AC3 "The base specified is a native class..."??

Hello, I'm having a problem with linking one of my symbols to my document class.  I went under Properties in my symbol drop-down list and put the correct base class in their (flash.display.MovieClip), however it keeps giving me this error when I click to see if it goes through: The base specified is a native class and will be defined in the player at runtime.  It cannot be edited".  When I went back to check my code, it had the correct "public class DocumentClass extends MovieClip" under "import flash.display.MovieClip".  What am I doing wrong?  I'm pretty new to Flash and AC3..
package
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    public class DocumentClass extends MovieClip
        public var playScreen:AvoiderGame;
        public function DocumentClass()
            playScreen = new AvoiderGame();
            addChild( playScreen );

If your Library symbols have AvoiderGame in their base class field, then the "Class" field should automatically be filled in with the name of the symbol, unless you already filled it in with something else. If you filled it in with something else, just copy the name of the symbol and paste it into the Class field and paste your custom Class into the Base Class field (the one at the bottom). When you use the Base Class field, it allows you to use your custom Class for multiple Library Symbols, because the Class name being used to form the linkage is the other field (Class).
To use a symbol, you'd do something like:
public class DocumentClass extends MovieClip {
     protected var game:AvoiderGame;
     public function DocumentClass() {
          super();
          game = new YourLibrarySymbolName() as AvoiderGame;
          addChild(game);
Note that at this point it sounds like you're totally not following the tutorial, because Michael said pretty clearly that he was using the AvoiderGame Class as his Document Class, but you know--whatever. It's just not really possible to give you very good help, because it's impossible to determine if you've diverged from the tutorial on purpose, because you know what you're doing, on purpose, because you think you know what you're doing, but don't, or accidentally, because you don't understand what you're reading.

  • Warning :: Derived class hides the base class virtual function

    We are porting from CC5.3 to CC5.8 compiler with Sun Studio one compiler. After plenty of hurdles we are in the final stage of removing the warning messages... Amoung the plenty the following one is very common and in different files. Why am I getting this error in 5.8 and not in 5.3 compiler....
    Warning: derived_Object::markRead Hides the virtual function base_Object::markRead(ut_SourceCodeLocation&) const in a virtual base
    From this it is easily understandable that the base class mark read was hidden by derived class markRead... when we drive and override the derived class function.... It is all over the place....
    Thank you,
    Saravanan Kannan
    //public: using xx_Object :: markRead;
    virtual void markRead() const;

    The Sun C++ FAQ discusses the warning message:
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/cc/documentation/ss11/mr/READMEs/c++_faq.html#Coding1
    Notice that warnings are not necessarily errors. But I applaud your desire to fix the code so that it generates no warnings. I wish more of our customers could be persuaded to do the same. :-)
    C++ 5.3 issues this warning, by the way. Example:
    struct B { virtual int foo(int); };
    struct D : B { virtual int foo(double); }; // line 2
    D d;
    line 2: Warning: D::foo hides the virtual function B::foo(int).
    If for your particular code you do not see a warning with C++ 5.3, it would be due to a bug in C++ 5.3 that was later fixed.

  • Class override, how to create the child class and then the base class

    I started to write a program for a smart DMM, the problem is every version of the DMM the company change the communication commend.
    My idea is to write a child class for every DMM version and every SubVI of the child will override the base class SubVI.
    My problem is, i want first to create one child class and after i will see every thing is work,  start to create the base class. that way i will see if am thinking the right way.
    My question is
    How can i create a child class and then create the base class and configure the SubVi of the child class to be Override of the base class?
    I tried to search in the property of the class but i didn't see nothing.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This can be done and I've done it on occasion.
    You simply create the base class with the dynamic dispatch methods you require (connector panes need to be identical to thos of the child class).
    Then set the inheritance of the class to inherit from this base class.  If your method is defined as a dynamic dispatch method in the parent, you'll most likely now have some errors (unless your child method was already DD in which case you might just be OK already).
    To change the inheritance of a class, right-click the properties of the class in your project and select properties.  I believe the ineritance tree is at the lower end of the properties.  Click on the "change inheritance" (or something similar) to choose the class from which you now wish to inherit.
    Say hello to my little friend.

  • Reflection: attributes from the base class

    Is there a way to get the attributes from the base class of a derived class via reflection? I only found methods to get the attributes from the derived class.
    Example:
    class A
    int a = 4;
    class B extends A
    int b = 5;
    Object unknown = new B();
    Code/Idea to get all attributes from baseclass A using unknown (here: a=4)?

    Thank you all for your hints. The mistake I make, was to use the baseclass, and not the derived class for getting the attributes. By using an extra parameter of type class I got all attributes in their context.

    Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
    As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
    Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
    I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent

  • Introspector calling the Base Class multiple times

    Hi
    I am having a Java Bean C (which extends B which in turn extends A) ...and each of these Classes have the BeanInfo classes .. ABeanInfo , BBeanInfo , CBeanInfo....
    And i had written my beaninfos such a way that they are optimised by extending the basebeaninfo and calling super.getPropertyDescriptors and adding them to the Descriptoirs of extra methods like
    Class A
    private String name;
    public void getName()
    Class B extends A
    private String city ;
    public void getCity
    class ABeanInfo extends SimpleBeanInfo
    public PropertyDescriptors[] getPropertyDescriptors()
    // Got the property descriptor for name
    // return by forming array
    My Class B bean info will look like this
    class BBeanInfo extends ABeanInfo
    public PropertyDescriptors[] getPropertyDescriptors()
    PropertyDescriptors[] baseDesc = super.getPropertyDescriptors();
    // Get the property descriptor for City
    // Club the base class desc and the new ones added
    // return by forming array
    But when i use Introspector.getBeanInfo(B.class) , the A.getPropertyDescriptors method is getting called twice (One internally by the introspector and the other when my super.get...)
    How can this be avoided ?? Ofcourse after the first time , the introspector is caching the instances of BeanInfos...
    If this is the implicit behaviour , can i change my BeanInfo classses in such a way that it won't get called

    Why is this a problem?

  • ClassFileTransformer and how to transform the base class first

    Hello,
    I've written a ClassFileTransformer that uses ASM to enhance classes at load time.
    But some of the enhancements depends on possible enhancements to the super class.
    Example: under some coditions a method doWork() is inserted. This method did not exist in any class (doWork is just an example, I use a name that is not accepted by the compiler but allowed by the JLS).
      public class A {}
      public class B extends A {}If the method doWork() was inserted into class A, then the doWork() of B has to call doWork() of class A:
       super.doWork().Currently I try to load the base class by using
       loader.loadClass(superName.replace('/', '.'));this loads the super class but without passing my transformer !
    How can I solve this ?

    Looking at the comments in ClassFileTransformer.java and the code in ClassLoader, it seems the transformers are called only for class files that get a ClassFormatError. Transformers are intended to fix old broken/incompatible class files on the fly.
    I guess the intended way to do what you are doing is to define a custom class loader. Read class into byte[], transform, call defineClass() on the transformed byte[]. Google for java custom class loader for examples.

    @Op. The code that you posted isn't close to compiling. Java is case sensitive. It should be public and not Public, and return instead of Return.

  • The system cannot find the path specified - Problems

    I am having an issue that I am hoping someone can help figure out for me.
    I am currently learning Java, and am working with the Beginning Programming with Java for Dummies book second edition. I have downloaded and am running the Java 6 program and am using the JCreator 3.5Pro that was recommended to run the Practice files for the Dummies book.
    I have the practice files here:
    C/Program Files/Xinox Software/JCreatorV3/My Projects
    While trying to compile one of the practice files, I get this error message:
    --------------------Configuration: MyNewProject - JDK version 1.6.0_21 <Default> - <Default>--------------------
    javac: file not found: src_mynewproject.txt (The system cannot find the path specified)

    **When I try to execute, I get this error message:**

    When I set up the new file, and the new class, I confirmed the file path.
    I know most people will ask if I am absolutely certain I put in the code in properly, and yes I did. It was a matter of copying word for word, and punctuation. I did it 100% correctly. About 12 times. I have NO idea what this means, but I would REALLY REALLY appreciate any help on this.
    Please keep in mind, I am slightly clueless, and really need to have any help dumbed down a bit. Lol.
    As a side note, this isn't my first project, and I haven't had this problem before now.
    thanks in advance. =)

    So I wanted to clarify what I've done a bit more since I decided to redownload the dummies programs for the program and try again.
    I will try to list my steps in order of what I did and see if I've gone wrong somewhere along the line.
    I downloaded my project files from here: http://ca.dummies.com/store/product/Beginning-Programming-with-Java-For-Dummies-2nd-Edition.productCd-0764588745,navId-322469,descCd-DOWNLOAD.html
    I unzipped them this time here: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\MyProjects\
    I opened JCreator 3.5 and starting fresh, with all previous projects deleted and clicked on "Open Workspace". I chose "MyWorkspace.jcw". Right clicked MyWorkspace and chose "Add new Project" and then chose "Empty Project". As per the books instruction for the first project, I named it "MyFirstProject". My file path was: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\MyProjects\MyFirstProject. Which is where I upzipped the files. I added it to current workspace and clicked finish.
    I then added a new class. As per the books instructions, I right clicked "MyFirstProject" and selected Add New Class. For the name, I used MyFirstJavaClass, which is what the book told me to do. My locations are the exact same as above. and I clicked on Generate new Method, as it told me to. Which it doesn't in the next few lessons, so I know this has nothing to do with it. For that and a few other reasons. Lol.
    I clicked on Finish.
    All I had to do was replace a single line of code. Not type it all in this time.
    Here is what shows up on the screen:
    class MyFirstJavaClass {
         * Method main
         * @param args
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              // TODO: Add your code here
    I need to change the : // TODO: Add your code here
    with the line:
    System.out.println.("Chocolate, royalties, sleep");
    When I do this, and compile project, I get this:
    --------------------Configuration: MyFirstProject - JDK version 1.6.0_21 <Default> - <Default>--------------------
    javac: file not found: src_myfirstproject.txt (The system cannot find the path specified)
    Process completed.
    AGAIN! But it worked a few days ago.
    And when I execute, I get this:
    --------------------Configuration: MyFirstProject - JDK version 1.6.0_21 <Default> - <Default>--------------------
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: MyFirstJavaClass

  • What are the benefits of converting my custom class into Data Control?

    Hi,
    I have developed my own custom class which implements no of methods for execution of Business Logic. Now I have two ways to use the same -
    *1. Create and instance of the same (wherever required) and call those methods.*
    *2. Expose the class as Data Control.*
    I want to understand which methods/technique is better and why?
    Does creating that class as Data Control provides me better performance any other benefit.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Amit

    Hi,
    1. You use this if you don't want to use ADF bindings to access the business logic (e.g. to build input forms or table for it)
    2. You use this when you want to work with ADF. Additional benefits you gain is that you can specify UI control hints on the generated metadata, apply validation rules that are consistently applied to all uses of the POJO class. In addition you don't need to handle class instantiation and dismissal yourself anymore as the ADF framework takes care of it.
    The base line though is "no data control - no ADF binding"
