Accessing BI graph bean from JDeveloper/JClient

We've been trying to work with the graph bean from JClient from within JDeveloper. (The "Panel with Graph" option in File/new/Client tier/Swing/JClient for BC4j)
It looks like there is nothing in place beyond the simple graph wizard. Documentation is superficial. We can't even get axis labels to show.
The question is: where can reasonable documentation be found and if it does not exist, is it safe to use this charting product at all?

I am not sure what the BC4J team exposed for Help in the release you are using. For 9.0.5 the Graph integration has been greatly improved. You may want to post this message in the JDeveloper or BC4J forums so someone on their team can better assist you.

  • Access of JSF Beans from Servlet Filter

    Is there any way how can I access session JSF beans from servlet filter?
    I need to check certain value of JSF bean stored in session scope in my filter.
    Thanks
    ferdo

    Frank,
    I am not sure about phase listener, this is the whole situation:
    as I am not using Container Managed Security with my JSF, after I do sucessfull login into application, I need to store some information into the session scope (user etc) and in the servlet filter I need to find out if the user is connected.
    I was trying to put such info into Servlet Session directly in my bean via External Context and reading the info in Filter.
    This is working fine when my application is running locally (jdev oc4j) but once deployed into Application server, when user login first time, user information is somehow removed from the session, and cannot figure out why.
    So I was thinking to try another approach, to find out from servlet filter if JSF bean value is set or not.
    Any other suggestions? Do not want to swicth to Container Manages Security now.

  • Library Access to Unix files from JDeveloper on Windows...

    Hi,
    I'm running JDeveloper on a windows machine. Currently, we have a library pointing to a windows server, which contains our $JAVA_TOP directory. Is there a way to point a library to $JAVA_TOP on Unix from Windows?

    Hi,
    no, its a different server and OS. Maybe if you have a softwar that makes the Unix server show as a Windows directory - not sure this exist though

  • JNDI Naming Problem accessing Session Bean from Message Driven Bean

    Hi,
         I am facing a very strange problem in JNDI look up accessing a Session Bean from a Message Driven Bean. I have a session faade bean(Remote Bean) which is being called from Struts Action class getting the home reference from the ServiceLocator (I have implemented ServiceLocator pattern to obtain JNDI reference for all EJBs). When I am calling the session faade EJB from the Struts Action class everything is working fine.
         But when I am trying to call the same EJB from my Message Driven Bean, I am getting a JNDI exception (NameNotFoundException - No Object bound to name java:comp/env/ejb/EJBJNDIName). I am trying to get the remote reference from the same ServiceLocator which is successfully providing me a reference while calling from the struts action class. But the same ServiceLocator is not able to provide me a reference while calling from the Message Driven Bean. If I use the JNDI name directly like EJBJNDIName in the lookup it is working fine. The lookup for the name is working fine and I am able to call the Session Faade bean with that reference.
         I am really not sure what exactly the problem is. If I have any problem in the ServiceLocator, it should have given me the same error while calling from Struts Action class. But it is working fine with the full name java:comp/env/ejb/EJBJNDIName calling from the struts action class. I am not sure whether Message Driven Bean has something to do with it. Why I am not able to get a reference of the EJB with the full name? Please Help.
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi Bhagya,
    Thanks for your response. I think from EJB container we can call Local EJBs with the full JNDI name. The session facade bean which is being called is a remote bean. From the session facade bean I am calling a local stateless session bean for database access. I am getting the reference of the local EJB from my session facade bean with full JNDI name "java:comp/env/ejb/EJBJNDIName". It is working fine with out any problem. My servicelocator is able to provide me the reference of the local EJB from the session facade remote bean with Full JNDI name. I am only having this problem calling from the MDB. I am really not sure whether what is causing it?
    Thanks

  • Lookup of CMP Bean from client

    After Deploying the CMP Bean from jdeveloper, the client is unable to lookup the Bean using the JNDI name. It gives unknown URL. All the libraries are added to the client.

    Hi Zoongu,
    Please look into the server.log for the actual exception message (and the stack trace).
    You can call a CMP from a remote application client, but keep in mind that each and every method invocation will happen in a new transaction (there is no transaction
    propagation between an app client and a server). It's a much better practice to access
    a Session bean from the client (once) to perform all operations in the same transaction.

  • How to use the same bean from Jsp and Servlet

    I want to use the same bean instance from both the servlet and jsp.
    for eg. if a create a bean using the jsp:useBean in servlet and if a modify some values, that values should be reflected while i access the same bean from the servlet. But instead of that the servlet is creating a new instance of the bean.
    is it possible?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    When you call jsp:useBean you inform a scope (session, request, page...)
    This means the bean instance will be stored in that scope.
    So, if the informed scope is session, then, in the servlet you could get the bean instance back from the session, this way:
    HttpSession session = request.getSession();
    Bean b = (Bean) session.getAttribute("bean_id");

  • Accessing the same stateful session bean from multiple clients in a clustered environment

    I am trying to access the same stateful session bean from multiple
              clients. I also want this bean to have failover support so we want to
              deploy it in a cluster. The following description is how we have tried
              to solve this problem, but it does not seem to be working. Any
              insight would be greatly appreciated!
              I have set up a cluster of three servers. I deployed a stateful
              session bean with in memory replication across the cluster. A client
              obtains a reference to an instance of one of these beans to handle a
              request. Subsequent requests will have to use the same bean and could
              come from various clients. So after using the bean the first client
              stores the handle to the bean (actually the replica aware stub) to be
              used by other clients to be able to obtain the bean. When another
              client retrieves the handle gets the replica aware stub and makes a
              call to the bean the request seems to unpredictably go to any of the
              three servers rather than the primary server hosting that bean. If the
              call goes to the primary server everything seems to work fine the
              session data is available and it gets backed up on the secondary
              server. If it happens to go to the secondary server a bean that has
              the correct session data services the request but gives the error
              <Failed to update the secondary copy of a stateful session bean from
              home:ejb20-statefulSession-TraderHome>. Then any subsequent requests
              to the primary server will not reflect changes made on the secondary
              and vice versa. If the request happens to go to the third server that
              is not hosting an instance of that bean then the client receives an
              error that the bean was not available. From my understanding I thought
              the replica aware stub would know which server is the primary host for
              that bean and send the request there.
              Thanks in advance,
              Justin

              If 'allow-concurrent-call' does exactly what you need, then you don't have a problem,
              do you?
              Except of course if you switch ejb containers. Oh well.

  • Problems accessing fields in a CMP entity bean from a session bean

    Hello everybody,
    I'm getting the next problem: when I try to access a field in a CMP entity bean that I have instantiated from a session bean (trhoug entitybean.getNameOfField), I get the error "the entity bean does not exist in the database".
    This entity bean is accessing a table in an external database (not the DB of the WAS), but I know that it's getting the correct data from the table, since  I check the entitybean.size() and the entitybean.findByPrimaryKey(), and I get the right information. For some reason, the only thing that it doesn't work in the entity bean are the getter/setter methods (I created them automatically after having created the entity fields).
    I access the entity bean through its local interface...
    I know it's really difficult to give an answer with so few details, but... does anybody think I forgot something important to configure??
    Thank very much in advance!!
    Isidro

    getter and setter methods for cmp-fields are abstract.

  • Problems accessing ejb 3.0 entity bean from project

    I have written some code using ejb 3.0 and was previously accessing the entity bean without problem when both ejbs and the accessing code were in the same project. However I have moved the accessing code into a different project within the same application and now when the code tries to accessing the entity bean I get the following error:

    Now, of course I could move the code back into the same project, but as I understand it that is just the point of ejbs. I'm looking up the entity bean thus:
    final Context context = InitialContext();
    ingestionSessionEJB =
    (IngestionSessionEJB)context.lookup("IngestionSessionEJB");
    It may be true that I don't understand the way lookup works, but to be honest I can't find the docs that explain what I've got wrong.
    Please help.

    hi
    Double Click on the project which is goin to use the project which contains bean from the Application Navigator window. The project properties window will open. Choose the "Dependencies" item from left panel. click on the radio "User Project Settings" and select another project which contain ejb which you're goin to access...

  • How to send message to MessageDrivenBean from Session bean in JDeveloper

    I am trying to do these steps

    Implementation
    ===============
    In client class:
    I am getting session bean like
    Properties props = System.getProperties();
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY , "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL , "admin" );
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"welcome");
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.PROVIDER_URL ,"ormi://localhost:23891/current-workspace-app");
    Context ctx = new InitialContext(props);
    MySessionHome home = (MySessionHome)
              javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(obj, MySessionHome.class);
    This part works fine, and I am calling method on session bean created out of home.
    In Session bean:
    I want to get TopicConnectionFactory and tried these two ways:
    a)
    getting the context by setting new environemnt values like
    Properties props = System.getProperties();
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY , "com.evermind.server.jms.EvermindConnectionFactory");
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL , "admin" );
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"welcome");
    props.put( javax.naming.Context.PROVIDER_URL ,"ormi://localhost:9227/current-workspace-app");
    Context ctx = new InitialContext( props);
    When I try this,it is complaining that it cannot instantiate EvermindConnectionFactory.
    I am not sure which factory class we have to use here.i tried all the Factory class in that package.but didn't worked.
    next I used,
    b)
    tried to use default context in session bean to get MDB factory
    String TOPIC_NAME="jms/theTopic";
    String TOPIC_CONNECTION_FACTORY="jms/theTopicConnectionFactory";
    TopicConnectionFactory connectionFactory = (TopicConnectionFactory)new InitialContext().lookup("java:comp/env/" + TOPIC_CONNECTION_FACTORY);
    this gives
    04/06/13 23:46:09 javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: jms/theTopicConnectionFactory not found in MySession
    04/06/13 23:46:09      at com.oracle.naming.J2EEContext.getSubContext(J2EEContext.java:93)
    this may be because JMS server runs on different port than other EJBs and have different namespaces.
    Can any body give info,how we can make use of Message Driven bean from a Session Bean or from a JSP page or from a simple class inside JDeveloper.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    There are some hints in this forum for how to do this.
    I put together and make it working.
    This example creates an MD Bean and have a simple message and a client class send messages to that bean.
    Steps
    =====
    1)
    a)in {JDev Home}\jdev\system9.0.5.2.1618\oc4j-config\jms.xml
         <topic name="Demo Topic" location="jms/demoTopic">
              <description>A dummy topic</description>
         </topic>
         <topic-connection-factory name="Demo Topic Connection Factory" location="jms/theTopicConnectionFactory">
              <description>A dummy topic connection factory</description>
         </topic-connection-factory>
    b) in current project in orion-ejb-jar.xml
    go to orion-ejb-jar properties and add these values there to MDB node
    destination-location=jms/demoTopic
    connection-factory-location=jms/theTopicConnectionFactory
    2) create a dummy session bean and a dummy client for that session bean
    This sets default configuration for the client application we write
    doing so we do not need to set properties to get Initial context.It makes use of
    {JDev Home}\jdev\system9.0.5.2.1618\oc4j-config\.client\jndi.properties
    We can directly get Contexxt ctx = new InitialContext();
    3) Create MDB and put this sample code in method
    onMessage()
    TextMessage tm = (TextMessage) msg;
    try {
    String text = tm.getText();
    System.err.println("Received new message : " + text);
    catch(JMSException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    4) go to properties for the MDB and set Destination to Topic
    5) write Client code
    Context ctx =new InitialContext();

  • Accessing a JSF element from a back bean method

    Hi,
    short question, can I access the JSF element from a back bean method?
    So, for example, if I have the following JSF code:
    <h:panelGroup id="test1" rendered="#{bean.someMethod}">...</h:panelGroup>
    <h:panelGroup id="test2" rendered="#{bean.someMethod}">...</h:panelGroup>
    <h:panelGroup id="test3" rendered="#{bean.someMethod}">...</h:panelGroup>
    Can I found out in some way, which element (esp. which ID) calls the someMethod-method?
    Kind regards
    Matthias

    There are more possibilities as well. If you depend it on for example the User's rights/groups, then you can also do for example:
    rendered="#{user.admin}" // getter = public boolean isAdmin()
    rendered="#{user.groupName == 'admin'}" // getter = public String getGroupName()
    rendered="#{user.groupId > 1}" // getter = public int getGroupId()
    rendered="#{fn:contains(user.groups, 'admin')}" // getter = public String[] getGroups() or public List<String> getGroups()
    etc..I think it's after all just a matter of learning about the capabilities of EL a bit more.

  • Accessing Oracle Objects from JDeveloper

    Hi,
    I am trying to access Oracle PL/SQL packages from JDeveloper.I created a package that contains a procedure which accepts 2 IN parameters and returns 3 OUT parameters ( cursor,string,string).Through the JPulisher wizard i selected the package and i click the Generate Java code.But it actually creates .sqlj file it didn't create java file.
    1.Is there anyway for creating java file instead of .sqlj file?
    2. If not possible can anyone tell how can i access this .sqlj file for passing parameters from my jsp page.
    Thanks
    Srik

    A SQLJ file can be compiled into a classfile. JDeveloper will automatically convert the .sqlj file into a .java file, and then compile it into a .class file. If you choose to deploy the project to a webserver or whatever, the compilation will take place before the classes are added to the WAR file.
    The reason that JPublisher creates SQLJ files is that SQLJ files are easier to work with from the standpoint of SQL - the database access is done through SQL-like statements, and not raw Java.
