Access InfoObject with Java

Hello to all access-bw-with-java-professionals,
how is it possible to access InfoObjects with the Java BI SDK (not with JCo, Java and ABAP)? Can you also access ODS-Objects directly with Java?
We have a SAP WebAS Java 6.40 with the java application running on it and a SAP BW 3.1 which we want to access.
Thanks for all tips&hints,
Volker
ps: The reason why we need to access these objects is because we have to write our own persistence-layer, because we cannot use something like Hibernate. At least we do not know that something similar exists...

I want to know what PAM is
because I want to answer the questionI think it stands for something like "Pluggable
Authentication Module" or something like that.
It's a modular authentication system.
That's from memory. For real answers, try using
Google.
A java interface to PAM would be interesting.Technically JAAS is an implementation of a PAM.
http://java.sun.com/products/jaas/index-10.html
http://java.sun.com/security/jaas/doc/pam.html
That will not help the poster in this case though, since he seems to be interested in one specific implementation of a PAM, running on linux, for which I have found no java implementation.

  • Known problems or limits regarding accessing BDB with Java via JNI

    Hi,
    we are currently in an evalutation phase and are planning to use BDB (C|JE) as back-end for a queueing system. This system is written in Java. One key requirement is high availability of the data hold in the back-end. We need the guarantee, that no data is lost, e.g. data added after checkpoints. The throughput is expected to be quite high (> 10.000.000 records hold within one single BDB-environment (we would use n parallel BDB-envs inside the service).
    So i'm wondering about using JE or DB... The former doesn't provide a replication system but is a 100%-pure Java implementation, the latter is written in C and accessed via JNI, which adds some overhead and maybe instability issues but comes with an integrated replication system. JE would require us to develop an in-application replication system or to use a DFS for HA or something like that.
    Are there any known issues regarding using DB with Java via JNI? Or any other hints?
    TIA,
    Dirk

    Silly me, I forgot to mention that a null return value means that an exception was thrown so you should get that and print the value (although I suspect it will be "class not found").

  • How to create a ms-access table with java?

    hi all
    i've my application and i want to add the capability to creat an access file (.mdb) and then, via SQL , create a table, with many columns of many types, and with a primary key too.
    i know that it's also an SQL problem, but i'm searching for it everywhere
    thanx for your reply

    Hi,
    It would have been much better if you had specified your development environment- the database driver class depends on which environment you are working with. Forexample, if you are working with vj++6 you can make use of the com.ms.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver class. If you are using IBM's Visual Age for Java3.5 you can find the sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver. Oneway or another you should have the .class for jdbc-odbc(usu they have the form: xxx:jdbc:odbc:JdbcOdbcDriver). Check all the packages that are available in your development environment that have the form xxx.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver.(And not clear what you know and what you don't - so I start from the very elementary steps)
    Anyways, What you have to know is that it is not possible to create databases (e.g. .mdb) directly from a Java application(as far as I know). What is possible is to create new tables inside an already created database and process queries based on those tables.In short what I am saying is : you need to have a DSN before writing applications that create tables.
    Follow the following steps to create DSN(for win2000):
    1)Go to the control panel and click the 'administrative tools'
    2)In the 'administrative tools' click to open ODBC(data sources)
    3)Click the 'add' button and choose 'Microsoft Access driver'
    4)In the DSN text field enter the dsn (e.g., Test)
    5)If you want to create a table in an already existing database choose select and select one. However, if you want to create a new database click 'create' and enter a name for your database(e.g. ExampleDB.mdb). If you do this successfully it will issue a successfull operation message.
    6)Click advanced and enter the login name(e.g. Albert) and password(e.g. mxvdk) for the database
    7)Click 'ok's to finish the operation.
    After the above three operations what you will have is an empty database(with no tables) named "ExampleDB.mdb" in the directory you specified.
    Now, you can write a java application that creates a table inside the database "ExampleDB.mdb".
    Check this out:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class Class1{
    public Class1(){
    String userName = "Albert";
    String password = "mxvdk";
    String dsn = "Test";
    String databaseURL = "jdbc:odbc:"+dsn;
    //This is just an sql table creating statement- have nothing to do with java
    String sqlCreateStmt = "CREATE TABLE StudentTable" +
    "(StudentID varchar(32) PRIMARY KEY," +
    "name varchar(30)," +
    "age int)";
         try{
         Class.forName("com.ms.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
         }catch(ClassNotFoundException eCNF){
              System.err.println("ClassNotFoundException:");
              System.err.println(eCNF.getMessage());
         try{
         con = DriverManager.getConnection(databaseURL,userName,password);
         stmt = con.createStatement();
         stmt.executeUpdate(sqlCreateStmt);
         }catch(SQLException e){
    System.err.println("SQLException:");
    e.printStackTrace();
         //insert one sample data
    insertSampleData();
    private void insertSampleData(){
         String sampleStudentID = "scr-342-tch";
         String sampleStudentName = "Tom James";
         int sampleStudentAge = 24;
    //This is just an sql table updating statement- have nothing to do with java
         String sqlUpdateStmt = "INSERT INTO StudentTable VALUES ('"+
                             sampleStudentID+"','"+
                             sampleStudentName+"',"+
                             sampleStudentAge+")";
         try{
              stmt.executeUpdate(sqlUpdateStmt);
              }catch(SQLException e){
              System.err.println("SQLException:");
              e.printStackTrace();
    public static void main(String[] args){
    new Class1();
    private Connection con;
    private Statement stmt;
    //This program runs perfectly in my VJ++6.0 (console application mode) and also in my IBM's
    //visual Age for Java3.5 (with sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver as my database driver)
    //If you are developing in another development environment, what you need to change is the
    //"com.ms.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" in Class.forName("com...") stmt.
    //If you run this program more than once, it will issue 'tableAlreadyExists' message

  • How to connect with Microsoft Access Database with JAVA

    I want to know the command and query to connect between MSAccess and JDBC.
    Is it beter way to make connection with MSAccess comparing with other Databases such as SQL and Oracle.
    Which Database will be the best with Java?
    I also want to know to be platform indepadent which database is suitable?

    On Windows, you can use MS Access database by:
    Set up a System Data Source using the ODBC control panel applet.
    Use the jdbc:odbc bridge JDBC driver, and specify a jdbc url that points to the data source name you just specified.
    It's been too long since I've done this, so I don't remember the syntax of the jdbc url, but I'm sure that if you do a search for the jdbc:odbc bridge that you will find what you are looking for.
    As far as the question about which database is best, you will need to determine that based on your project requirements.
    If you want a quick and dirty, open source, cross-platform database, take a look at HyperSonic SQL.

  • Answers access with Java (to enable more complex reports)?

    Hello and thanks for reading,
    I was wondering if there is a possibility to access BI Answers with Java (or an other procedural language) in order to realize more complex reports than what is possible with the graphical user interface.
    Is there an alternative way to access BI Answers in order to build reports, which provides one with a great flexibility in report design?
    Thanks for ideas
    Evgeny

    Are you trying to build more complex reports in OBIEE?
    If you need to customize the obiee you can do by editing the html files in BI server and data folders. You can add ur own html code and tags there. Also to achive more complex formating you can use OBIEE Publisher that will let you to create your own rtf or pdf templates and upload it to the dashboards
    Hope it helps

  • How to access vc dll with java

    I need to access vc dll with java. Now I only have *.h,*.lib, *.dll,no *.cpp,because the dll is from others. I cann't modify the *.cpp files for java. so what should I do .
    Best wishes.

    Create a JNI wrapper for rhe dll:
    1)Create a java class that defines methods that correspond to the methds in the c++ dll
    2)compile this, and compile it with the jni compiler to get the c++ header files.
    3)Create a C++ file that implements the methods defined in the header file, calling the c++ code as necesssary and using the JNI helpess to translate parameters from java form to C++ from.
    4)Perform any initialisation of th c++ dll by adding a DllMain() or equivalent under unix/linux
    5)create a makefile to build a dll from the above, linking to your import (.lib) library
    6)make sure both DLLs are with your java class files when you run the java app.

  • Access JAR File while running App with Java Web Start

    Hello guys,
    I want to delpoy my application so that I can run it when I click on the appropriate button in a web page.
    I have a Jar file for all the files that the app needs. No, not all of the files are included.
    Indeed, I use JAR files such jdom.jar or postgres...jar that I must use in within my application.
    How can I access these JAR files knowing that I can't point to files in a JAR file A from within a JAR file B, if the JAR file B contains the JAR file A?
    The main JAR file that I put on the web server can be seen as the JAR file B and the other JAR files must be stored somewhere for the java classes within the main JAR file to have access to them.
    I wonder whether there is another way to structure the project.
    Thanks.

    Hi Andrew.
    I have followed your suggestions and here is what my .jnlp file look like:
    <tt>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="http://localhost:8080/koedops" href="beta.jnlp">
         <information>
              <title>KOEDOPS</title>

              <homepage href="http://localhost:8080/" />
              <description>Downloading koedops with Java Web Start</description>
         </information>
         <resources>
              <j2se version="1.6+" />
              <jar href="beta.jar" main="true"/>
              <jar href="jcalendar-1.3.3.jar" />
              <jar href="jdom.jar" />
              <jar href="postgresql-8.4-701.jdbc4.jar" />
         </resources>
         <application-desc main-class="general.Application" />
    </jnlp>
    </tt>
    The three other jar-files reside in the same directory as the .jnlp file and the beta.jar file on the tomcat server.
    When I launch the application though nothing happens upon the download. In contrast, if I change the main class to a class file that requires no extra library, it runs perfectly.
    I can't be sure whether the jar-files are successfully accessed.

  • Flex with Java - DB data access

    Hello, folks,
    I am developing a Java application and realized that I need
    some advice. My application is simple:
    I have a MSSQL server, tomcat 5.5 ,flex data services.
    In my application , i have two combo boxes.. country, town..
    i have populated the country combobox with the values from
    DB(country table) obtained using the fill(List ListArgs) in
    Assembler Class.
    Now, based on the country selected in have to populate my
    town combobox from (town table)
    How can i populate the town combobox from the DB based on the
    country code?
    Is there any function to pass the selected index and populate
    the town combo box..????
    My code is as below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="

    </mx:ComboBox>
    <mx:Label x="10" y="126" text="Town / City :"
    fontFamily="Georgia" alpha="0.12"/>
    <mx:ComboBox id="town" x="94" y="124" fontSize="10"
    dataProvider="{town_list}"
    labelField="townName" prompt="London WC1" >
    </mx:ComboBox>
    </mx:Canvas>
    </mx:TabNavigator>
    </mx:Form>
    </mx:Panel>
    </mx:Application>
    this is my main.mxml . I have CountryAssembler to fill the
    country combo and a DAO class . Have a Town assembler..
    Please advice me on how to populate the town combo based on
    country selected from the DB...
    I am really stuck up... and also dont have any documentation
    on Flex data services with Java support..
    please give me some suggestions on this.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ambili

    Hi Mete,
    Thanks for ur reply , Mete. Your reply helped me a lot. Am
    using FDS 2.0.
    I have a doubt in combo box area itself.
    I have two tables by name country_list and town_list
    country_list consists of identity column , country_name and
    country_code
    town_list has identity column, country_code, town_code and
    town_name
    Normally while we use combobox in jsp, we have key value
    pairs for combo box..
    For eg:- if we have a Country combo , we have the country
    name(United States) as text displayed and its country code (US) as
    key.
    So if i select the United States , i will be returned with
    the value 'US' so that i can use it in query directly as
    Select town_name, town_code from town_list where country_code
    ='US'
    But while using flex , am not able to retieve the
    country_code from country combo. its only returning the text and
    the id.
    Here am forced to write a nested query as follows
    Select town_name, town_code from town_list where country_code
    =( Select country_code from country_list where country_name='United
    States')
    Is there any way to get the country_code as key while i
    select the country from country combo .
    And also how to keep 'United States' as selected during the
    intial load of the page.
    <mx:ArrayCollection id="cntry_list"/>
    <mx:ComboBox x="93" y="89" fontSize="10" id="Country"
    dataProvider="{cntry_list}"
    labelField="countryName"
    creationComplete="ds.fill(cntry_list)"
    prompt="Select Country" />
    please give me some suggestions on this.
    Thanks in Advance,

  • Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
    I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
    During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
    The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :
    <code>
    cd PATH TO PROGRAM
    start javaw -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmn100M -Xms500M -Xmx1000M -jar "PATH TO PROGRAM\program.jar" %1 -vram 134217728
    pause;
    </code>
    Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
    The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
    On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
    Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
    Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.
    Regards
    Joey

    Ok so i've kinda found a solution, its not ideal but its very good. I found this program called Elevate
    A link to the site I got it was
    http://www.wintellect.com/cs/blogs/jrobbins/archive/2007/03/27/elevate-a-process-at-the-command-line-in-vista.aspx
    This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
    Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
    This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job.

  • Problems with java and SQL

    Hi all. Not sure if I should ask this here or in an SQL forum. Im trying to manipulate an access database through java via the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver. The program compiles ok but when I try to execute it I get an error. According to the error there is a syntax problem in my SQL create table statement but it doesnt tell what the problem is and Ive looked over the create statement and cant find anything wrong with it. There is, however, an error code from the driver but I have no way of referencing it. Anyone here know why otherwise normal SQL code would cause a syntax error with java or how I can track the error to get a hint at whats going wrong? Here is the code and the error:

  • XSLT Mapping with Java Enhancement

    Hi All
    I am working on XSLT Mapping with Java Enhancement.
    To do this scenario i have followed the following link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/55/7ef3003fc411d6b1f700508b5d5211/frameset.htm
    As per the above link I have created Source and Target Data Types , Message Types , Mesage Interfaces, XSLT Mapping (using the transaction XSLT_TOOL) and Interface Mapping part and configred a simple file to file scenario in the ID part.
    Apart from this I have wirte the java code, compile the java code, create the jar file using .java and .class file and after creating the jar file import the .jar file in the imported archive of the IR..
    when I am trying to execute the scenario I am getting the successful message in SXMB_MONI but the target file is having the payload as given below.
    <?xml version ="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <name xmlns:javamap="java:com.company.group.MappingClass"/>
    And as per the XSLT mapping the payload should be as below
    <?xml version ="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <person>
    <name>Rinku Gangwani</name>
    </person>
    I have also followed the following blog link but still i am getting the same issue
    /people/pooja.pandey/blog/2005/06/27/xslt-mapping-with-java-enhancement-for-beginners
    could you please tell me what can be the reason that i am getting the blank targt field values in the payload.
    Thanks
    Rinku Gangwani

    Hi,
      The Transaction code XSLT_TOOL for ABAP xslt mapping.But the Java Enhancement is used for normal xslt mapping which we created using Stylus Studio.You can not access the Java Enhancement in ABAP xslt mapping.
    If you want to use Java Enhancement in xslt mapping then create a xslt mapping using Stylus Studio and save the file as .xsl and zip the .xsl and import to import archive.

  • Should we avoid Graphical mapping and stick with Java mapping?

    After developing mappings in XI for a month, I just don't see any good reasons to use Graphical mappings over Java mappings. Maybe some experienced users here can give me some valid reasons why we should choose Graphical mappings. Here is what I think:
    Disadvantages of Graphical mappings:
    1. No way to perform automated unit testings. This is probably the biggest reason I hate it. You can do some tests manually when you work in Integration Builder. But there is no way you can write some unit testing utilities to automate the task.
    2. Complexity. Even for some simple requirements, your Graphical mappings can become complicated and hard to understand. A lot of times, I find myself staring at several dozens of graphical nodes and try to understand what it does.
    3. Impossible to reuse. This is totally against the DRY (Don't repeat yourself) principle. For example, to generate messages for JDBC adapter, it is common to have two identical fields for primary keys: one in the access node and another in the key node. If you change the mapping logic in one, you have to remember to change the other.
    Advantage with Java mappings:
    1. Fully automated unit testing. You can create JUnit tests along with your Java mapping classes and use Maven or other build tools to perform automated unit testing.
    2. Your choice of XML parsing and binding. With Java mapping, you can choose any open source framework for XML parsing and binding. For example, with XMLBeans, I can convert XML input message to a Java object, transform to another Java object and write to output message. And each Java object is generated from its corresponding XML schema.
    3. Highly reusable. We can use fundamental object-oriented designs to create highly reusable mapping components.
    4. Better version control. Since the mappings are just Java classes, we can use CVS or SVN to track code changes.
    5. Better build tools. We can fully utilize build tools like Ant and Maven to automate the build, unit tests, or even generate documents and mapping web sites.
    So do you guys agree? Maybe I am still new to XI or I am missing some important things. But at this point, I just don't see why I should use Graphical mappings. Is there anyone developing XI interfaces completely with Java mappings?
    Thanks in advance for any comments!

    Hi Suraj,
    > Since its graphical the blocks will take space, but
    > there is always an adavntage of processing time.
    > Ebven though it may appear bigger, it will take less
    > time as compared with Java code (for the same
    > mapping).
    Could you explain more why the graphical mapping has better performance? I thought the graphical mapping is compiled into a Java class in the runtime anyway.
    > Yes thats there, but same goes with Java mapping too
    > right (if you haven't mentioned it as constants)
    I mainly think about inheritance. If I have to build 10 interfaces and they all have some common behavior, I can create a base interface class to encapsulate the common logic. But with graphical mapping, you have to duplicate them in each interface.
    > Disadvantages of Java mapping:
    > 1. Performance
    Same as above. I just don't see why Java has worse performance. I actually think Java should have better performance. You can optimize the code anyway you want. In some cases, you have to use queue functions in graphical mapping but it's not necessary in Java.
    > 2. All might not be well versed with Java Code(though
    > everyone may know basic java) .
    I am not asking everyone to abandon graphical mapping. I am just wondering which one is better when you have skills for both.
    > 3. Lot of standard functions are available in GM
    > which you can choose, but you have to remember the
    > exact code for those in Java mapping.
    You can create functions in Java too. All you have to do is to remember the function name.
