in touch with friends and colleges from work.  I worked for the IT Group at Wynn Resorts and I can say that the type of service Appple is providing it's customers is not what I learned over the past 25 years with Mr. Wynn.  Why can't Apple get the simple concept that it's customers are it's life line and keeps them in business.  I need help and I don't know what to do nor where to turn.  It would be different if Apple acknowledged the issue and said they were working on it however they aren't.  I plead to Apple to help me fix my notebook so I can stay connected to the outside world vs. couped up inside my home.
    Best Regards,
    Scott Leavitt

I am simply lookig for some help not an argument.  I am not an RF specialist however have setup a few wireless networks in my tenure at Wynn Resorts.  I fully agree that wireless networking is an art and a science however the powers that be in Network Land have toughted wireless networking is the easiest and quickest way to get two computers to talk with one another.  As I previously said I have already turned one (1) MBP in for this problem and Apple decided to replace it because they could not fix the problem with my particular MBP.  This MBP was running Leopard when the problems started
I am having a hard time believeing that there are several other devicces in my home that depend on a wireless network to operate and my MBP is the only one having an issue.  I took this a step further and decided to see what would happen if I tried to connect wirelessly via Fusion.  In Windows 7 I am able to print and scan to my hearts content without any issues.  I am able to browse the internet as much as I want.  I close Fusion and try to connect to my printer via wireless and nothing.
In order to get Apple to help do I need to get a Network Analyzer and capture packets when I have these problems?  Out of the 1000 + posts is there a consolidation of which answer is the best?  BTW I am accessing the internet via a wireless connection using Fusion and Windows 7.
In response to Linc's comments, I will look at the router specifications however I did not qualify that these devices are not using the wireless connection at the same time.  Right now I would guess there are maybe two (2) or three (3) at the most that are actively transmitting / receiving information. --  Thanks

  • Pavilion wireless keyboard issues

I have just bought a new Pavilion 500-250ea desktop + Pavilion 22xi monitor. Nice hardware, shame about having to have Windows 8.1 though :-)
The desktop shipped with a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard (Part No 697345-031). I've spent the last couple of days with all the kit on the desk, setting everything up and transferring all my files etc. All going nicely until I got to the stage where I was able to take my old machine away and put the new one in the space UNDER the desk (wooden top). Now the mouse is erratic and the keyboard often just 'hangs' for a while. Surely the wireless range ought to be better than that and not bothered simply by an intervening desk???? Or is 'deskTOP' meant to be taken literally.....
Also, the keyboard has NO CapsLock or NumLock lights !!! This plays havoc when trying to enter passwords :-( Is there any utility perhaps to display the CapsLock and/or NumLock status on the screen??

    Hello Nemo2000,
I have read your post on how your desktop is experiencing erratic control of the wireless keyboard and the mouse with the desktop hidden away, and I would be happy to assist you!
To begin, I recommend moving the desktop to a more open area to test for spacial interference. To expand on this, I suggest following this document on Wireless Printing Common Questions. Under "Wireless Connection Issues" please select "How do I improve a weak signal from my wireless router?" on obstructions.
In regards to the caps and num lock keys, I understand there are no indication lights in the top right-hand corner. On most programs, however, you will be given an indication that the cap locks are on for passwords. A good example of this is when you log onto your computer, it will tell you if the caps lock is on or not.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • ATV2 OFFICIALLY rolled back to 4.2.1 due to wireless N issues

My ATV prompted me to update it an hr ago, I did, and when it came back up, 4.3 was gone and 4.2.1 was there.. I plugged it into itunes and it said it was up to date... I called apple support and they verified that JUST the ATV2 has been rolled back due to Wireless N and other wireless compatability issues.

    TallBearNC wrote:
I had 4.3 on my ATV for weeks. it even said 4.3 in the about screen. You do not know what YOU are talking about.
Once my ATV went to 4.3 a few weeks ago, it could no longer connect to my N network until I turned WMM on, and even then it kept dropped off. So I had to switch my router back to A/G mode.
Yes, there WAS.. and if you don't belive me, ill be HAPPY to show you the ATV2 4.3 IPSW I've had sitting on my desktop for weeks
You are wrong. Take my advice and stop now before you embarrass yourself.

  • I am having wireless connectivity issues with my time capsule

Over the last 3 days my wireless devices have been having issues with connectivity.
    Network setup:
Modem - Motorola SB5102 Cable Modem
1 TB Time Capsule 802.11n (second generation)
The devices are approximately 3 feet apart.
    Wired Device:
Mac Pro (2008 build) running OSX 10.6.8, Airport Utility 5.6.1
    Wireless Devices:
    Playstation 3
    Macbook Air
    iPhone 5c
    iPhone 4
I am having issues with internet connectivity. The wireless signal strength is fine as all devices can find the network. However when connected to the network accessing the internet on the Macbook Air, or either iPhone is slow and streaming services such as Netflix cannot connect. I have intermitant connectivity to the Playstation Network on the PS3.
I have wired both the Macbook Air and PS3 directly to the Time Capsule and have no issues, internet is accessible and streaming services are fine.
I have power cycled all the devices (Time Capsule, macbook, iphones, PS3, modem) to no result.
I am looking for any other suggestions that may help me with my wireless connectivity issue.

A Gen2 TC is probably on its last gasp.. and it is well overdue for replacement.
If you want to get more life out of it you normally need to repair or replace the internal power supply.. This is not done by apple or any of their repair centres.
Just do ebay search and you will find sellers with replacement supplies.
Otherwise to test, do a full factory reset..
I would also downgrade the firmware.. 7.5.2 will work just as well for you and has less bugs than 7.6.x firmware.
To downgrade hold down the option key when you select firmware version.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • Is there a phone number I can call to talk to a live person about help with Lightroom issues ?

Is there a phone number I can call to talk to a live person about help with Lightroom issues ?

well the reason I wanted to talk to someone live because it would take forever to explain everything on here But anyway, here goes. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with Intel Core i5-323om CPU @2.60 GHz and 8 gb ram 64bit. I am trying to run Lightroom 5.7 on my laptop and having major issues. I use an external hard drive for the storage of my photos. When I try to use Lightroom I run into many issues: Flickering of the screen, freezing up, slow, the loading circle just goes round and round lol. If I go to the washroom or leave the computer for even a minute it freezes up. I have to keep pressing Ctr/alt/delete to bring it back when it flickers. I have to constantly exit out of the program and restart it to be able to edit even just a couple of photos and then it starts acting up again.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing, updating everything on my pc, changing compatibility settings, updating development settings, I even took the laptop into have it looked at and they did all kinds of updates etc...and still couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. I have gone through the lists of troubleshooting for LR problems and there just seem to be nothing that works.....I have made new catalogues, moved them, tried using the software on my pc without the EHD, etc etc.......I have tried EVERYTHING...I think.....so I was looking for some answers as to why this is happening....

  • Wireless connecion issues using a macbook

    Hi,
RE: Wireless connecion issues using a macbook
After doing some google searches, I have come to understand that there is a bug with OSX power management when running on battery which impacts the wireless connection of the macbook, though Apple geniuses are unaware of any such issue. Please see: http://kristopherjohnson.blogspot.com/2006/08/macbook-wireless-connection-drops. html and type in "macbook wireless connection problems" in google for many other discussions on this issue.
For all those who are having wireless connection issues with a macbook:
Plug in the macbook to use mains power (not the battery) to verify that you are impacted by the same bug (I even find sometime unable to connect to the router when on battery so have resorted to starting the machine with mains power plugged in). If that is the problem then here is a work around (taken from above blog):
Open the terminal window and type in the following command: ping -i 5 google.com
(this will ping the google domain every 5 seconds and maintain the wireless activity thus a connection).
I am surprised that Apple are not acknowledging this well known and widely reported bug and fixing the issue. In my case, I dont mind plugging the machine into mains most of the time and that has resolved the problem, otherwise I hope the above pinging works for you.
I discovered the workaround after ditching my old DLink router (though it had done its time) and buying an Airport extreme (£120), a trip to the Apple store (40 miles drive), trying several different people's machine on my network (frustration) and finally google to rescue, more specifically Kristopher Johnson's blog.
NOTE: My macbook worked fine in the Apple store while on battery power which was frustrating but apparently the problem only arises when connecting to consumer grade networks and not commercial ones, which I dont understand technically.

you can use but you will not get full screen on HDMI output.
Sometimes width or height of the screen was not completely used by ur mac other then that everything would be good.
You need to buy HDMI Output cable for mac something like this

  • HT1918 is there a way to talk to someone in person about a credit card issue?

I've been trying for a couple of hours to reach someone about a credit care issue.  I've been sent to numerous web sites and many phones number thru the apple.com/support/itunes site.  I do not see any way to solve my problem with my card.

You can contact iTunes Support via email via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • WRT54G V3.0 Wireless Speed Issue - ping example

    Hello:
I have been having very odd wireless connectivity issues with my router. The issue happens randomly, and from what I can tell, it is not based on interference.
Basically my wireless connection always stalls. Sometimes it quits all together. I get the exact same result weather I am one foot or twenty feet away from the router.
This can clearly be displayed by pinging my device:
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=1.830 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=1.076 ms

    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=1.140 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=1.100 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=7 ttl=64 time=1583.515 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=8 ttl=64 time=584.304 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=9 ttl=64 time=1.027 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=10 ttl=64 time=1.917 ms

    64 bytes from 10.0.1.1: icmp_seq=16 ttl=64 time=1.050 ms
(it should be noted that if i plug directly into the router via ethernet I get perfect pings / no stalls like above)
My current Firmware Version is: v4.30.5
Here is what I've tried changing/testing and had the exact same results with:
-Tried every wireless channel- and i've tried wireless G only.
-Reset back to the default firmware/flashed the device/reinstalled everything etc etc- many times
    -disabled any wireless security
-turned off all bluetooth devices, wireless phones or cordless phones in the area (no microwaves are running).
If i use another wireless router (i borrowed my AP from work one night), it works perfectly, no issues. This is why I think it may be a hardware issue with my router. (There are other wireless routers in the area, but my testing router from work is just fine with the others).
Is it possible I have a hardware issue with this WRT54G?
If not, what other things can i try?
Thank you for any help you may have.
    Happy New Year!

  • Iphone/IOS 6 and Enterprise Wireless Networks Issue

    Hi there,
Our company runs Cisco wireless using WPA2 Enterprise and AD Authentication. Now we currently have multiple vendor phones/laptops working fine including Apple Macbook Pro's, Apple Iphone 4s, Samsung Galaxy S2/S3 working on the wireless without issue.
However Ive been seeing issues with Iphone 5s and an Ipad now as well running IOS 6 where it just wont connect to the network. I am using Iphone configuration utility to install a Wireless profile with the certificate/AD credentials onto the Apple device.
I just loaded the profile on an Iphone 5 and it worked straight away.
However on ipad and other iphone 5's this is what happened, it associated to the Wireless but never got an IP address so never finishes connecting. just sits on spinning wheel.
Here is some output from the Iphone configuration utility console:

  • T61 Wireless Connectivity Issue - can not connect with secure wireless sites

I have a T61 using Windows XP. The internal wireless card was factory installed and has not been upgraded.
My home Internet is Comcast high-speed.
When I take my laptop to a coffee shop, business or other location with a secure wireless network that requires a password, I have not been able to log on. I can see the wireless networks available and can click on the appropriate one, but I never get a window/pop-up box/screen in order to allow me to enter the wifi network's user name and password.
Is this a firewall issue, wireless card issue...or?
I can access unsecured wireless networks where a password is not needed.

    Hi lisapapp!
One more thing to check: Is your Windows XP up to date? Older XP releases do not support the newer wireless encryption types which are now in common use (WPA, WPA2). Make sure you have SP3.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!
