About configurable material

hello,
any body pls explain me. i am facing to issues pls provide me solution
1) my scenario is make to order with configurable material.
when i am creating sales order in configuration i have maintined characteristic which were mainly required and status is showing green but when i am going to save it showing inconsistency check message and showing the same material again and asking for enter the data.again means it showing twice then only its allowing to save. i dont have any sales order BOM i have only PROD BOM and component is recursive.
2) i have maintained dependency in BOM.
dependy is procedure.
formula is $self.qty = width*thickness.
when the time of check i didn't get any error and released.
but when MRP run i haven't get result on base of my dependency. just which qty i have maintained in BOM only i am getting. pls suggest me where i am doing wrong. actually now we r in GOLIVE.
THANKS & REGARDS

thanks for ur reply
actually i have maintained dependency formula mentoined below
Z_WOOD_CROSS_QTY:
10$self.z_QTY_JSSL = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))6)
20 NO_OF_Pallets))
30 if packing = 'hisexp' or packing = 'ownexp' and length > 3000,
40$self.z_QTY_JSSL  = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))5)
50  NO_OF_Pallets))
60 if packing = 'hisexp' or packing = 'ownexp' and length > 2000
70and length <= 3000,
80$self.z_QTY_JSSL = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))4)
90NO_OF_Pallets))
100 if packing = 'hisexp' or packing = 'ownexp' and length > 1000
110 and length <= 2000,
120$self.z_QTY_JSSL = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))3)
130NO_OF_Pallets))
140 if packing = 'hisexp' or packing = 'ownexp' and length <= 1000,
150
160$self.z_QTY_JSSL = (((((32.5(WIDTH/25.4))/(121212))3)
170NO_OF_Pallets))
I have maintained
Thickness: 0.6mm
Width:1250mm
Length: 2010
When I am doing MRP run it should consider line 40-70
But it considering line 80 - 110 only
Its giving result as 1.64 in place of 2.04
Pls help me to resolve this issue. .

    Hi :
Can somebody tell me what's required step to set up a configurable material? What are dependencies, profiles? And how do they work?

Create configurable material mmk1/in mm01 use material type KMAT, characteristics CT04, classes Cl02, configuration profile Cu41, define the class in material master in classification view, assign objects to class Cl24N
Create BOM Work center, Routing and proceed.

  • Configurable material  with make to stock

    Hi,
My scenario is like  final products Distemper red 1kg, distemper  red 5kg and 10kg like this. But  Sales order will be Distemper red  1000kg.Based upon the availability of stock customer will get 5kg,10kg Depending upon the pack, price also differs depends upon the pack.
In RG1 register they are updating only Distemper red total stock.
If i go for variant configuration i should create distemper as variant and all finished material as normal and variant should be assigned(distemper red) in mrp 3 view.
Moreover planning also done for only distemper red while packing they will go for different quantity.
For Configurable material PIR can't be done.
So how to proceed further, what about RG1 resister it should not update all pack wise only distemper red total quantity.

    S.Suresh.

    Hi,
As BNR said you need to work with Material Variants for having Variant Configuration with Make to Stock.
Pls. find the helpful details for maintaining Material Variants :
Maintaining Material Master Records for Variants
    Prerequisites
A configurable material exists, for which you create a material variant. The configurable material
has all the necessary settings in the configuration profile, class assignment, dependencies, and
    so on.
    Procedure
    1. From the material master menu, choose Material   Create general   Immediately.
Enter a material number, an industry sector, and a material type for materials kept in
    stock.
You must process the following views:
    Basic Data*
    Sales Data*
    MRP Data*
For material variants, you maintain the usual material master data, such as
availability check, strategy groups, and so on. This documentation describes the data
that you need to maintain specifically for material variants.
    2. Maintain the required basic data.
Do not select Material is configurable for a material variant.
In the basic data, you can link the material variant to a configurable material. This
configuration applies to all plants. To manufacture the material variant in-house, you
must maintain the variant at plant level, so that BOMs, routings, and so on can be
determined. Cross-plant variants can be used in Purchasing, but are not supported in
    Sales.
    3. Maintain the sales data.
You can only use the variant in sales orders if you maintain sales data for the variant.
    4. In the MRP data, enter a configurable material for configuring the variant at plant level.
    5. Choose Configure variant.
You see the value assignment screen with the characteristics of the configurable
    material.
    Configure the variant.
    6. Once you have maintained all the data, save your material variant.
    Bill of Material (BOM)
To do a requirements explosion for a configured material, you must maintain the data in the
material master record and link a BOM to the configured material.
If the material of the material variant is the same as the configurable material, the link
    is already there.
You can either create a BOM especially for the configured material (perhaps using the copy from
function) or allocate the configured material to the BOM for the configurable product. The second
option is the more common solution.
If you allocate the configured material to the BOM for the configurable product, the BOM for the
configurable product is interpreted and exploded according to the characteristic values assigned.
The interpretation includes the processing of selection conditions and the setting of field values in
BOM items according to the relevant actions.
Allocating a Configured Material to a BOM
To allocate the configured material to the BOM of the configurable product, proceed as follows:
    1. From the bills of material menu, choose Bills of material   Material BOM   Alloc. config.
    mat.   Create.
    2. Enter the name of your configured material in the Material field.
You see a screen on which your configured material is shown as the first allocation.
Select the allocation and choose the All allocs for BOM function to see all the materials
    allocated to this BOM.
    3. Save your allocation.
    Task List
To produce a configured material, you need to allocate a task list to the configurable material
once you have created the material master.
If the material of the material variant is the same as the configurable material, the link
    is already there.
You can either create a task list especially for the configured material (perhaps using the copy
from function) or allocate the configured material to the task list for the configurable product in the
task list maintenance function. The second option is the more common solution. If you allocate
the configured material to the task list for the configurable product, the task list for the
configurable product is interpreted and exploded in the production order according to the
characteristic values assigned. The interpretation includes the processing of selection conditions
in the operations or activities, sub-operations, sequences of operations, and production
    resources/tools (PRTs).
Allocating a Task List to a Configured Material
To allocate the configured material to the task list of the configurable material, proceed as
    follows:
    1. From the routings menu, choose Routings   Routing   Change.
    2. Enter the number of the configurable material.
    3. Choose Goto   Overview.
    4. Choose Routing   Material allocation   New entries and enter the number of the
configured material you want to allocate to the task list.
    5. Save your allocation.
    Creating Cross-Plant Material Variants
    Use
For material variants that are procured externally, you can define the assignment to a
configurable material in the basic data of the material master, because no plant-specific data
needs to be determined for these variants.
    Procedure
    1. In the material master menu, choose Material   Create (General)   Immediately.
Enter a material number, an industry sector, and a material type for materials kept in
    stock.
Select the views that you want to process.
    2. Maintain the required basic data.
Do not select Material is configurable for a material variant.
    3. Under Client-specific configuration, enter the configurable material of which you are
    creating a variant.
    4. Choose Configure variant.
You see the value assignment screen with the characteristics of the configurable
    material.
    Configure the variant.
    5. Once you have maintained all the data, save your material variant.
    Result
The variant can be entered in a purchase order. The configuration of the variant is copied from
    the material master.
Cross-plant material variants can be used in Purchasing. However, they are not
    supported in Sales.
    Strategies for Variants
    Definition
    Low Variance
This section describes how to plan products that have a practical limited number of possible
combinations of characteristics and characteristic values. Technically speaking this section
describes the use of variants to sell configurable materials.
Variants can be used to facilitate the work with configurable materials. Variants of a configurable
material are, for example, defined to prefabricate frequently required configurations and place
them in stock, which is why variants were formerly called stockable types.
For some configurable materials, it may be difficult to determine the variants of a configurable
material. To use the strategies for variants effectively you must have an estimate of future
    consumption for each variant.
If the configuration is not changed during the Sales Order stage, production can occur at the
Production Before Sales Order stage. Then the customers must purchase the variants as they
are or as they were planned. The benefit is that the products can be shipped immediately to the
customers, if they are in stock.
Make to Stock Production for Variants
Variants can be planned on the finished product level using any make-to-stock strategy, such as
Planning with Final Assembly (40)  or Net Requirements Planning (10)
The planning of variants with make-to-stock strategies combines the advantages of make-tostock
production (very short delivery time) with the advantages of variant configuration (one BOM
and one routing for a whole product family).
Make to Order Production for Variants
Variants can be planned on the finished product level using any make-to-order strategy, such as
Planning w/o Final Assembly (50) or Planning with a Planning Material (60)
The planning of variants with make-to-order strategies combines the advantages of make-toorder
production (planning without final assembly or cost tracking on the sales order level) with
the advantages of variant configuration (one BOM and one routing for a whole product family).
    Integration
    Hope this helps.

    Tejas

  • Function Module for calculation of the net price of a configurable material

    Hi,
I would like to know if a function module allows to calculate the purchasing /net price of a configurable material at a vendor and at a requested delivery date before the creation of a purchasing order.
For configurable materials, we have no PIR and no moving / standard price thus the valuation price in the PR is blank.
I would like to fill in the field "valuation price" in the PR with the net price we can find in the PO.
However the PR is created before the PO.
Thanks a lot in advance for yours reply.
    regards,

    hi Pravenn,
I don't know about these functions, but u can try anything like this:
    data:
    strdate like sy-datum value '20070901',
          enddate like sy-datum value '20070909',
          date(10),
          moddate(1).
    date = enddate - strdate + 1.
    moddate = date mod 7.
    date = date div 7.
    if moddate <> 0.
      date = date + 1.
    endif.
    write: / date.

  • Want to see the stock of different variants with same configurable material

I have the stock for configurable material with different variants. Now I can see the cumulative stock
for that configurable material. But my requirement is that I want to see the stock for every variant
    belonging to the configurable material.
                      How can I get it?

    hello anant,
In my opinion for sure standard sap report cannot display the stock for a individual configuration.(Variant)
Reason:characteristics display/hide function is very dynamic dependeding on the dependency and interdependency.
The only option is by a report CL30N plus abap. Since we cannot keep anything in stock for a configurable material. You need to identify all open sales order and stock position OR through material movements and then find the produciton order and then read all char. values.
I assume you are not taking about variant materials.

  • MIRO with Aggregation: configurable material

    Hi,
We have Created PO for a configurable material  where we specified the char. values for variant
at the time of the MIGO we specified the char. values in   Batch classification.
Now while doing MIRO we selected the layout Aggregation: configurable material
System is is showing 4 fields char 1 char 2 char 3 char 4 but all values are blank
Why not system is picking the values  ???
    Thanks in advance

  • Component as a configurable material KMAT?

    Hello Gurus,
to be more clear with my question, I try to explain it by an example: A characteristic value assignment is made while busy with a sales order creation (VA01) for a configurable material SHOWER CUBICLE (material type KMAT). One of the characteristic is a Width/Height of a walls, so a value assignment of this characteristic can be 900/2000 for instant. After MRP execution, a BOM is exploded and all materials are determined by a super BOM. Every think is working out perfectly if a component u201CWALLu201D is managed by a class type 200. This means that there are defined beforehand all the material masters for each possible variants of component "WALL". In consequence a purchase requisition is generated for a specific material, in this example for a u201CWALL900X2000u201D.
My question is: To avoid to define and maintain the material masters for the variants, is it possible that I would define a component WALL as a configurable material KMAT? My tests show that a MRP can generate a purchase requisition for the material WALL (though it is KMAT), but without a value assignment taking over from a sales order. Very probably this is not a configuration issue, but I suppose I should use a user-exit or other functions to configure a component automatically? Which one?
    Many thanks already in advance
    Jari

    Jari ,
you can put a configurable material inside a configurable material BOM.
and while configuring the salable product in sales order , you can assign value to lower level  KMAT.
depend upon procurement type of component procurement proposal will be created.
for question about refletion of values from sales order to PO created, you need to check have you set up all master data and dependancies correctly.
as you mention you are using class 200 , what i guess is you are using classes inside BOM instead of materials and value assigned to calss is selecting appropiate material.
    check and come again.

  • Planning with configurable material

    Hello All,
We are using a Configurable material and i have a question about the configurable material. The Configurable FERT material should be a MTO and all the configured components should be MTS. I want to enter the forecast for the components in Md61 and put them in stock and the requirement from the Configurable finished good should consume the PIRs. can anyone tell me what strategies i should use at each level. Thanks in Advance.

    Hello
I have tried above suggestion, but they did not work. The sub assemblies (variant components) are not being consumed by the Fert level requirement. It is creating Another new requirement, it is not consuming the PIRS for the sub assemblies. Can someone suggest me what to do here.

  • Inventory maintenance for Configurable Material and their Variants.

    Hi Gurus,
Can anybody help me as how to handle the following issues?
    1. inventory maintenance for configurable material
    2. variants stock position maintenance (should it be maintained seperately from configurable material?)
    3. what about single values and multiple values components stock position?
    Regards,
    Sada

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
my query is say for example there is a material called XXX.
for this material the stock position is now 1000 units in warehouse. that is ok
if the above "XXX" is a configurable material, it might be having chars (say as additional components upto 10, which may be required by customers some times and no some times).  If we maintain stock position for material XXX then what about components.  because it is not always fixed and asked by the customers.  customer may ask all components or some components.
    Ex:  Car is material.
A/C, Luggage carrier on the top, tool kit these are characteristcs.
    I hope you understand me.

  • Configured material(Material Variants) with VC multi-level configuration

    Hi experts,
I have a question about VC, VC can be a multi-level configuration, and it can be configuration level by level in sales order, this configurable material replace by a configured material(Material Variants ) . however I can only config the first level in Material Variants(MM02 MRP3; the configrable material is a multi-level)! how to solve it?
If we can not multi level config the VC materil in the configured material, how can it replace the configurable material in sales order?
    Thanks
    lance

    Hi Lance,
You can do straight away also without user exit .
There is feature called Variant Matching in Variant configuration. If you can go throgh this and do the step by step configuration and in configuration profile setting you have to set Variant matching Indicator , then Make the Exclusion characterstics ,
With all the steps , Once the Configurable material is configured in Sales order if it finds the variant matched with the existing variant in the system , then Config Material will be replaced by Material Variant as a line item in the sales order.
    Thanks

  • Configuration material costing

    Dear Gurus,
I need some help for configuration material costing. In this case,  we launch PP and running MTS(make to stock). Material type of finished goods is FERT,  product cost settlement by production order .
Now, we want to run CTO(configure to order) , Material type is FERT &  HALB.
I had search relative topic , i know configuration materials can not use CK40N for standard cost, cost settlement by SO.....
The query is, we don't want to costing by SO at this moment, is it possible to maintain the CO setting base on MTS and don't settlement by SO ?
    Thanks advance!!!

    Hi,
The question you posed is not very clear. But based on what i have perceived, let me explain...
Make to Order (MTO) is of many types -
    1. MTO with sale order controlling
    2. MTO without sale order controlling
    3. Configuration management with KMAT material type
    4. Engineer to Order
    5. Assemble to Order
Let me know which scenario you are trying to do...
I feel you must be talking about MTO without sale order controlling ( u asked "is it possible to maintain the CO setting base on MTS and don't settlement by SO").
if that is the case, the answer is YES
in your setting for item category you make sure that you don't determine sale order item as cost object.
please ensure proper settings for 1. Account Assignment category, 2. Requirement Type 3. Requirement Class Settings
This particular scenario is purely for logistical purpose.
We use the normal costing run (CK40N) costs for this purpose. total costing cycle would be as good as MTS except that all the stocks are reserved for Sale Order.
I hope i made is clear.

  • Stock of configurable material

    Hi,
Is it possible to have stock of configurable material....?
    If yes how ,...?

    Hi SK,
You cant keep configurable material in stock.
But you can create material varient of configurable material and can stock them.
Go to SAP help , you will find lots of information about it.
and come with a specific question if you need further help on that.

  • Creation of Sale Order for configurable material with availability check.

    Hi,
We have a scenario in which the material is configurable. The configurable material (X) has few variants (Ex: X1, X2, X3, X4, X5). While booking the sale order, we use the material number (X).
Further, the material planning is done for the variants X1, X2, X3, X4, X5. The standard variants are planned for production in advance.
    1.     While booking the sale order, we want the availability check of the stock (type matching to happen). What needs to be done in configuration?
    2.     While booking the sale order, there is a possibility that the configuration selected will not match with any of the standard variants due to some additional requirements of the optional features, in such cases how to link the standard variants to the sale order & create requirement for additional requirements.
    Regards,
    Umesh

    Hi Umesh,
1.Create material master for configurable material and variants in mm01.
2.Maintain BOM for the configurable material in CS01
               3. Configur the variant configuration steps
                  a. Create charecteristics T.code CT04
                  b. Create values and assign classes
                  c. assign the values to charecteristics
                  d . Maitain dependence  T.code CU01
                  e.create configuration profile t.code CU41
                  f.stimulate the configuration profile.
    4. Do the availability check configuration through this path
IMG --> Sales and distribution > Basic functions ,> Availabilty check and Transfer of requirements.
    5. Maintain the Availbility check field and MRP views in the material masters other wise you sit with PP people and do that
I hope it will help you

  • Issue in consumption of forecast for configurable material

    Hi,
we have a issue in consumption of forecast by sales order for a configurable material.
Please find the below details for the settings maintained and the steps followed.
Please let me know how we can overcome this issue.
    settings in R/3
    1. Class and characterisitcs are created in R/3
    2. standard material was created and class assigned
    3. planning strategy used is 56
    4. material, class, characteristics,ATP check, ATP customizing , sales order were integrated to APO
    Settings in APO
    1. CBF table, CBF profile, Consumption group were created in APO
    2. Consumption group is attached to the product master
    following steps were followed.
    1. Forecast was created in DP for a certain characterstics ansd relaesed to SNP/PPDS
    2. forcast is visible in product view
    3. sales order was created in R/3
    4. slaes order is visible in APO but it is not consuming the foreacast for the same set of characteristics.
Please let me know how we can overcome this..are we missing any customization ...?
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi Srinivas,
    thanks for your response.
The forecast consumption problem was solved after correcting the entries in requirement strategy.
    have one more query.
when the sales order for a configurable material is transferred from R/3 to APO, we should be able to see the values under "descriptive characteristics tab" in APO product view.(when we click on the green triangle representing the configuration).
However, we could see the values under "descriptive characteristics tab" for some of the characterisitcs and not for other characteristics.
we tried comparing the characteristics but could not figure out the reason.
any pointers / clues to come over this issue would be helpful.
    thanks

  • Some questions about configuration in MAX.

    Hello,everyone!
I have some questions about configuration in MAX(I am a jackaroo for motion control development),I hope I can get your help.
    I use PCI-7344+UMI-7764+Servo amplifier+Servo motor,my MAX version is 4.2 and I use NI-Motion7.5
    My question as following:
    1,In Axis Configuration,for motor type,why I must select stepper but not servo?my motor is servo motor!If I select Servo,my motor can't run,I don't know why.
If I select stepper, though motor can work but I can't test encoder in MAX.
    2,In Stepper settings,for stepper loop mode,why I must select open-loop but not close-loop?If I select close-loop,the servo motor doesn't work too.
3,If I want my two servo motors run at different velocity,How shoud I do?It seems I just can set the same velocity in MAX for my two servo motors.
My English is poor,Pls pardon me!I come from China.

    Hi,Jochen,
Thank you for your kindly help!
The manufacturer of the drive and motor that I am using now is Japan SANYO DENKI,drive type is RS1A01AA,motor type is R2AA06020FXP00.
And I use position control mode, thehe encoder's counts per revolution is 131072.I set the electronic gear ratio to 1:1 for drive.
Now,I can use Close-Loop to control the motor but still has some problems. When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position. When I configure it to run in closed loop mode, the motors behave strangely and never move to the target position. The detail situation is as following
    1,Motor can't run.
2, Or motor moves to a position, then moves in the same direction agian and eventually stops.
Except for the  two points mentioned above,"Following Error" is  occured frequently,I don't know why.
I am still not clear why I must set the motor type be stepper in MAX .
And I have another question:what the relationship between the steps and the counts? They have the proportion relations?I notice that there are a section said like this in help document: For proper closed-loop and p-command operation, steps per revolution/counts per revolution must be in the range of 1/32,767 < steps/counts < 32,767. An incorrect counts to steps ratio can result in failure to reach the target position and erroneous closed-loop stepper operation.
I am verry sorry I have too many questions!
I am very appreciate for your kingly help! Thanks again!
