About javax.mail.provider

Hi friends,
I m creating project using java mail api 1.4. I found some code for reference, but i found that there is no class like javax.mail.provider in JavaMail 1.4 API.
What is the solution for this. Which classes are used instead of Renderable, Attachment classes.
What is the replacement for javax.mail.provider package.

Whatever reference code you're using, it looks like it's wrong.
JavaMail comes with lots of sample code, try that.

  • Mail doesn't send - javax.mail.MessagingException: 250

    Hello all,
    I'm new to JavaMail. I actually started with it last night. I've successfully sent a number of messages, but I randomly get a strange exception for no apparent reason.
    If I run the exact same code several times, it will produce this error about every 5 or 6 times:
    javax.mail.MessagingException: 250 Requested mail action okay, completed
    Does anyone know what might be going on? Thanks in advance for any help you might can give.
    Here is the heart of my code:
    // Get system properties
    Properties props = System.getProperties();
    // Setup mail server
    props.put("mail.smtp.host", host1);
    // Get session
    Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
              session.setDebug(true);
    // Define message
    MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(session);
    // Set the from address
    message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(fromAddress));
    // Set the to address
    message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(toAddress));
    // Set the subject
    message.setSubject(subject);
    // Set the content
    message.setContent(content, "text/html");
    // Send message
    Transport.send(message);
    Below is the debugger output: (certain values have been removed for anonymity's sake)
    DEBUG: getProvider() returning javax.mail.Provider[TRANSPORT,smtp,com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport,Sun Microsystems, Inc]
    DEBUG SMTP: useEhlo true, useAuth false
    DEBUG: SMTPTransport trying to connect to host "xx.xx.xx.xx", port 25

    Verified Addresses
    [email protected]
    DEBUG SMTP SENT: DATA
    DEBUG SMTP RCVD: 250 Requested mail action okay, completed
    DEBUG SMTP SENT: QUIT

    But I am getting that code thrown as a MessageException; the message never goes through. If you look at the debugging output compared to a message that went through, the DATA transmission commands are screwed up.
    Thanks for your input, though. I think I've gotten around this by trying to resend the message. It looks like that when I get this exception the message is never sent. I have a catch that detects this exception and tries to resend up to 3 times.
    Thanks,
    floosh

    Remove the logger statement from your program,
    or
    Check your IDE is in debug mode
    or
    paste your code and tell what environment are you using.

    There were some bugs in the old instructions for socket factories. Search this forum for the details.
    But, you should just upgrade to JavaMail 1.4.3, which supports properties that better control SSL
    connections, as well as a MailSSLSocketFactory that will give you more control without having to
    write your own.

  • Random javax.mail.FolderNotFoundException

    Hi all,
    we have a java application hosted on Win 2000 wich is using javamail api to interact with MS Exchange 2003. Basically is getting folders and iterating trough them.
    From time to time we get an error about javax.mail.FolderNotFoundException.
    This is happening really randomly and not on the same folder, the ms event viewer doesn't say so much, and the application has basic log4j error with no stack trace, only the getMessage().
    My question is, do you know of any existing bug between the three systems wich could cause such error ?
    Where do you think I should start to solve the problem ? Network ? Java ?
    thanks in advance...

    Turn on session debugging and examine the
    protocol trace. See the JavaMail FAQ.

  • Javax.mail.MessagingException: A5 BAD Command Argument Error. 12;

    This error appeared on mailboxes hosted on Exchange 2007. It happens when a folder is searched with 11+ OR terms. It works fine with <= 10 subjectTerm items OR'ed together. The search term does not matter. The mailboxes are migrating from Exchange 2003 where the problem does not occur. I tested 51 OR'ed subject terms against the 2003 mailbox and it works fine. I didn't test beyond 51 terms.
    I upgraded to JavaMail 1.4.2 and the problem still exists.
    I'm not sure if this is a JavaMail bug or an error with Exchange 2007.

    Why?
    Can you supply a stmp server name?
    Thanks.

    [skyask],
    Honestly, I am not very sure where the JVM is located for the WebLogic 5.1 application server. You probably need to contact your local BEA rep office for support.
    The jar file for the JavaMail API is either mail.jar (contains the API libraries) or mailapi.jar (contains the API libraries and all the providers), so I guess if you search the WebLogic directories, you might be able to locate it.
    It also depends on the OS platform that you are working on and the WebLogic installation documentation may give a clue or two where the .jar files for optional Java packages are found.

    Similar to the question found in William Troper's thread run on

    We have followed William's advice by renaming all of Sun's Mail

  • Javax.mail.NoSuchProviderException: No provider for imap

    Dear All,
    Currently i am running weblogic 5.1 for my javamail Application/WebMail. I have copied mail.jar, activation.jar,pop3.jar,imap.jarmailapi.jar in weblogic\jre1_2\jre\lib\ext folder. I get "javax.mail.NoSuchProviderException: No provider " exception when i run jsp page.
    Balaji

    It looks like weblogic 5.1 (atleast the mail.jar) doesn't contain the pop3.jar, I guess. Check whether you can include pop3.jar in ur classpath..

  • Javax.mail question

    I am working on a project and encounter a problem when I try to use javax.mail package to send email. For some season, I have to use a name without the domain name as the sender (such as Sender rather than Sender @sun.com). I got MessagingException called 501 Syntax error, mail from: <Sender>" unrecognized or missing. When I add the domain name in (subtitute Sender with [email protected]), the program worked. My mail server admin told me there is no restriction on the mail server to regulate the sender's name (also it allows relay messaging). I don't know if she is right because I don't know much about mail server. Also, I figured out that I have no problem with InternetAddress("Sender"). The only thing might have problem is Message.send().
    Anybody has a thought?
    Thanks in advance.

    In an effort to reduce the amount of spam hitting, mail relays are configured to refuse to accept pieces of email whose SMTP envelope's From header isn't resolvable
    If the header in the form of user@host instead of a globally-resolvable [email protected], a bounce message would return to your user with an error message like:
    451 <user@mailhost>... Domain does not resolve
    This means that your mail relay is identifying itself as mailhost rather than mailhost.your.domain.
    How this is fixed will depend on your mail transfer agent and your own DNS. Given that this is very site-specific, I can't provide any more help about host configuration.
    Certain mail user agents (MUAs) like Netscape, Eudora, etc., that want to use an ``SMTP host'' to deliver outgoing mail will write their own SMTP envelope. They'll do this by taking the value that the user provided as their email address (which will appear in the message's From: header and using it in the SMTP envelope From header. A mail transfer agent, configured to use the user's real email address, should be able to send mail to without problem.

  • Javax.mail.message.recipienttype not found

    Hi,
    I use jdev10g and i want to send a mail message.
    Here's a little snip of my class for sending a mail.
    Jdeveloper gives me a error about Message.RecipientType.TO.
    "Member 'RecipientType' not found in javax.mail.Message"
    import javax.mail.Message;
    message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO,
    new InternetAddress(to));
    I've installed the javamail-1.1.3 API.
    In my project properties -> libraries, i've added this library with the correct path to the jar file.
    I'm sure that this API have this Message class.
    What is going wrong, have i missed something ???
    Greetings,
    Peter

    Hi! Srikanth,
    1. I checked MailerEJB.deploy under "Dependency Analyzer",
    I checked activation.jar and mail.jar under the J2EE node.
    I did the same for the MailerJSP.deploy.
    2. I used same jdeveloper version and jdk 1.3.1_06.
    3. I did a clean deploy for the ejb and mailerjsp.deploy
    4. I recompiled and run the jpr,
    from the message window, I got:
    C:\jdeveloper\jdk\bin\javaw.exe -ojvm -classpath C:\oc4j\samples\ejb\EJBCallsJSP\classes;C:\oc4j\samples\ejb\EJBCallsJSP;C:\jdeveloper\jdev\lib\jdev-rt.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\activation.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\ejb.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jaas.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jaxp.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jcert.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jdbc.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jms.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jndi.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jnet.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jsse.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\jta.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\lib\mail.jar;C:\jdeveloper\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar;C:\jdeveloper\jdbc\lib\classes12.jar;C:\jdeveloper\jdbc\lib\nls_charset12.jar oracle.otnsamples.ejbcallsjsp.mailclient.MailClientSample
    I didn't see any error from this message window.
    5. The no provider for smtp error is prompted from the mail client.
    From above settings and running the application, I couldn't figure out where the error was coming from ?
    Thanks
    David

  • Javax.mail.FolderNotFoundException: folder INBOX not found

    Hi
    I have a simple program called simpleread.java. I have javamail, JAF and javamaildir installed.
    Now I know that I am not providing more details and I can post more details. I am very apologetic about this. However I wanted to know if the error I have is kind of general.
    So I am posting the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" javax.mail.FolderNotFoundException. folder 'INBOX" not found
    =======
    thanks in advance
    I will provide details gladly

    Sounds like a problem with the way javamaildir is configured,
    or the way you're using it. You might want to talk to the
    javamaildir experts.

  • Package javax.mail does not exist (Still having trouble)

    Good Morning
    I know that there are several posts regarding issues with javamail. I have viewed them for the past hour. While several of them address my issue I have been unable to locate a solution.
    Bare with me please, I am making this post very thorough. The other threads I have read are frusterating because the problems people tend to post are not clear.
    I am trying to run "msgsend" which is a provided demo of javamail-1.4 using command prompt (start - run - cmd) with the javac command.

    27 errors
    Here are the methods I have tried...
    1. Make sure you have most current version of Java
    2. Reinstall Java
    3. Attempt to compile in an IDE (Attempted in Eclipse 3.2)
    4. Set class path
    Some sources suggest "CLASSPATH" some suggest "CLASS PATH" as the variable name. I have tried both.
    Below is what the classpath looks like in bold.
    Variable Name: CLASS PATH
    Variable value: c:\download\javamail-1.4\mail.jar;C:\download\jaf-1.1\activation.jar;.
    I have double checked all folder names and copy pasted all entries to eliminate typos. Javamail-1.4 and jaf-1.1 are both located in c:\download which is the same location Class Path points to.
    Thank you very much for your input and effort. I can imagine how frusterating it is responding to 20million javamail posts :) (that may be a bit of an overstatement!)
    Thank you again!

    Yes - I have read that part of the README and did exactly as it has said in a previous attempt. I should have mentioned that here I'm sorry :)
    I moved the .jar files into the download folder and set the classpath exactly as the readme shows.
    When I do that the msgsend.java compiles correctly but it still does not run.
    Below is what happens.
    C:\download\javamail-1.4\demo>set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\download\javamail-1.4
    \mail.jar;%CLASSPATH%;c:\download\jaf-1.1\activation.jar.
    C:\download\javamail-1.4\demo>javac msgsend.java
    C:\download\javamail-1.4\demo>java msgsend.java
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: msgsend/java
    C:\download\javamail-1.4\demo>
    I have tried fixing this error as well via forums and FAQs but it seems to be the most generic error.
    One suggestion was to clear your classpath. I tried this with a test hello world program which was giving the same error - "NoClassDefFoundError". By clearing the classpath I was able to get the hello world program to run without this error. But I can't just clear the classpath in this instance because it needs to point to mail.jar and activation.jar for the program to compile.
    Thanks again for all of your efforts. You are more appreciated than you know.
