Access Reliability in Web Application
Does anyone have recommendation on using Access database in
Web application.
I have always used Access, but recently heard that it can
cause great problems if more than one user is accessing information
at the same time.
Is there anyway around this or do I need to switch to MySql?
The application is written entirely within Coldfusion, using
a DSN for the Access DB.
This is a small application and it would be rare that more
than one user would be into the same table at one time but it could
happen, as there is a login and the users table would be accessed
each time someone logs in.
Any insight would be helpful. I really don't want to have to
redo the database.
so far there have been no problems but I would be in a fix if
the system crashed.
Thanks.

Regarding the Coldfusion Application which is currently
running on the web, using an Access database, how disruptive do you
think it would be to migrate to MySQL from Access?
Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks!
The work might not be hard, but there is an awful lot of it.
I changed one from Access to Oracle once. What I did was:
1. Create the Oracle tables and sequences.
2. Transfer the existing data to the new db.
3. Test every single query and rewrite the ones that needed
it.
So far there is no disruption to your production app, until
now.
4. Take the production app offline to freeze the data.
5. Bring the new db up to date.
6. Put your new app into production.

Problems access to a web application (Web Interface or Web report)
Hi,
We found problems with the access to web application. Some users have problems with direct links to the web applications(Web Interface or Web reporting), when they click on the link an error message appears, the message displays the following text:
"Cannot open file Bex?sap-language=ENbsplanguge=ENcmd=idoc_TE.."
Clicking in details the message is "No Access to specified file"
For this users the access to excel reporting is correct, the message appears when they click on the direct web links through the browser or directly in BW system, but if they type the URL they can access. Other users can use the direct web link without problems.
I highly appreciate any help or idea about how to solve this issue.
Thanks in advance.HI,
please ask to your basis that check the language of every single user on su01 tx.
This is the problem i think.

Secure and non-secure access to the web application in one war
Say we have one web application (in one war) which includes JSP, servlets and the security intercepter. There is one business requirement to have most of the JSP(s) accessed via HTTPS, but a few JSP(S) accessed via HTTP.
My questions are:
a. Is this possible, or a reasonable requirement or a good practice?
b. if yes, what can we do to make it happen in the security intercepter implementation?
c. If not, what is the technical reasons?
Thanks much.a) Yes its is reasonable and good practive, there is an overhead using https, so you should only encrypt file you need to. When you use an online store, only account details / payments are https, the shop itself is http
b) I dont really understand your difficulty. You can define a folder as 'secure' and put all your secure pages in this folder, leaving non secure files in a different folder. Whenever a page in the secure folder is accessed, https is automatically invoked. -

Oracle Access Manager is like the management station, WebGate would typically be installed on a host where a Web Server is running. So WebGate running on the WebServer host would be used to provide access control functions for web pages hosted on Web Server. You will have to do the configuration of WebGate separately after Access Manager has been installed. Please mark answer helpful/correct if helpful. -
How to access deployed J2EE Web application ?
Hi,
I am new to J2EE Web Application. I have created a Web Module project and in that I have created a servlet. I did a build for WAR file. I have created an Enterprise Application Project and included this WAR file. I built the EAP and deployed it to J2EE engine. I am successful till here.
I am not sure how to access this deployed application and thus this servlet.
I tried to access the following way :
http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/<EAPName>/<ServletName>
However, I receive the error no such location.
In the web.xml file, in the servlet-mapping section, I have mentioned the servletname and urlpattern.
I have mentioned the urlpattern as MyServlet and not /MyServlet. Notice the 'backslash'.
Could this be an issue ?

Hi,
I have a SharePoint 2010 setup with 4 WFE, 4 APP Servers and 1 DB Server.
After reading up a while back which services should be running on which server layer I remove the Web Application Service from APP Server (using Central Admin). The service is currently in error state on that machine. I had also removed a WFE Server which
was not required and ensured all WFE had Web Application Service running as Microsoft Specified. I have checked each WFE and they have all same Web Applications in IIS. I have accessed a specific Web Application (that a user said they couldn't access) on 2
of the 3 WFE servers when remoted into them, but one prompts me for login details. I have looked at the NLB on each WFE Server and saw that 2 out of three servers had all three servers in cluster. One that didn't was not same server as had problems accessing
Web Application. I have removed a Server from Cluster and added it back as I saw Priorities were 1,2,4 (3 must have been initial removed server) and added it back again so Priorities were 1,2,3.
Can anyone explain what may have happened in this scenario? It seems I think to be hitting this server with the problem accessing the Web Application. It seems to time out. How do I resolve this? DO I need to resync?
Thanks.
John.Hi John,
For your issue, it can be caused by that you remove and re-add a WFE from the NLB cluster. As the Priority was changed, you need to disconnect and reconnect your SharePoint using SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard.
Thanks,
Eric

EJB accessing web application classes
Hi,
what is the right method to enable packaged EJB to access classes of a
web application? Packaging both the EJB and web application in same
ear is not possible in this situation. We are running WebLogic 6.0 and
ejb is in
wlserver6.0/config/mydomain/applications/EJB.jar
and the classes it should use are in
wlserver6.0/config/mydomain/applications/application_name/WEB-INF/classes,
i.e. not packed into war -package. adding
wlserver6.0/config/mydomain/applications/application_name/WEB-INF/classes
to WebLogic's CLASSPATH enables the ejb to deploy but seems to screw
other deployments. Please address calling and EJB from a JSP using the EJB to JSP tags...?I'm throwing

The WLS 6.x classloading scheme for enterprise apps, ejbs, and webapps
does
not permit and ejb to access webapp classes in the WEB-INF/classes directory
unless those classes are placed in the java system classpath, which,
you have
found, creates other problems.
If classes are needed by both webapp and ejb, place them in a utility
jar file
that is packaged in the ear with the ejb, or webapp, or both, and refer
to
them with the Class-Path manifest directive in the ejb jar file or the
webapp
war file.
For the details, see:

I have installed Project Server 2013. The issue is only a single user given access to PWA through project web app service application has access to the site. Even my account, that is the farm admin account has a full access right to web application that
hosts PWA is not able to log in to the project site while normal sharepoint sites i have access.
Is it by design or i am doing something wrong?
sachinYou need to add the users through project server permission by granting them access to the Project Server which will enable them to log on, this can be done dependent on security mode you have

"SSO" for non-sap web application using SAPGUI to browse?
I have a web application (non SAP) and the user base are also SAP users in an ABAP system.
To strengthen the authentication in the web app, I wanted to implement SSO
authentication as we pity the users for having to remember so many strong pw's and I
dont like LDAP based pw sync or other technology I dont understand, because then we are
just yet another application with the same pw...
We are having technical problems implementing SSO on the web app side, and are anyway a
bit sceptical about the user admin / role admin assignment if we get it to work.
So I have created a transaction in SAP which browses the web app and the intention is to
send the SAP sy-uname as the web app user. We can control this using s_tcode, and
an own auth object on the WAS side and a check on the session type before the connection is
established. In this sense we are dependent on the SAP concept implemented, but even so:
The role assignment is controlled in the web app itself -> so assume that I am not overly
worried about unauthorized access to the web application, as they would not have any
system role for it as their sy-uname does not exist. (Infact we can monitor this)
The browser on the front end is the SAPGUI with html controls on the SAP side.
I would be interested in knowing whether anyone else has experience with this approach, and
whether there are any areas to be carefull of?
I would also like to know whether this is a strategic error?
Kind regards,
JuliusHi Julius,
well, if that web application would run on the same ABAP backend system then the solution described in <a href="http://service.sap.com/~iron/fm/011000358700000431401997E/0612670">SAP Note 612670</a> would be applicable:
a so-called "Re-entrance ticket" (based on the "SAP logon ticket" SSO proceedings) is issued, transported via the SAPGUI connection and back to the system via the invoked HTML control.
But for non-SAP web applications that does not help.
In that case only X.509 client certificates can be used for SSO. Actually, the web application could then also be invoked directly (independent from the SAPGUI session). The user is authenticated based on the X.509 client certificate - and not based on the ABAP userID (of the SAPGUI session).
Well, if you don't mind the effort you could also use the "SAP Logon Ticket evaluation library" (sapssoext, see <a href="http://service.sap.com/~iron/fm/011000358700000431401997E/0304450">SAP Note 304450</a>) to evalute the SAP logon ticket externally. You'll then need to have a "stub application" at the ABAP side that triggers the http redirect to your external web application. Not a nice solution but a possible one.
In the future SAML browser artifacts would be an option (preferable to integrate non-SAP applications). But currently that's not available (for NWAS ABAP).
Cheers, Wolfgang -
Deploy web application to multiple web front end servers
Hi,
I have a SharePoint farm that include 8 web front end servers and 2 application servers. I have created web application from central administration and during creation I added the public URL to refer to one of the web front end servers.
Now I want to be able to access the same web application from the other web front end servers what shall be done. I have tried to add alternate access mapping but i found that i only have 5 alternatives (Default, Intranet, Extranet,Internet and Custom) while
I need to access it from 8 different sites with the IP or name.
Can anyone tell me what is the best practice for that.
I appreciate the quick response.

BPM Web Applications URL for Websphere
Can anyone please let me know what's the url to access the BPM web application published in enterprise server 571 for Websphere.
I've installed Enterprise edition 571 for websphere and I published a project using process admin page.
Want to know how to view and start the process that I've published.
ThanksThanks For the reply.
This is what I did
1) installed Enterprise Edition(Standalone)
2) Configured engine and deployed a project using admin
3) Able to view the deployed project and start workflow using "Lauch Workspace" in Admin Center
This is what I am trying to do.
1) I've installed Enterprise for J2EE(Websphere)
2) Configured engine and deployed a project using admin
3) But I am not able to view the workspace, I am not seeing the "Lauch Workspace" in Admin Center.
So I have to install Workspace Extension to view the deployed process and start the workflow? or anyother way to acheive this?

Configure Logical Address for Web Applications-Hyperion 11.1.2
Hello,
I have f5 load balancer infront of two foundation servers and I have not yet configured the Logical address for web applications with Loadbalancer DNS name/hostnmae. I can access all of web applications through Load Balanced URL. Do I Still need to configure Logical Web Address for web applications ?
Thank you so much !To add to this part of the reason for load balancing is usually to support high availability (in addition to scalability). Without that logic address being setup you will find certain configuration items are pointed to one server or another and if that one server is brought down it impacts key functionality of the whole environment.
You should consider a test of the infrastructure by purposely bringing down services and/or servers to ensure you still have a fully working environment with the other redundant components. This test may take half a day to several days to really go through a full regression test of key features while taking key pieces down.
