Access table cells

Hello,
Could someone please help me understand how to access table cells (in report)?  I have a report with a table populated from a channel.  It shows, in one column, a list of names (which come from a channel).  I have another channel with a list of colors and I want to associate each name in the table with a color from this second channel. I have tried without success to even access a cell using D2TabRow and D2TabCol and display the contents....
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Hi Edna-S,
Thanks again for the help, but I am stuck at a very basic level.   if I can get past that, the rest will work for me.  Rather than using channels, I would like to reference elements in a table using the table row and column.
I found the script below in a previous post.  Using it, I can create a two column table in Report.  I added a little bit to the script and I can also change the font colour for the headers or a column.
But, I cannot figure out how to reference just one cell.  If for example, I wanted to change the font colour for the third cell in the second column only, what commands should I use?  In other words is there some equivalent of A= chT (row, channel) for use with tables where I could give the cell reference (row,col) and have the entry stored (A) in that cell returned?
Many Thanks!

  • Access table cells using tab key with iterators

    Hi,
    I use a tableview with iterator and allow users to mouseclick certain column cells. I capture these user interactions using server event "onCellClick". But I cannot access these cells using tab key instead of mouse click. But tab key is a must for visibly challenged users.      Is there any way to access table cells using tab keys (with iterators)?
    I use icons in those cells to replace  check box and change the icons to differentiate checked/unchecked status.

    Hi Craig,
    Thanks for your effort.
    But I was able to solve my problem. I don't think I gave all the information to simulate my problem in your environment. I used images in certain table cells and was not able to access those cells using tab key or access key. Tag <b><img></b> doesn't have the attributes <b>tabindex</b> and <b>access key</b>.
    I solved the problem by surrounding the <b><img></b> by anchor tag <<b>A>,</b> which has both attributes. I did these changes within the iterator method <b>RENDER_CELL_START</b> using CL_BSP_BEE_TABLE.
    In the event handling, I had to do separate processing for  mouse click event and key press event for those cells.
    For visibly challenged users:
    They can access those cells by tab key or access key and the key press event is used to capture when they hit enter key.
    So this problem is irrelevant to service packages (SP38,..).

  • JSTL - access table cells

    I have an html table where rows are added by the user using javascript. I can't figure out a way to reference the table then subsequently the specific row and column. How do I access the cells of the table using jstl tags?
    Thanks, Bill

    Not sure what you mean.
    JSTL runs on the server, before the page is generated. Javascript runs on the client after the page is generated. So you are separated by both time (JSTL comes first, so can't reference what comes later), and space (the two things are running on different machines).
    If you want the info that the user puts into the table accessible to the server, you will have to submit a form, and all the info the user entered will need to be put in inputs.
    Once you submit the page, JSTL can access an array of all the values with a given input name using request.parameterValues, for which you can either iterate over, or index into.

  • List UIBB - Access to cell editor for a certain table line possible

    Hi,
    I am looking for a way to access the cell editor of the last table line as I want to mark it as a special - summary - line.
    I intend a similar approach like in WebDynrpo ABAP when accessing the node info and modifying the "CELL DESIGN" attribute like in the following code (copied from WD Comp WDR_TEST_TABLE, View CELL DESIGN, method FILL_CELL_DESIGNS) :
      data tab type IF_CELL_DESIGN=>Elements_Cell_Designs.
      data line type IF_CELL_DESIGN=>Element_Cell_Designs.
      data node_info type ref to if_wd_context_node_info.
      data attribute_info type wdr_context_attribute_info.
      data attr_value type WDR_CONTEXT_ATTR_VALUE.
      node_info = node->get_node_info( ).
      attribute_info = node_info->get_attribute( 'CELL_DESIGN' ).
      line-is_expanded = abap_true.
      line-is_leaf     = abap_false.
      line-key         = 'FIRST'.
      loop at attribute_info-value_set into attr_value.
        line-text = sy-tabix.
        concatenate 'Text #' line-text into line-text. "#EC NOTEXT
        line-cell_design = attr_value-value.
        insert line into table tab.
        line-is_leaf = abap_true.
        line-key = attr_value-value.
        line-parent_key = 'FIRST'.
      endloop.
      node->bind_table( tab ).
    I suspect the method IF_FPM_GUIBB_LISTGET_DATA (or IF_FPM_GUIBB_LISTGET_DEFINITION) of my feeder class to be the right access point.
    But unfortunately, I have not yet found out how to change the cell design for specific lines, only for whole columns.
    Can anyone give me a hint here?
    BTW: The "summary" line is not a sum of the lines above, but determined by backend logic, so not ALV-summary line for me.
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
    A short update for all interested:
    My current work around is to always set the lead selection to the summary line. It does in a kind "mark" that line as special as long as I cannot mark it using a different cell design.
    How do I assure this?
    I have implemented the following code in a redefinition of the method ADJUST_SELECTION:
    *- alter selection
      DATA:
       ls_size TYPE rstabix.
      "get index of summary line
      ls_size-tabix = mo_collection->size( ).
      "change only if there are any cash conc. proposals
      IF ls_size-tabix > 0.
        "do FPM selection
        CLEAR: ev_lead_index, et_selection.
        ev_lead_index = ls_size-tabix.
        APPEND ls_size TO et_selection.
        "do BOL selection
        mo_collection->if_bol_bo_col_multi_sel~unmark_all( ).
        mo_collection->if_bol_bo_col_multi_sel~mark( iv_index = ls_size-tabix ).
      ENDIF.
    The general downside is, that no other selection is possible!
    The selection is always reset to the summary line with each roundtrip.
    Waiting for a better solution...
    Kind Regards,
    Robert

  • "No text target or text model" when accessing notes inside table cells.

    I'm using the InDesign Automation Objects through Delphi to scan all the notes inside a document and that works fine as long as the notes aren't inside tables.
    For those notes inside tables as soon as I try to get the instance for a note I get the error "No text target or text model". Tried several ways of scanning the document to get to the notes but it doesn't make a difference.
    Here's my code:
        for I := 1 to FDoc.Stories.Count do
          for J := 1 to FDoc.Stories.Item[I].Tables.Count do
            for K := 1 to FDoc.Stories.Item[I].Tables.Item[J].Notes.Count do
              Note := FDoc.Stories.Item[I].Tables.Item[J].Notes.Item[K];
    The last line throws the error.
    This seems like an InDesign bug, or is there maybe something wrong with the document or a different way to get the note content?
    Thanks.

  • How can I write into a table cell (row, column are given) in a databae?

    How can I write into a table cell (row, column are given) in a database using LabVIEW Database Toolkit? I am using Ms Access. Suppose I have three columns in a table, I write 1st row of 1st column, then 1st row of 3rd column. The problem I am having is after writing the 1st row 1st column, the reference goes to second row and if I write into 3rd column, it goes to 2nd row 3rd column. Any suggestion?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    When you do a SQL INSERT command, you create a new row. If you want to change an existing row, you have to use the UPDATE command (i.e. UPDATE tablename SET column = value WHERE some_column=some_value). The some_column could be the unique ID of each row, a date/time, etc.
    I have no idea what function to use in the toolkit to execute a SQL command since I don't use the toolkit. I also don't understand why you just don't do a single INSERT. It would be much faster.

  • Mail.app: text in table cells in incoming formatted mail - problems replying

    MacOS 10.9.2
    mail.app  7.2, threading enabled
    Sometimes I receive a formatted email that is really difficult to reply to, when I want to intersperse my reply text among the incoming paragraphs.
    The trouble occurs when multiple incoming paragraphs are grouped. I can’t open up vertical space for my reply  text inside the groups.
    If I click anywhere in the group, mail.app marks the group with a surrounding rounded-corner grey rectangle, with a X-in-a-circle “close icon” at the upper left corner.
    When I look at the raw source of the incoming message, I see that the groups correspond to table cells, that is, the sending mail client enclosed the paragraphs within a <td> … </td> pair.
    The sending email client is sending me a table, for no clear reason — the group doesn’t correspond to anything obvious in the message thread.
    I’m guessing we won’t ever know why some email clients group paragraphs like this, but I’d like to do my best to adapt, so I can keep up with my incoming email.
    Yeah, I can ask my correspondents to use a different email client, or perhaps different settings in the same client, but except for the few tekkies among my correspondents, this isn’t really practical.  I can also ask my clients to use unformatted messages, but THAT is a whole different issue, and frequently isn’t practical, either.
    My questions:
    Q1:  What’s the point of the grey rectangle and the  “close icon”?    (Is this mail.app’s way of saying, “I received this crazy formatting, almost impossible to process, so I’m making it easy for you to just delete the whole mess”?  Or what?)
    Q2:  Is there any SIMPLE way to untangle (modify or remove) these groupings within mail.app?  (I guess I can access the raw html, copy-and-paste it into another app, modify it, and paste the results back into my reply.  Yuck!)
    Q3: Am I missing a really obvious work-around or fix?
    TIA

    In your question, you indicated that you are running Firefox 8. Is that correct? It might be difficult to diagnose issues with that version because most people have moved on to Firefox 12 (plus or minus 1 version). Can you upgrade?
    It's hard to think of a reason that ordinary text or links in ordinary text would not display. For embedded images or videos, one possibility is a difference in the protocol, i.e., HTTP (not secure) versus HTTPS (secure).
    Hopefully someone else will have a better guess (or actual knowledge!).
    Regarding the blue lines in a message, that usually indicates the earlier message was forwarded a few times. I don't know whether Gmail will let you reformat that area or whether you have to clean it in another application (e.g., for plain text, in Notepad) and paste it back in.

  • Populating drop down list in a table cell-urgent

    Hi all
    I have a problem. I want to populate a dropdown list in a table cell. can anybody tell me the step by step procedure for that.
    I am doing it generally. not using R/3
    I am creating sub node like u have mentioned. I haven't done it using wizard.
    Is there any difference in the way we populate this list?
    My root node is expense. Inside that some value attributes are there. For the drop down list i've created a sub node 'extype'.
    I am getting error.
    it is:
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.context.ContextException: Node(EREmpHomeView.expense.extype): cannot bind or add elements because the node has no valid parent
    Following is the code i've written.
    IPrivateEREmpHomeView.IExtypeElement el;
              IPrivateEREmpHomeView.IExtypeNode nd=wdContext.nodeExpense().nodeExtype();
              el=wdContext.nodeExpense().nodeExtype().createExtypeElement();
              el.setEtype("Travel");
              nd.addElement(el);
    Sill i'm getting the same error
    Hi Nidhideep
    Error has gone with the code that Mr Anil has given. But there is no value in the List. Dropdown list is coming as a blank list.

    1. Context description at design time:

    and the attribute:
    Value attributes “myValue”, type="String".
    2. The corresponding Java source code example that you create in the wdDoInit method of the controller implementation:

  • Select from multiple entries in table cell.

    Hi All,
    I'm having issues when trying to do a simple select from an access database:
    <CFQUERY NAME="GetAllByMonth" DATASOURCE="dsn">
    SELECT * FROM table WHERE  strMonth = '#url.strMonth#' AND strDisplay = Yes
    order by strOrder_id
    </CFQUERY>
    Table cells in rows contain coma separated values:
    January, February, March, April, May, June, October, November, December
    Unfortunately the query returns no values. I've tried changing the "=" with "like", "contains" but with no results.
    Difficult to know what to search for so any help gratefully recieved.
    Ta
    Trevor

    Here is an absolutely crazy "hack" that I once used when dealing with a database like that.  It had hundreds of thousands of rows with comma separated values that for various legacy could not be changed.
    So one day I did this ...  SELECT DISTINCT column_from_purgatory FROM table_from_hell.
    Much to my surprise, there were less than a hundred DISTINCT values in that column.  (They were, fortunately, reasonably-sized VARCHARs.)
    So I built a table of those values, then created a separate table into which I could put each of the comma-separated parts, and then wrote a small (Perl) script to populate the two.  For example, a row containing "January, March, April" would be linked to three rows containing one month-name each.
    Now, as long as I had a way to be sure that this pair of lookup-tables was always complete (which was slightly problematic), I had something that I could actually JOIN to.  It wasn't pretty ... in fact, it was butt-ugly ... but it saved a tremendous amount of processing time for this application.

  • Table Cells with dotted or dashed borders

    I created a table and to a number of cells created either dashed or dotted borders of various sizes. When I create a PDF, the dashed and dotted lines only show up as shaded lines. I have tried changing a number of PDF settings and still no luck. Can anyone help? I am working in FrameMaker 10 and Acrobat XI Pro.

    > ... a way to create a border for a table cell that has a dotted or dashed line?
    If you don't need FM access to cell contents (variables, xrefs, list-of-Tables, etc.), consider doing the tables in a spreadsheet. If the data originates in a spreadsheet, of course, it's usually not worth the effort to transfer the cell data to FM tables anyway, if only due to the risk of transcription error.
    LibreOffice or OpenOffice "calc", for example, have many more border/cell options than FM, and can trivially Export Selection to PDF. FM then imports the PDF. Although FM hasn't access to the cell text, it is worth noting that it will be full-text searchable/selectable in the PDF, and not just a graphic. The visible preview image during FM edit is low res (72 dpi) however, unless you use scaling tricks.
    MS Excel might also work for this data flow. I only ever use it to re-save a .xls or .xlsx to .ods. What little playing around with it I've tried suggests that rendering a print region to PDF might work, but I don't see any quick way to export selections.
    In FM versions earlier than 8, convert such PDFs to EPS using Illustrator or Acrobat Pro. PDF import is unstable in 7x and earlier. We have an AI batch process set up for this, and doing tables this way is easily worth this extra step.

    Hi,
    It seems that your configuration is Ok. By the way, the workaround for this error is:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    [Transparent gateway for ODBC][H001] The environment variable <HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO> is not set.
    * Set HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO in the hs{sid}init.ora file to the data source name.

    * Make sure the hs{sid}init.ora file exists in the ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory and has the same name as the SID in the LISTENER.ORA.
    Example: If SID=hsodbc in the listener.ora file, then the hs{sid}init.ora file would be named ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/inithsodbc.ora

  • Looping table cells....... is it possible to loop more than one table cell?

    Hi there
    Hope everyone is doing well
    I have been using the addt looper wizard and it works great.....
    I usually put all the things I want to loop into one cell.... then select all the things and apply the looper.... which works fine....
    But..... it is hard to align all the elements I want to loop
    I have been using transparent gif images to space the loops evenly but when I space dynamic taxt on top of each other there is a large gap.....
    It is a nightmare to get it looking even
    Ok say I want to loop this.....
    A thumbnail
    Product ID
    Price
    It would look like this
    A thumbnail
    Product ID
    Price
    Because I cannot reduce the space between the lines......
    So I would like to place all the different elements in separate table cells and loop them..... I have tried and get really strange results....
    When you look at most online shops, their product pages have a thumbnail image the id, price, description, etc.... all spaced evenly.... and looks like is looped...... So.... how do I do it?
    Is there any easier way to align the things I want to loop?
    Any help would be great

    Hi there
    I seem to have figured out how to loop cells....
    Should have thought of it earliar but anyway
    Was easy....
    Just create a looped (repeat) region and insert a table into the region and edit the table to align all the looped elements easily....
    Cool
