Access other user (schema) object

hai all
i have two users in the same sever user1,user2.(10g)
i want to use user1.package in user2.
how can I ? Is it the right way or any other way it possible?
if i give like user2.user.pack.procedure();
itis giving the compilation error worng no of arguments

if remove that block was complied.
try these steps.. in sequence..
1 - Grant Execute on Procedure_name to User2
2 - Check the number of Arguments which you are passing in the Procedure (specifically for the non default parameters)
3 - Check whether you passing the parameters in the correct manner or not (position wise)
Or.. if again the error exists do.. post the parameters which ur trying to pass..

Of course you can't: The file permissions and ownership are set correctly.
Before somebody tells you how, one question: Why look at other people's files?
I'm uncomfortable telling somebody how to invade another person's privacy without hearing/having good reason to do so.
(They can put files they want to share in the Shared folder.)

Accessing Other user's public folders

I am connected to an ethernet network at my college. Can anyone tell me how I can access other user's folders? I am doing a project with another friend who also has a mac and it would be much easier to simply access his folder for documents than for us to e-mail them back and forth constantly. One more question, does the other computer have to be a mac, or can I access a PC as well.

Experiment: (public plan table exists)
create user bob identified by bob;
grant create session to bob;
connect bob/bob
start sample_plan
If will error off on the table being read in the plan
connect dba_or_privileged_user
grant select on the referenced_table(s) to bob;
connect bob/bob
start sample_plan
It will now work providing a public plan table exists or you give bob create table and create a bob.plan_table
I ran the experiment on Oracle version 9.2.0.6 running on AIX 5.3. Select privilege on all referenced tables in the explained SQL must exist

DBA role required to see indexes in Other Users schema

When my developers try to view indexes owned by other users that are unable to see them unless the have been added to the DBA Role. Is this a requirement to view indexes owned by others? Are there lesser privs than DBA that will allow this?

The developer already has this privilege. Using other development tools he can see the indexes in other schemas. It appears to be a problem or setting in SQL Developer. We are running version 1.2.1. Any other thoughts?

Edit tables in other user schema

Hello all,
Is there a way to allow a user to edit tables for another user?? For example, suppose user A has tables X, Y and Z. I need user B to be able to edit those tables in SQL Developer.
I have granted user B everything on A's tables, but once user B log to SQL Developer-> Other Users -> Tables. Right click any table and choose edit, an error message is displayed "The database user has insufficient privileges for the given operation"
I am kindly asking for help regarding this issue.

I do believe so. I have tried to grant select any dictionary to the user and he still can not edit the tables in the other schema.
I do hope Oracle solve this if it is a bug.

How do you access other users' apps, files, etc.

I tried to, but it says it's locked. Basically, since my other family uses different keyboard layouts (U.S. instead of Dvorak for instance) I wanted them to please switch to their user. Also I didn't want them to have access to my Gmail (I could sense that they were peaking at it). So I would like to move some of the apps from mine to there with all its passwords saved and then remove the passwords to my personal accounts. We have different YouTube accounts as well so it's a challenge to log out and log in.

I don't have Chrome, but most browsers will import bookmarks from Safari etc. Look for an Import function (probably under the File menu.
If you are looking to add bookmarks from another user account, you need to open the browser from that account and export or backup the bookmarks there. You can then put that file into the users Shared folder where you will be able to access it from other user accounts.

Hi Nick,
So you would need all the other users inbox items to be displayed in your SBWP rite?
You can do this by substitution. Please follow the below steps.
Go to SBWP of the user whose inbox you want to see.
SBWP -> settings -> office settings -> Substitution -> Add ur inbox in the substitute field and substitute all authorizations .(Check for the End date as well).
You need to follow the same for all the other users.
After this, Log in your SBWP and check if you are able to see all the user's inboxes or not.

Limiting the Report Layout access other than Authorization Object S_ALV_LAYO

Dear Experts,
We have an issue of Layout Access limit to Users coz unwittingly these are being deleted.
(Example: IW39 à after F8 à Settings à Layout.)
The Authorization object S_ALV_LAYO which limits the access, has been defined in the multiple Roles, where every User been assigned with these Roles across Three Continents.
Instead of hampering the existing Streamlined Roles, looking for other Options since if it may give odd behaviour after modifying the Roles then all the Users across the continents will be effected.
It will be grateful if we get other options to limit the Layout access instead of controlling through Authorization Object.

The Global Roles has maintained with Authorization Object (S_LAYO_ALV) and these are been assigned to Every User coz all Users should access these reports.
So now every User has maintained with the Authorization Object to access.
Now we are trying to Control the Access to limited Users through without hampering the well maintained/streamlined Roles, since if any adverse effects on the modified roles may impact to all the Users across the continents.
Looking for other options.

ACCESSING OTHER USER'S TABLES

I have to access user B's tables, and I don't have DBA previleges.
How can I do that?
Is it B or DBA that should grant me permission for doing this ?

User B has to grant you the priviledges for accessing his/her tables to you.
DBA can do the same to you as DBA has priviledge for all tables.

Letting users access other users home directories

Hello,
I am currently setting up an xserve at a school and I am running into some problems. I want to let the group teachers be able to access all of the students home directories. I added to the permissions the group teachers for the users folders, but the permissions do not carry through all subfolders. What would be the best way to set up these permissions in tiger server?

When sharing a desired folder for automounting networked home directores the default POSIX values are:
Owner: root/admin R/W (can be either)
Group: admin Read Only
Everyone Read Only
Going beyond this folder and you can then view the default attributes for individual folders. These should be:
Owner: the persons name Read & Write
Group: admin Read Only
Everyone: None
This is as it should be and you should leave these alone. In the situation you describe it makes sense to grant Read/Write access for teachers so as students work can be marked and/or assessed. In which cae you want to preserve the POSIX permissions but use an additional permissions model that allows access withour breaking the default permissions.
10.4 Server allows for this as Access Control Lists (ACLs) are available once you enable them for the volume that has the shared folder for automounting networked home folders on it. WorkGroup Manager > Sharing > General. Select the volume and tick the box that says 'Enable Access Control Lists on this volume'. When you have done this, restart the Server. Enabling/Disabling ACLs on any volume should always be followed by a restart.
On successful log in launch WorkGroup Manager, select Sharing, select folder you are interested and and select Access. Below the Standard POSIX model there is a window. This window is where you add desired users or groups (or a mix of both) and define what access they have to the selected folder. At the bottom of this window is a small gear wheel. Selecting this will show a small sub-menu where you can propagate permissions as well as viewing effective permissions. I would suggest you create a year group, add desired teachers to that year group and then add this year group to each desired year folder. Define your permissions and propagate them. You should now have at the end of this the default POSIX permissions for individual student folders still in place and honoured as well as overriding permission for teachers.

Inconsistent logic for viewing others schemes objects in browser

A while ago when we upgraded our db's to Oracle 10 we also replaced our famous green friend for Sql Developer with our entire development crew.
Among a few other things, people were not all that happy, seeing that they lost the desired "check for access to dba views option". But as long as we could rely on a consistent view in the "other schema" in all possible views (via table, or directly in the navigator) we could defend this way of thinking for not being able to see everything.
But unfortunately, in the latest version "1.5.1 5440", we still see inconsistent things...
for example :
via browser (other users schema)
=> Indexes are not visible in the indexes branch point, but they do show up on the indexes tab for the corresponding table.
=> For the same "other users scheme", Triggers do show up in the triggers branch point, but then when we check the trigger tab for the corresponding table, they are not shown
It looks like waiting for yet another version is no option and we will be forced to retreat to the green commercial swamp on high demand of our developers...

There are still a few glitches in the queries used for certain things - I cannot remember the problem you mention with indexes being posted before (although I get the same problem with indexes visible in all_indexes not appearing on other users index node), but the trigger tab problem has been discussed before (1.5PROD/EA3/EA2/EA1: Only table owners triggers show in Table's trigger tab

Unexpected Access to Other Users' Accounts

I just discovered tonight that I when I search for files, files in other user's accounts on this computer show up. I can open them too, but throwing them away requires that user's password. Searching the internet to see if this is a normal feature, I find questions about how to access other user's files and comments that even administrators cannot do this. Is this normal or abnormal behavior? Fast user switching is not enabled. Does anyone know where solid information can be found about the "barriers" between users' accounts? Thanks.

Ah, thanks, BDAqua. I see that at the user level, each user folder is set to read only. So if the users aren't saving their files in their enclosed "no access" folders, but at their base user level, they are read only. If we set each user folder to "no access", then others would not be able to access the shared folder either. Is there a way to set access priviledges for users on this computer so that they're the same for users on this network? Users on the network only see the "drop box" when they open a user folder.

Updation in other user

I want to connect to another user in database proceedure , and do some updation and insertion in that user and
then switch back to where I am first.
Any body can help me for this task.
I tried with alter session set current_schema.
But i can only select from that user , But updation is not working in that user.

There are various ways.
Simplest is for that user to grant permission to your user to allow inserts, updates or deletes as appropriate and then you can simply do it directly from your own user.
Alternatively, that other user can have some procedures which control the insert/update/deletes and then permission is granted on those procedures for your own user to call, thus keeping the control over access with the other user.
For either of those, synonyms can be created in your own users schema to make the other users object appear as if they are in your own such that you can just reference e.g. a table, simply by it's name rather than having to prefix it with the other users schema first.
All depends on the requirements and restrictions implemented on the database. Without more information that's about all the help we can give.

How to copy all tables, triggers, etc from one user schema to another

Hello everybody!
I am searching for a QUERY or Stored Procedure to copy the tables of one user schema to another schema.
Should look kind of: Copy (Select * from all_objects where owner = 'UserIwantToCopyFrom') to user = 'UserIwantToCopyTO'
I am sure that my example is rubbish but I tried to explain what I want to do.
So is there a chance to do that within sql-code? I have to build a template of a user schema with hundreds of tables, triggers, etc and copy it to several other user schemas.
