Hi All,
This is a question of can it be done.
If a Java program runs from a website and is used to stream currency price data can I use another program to access the price data that is being streamed to the Java program?
I do not have access to any API's just the GUI.
Program is at http://fxtrade.oanda.com/fxgame/ but requires a login. Is free

Security error in Planning when accessing a data form

Hi,
I have a question regarding dimension level security and user access.
We have a user who has been assigned a data form but still he is not able to access it. There is dimension level security applied to each user. When he tries to access the form it throws an error –
“Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form”.
How do you know which dimension is it??? Is there any other way other than the manual method of going into each dimension and checking it?
Please let me know your ideas.

I am not sure of any other way apart from Alp's Suggestion of cross checking security export or play with USER_ID and OBJECT_ID in HSP_Access_Control Table or take a LCM export of just security and have a look at users.xml.

Accessing repository from a java app

Hi, I am trying to develop a java app that access a portal repository. I got

The repository code is based upon local EJBs, so the api doesn't support
t3/rmi based access.
So, to write a non-server based application to access the repository,
you will need to construct a remoting piece which your application can
access. One good way would be to create .jws's which access the
repository code. .jws are WebServices, and I believe you can generate
client jars for them (I don't know the details about that). But, then
your client application would communicate via HTTP and SOAP to the .jws,
which would then communicate to the repository code. If you do this, you
won't need content_system.jar or wps_system.jar in your app's classpath.

What path to use to access network files from Java app running on Mac

I have a Java app running on a Mac with OS X that I'm using to check for files that exists on Windows servers within our network.
Using a path like /Volumes/<Share>/ works because I've already connected to the drive using Finder. If I try to use a fully qualify the path with "smb://<Server>/<Share>" then my app doesn't see anything. Is there any way that I can get Java to connect to a directory without first having mapped or made the connection via some external tool like Finder?

I have downloaded an app to my 5800 but once in the app i need to enter my account details.
There is no keyboard in the app to allow me to enter the details.

No idea's yet, but same issue. I get a D-Pad in my Java apps (not a number pad) and I have a few apps where clicking th custom edit box doesn't give you a choice to bring up a keyboard (the Opera Mini app - address bar is an example. filed a bug with Opera against that)

I think the answers that are in that thread are about all you're going to get from anyone else.
Java is meant to be platform independent, and therefore would not have any way to hook into any mechanism to do what you want to do. That type of thing would be highly OS dependent for various reasons. This is not something that Java (except thru JNI, which at that point, isn't really Java) is going to be able to do. I could be wrong, but I'm inclined to believe it's not something you could do with any application either, only ones that provide an open API to hook into it which may or may not provide the functionality needed.
Of course, there's aways screen capture and trying to read that way.

Access the adobe form pdf data in abap or java programs

We created an adobe form, with few text boxes, and emailed to user for filing his data into the pdf file.
He filled the text boxes and saved the pdf, and sent back the pdf file by mail.
Now our requirement is:
we need to read the values entered by the user in pdf and update in certain ztables using abap or java.
case 1: using abap
How can abap program read the entries/values in pdf.
is there any doc/blog that shows how to access the adobe form data in abap.
do we need to use/install any software for this.
case 2: using java
Is it possible to read/retrive the adobe form data into java. once the data is into java program, i can utilise the data for several puposes.

using ABAP:
check the program: FP_PDF_TEST_03
This program reads the data from Adobe into XML format.
After this you have to read the data from XML format into ABAP(hope you know how to convert XML to ABAP or simply google it).

I am using HCM processes and Forms. I need to access the form data in the workflow container once the workflow kicks off.
I need to access these data as would need it for further processing in the workflow.
I know that TS17900110 allows to import form conatiner to
-> WF Container in the field name and value pair. But I need to access a lot more fields than what is in the task. Is there a standard task which allow to retrieve all the fields in the form in one task or do I need to develope a custom class to do that. If so could you please provide some clue as in how to code this specific requirement as i am somewhat new to OO ABAP.

in the livecycle designer under libary tab u have webdynpro tab--->choose submit to sap button and place it in the adobe form ur designing. u can use this button to trigger the code that u have written in webdynpro java.
for eg if u have
a value node details
and under that two value attr fname,lname
import the model (Insertdata---it has two import param fname and lname)u need for updating the data to r3 system.
in the ctrller have a method submit.Here write the code to insert fname and lname into the db.

The place where i am working has apps installed in IBM AIX server .. so how do i access Apps
or can i access Apps via TOAD.You will have to access the server using ftp to download the pll files to your local machine. TOAD can be used to access the database objects only (not the physical application files).

Using Java Access bridge (Accessibility) with oracle forms 6.0 client

I'm trying to use JAB (java Access bridge ) to capture events in oracle forms 6.0 client .
I've a Jinitiator 1.1.8 and JRE version 1.4x
I've configured JAB as per the installation guide . However the events don't surface in Java Monkey .
Has anybody encountered similar issue ? what is the solution for the issue ??
Also on one of the forums I read Jinitiator 1.3x and above is automatically recognised by Java Access bridge .
For jinitiator version less than 1.3 manual configuration is required . however I haven;'t been able to find any on the oracle forms KB

User access to "planning " data forms

iam newbie to planning
i have two different doubts in planning
i have created a application in eas called "blue " in eas console and loaded the data and retrieved in excel , iam able to see the data . mean while i have created planning application called "gt" and its created sucessfully, i can able to "gt" see in the eas console . i wanted to get the data from "blue" in eas into planning "gt" dataforms i created a user called "blue" in shared services console , i decided to give the privilege to "blue" in eas , i clicked on the default application to blue application but was nt there ,but it showing separtely , i clicked on that and assigned roles like "administrator" and cube creator and planner
my doubt is that
1: when i logon "gt " planning application and created dataform folder i want to access the essbase application "blue" data, but there is no user available in that dataform
iam confused whether i should give privileges to default application or "gt " i find both of them in shared services console
clearly my doubt how to link eas "blue" with planning "gt " and datas form blue should be retrived in gt dataform

Hi,
I am not totally sure what you are trying to achieve but if you create an essbase application in EAS it is a totally seperate entity from a planning application, so you can't just access it directly.
The are many options on what to do but it needs to be clearer why you have to access the data from a seperate database.
If there is a commonality in the dimensions then it would have been possible to create an extra plan type when you created the planning application, this creates an extra database as part of the planning application.
The other options are to use XREFs to access data from one to cube to another.
Another option would to use partitions.
You could extract the data from one cube using an export or DATAEXPORT command and then load it into your planning database or use ODI to extract from one database and load it into the other.

Accessing DB2 data through DBLINK in Java program recieves ORA-02063 error

Hello,
Is it posible to access a mainframe DB2 table through a Java JDBC connection utilizing a DBLink / Synonym. Using Toad or SQLDeveloper, I can select the DB2 data just fine. Also, PL/SQL programs can access the data without issues. When I try to select data from the DB2 Table in a Java program, I get ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence -- ORA-02063 preceding line from DB2D errors.
The code I am using to test is:
(Note: TBL_LOC_ADR is the Synonym that points to the Mainfram DB2 table)

The error occurs on the rs = stmt.executeQuery(query); line.

What's your oracle version? You might be hitting a bug as identified in this metalkink doc id, see if this helps out. Resolution posted in the metalink by applying patches or confirm that you have applied all the required patches.
