Access to Exchange email from smartphones

I am in the mioddle of a SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 migration. I have the Exchange Server running on the new server and have run into a problem with accessing some of the email accounts via smartphones.
The email works fine from the deskop, as does the Remote Web Access (I can log in and run OWA without any problems>.
I configured 2 user smartphones and was able to access their Exchange email accounts. I did have to accept all SSL certifictaes, so I have a certificate issue somewhere which may or may not be related to the issue.
When I went to configure the other user accounts on their respective phones (one droid and one iPhone), both responded with an unknown error occurred and a message to check the username and/or password.
I can use Remote web access and access email via OWA, thus confirming the account and password.
I even tried to configure the failed account on one of the smartphones that worked and it too failed again with the same error. This seems to imply a configuration problem with that email account (but I have not been able to find any differences
between the working and failed acounts).
I am a novice at Exchange and could use siome direction as to what else to look for that can explain why a couple of email accounts worked and others do not.

Have you checked on Exchange managemente console, inside the user mailbox properties if activesync communication is enabled?

Retrieve Exchange Email from Inactive Account

Really hoping someone can help with this! I recently switched off one MS Exchange server for a new hosted MS Exchange server. Unfortunately, the old account was deleted off the server before I had an opportunity to create an archive. All of the emails are still available on my iPhone at the moment but the old Exchange account itself is no longer valid. I have a few months worth of emails that I need to retrieve and if possible import in to my new Exchange account. I have been holding off on setting up my iPhone with the new Exchange account because I believe it will wipe everything out in the process.
How can I get the emails off my iPhone and import them in to my new Exchange server? If this is not possible, is there some way to create a backup? I tried syncing with iTunes but can't seem to backup the emails themselves.

The iPhone's backup does not include email, and there is no way to import email from a no longer active account to another account. That would need to be done with the email client used on your computer for accessing each account with both accounts active.
Creating the new account will not affect the existing. You will need to forward each email to the new account and not sure how well that will work with the existing account being inactive.

Need to access legacy exchange emails in BIS

Hi,
I am trying to access a OWA, which is a redirection to legacy.domain.com/exchange.
I am able to configure the email address and able to send emails from my BB device but now able to receive any messages in my inbox.
The OWA url is xmail.domain.com/owa and after login, the url is redirecting to legacy.domain.com/exchange

Delete exchange email from iphone but not from PC

I just set up an exchange email with my outlook on my pc. We do not use gmail. I want to be able to have my calendar and contacts sync automatically. However, if I delete mail from my phone, I do NOT want it deleted from my computer. I've searched for answers and can't find any that solve the issue. The phone is 5s.

I really hate to disappoint you, but IMAP and Exchange both act the same way. Mail is stored on the server, when mail arrives, it is synced to all devices. When mail is deleted, it is synced on all devices. You cannot store mail locally in an IMAP or Exchange account. The best answer to your dilemma is to set the amount of days to sync on the phone so you are only observing a smaller amount of mail versus removing the actual mail. Again, as Meg mentioned, you can always manage your mail on the computer and move mail out of the inbox into storage folders if you really want to keep the mail to view/search on the computer, but it would not necessarily be visible on the phone. You can set your Inbox sync to as low as 1 day, so you would only see a single day's mail on the phone, while retaining all of your mail on the server.

I wanted to access my .me account from my blackberry (the web page, not the email), and I got to the login page, and after entering my info and pressing login, nothing happened. I scrolled down and found the info about not working well with IE, etc., so guess the browser is an issue?
Does anyone else access their .me account on a blackberry? If so, how do you do it?

Well, the good news is I have the URL correct.
But regardless of whether I use http://icloud.com or http://mail.icloud.com, I still get prompted with a dialog box which says the following:
"Setup iCloud on a device to use iCloud.com"
If I click "Close" I end up back up at the sign in screen and have to enter my username/password again.
If I click "Learn More", my only other choice, I end up on some sort of help page that tells me how to set up iCloud on this device. Which is precisely what I don't want to do. I just want to access a webmail page like, for example, gmail.
I don't see any "Mail" icon there.

iCloud account not necessarily needs to be an Apple ID. Make sure, if you have both, to you enter the correct one.

Your email on the i pad wilL not come from the pc, but from your mail provider. In settings, set up your mail account, and you should get the same mail there that you get on your pc.
If there are already messages on your pc that you want on your pad, from your pc mail them to yourself again

I currently use a virtual exchange server (2010) in conjunction with outlook 2007. I have several distribution groups set up so I can send from different email addresses through a single exchange server mailbox. This works fine on windows pcs. Unfortunately
I have not found a way of accessing this full exchange functionality on either my android phone or my iPad. Neither the stock mail apps nor any third party mail apps I have tried support the use of distribution group From fields. Worse, the Outlook Web App
that is fully featured on my windows pcs (where I don't need it) for some reason becomes a light version when accessed on an iPad air or android phone. The light version does not support From fields at all, whether distribution group based or not. I have tried
using safari and dolphin and OWA always defaults to and won't let me change from the feature crippled light version.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can access Exchange's changeable From fields on iPad or Android phone?

I found a solution eventually but it is not very elegant. You need to use an iPad web browser that can fool the Exchange server's web interface into believing it is a desktop browser not a tablet browser! Unticking the "use light version" checkbox
does not work on Safari and all other mainstream browsers I have tried despite what Microsoft claims on its help pages - it will always force the reduced features version on you. There are a few iPad browsers that allow you to select desktop emulation. I use
one with the bizarre name of KissMyAgent and in desktop mode I can load the full version of OWA although it is not a smooth user experience.
As for dedicated mail apps, I looked at all the free ones and they didn't as at Feb 2014 and also emailed all the developers of the premium ones and they all confirmed they didn't either. If anyone knows of any dedicated mail apps that support the full Exchange
features (see my OP), please let us know!

I hope this is not possible but its better idea MSFT consider using GPO time base

Need to access existing saved emails from new download of Thunderbird within Win 7

I'm an existing user of Thunderbird.
My computer has just been upgraded from XP to Win7
Thunderbird downloaded just fine and is all set up - recognises my email address, IP etc.
Now need to import all my old emails, carefully saved to another directory.
All your articles seem to refer to migration from another product - I simply want to access my existing Thunderbird files, if necessary copying them to the correct directory OR causing Thunderbird to find and then store them where they are.
I'm sure it will be very simple!

Thanks for this Matt. Hindsight is wonderful. I have fixed the problem but not in the ways you suggest. I'll detail them here in case it helps others. First, I keep all the data safe - so I had all my emails, but couldn't get Thunderbird to look at them. So it wasn't a question of importing, rather of finding a way to point Thunderbird to the correct location. Second, I use MozBackup and when I tried to get things back that way, I did get email addresses, and all my directory headings but no content. So I thought at that point that I was on the right track. Eventually I found that my data was not simply in a directory called....\mail, as I thought, but within that under ....\mail\Local Folders. Simple, in retrospect.
I do recommend MozBackup for both Firefox and Thunderbird.
But I appreciate your efforts to help.

Selecting iOS 7 Exchange emails from Notification Center does not take you to email

When I click on an email in Notification Center, and that email is from Lotus Traveler (which is actually an Exchange acct in iOS7), this is what I get. No other Exchange accounts do this, and this used to work in iOS6.
If I select Back and go into the Inbox, the message is there.

I have the same problem. The workaround until this bug is solved: "double-type" the password, so every letter/number twice, quickly and then the 'done' button twice as well. It takes a bit of practice, but it works for now…
