Accepting cookies?

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this one. I have a project where I need to interface with
a website, and extract particular information for users. This is a client side application
On one particular page the website wants to send me a cookie, but how do I
accept it ( programming wise )? If I can't accept the cookie, the webpage will not load, and thus I
can't get the rest of the information that I need.
Right now I'm using a URLConnection object to interface with the websiite. I'm mucking around
the java.net docs but I can't seem to find a way to accept a cookie.
Does anybody know a way to accept a cookie?

Try to look into the API for javax.servlet.http.Cookie, HttpServletRequest and HttpServletResponse.
You can accept the cookies using the following method
HttpServletResponse.getCookies()
which will returns an array containing all of the Cookie objects the client sent with the request. Iterate over the array and get the desired cookie.

  • I don't accept cookies except from "Exception" domains. However, it seems that any site that want to set a cookie is automatically added to my list of "Exceptions". Why is this?

I have "Accept cookies from sites" unchecked. I have a list of exceptions for domains that I allow to set cookies. However, it seems some site not on my exception list are automatically added to my list when they want to set cookies.
    Why/how is this happening?

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

Make sure you have the latest iTunes version installed and hopefully you have the most recent backup of your iPhone.  Do a DFU restore.  While it's plugged in to your computer, press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons together until the screen is off.  When the screen's off, release only the Sleep/Wake button and keep holding down the Home button.  Wait until you see in iTunes on your computer to show that it detected it in recovery mode.  When it does, proceed with the restore.  It will be restored and updated to the latest iOS 7.0.2.  If you have a backup, restore from that backup once iOS 7.0.2 is successfully installed on your iPhone.
If your iPhone still won't activate, I agree with gail, you will have to get in touch with that developer.

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

In my experience this is most of the times a server issue of the website provider.
Does this error occur on all Websites or just one specific Website?
Does this Website load in Internet Explorer (or any other Browser?)?

Since I did the Firefox reset, I try to open my email and it says, Your browser does not accept cookies. I have checked and done your suggested setting 100 times!

Note that a reset tries to migrate cookies to the new profile, so if you had previously as problem with cookies then the problem might have been carried over.
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the <i>cookies.sqlite</i> file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • Error message says redirecting to never ending loop may be due to refusal to accept cookies. How do I fix it?

I was trying to sign into Netflex. I entered all info and then enter, but got a message something to the effect that Firefox was redirecting my attempt in ways that would never complete. Suggested that it might me due to refusal to accept cookies. I remember yesterday it had asked to allow a cookie from somewhere but said I already had many cookies from them, so I clicked on disallow.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.<br />

  • Web site still says that Firefox doesn't accept cookies

    Hi,
The web page mail.hitmessaging.net/ suddenly says that Firefox doesn't accept cookies so I followed all your instructions on this page
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Websites%20say%20cookies%20are%20blocked
and restarted the browser and then the computer but the problem remains. I clicked OK after having changed the settings in "Tools"-"Privacy" exactly as you recommend (I have double-checked) but when I open that menu again the changed settings haven't been saved. The setting is still "Remember history" instead of "Use customer settings for history" no matter how many times I try to change the setting. I'm using the Swedish version of Firefox 6 and I didn't have this problem with any home page before upgrading to Firefox 6.
    Best regards,

  • Firefox 18.0.1 no longer accepts cookies from wells fargo

firefox 18.0.1 does not accept cookies when I open the online site. If I go to tools/options and click OK then the cookies are accepted and I can log on. I have keep until I close Firefox checked. This problem does not occur on other sites like AMEX for example.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the <b>about:permissions</b> page.
You can remove all stored data from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions from that domain, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

  • Yahoo mail login says Firefox won't accept cookies but my option is too accept cookies - so what's wrong?

My wife and I can't log into our Yahoo e-mail accounts (or, I guess, our Yahoo account). Whenever we try, we get the message: "The browser you're using refuses to sign in (cookies rejected)".
However, my cookies setting in Firefox is: 1) accept cookies 2) accept third-party cookies 3) keep cookies until they expire.
A few days ago I did change the cookie settings to 1) accept cookies from sites 2) do not accept cookies from sites 3) ask me every time. I also deleted a lot of cookies I didn't recognize or didn't want. I did this because I was (and still am) having trouble with a re-direction virus.
So if anyone has any suggestions as to what needs to be done to make Yahoo e-mail accessible again I would very much appreciate their advice.
I thank everyone for their advice in advance.
    Thanks a million.

Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
*Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with a left click.
    OR
*Press ''Ctrl'' + ''F5'' or ''Ctrl'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Windows and Linux)
    *Press ''Command'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Mac)

  • Connot get it to accept cookies; privacy settings are re-set each time after I change them. How can I get the privacy setting to stick and accept cookies?

I need to accept cookies to log into a technical site. I clear all cookies and the history and follow the instructions for setting privacy options to "Use custom settings for history" and to accept all cookies. When I go back to try logging into the site, it still tells me cookies aren't accepted. When I go back to Options-Privacy, the setting has been changed back to "Remember history" from "Use custom settings for history". I have done this about 5 times, trying various options, closing Firefox after making the change and starting it again - nothing works. How can I get the privacy settings to stay as I set them and accept cookies?

Blocking all cookies in Safari does not work. Deleted cookies will not stay deleted. There are numerous threads on this going back years, both in these forums and elsewhere. Many claim to have submitted the issue to Apple, but I have never seen anyone post a reply.
I have seen many suggested fixes that involve finding the cookies file, some including Terminal manipulations, and none seems to work universally. I can find noplace where Apple addresses this officially with an actual Apple-approved explanation or how-to.
Bottom line, your browser's security features should do what they claim: delete cookies. When they come back without ever even visiting another page, this is clearly not working in the way a reasonable user would expect.
Bottom line, Safari does not protect users' privacy in the way it pretends to and, after so many years of this issue, it appears that Apple wants it this way.
Having spent way too much time on this, I realize the choice is between Safari which is pretty well optimized; Firefox which is a lot pokier, at least for me; and Chrome, which I assume funnels personal information directly to Google.

  • I want to configure Firefox to only accept cookies from a specific list of websites, but my "Allow Exceptions" list is deleted when Firefox closes.

I want to configure Firefox to only accept cookies from a specific list of websites, but my "Allow Exceptions" list is deleted when Firefox closes. (Firefox 5.0)

    @dmcritchie:
''How do you expect to keep cookies for certain sites, if you wipe out all of your cookies when the session ends or you clear the same history through the Tools menu''
If you mean from session-to-session, I don't expect it to keep cookies. That's the whole point. Every time Firefox is opened, I want it to write a new cookie, and keep that cookie until it closes and no longer than that. (Perhaps I should clarify: I don't mean session in the networking sense but rather in the period of time when one starts using Firefox until Firefox closes.) The behavior I want is for it to be able to write cookies when open, but only for specific sites, and then forget about them on close.
I should also mention that your responses are worthless to me because you don't explain anything. For instance, the quote above is ''not'' obvious from your reply of "Make sure you are not clearing cookies". You need to explain this; what is obvious in a reading for you is not obvious for everyone.
Furthermore, how is "Site Preferences" related to "everything on the right-side"? (Not to mention that it's unclear what you mean by "right-side.")

  • Safari not accepting cookies from Blaze + Spring

    Hi,
I have a facebook game with BlazeDS, Spring and Hibernate and in Firefox, Chrome and IE is working perfect.
    But in Safari doesn't work.
If I put the Cookie Settings of Safari to Always accept cookies it works.
But if my configuration is in "Only sites I visit" it doesn't work.
The weird thing here is that I visit the page from the game, so clearly it should be accepted.
The Arquitecture of the Game is an Apache with the SWF and then another Server that is running Java with Blaze.
Does anyone have any clue about this?

I followed this thread and I made it work.
