About user-defined field

Hi experts,
I added an UDF in BOM-Title and the type is link.
I created a BOM and assigned the UDF an attachment. but when I try to modify the UDF value, double click the field, it just pops up the attachment I assigned.
I can't modify or change the value. How to do that? Thanks....

hi Gordon,
Yes, the UDF type is general with structure as link. and yes, if I double click the field, it pop up a File Open Window first time.
but once I assigned a file into the field, for example, a excel file. after somedays, if I want to change the file in that field again, I double click the field and it always pop up the excel file I stored last time, won't pop up the File Open Window anymore. I can't change the filename in the link field. are there any way to modify the value(file) in link UDF field? Thanks...

  • About Setting - User Defined Fields

    Hi everyone:
    Well let me introduce a little of what i've been doing, at first i had this addon running just to satisfy some clients requirements, but now the requirements are different from one to another so i need to build an standard of it, for that do you know where or which is the table that saves the information contained on the form Settings- User Defined Fields? (for an specific form) where i found how the categories (CUDC) are settled to the _User fields of every form etc.
    hope anyone knows about this.
    thanks a lot

  • Modifying/Updating User Defined Field in a Scheduled Task

    I've written a notification task to send an e-mail to a manager who has a contract employee with a contract that is about to expire.
    Once we isolate a user who has a contract about to expire, we send a notification to the manager. The date that the notification is sent out should be stored in the USR table in a user-defined field, "USR_UDF_LASTSENT."
    Updating this USR_UDF_LASTSENT field is where I'm having difficulty.
    I've tried using the UserManager in a couple of ways. Suppose I've isolated a single user using SearchCriteria and the UserManager and have a single User object called "currentUser." I want to store a Date object in the user defined field "USR_UDF_LASTSENT". Date today = new Date();
    I've tried: currentUser.setAttribute("USR_UDF_LASTSENT", today); //This will run without error, but when I check the DB there is no change to the attribute.
    With a defined instance of UserManager userManager, I've tried: userManager.modify("USR_UDF_LASTSENT", today, currentUser); //This errored out with this error - oracle.iam.identity.exception.NoSuchUserException: IAM-3054135:No user found for the criteria USR_UDF_LASTSENT-9/24/13 2:58 PM.:USR_UDF_LASTSENT:9/24/13 2:58 PM. It looks like it's doing a search rather than a modification.
    I've also tried using the entity manager in the following way:
    Date today = new Date();
    HashMap<String, Object> mapAttrs = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    mapAttrs.put("USR_UDF_LASTSENT", today);
    EntityManager entMgr = Platform.getService(EntityManager.class);
    entMgr.modifyEntity("User", currentUser.getEntityId(), mapAttrs);
    But it returns with this error: Failed: oracle.iam.platform.entitymgr.UnknownAttributeException: User : [USR_UDF_LASTSENT]
    Is my entityType, "User" inappropriate in this case? What should be used here?
    How can I Set or Update this user defined field from a scheduled task?

    Thanks guys. I did go to Identity System Administration console and chose 'Export' from under "System Managment" which I believe Kevin may have been hinting at. I got an xml export of the AttributeDefinitions for our user defined fields. In this file, there was a header for the attribute I was looking for:
    <AttributeDefinition repo-type="API" name="LastSent" subtype="User Metadata">
       <multiValued>
       <backendName>usr_udf_lastsent</backendName>
    I put the string "LastSent" in place of USR_UDF_LASTSENT in the EntityManager version of my attempt at this task. I believe this is what Kevin and delhi were getting at.
    This didn't work:
    Date today = new Date();
    HashMap<String, Object> mapAttrs = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    mapAttrs.put("USR_UDF_LASTSENT", today);
    EntityManager entMgr = Platform.getService(EntityManager.class);
    entMgr.modifyEntity("User", currentUser.getEntityId(), mapAttrs);
    But this did:
    Date today = new Date();
    HashMap<String, Object> mapAttrs = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    mapAttrs.put("LastSent", today);
    EntityManager entMgr = Platform.getService(EntityManager.class);
    entMgr.modifyEntity("User", currentUser.getEntityId(), mapAttrs);
    I wonder if currentUser.setAttribute("LastSent", today); would work... Hmm.

  • How to use User Options and User-Defined Fields in DC Group function?

    Dears,
    As title, when should I use above fields?  I did not see the related information in SAPME help library.
    Thanks!

    The user options fields are just information fields you can store at the Data Collection Maintenance activity. You can think of these as extra information fields for storage purposes only.  I can't give you a use case except to say 'information fields' only.
    With regards to the User-Defined fields in DC Group - you can think of these as extra data fields to be collected.  They will appear immediately underneath the data parameter they are defined in in the DC Plug-in for the POD.  They do not have limits but are just extra pieces of data you may want to collect about the specific parameter.

  • Batch Input for user defined fields (SRM 4.0)

    Hello.

  • User defined Field Size limit

    Hi,
    would anyone know if there is a limit of the number of user defined fields that can be addeded to SAP Business One (2004A on SQL server 2000)?
    I think there is (in a diffrenet way). It looks like there is a maximmum byte size  - 8060.
    I have the following user fields already in the business partner master data screen .
    A - alphanumeric size = 50
    B - alphanumeric size = 20
    C - alphanumeric size = 20
    D - alphanumeric size = 20
    E - alphanumeric size = 254
    If I try to change B to size 254 ,This is the error message I get.
    "[CUFD] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Warnning: The table 'ACRD' has been created but it's maximum row size 'User Fieds - Descr' (8522) exeeds the maximum number of bytes per row (8060)..."
    there is nothig else wqrong with the field exept I cannot make it size 254 (I can if I delete the field E though), so I definitely think it is SAP restricting the size. SQL Server does not have this size restriction. I can manually go and change the size using SQL Server Enterprise manager for example.
    I have managed to change the size directly on ACRD, and
    CUFD but dont thinks this is a very approprite way of handilng it.
    Is this an undocumented restriction/feature in SAP or have I missed reading about this ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Indika.

    Hi Spiros,
    I hope you are right. But I have experiences this with many atleast 3 other seperate installations. They were all SQL Server, ranging from Enterprise versio, to Developer version to standard.
    However I can directly change the size in SQL Server without an issue as I mentioned. This proves that this not an issue with SQL Server. Could it be some sort of a flag in the SAP? I get this on the SAP US demo company for example.
    If anyone else had the problem please do respond.
    Thanks,
    Indika

  • User Defined Field

    In Item Master Data ( General Tab)  an Option is available as  <b>Excisable</b>
    Under neth Specified as Material Type :<b>1. Finished Goods
                                                              2. Capital Goods
                                                              3. Raw Materials</b> which are Predefined.
    Now can we Have a provision as <b>Define New</b> in this Box.
    If I would like to add with the Help of User Defined Field process will it be help ful can  any body guide me.

    User Defined Fields can be managed by choosing User Defined Fields and Manage User Defined Fields from the Tools menu. I'm not sure about yours but on our system the UDFs we use are under the Marketing Documents tab.
    Click Marketing Documents and Title. Make the Title row highlighted in yellow and click ADD. It is then up to you what you call your UDFs. Make sure they are in the correct format (Alphanumeric etc)

  • User Define Field

    Hi,
    Just wondering, if any one faced the dilemma as I am facing in reference to User Define field.
    I have user define field and is visible in SBO Interface (Tools - User Defined Field - Manage User Defined field), but unfortunately its not available in XL report writer (Tools - User Defined Fields). Its quite confusing because other user defined field is visible in XL Reporter, but only one is missing. Is there any restriction or can anyone guide to view all the user-defined fields in XL Reporter defined in SBO interface.
    Regards
    Ronald

    Hi,
    There is a pdf file from SAP that explains about the table supported by XL reporter. So, if you made some UDF in the table that is not supported by XL reporter, I think it won't be available in the XL reporter.
    The pdf file title is Support of User-Defined Fields (UDFs) in XL Reporter - SAP Business One 2005A SP01 - March 2006.

  • Prevent closure of user defined field forms

    Hi.
    I need to prevent the closure of a user defined fields form while the parent form is opened. I can trap the et_FORM_UNLOAD before event but seems is too late to prevent the closure. Have anyone some idea about it?
    Ciao. Nicola

    Hi Martella,
    You need to do two things to achieve this.
    1. Make sure that when parent form is opened, the user defined field form is always opened at that same time.
    you can do that as follows
    If pVal.FormTypeEx = [Parent form type] And pVal.EventType = et_FORM_ACTIVATE Then
       Set oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.GetForm(-Val(pVal.FormTypeEx), pVal.FormTypeCount)
       If oForm Is Nothing Then
            If applic.Menus.Item("6913").Enabled = True And applic.Menus.Item("6913").Checked = False Then
               applic.Menus.Item("6913").Activate
            End If
       End If
    End If
    2. Disable the close button(X) on the user defined field form as follows:
    If pVal.FormTypeEx = [User defined form type] And pVal.EventType = et_FORM_LOAD And pVal.Before_Action = False Then
         Set oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.GetForm(pVal.FormTypeEx, pVal.FormTypeCount)
         Set oItem = oForm.Items.Item("4") ' Item 4 is close button
          oItem.Enabled = False
    End if
    Hope this helps.

  • Add User Defined Field (Landed Costs Window)

    Hello All!
    Somebody can help us on this, we wonder if someone can tell us how can we add a user defined field in the Landed Costs Windows -> Fixed Costs TAB place.
    We were unable to add this field, and now we're thinking that's impossible through the USER DEFINE FIELD function, there's not reference about Fixed Costs TAB in this tool, but if someone knows the 'how to', please help us.
    thanks in advance
    jssanche

    Hi Sanchez,
    I am afraid you could not do that. User defined field is not be added into landed cost. Landed cost seems like process external bank statement. I have ever asked to SAP support about this (how to add UDF in process external bank statement) and they said it could be done using add-on. You have developed add-on to do that (DI/UI or UI API only).

  • Unique User-Defined Field

    Gurus,
    I have a User-Defined Field and I want the values in this field to be unique.
    Is there a way to set this up? I only found how to make the field required and visible, but didnt find anything about how to make it unique.
    Thnaks,
    Adriano.

    Martin,
    Thanks for answering but let me clarify one point.
    The value will be entered by the user, he will paste the value into this field and it is supposed to be unique. I would like to validate it.
    If the value already exist for another identity I stop the user from creating an identity on OIM.
    I wondered if i had a better choice then writing an adapter (java) to search for this value in the OIM.
    Please let me know if the adapter is my only choice for now.
    Thanks again,
    Adriano!

  • Creating User Defined Fields via DI API

    Hello,
    Has anyone tried creating User Defined Fields via DI without direct database intervention ? My add on relies on some UDF's that have to be created on install.
    Thank you

    I regularly use the UI API to do this.  You can find several discussions on this forum.  I have not put this in my installation program, but I use UserFieldsMD in the DI API and a CSV file from Excel to store the information about the fields.

  • I can't see the user-defined fields I'm supposed to - where are they?

    Following a recent CACI release upgrade users are expecting to see several user-defined fields within student details in the Enrolments Universe but we can't. Following upgrades, do I need to refresh or run something that'll encorporate any new additions to the existing tables?
    Apologies, but this is the 1st time I have had to do this.

    which version of BOB are you talking about here? Did you already made your changes to the universe and exported it in your repository? What kind of reporting tool (WebI, DeskI, CR) are you using?
