Absense of xml tags and blank text fields

I am a new user to LiveCycle and am trying to create a document that will not display the text field if the corresponding xlm tag is not provided.
I seem to be able to do this if the text field is wrapped in a subform, but as this document has many text fields it simply would not be efficient to wrap every field independantly. Currently, I have subforms consisting of multiple text fields.   Each of these text fields are bound and the subform they are in is flowed and is set to repeating with no minimum or maximum records required.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi,
I don't think there is a particularly easy way to do this,  you can add some code in the initialise event, something like;
if (this.dataNode.isNull)
    this.presence = "hidden";
You can use this.dataNode to reference the value the field is bound to..
If you have lots of fields and If your users are using Reader 9.1  then you can use event propagation,
http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2011/06/propagating-events.html.
Otherwise you can try doing something with proto elements.
Hope this helps,
Bruce

  • How to get all xml tags in a text frame?

    I want to get all the xml tags of the text in a text frame. I had tried the following methods but always get the tag binding the frame itself. <br /><br />1) XMLReference objXMLRef = Utils<IXMLUtils>()->QueryXMLReferenceData(textModel, 1);<br /><br />2) XMLReference objXMLRef = Utils<IXMLUtils>()->GetStoryThreadXMLReference(textModel, textIndex);<br /><br />Thanks in advance.

    I would think if you intanciate the XMLReference and use IIDXMLElement GetChildCount / GetNthChild would do what you are looking for.

  • Putting both xml document and plain text in to the same container

    I have some configuration files written in plain text with the format 'key' = 'value'
    I want to put them into the same container with my xml document, is this possible?
    thanks

    Hi,
    yes it is. There are a couple of ways:
    1) Wrap into some XML tags and put your settings as an XML document (bad way)
    2) Use metadata of documents. You can store your plain text as metadata associated with some XML document. Also you can store a document only with metadata (i.e. with empty XML content).

  • Subscript & Superscript in dynamic and input text field in Flash

    Yes, & tags are not supported by
    Flash but you can
    use Subscript & Superscript in dynamic and input text
    field in Flash:
    Download & install Subscript & Superscript fonts
    from
    http://www.subscriptfont.com
    or
    http://www.superscriptfont.com
    You will need to restart Flash software after installed
    fonts.
    Create a dynamic text field with Arial font embeded. Set the
    HTML property to true.
    Create a dynamic text field with Subscript font embeded.
    Create a dynamic text field with Superscript font embeded.
    Use HTML tag to set text to subscript or superscript like
    below:
    Some text<font face="Superscript">©</font>
    If you are using ActionScript to test the htmlText, use
    script like below:
    my_txt.htmlText = "Some text<font
    face='Superscript'>TM</font>";
    They are better than CG since it goes lower than the baseline
    and it's real subscript..

    Hi Nirnalatha,
    I have newly joined this forum and while going through the
    posts I came across your post which I thought I could help out. But
    I think I am too late for the reply.
    I am also into Flashlite development couple of months from
    now. Coming to your questions:
    1. Textbox problem: I am surprised to know that E70 mobiles
    (Device central list has E70-1 only) does not show input text box
    when cursor is in input box. Anyways its a good thing that you dont
    get an additonal input box. Like all J2ME applications you will be
    able to type the text inline. Infact we had reverse problem where I
    was told to create inline edit input box instead of flashlite input
    box. I think this is the mobile setting. Check the device features
    in the Adobe Device Central under Flash - Standalone player - Text
    and Fonts features. It will be mentioned whether inline text is
    allowed or not.
    2. Soft keys issues: You need to use
    fscommand2("SetSoftKeys", "Previous", "Next");
    and use a key listener in order to override the Mobile
    Softkey commands. Check out the flashlite help which clearly
    explains this.
    Hope I have given youa way to solve ur problem.

  • Auto populate blank text fields with n.a from a button or on print out.

    This seems straight forward but I cannot find an existing questions on this topic.
    I would like to add a form function that will fill any blank text fields with n.a. I do not want to use the default field value as I think it will cause confusion and cannot be applied for text fields formatted for dates. Is it possible to run a script that can do this? It would be OK if the action was triggered from a button or print activity after the rest of the form has been completed.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    The question is whether your form is used only for filling out on screen (and not as a level 0 form, being printed out and filled out manually).
    If so, why not make the default value of the concerned fields to be "n/a" (or whatever you want to name them). That would relieve you from any validating before printing.
    Otherwise, you could maintain a list of field names which should get the n/a value if empty. This list would be an array.
    Your code in the willPrint event (if you want to have it reliably) would then look like this:
    for (var i = 0 ; i < nafieldarray.length ; i++) {
    if (this.getField(nafieldarray[i]).value == this.getField(nafieldarray[i]).defaultValue) {
    this.getField(nafieldarray[i].value = "n/a") ;
    HTH.

  • Want to include ?xml tag and  schema when creating XML

    My database table that need to be generated in to XML are large and therefore I must use OracleXMLQuery.getXMLSAX . The output is missing the <?xml version="1.0" ?> tag. How do I get it? I am on 9i but have imported the .jar containing oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLSAXSerializer from 10g XDK.
    Also, I want the schema to be written next, before the actual XML table values.
    I know that a command line parameter exists, which works for small XML files:
    java oraclexml getxml -user "scott/tiger" -withDTD "select ....
    How do I get the equivalent of '"-withDTD" when using
         OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn, "select * from "+table_name );
         qry.getXMLSAX(myStream);
         myStream.flush();
    Thank you,
    Elaine

    No. Actually, I can get the <?xml tag and DTD if my select statement contains 'where rownum=0', as the resultset is small which lets me use getXMLMetaData() .
    I write it to one output file, then do another OracleXMLQuery, repeating the select statement without the where clause, and run that through getXMLSAX to get the detail.
    Next, I need to scrub the data of special characters acceptable in the database but which cause problems to a browser or XML validator. (e.g. accented characters).
    Finally, I will concatente the two files.
    Is there a simpler way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Elaine

  • [CS3][JS] Apply XML tag for selected text

    Hi
      I need to apply XML tag to selected text in a tagged content.The XML tag is already applied for paragraph.I need to apply XML Tag for selected text in a paragraph.
    I have used following code, it applies tag for entire paragraph,not a selected text in a paragraph.
    app.selection[0].associatedXMLElements[0].markupTag=myDoc.xmlTags.item("italic");
    Please suggest me.

        var myTextFrame = myPage.textFrames.add({geometricBounds:myGetBounds(myDocument, myPage)});
        myTextFrame.contents = "This is the first paragraph in a text frame.\rThis is the second paragraph in a text frame.\rThis is the third paragraph in a text frame.\rThis is the fourth paragraph in a text frame.\r";

        var myPage = myDocument.pages.item(0);
        myDocument.xmlElements.item(0).xmlElements.item(0).markup(myPage.textFrames.item(0));
        //</fragment>
    function myTeardown(){
    function myGetBounds(myDocument, myPage){
        var myPageWidth = myDocument.documentPreferences.pageWidth;
        var myPageHeight = myDocument.documentPreferences.pageHeight

            var myX2 = myPage.marginPreferences.right;
        var myY1 = myPage.marginPreferences.top;
        var myX2 = myPageWidth - myX2;
        var myY2 = myPageHeight - myPage.marginPreferences.bottom;
        return [myY1, myX1, myY2, myX2];
    I think you can use the markup function on the selected item (Text Object have a markup method)

  • Embedding html in xml tags, when rednering text as html

    Quick question,
    I have a site that reads all content from an external xml.
    The text box that reads this info renders the content as html; does
    anyone know how to go about putting an html tag in an xml tag so
    that flash can read it?
    So would it be possible to do:
    <content>
    " Welcome to the site<br>we are happy to have you
    here<br><img src="logo.jpg"> "
    </content>

    I completed deleted the old way, so I have to recreate this
    from scratch...but here is how I used to be able to do it (which,
    looking at how I do it now since HTML wasn't parsing, this was so
    stupid).

  • Retrieving tags and corresponding text within textFrame

    I have a text frame that looks like this:
    starting with a reference to the pageitem, I want to be able to get a list of the tag names and the text that corresponde to them. In this example the red tag is "text1" the green tag is "text2" and the blue tag is "text3" so I would like:
    text1 -> somewhere
    text2 -> over the rainbow
    text3 -> way up high
    The only way I have been able to access the tags and values is by  parsing the structure xml but I have found that xml is pretty slow in indesign and since I already have a reference to the object when I need to know the tags I just assumed there should be an easier way.
    Thanks for the help, hope I was descriptive enough.

    Not quite! however you did point me in the right direction.Apprently this is how the structure is pieced together:
    myObject.associatedXMLElement.getElements()[0].xmlElements[0].texts[0].contents = "somewhere"

  • Drag and drop text fields

    Hey.  trying to drag and drop a text field.  So I have created a text field, and saved it as a swf.  I then load it in using xml and the loader class.  When I go to pick it up, i get the error
    TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.text::TextField@10d59b51 to flash.display.Sprite.
        at GalleryNew_fla::MainTimeline/pickUp()[GalleryNew_fla.MainTimeline::frame1:81]
    It is specifically pointing to
    function pickUp(event:MouseEvent):void {
        getPosition(event.target);
        stage.addChild(event.target as DisplayObject);
        Sprite(event.target).startDrag(true);
    Should I be casting it to something else or something?
    cheers

    I will try and explain what I am doing better, because I am problably doing this tottally wrong, I am just mixing a lot of code to get something together.
    Basically, I have several buttons.  If a button is pressed, it displays objects in a sort of holder.  These objects might be images, animations etc.  When these are placed in the holder, they can be dragged and dropped.  If they are not dropped in the right location, they go back to their position in the holder.
    So, my first two buttons work great.  These just deal with images.  button5, which I am working on now, is dealing with textfields.  So, it should load my textfield swfs, place them in the holder, and made to be drop and draggable.  Problem is, I am using the code which i used for the images, which is where I might be going wrong.
    If I show you the code, maybe you could suggest a better way to do things

  • Split imported XML data into multiple text fields

    I should first describe my final project because it is very possible that I am going about this entirely wrong!
    I am trying to create an interactive PDF file which is the floor plan of our office, when you mouse over the office spaces it would popup the info for the person in that office, in fact when you click on the office space it would show additional info like computer MAC and jack numbers
    I placed the floor plan as a layer and them created a second layer with no fill/no stroke rectangles over the offices and made them buttons (office01, office02)
    I then made text fields with the info for the people, one for regular info and one for extra info (office01-data, office01-Xdata) I made these text fields buttons as well and had them "hidden until triggered"
    These info fields are all on top of one another, as in the are all the same size and in teh same location
    Then I went to the office buttons and created events "On Roll Over" "Show/Hide Buttons and Forms" and changed the visibility of the corresponding info button.
    This works like a charm!
    I hope I am clear up to this point.... my problem now is I would like to import this data both regular and extra from an excel spreadsheet or an XML file.
    That way when we get new staff or people move offices or whatever I can update the spreadsheet or XML file, rerun my InDesign file and create a new interactive PDF
    I have created the XML file
    <staffMap>
         <staff>
              <name>John Doe</name>
              <computerName<gfth56df</computerName>
              <phoneMAC>00:08:00:AB:CD:EF</phoneMAC>
         </staff>
    <staff>
              <name>John Smith</name>
              <computerName<gfth06cb</computerName>
              <phoneMAC>00:08:00:11:22:33</phoneMAC>
         </staff>
    </staffMap>
    Created a new InDesign document
    Imported the XML and placed it in a text field
    saved as a template and closed it
    Reopen and import the XML data again... and it brings it all into the text field... wonderful and useful but not what I need.
    Is it possible to import the XML data into separate test fields, or into some other separate field that I can make into a button and show/hide?
    I may end up just entering all the data directly into InDesign as I know this will work, it just does not seem like the right way to do it.
    Thanking you all in advance

    I am still looking to get some help with this.
    I would love to know if it is not possible or any ideas at all

  • How send e-mail with XML + PDF and body text

    Hi everyone,
    I have a new requirement but I´m with doubts, how to send an e-mail with two attachements (XML and PDF) and body text using -
    MIME: multipart/mixed;boundary
    I already have code to send XML + body text as you can see below:
    Element contentType = docout.createElement("Content_Type");
      root.appendChild(contentType);
      Text contentTypeText = docout.createTextNode("multipart/mixed;boundary=--AaZz");
      absTraceLog.addDebugMessage("Content_Type e-mail --- "+contentTypeText.toString());
      contentType.appendChild(contentTypeText)
    String text = "----AaZz\r\nContent-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\r\n" +
            "Content-Disposition: inline\r\n\r\n" + nfeText +
            "\r\n----AaZz\r\nContent-Disposition: attachment; filename="+ prefixo +" "+ chaveNFe +".xml" +"\r\n\r\n" + xmlString + "\r\n";
    Element content = docout.createElement("Content");
    root.appendChild(content);
    contentText = docout.createTextNode(text);
    Content.appendChild(contentText);
    The code above work good, but I can´t duplicate any field from XiMail 3.0 - because it´s 0:1.
    So how to do that ?

  • Extracting XML tags and its values using ORACLE PL/SQL

    I need help to create a procedure that receive a XML string and insert it into the table after parsing it.
    If the XML has 10 tags then it should insert into the table 10 rows. Table will be having tag name and value. This will be plain XML tags without attributes in tags.

    Hi,
    I am able to retreive the values of the tags using extract function (example: lv_xml.EXTRACT ('/ROWSET/EMPLOYEE/EMPNO/text()').getstringval() ). But could you help me to find some way to extract the tags also since we have no idea what the tags are and how many tags are there, in advance.
    Anybody's help will be a releif!
    Thanks in advance,
    Leslie
