Accesing an RFC from webdynpro throws exception

I am trying to call an RFC from Webdynpro which in turn calls another RFC in another system.....
Example:
I am calling an RFC function thats exists in XYZ system from webdynpro. This RfC function is calling another RFC function that exists in ABC system.
The webdynpro application throws an exception
Exception thrownAccessing System ABC is not possible because RFC Metadata was retrieved using System XYZ. Please assure you have configured the RFC Connections properly. A Server restart may be necessary!

as Jochen mentioned, it is not possible to run the same model against different backends within the same application.
But you do have an option to get your problem solved:
import only those RFCs into a single model, which will definitely run against the same system. In your case, you would import two models, each containing the RFCs targeted for only one system.
Next, you would define individual logical system names. Iow, two distinct metadata destinations, and two distinct application data destinations. One model would use one metadata/appdata destination pair, the other model uses the other metadata/appdata destination pair.
The only downside of this, is that you can not reference data from one model in the other model (because they ly in different java packages). But if you use the WDCopyService, you can still copy data from one model into the input structure of the RFC of the other model.
This is also the suggested design pattern for your problem.

When i run the standalone FM, it works fine and When called from Webdynpro its giving a dump saying an exception is raised in the class CL_GUI_SPLITTER_CONTAINER.
Can you please let me know how to resolve the issue? Your siggestions will be of great help to me.

Hi,
The FM might be calling a dialog or bringing a GUI screen up. This would cause the Webdynpro session to disconnect abruptly.
Any conversion exit, GUI screen,dialog popup, transaction handling..etc would cause the webdynpro to disconnect. So you cannot use all FM's as it is.

How to get the complete data from Webdynpro using a RFC

hi guys,
A form is created in the webdynpro, when that pdf form is called the user have to provide the key field ie the employee number in the form and then when he press the 'go' button a rfc is called and it gives all the details of the employee in the form. Then the user have to input some fields in the form and he have press the submit button. My problem is here, when the user is going to press the submit button that form will be converted to a stream (binary) of data and it is sent to one of the import parameter used in the RFC.
I have created a RFC and created a import parameter of data type XSTRING, since i want to see what exactly R3 is receiving from web dynpro i am writing this contant in the sever as a text file. When i saw that text file i cant see the complete data.
And when i searched in R3 the capacity of xstring is 1024 CHAR, so i dont know how to capture the entire data from webdynpro into my R3.
I give the code what i worte please tell me am i missing anything in my code, or is there any data type which can hold more than 500kb of data which is coming from webdynpro.

You have to convert your long string to a table of shorter strings.
There may be other ways, but one possibility is to use a loop to process you string.
while (there is something left)
   put the next e.g. 1024 characters in a new row of your table
endwhile
If you need to reconstruct your string from the table, don't use simple concatenation since it will remove blanks at the end of lines. Believe me (from experience) sooner or later this will happen.
Instead you need to either set the subsections of your long string, or insert from the end of your table and keep shifting the contents (probably less efficient) right

We want to call RFC in R/3 from webdynpro ABAP.
How can we do that?
We are developing the web report using webdynpro abap.
So we need some of R/3 data such like PR(EBAN)and PO(EKKO,EKPO).
When user choose the search parameter, report diplay the Shopping cart, PR and PO data on webdynpro. So we call the R/3 RFC to display the PR, PO data.
But I tired to call the RFC in R/3, We could not call it.
How to call the RFC from R/3 to SRM, when we use webdynpro abap?

How to import Table from Webdynpro to RFC?

In my application there is one RFC that has one import parameter String and a Table for import/export data from webdynpro.
The context of model node and attributes is as follows
A (Root Model Node for RFC)
|....B (Model Sub Node for Output)
    |....C (Model Sub Node for Table)
        |....x (Model attribute)
        |....y (Model attribute)
Table structure in RFC is same as Model node C.
Before Executing RFC using
wdContext.currentAElement().modelObject().execute();
In Java end how to set or add data to x,y attribute so that RFC can get those values from table and insert into the ABAP table.

I am reading notepad: getting all column and values in my data table now while inserting for date and time or integer field i need to do explicit conversion how to write for specific column before bulkcopy.WriteToServer(dt);
Issue 2:- Notepad does not contains all columns nor in specific sequence in that case i can add few column ehich i am doing now but the issue is now data table will add my columns + notepad columns and while inserting how to assign in perticular colums?

I think you'll have to do an explicit column mapping if they are not in exact sequence in both source and destination.

am doing same thing for my current SRM implementation.I am taking data to SRM server from another R/3 server .
This is solution I have used
1) First of all I have made ABAP connection in SM59 .
Go to SM59 .In ABAP Connection creat ABAP connection with system with which u want communicate .
Eg I am connection with Systems PB1.
So i developed Connection call PB1CLNT800.
2) In my requirement I have taken data in my context from another r/3,
I have give called RFC in my supply function of node.
Call to RFC is as usual.
In my case,
CALL FUNCTION 'RFC_MATNR'
DESTINATION 'PB1CLNT800'
TABLES
IT_MATNR = IT_MATNR.
Onwards I have read my itab IT_MATNR and populated data to context.
Hope solution will serve your purpose.
Give point if it works .If any problem i have other ways.

Webservice Exception from Webdynpro

Hi,
We are on 7.1 SP04 Patch 1. We have created a webservice with http and None Authentication and deployed on EP 7.0 server. We have set a constant User Name and Password in Visual Admin.
We are able to execute this webservice successfully from Webservice navigator.
We have developed a Webdynpro appln with this webservice. We are getting an exception when the webservice is getting executed from Webdynpro appln.
"Exception on execution of webservice with WSDL url '<wsdl url>' with operation 'webservice name' in interface"
We checked in the trace file and got the following message
com.sap.mdm.logging.MdmLogger warning
WARNING: PingServerCommand failed
Have any one faced this issue?

Hi Walter,
The webservices are developed using MDM Webservice generator. The webdnpro application has to access MDM Data using MDM Webservices / MDM Java APIs.
This was working fine with MDM 7.1 SP03. Now we have upgraded to MDM 7.1 SP04.
When I try to access MDM Data from webdynpro using MDM Java API commands, I am getting an exception at AuthenticateUserSession Command. While access using MDM Webservices, I am getting an webservice exception and an entry in trace file.

Geeting exception while executing BPM webservice from webdynpro.

I have created a webservice to start BPM process.
If I am testing from webservice navigator it works fine and BPM task gets created in my UWL. But when I execute this webservice from webdynpro I get the below error
Exception on execution of web service with WSDL URL 'http://pepu56:50000/bpm/demosapcom/lngtranslationprocess/StartService?wsdl' with operation 'NewOperation' in interface 'TranslateBPMWSDLFile'
Please note that : I have deleted the output part from both binding and PortType section of this webservice.

I was doing a silly mistake. I was not running my webdynpro application from portal. I was running my application through "Deploy new archive and run" option.
I got this clue to run this app after login into portal from the fact that when I was running webservice from WSNavigator I was prompted to pass user credential to execute this service. I had not given any authentication option while creating web service, so just guessed if I run it from portal my user credentials might be taken. And it worked for me.
I really don't know why I was asked for user credentials in WSNavigator and how my user credentils would have taken when I ran this app from portal. But this is how I am not getting this error.

CyaYou can't throw checked exceptions, because obviously the code responsible for invoking the run() method wouldn't know what to do with it, and you wouldn't be the one to catch them. You can however throw unchecked exceptions (such as those based on RuntimeException).

Passing parameters from webdynpro to rfc and displaying pdf in portal

Hi Jayesh,
The rfc you are using should have a imput parameter that takes the user id as a parameter. When you import the rfc in webdynpro you will get an input class for the rfc. The parameter will either be in the input class itself or in a seperate structure which should also have a class separetely.
For example the rfc name is GET_USER_DETAILS
The input class will something like
INPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS
There will also be an ouput class like
OUTPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS
If there is a structure there will be class for that structure like
STUSER
If the parameter is in the INPUT CLASS then
after you initialize the class you can assign it to the input object
For Example
INPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS inp = new INPUT_GET_USER_DETAILS
inp.setUserID(userid)
If it is in the structure then
STUSER st = new STUSER
st.setUserID(userid)
Then assign the structure object to the input object
inp.setStUser(st)
About the PDF document.
When you create a PDF form you will create a label or an text field in the form.
The label or the text field will be mapped to the context of the view.
You can assign the username to the context variable which will be reflected in the pdf document.

The only to throw an exception from a sub process is by leveraging the Exception event (from the event view).
You need to throw the exception, by dragging the Exception event and choose Throw into your subprocess. Then you need to add an exception "catcher" in the parent process to catch the Exception.

Change the mode to updateDatainPdf and verify. Also check with BASIS folks if they have installed Reader Rights credential for using Interactive forms.
