  • Access MS Access database on remote computer (shared folder)

    Hello,
    I need some help.
    I've made a program and it works fine on my computer, but multiple users will be using program simultaneously, each one on his own computer conected over local network to mine computer (database is on my computer in shared folder).
    When I try to access data on database (path is path of shared folder) i'm getting error 5013 (no database). The problem occurs only when I'm trying to read something from MS access database but not if I try to read data from .txt file, then it works fine...
    I'm using ADO Tools
    Can someone help me, I would be very greatful?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks to you Dennis I've managed to figure it out.
    I'll explain this for future generations
    1) I've created DSN. To do that open ODBC Data Source Administrator:
    - for 64 bit app C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
    - for 32 bit app C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
     In System DSN tab click Add.. then choose Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) (If you do not have this on list download that drivers from web) --> FINISH.
    Enter Data Source Name (mine is Test2) --> Select... --> now because the MS Access database is on shared folder on remote PC go to Network... --> Browse... and select that shared folder --> Finish. Now you'll see all .mdb files on that folder and you choose your database --> OK --> OK --> OK
    2) Now in block diagram you connect string "DSN=your_dsn_name;" (mine was Test2) to ConnectionString connector of ADO Connection Open.vi
    It worked for me.

  • How to set sourceURL for MS Access database in other computer?

    How to set sourceURL for MS Access database in other computer?
    getConnection("jdbc:odbc://www.micrsoft.com:9999/msaccess");
    How do you determine the port for the MS Access?
    Thank you very much.

    How to set sourceURL for MS Access database in other computer?You don't.
    How do you determine the port for the MS Access?You don't.
    Databases like Oracle and MS SQL Server have 'server' software which runs on a server computer. Requests talk to that server software. MS Access does not have a server, so there is nothing to talk to.
    You either must use a DSN or create you own server. For the DSN each client must have a mapped driver to the computer with the database. For your own server search the Sun site for JDBC drivers or use RmiJdbc (http://www.objectweb.org/)

  • Can I control a computer through a phone line instead of the internet?

    I have used a program called procontrol in the past which allows me to adjust sensor set points and get readings over a phone modem. How can I adapt this to labview. I am currently using logmein to control the computer, but the cost for internet is more than phone.

    How much control do you need?  If you simply want to transfer a file every once in a while it shouldn't be too difficult, but if you want to see a front panel and set values on it then it would be a lot of work.  For file transfer, there's an example of using a modem to communicate with a Fieldpoint unit that you could adapt to run on a computer.

  • Time capsule functionality through a wireless connection (Airport Express)

    Hi all,
    I've searched through quite some topics though i did nog find an answer to this probably easy question. Either it was to technical for me or i just did'n look that good...
    Can i connect a time capsule through an existing wireless network (newly bought airport express) and use all functionality from the TC? For example the dual network possibility. (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), connecting the TC to a printer via USB, connecting desktop computer through an ethernet connection. etc, etc,
    So the set up would be the following:
    1. Airport express downstairs connected to the modem from the internet provider
    2. Upstairs 2nd floor, TC wireless connected to the airport express.
    Hope you can help!
    grt Walter, (from the netherlands)

    Your express is a G wireless model and not compatible with the N wireless TC.
    You can use it but only by using it with ethernet and setting it up as AP.. you also need to use 5.6 utility not v6.. apple removed support for G wireless devices from v6.
    LOL..
    I was 2min late.

    For gmail you could try unlocking your account here: https://accounts.google.com/b/0/DisplayUnlockCaptcha.  Don't know about hotmail.

    For installing JSTL, all you need are the jar files in the web-inf/lib directory.
    - No entries in web.xml
    - no tld files lying around
    - no problems!
    I think you may have a versioning problem here.
    What version of Tomcat are you using?
    With JSP1.2 (eg Tomcat 4), you should be using JSTL1.0. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    With JSP2.0 (eg Tomcat 5), you should use JSTL1.1. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    Note the difference in the URIs. - the second one includes a /jsp
    Currently you are using the URI for JSTL1.0, but you look to have the tld from JSTL1.1. If you are using a JSP1.2 container, I don't think it could read this tld file, hence the error.
    Try installing the correct version of JSTL, properly (ie as they tell you in the readme file) and it should all work.

  • How do i get my library from my phone to my new computer? I no longer have access to the old computer. When I try to sync it says it will erase everythiong from my phone.

    How do I get my library from my phone to my new computer? I no longer have access to the old computer and when I try to sync my music, it says it will erase everything on my phone. My itunes library is not showing up when I sign into the new computer. Its not even showing any downloads.

    The iphone is not a backup/storage device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which you sync.
    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
    If for some reason you have failed to backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone:  File>Transfer Purchases.

    I bought songs on itunes through my iphone not too long ago. When I went to plug my iphone into my computer to sync, itunes asked me to restore my phone. I backed my phone up, but now i cannot find the songs i purchased through my phone. I've looked for the songs in the itunes store, but it said that i had not purchased any of the songs.How do i get back the songs?

    There is a backup plan after doing the Restore.  Read this.

  • Problems inputing data through JOptionpane to a Access Database

    I am kinda stuck at how to input a new order through JOptionpane's that adds new information into a MS Access Database. I have been fine with coding to get an order through a search JOptionpane as shown below:
    if (e.getSource() == btnCheckOrder)
    String strInput=JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Enter an order number");
    LinkedList Orders = Xenon.findOrders((long)Integer.parseInt(strInput));
    if(Orders==null)
    txtDisplay.setText("No Results Found! Please Try Again!");
    else
    txtDisplay.setText(Orders.toString());
    Any help or advice on how to solve this problem would be great, as im at my wits end.

    So far i have came up with this in my GUI class:
    if (e.getSource()== btnAddOrder)
    String Orders = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(this,"Order Number", "New Order Number",JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
    if (Orders == null)
    return;
    String strInput = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Customer Number", "Enter Customer Number");
    long CustNum = 0;
    strInput = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Part Number", "Enter Part Number");
    long part_Num = 0;
         strInput = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Number Ordered", "Enter Number Ordered");
    long Num_Ordered = 0;
         strInput = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Quoted Price", "Enter Quoted Price");
    double Quoted_Price = 0;
         strInput = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Order Date", "New Order Date");
    long OrderDate = 0;
         strInput = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Rep Number", "Enter Rep Number");
    long repNum = 0;
    confirmDialog = new JDialog((Frame) null,"Dialog",true);
    Container dialogContentPane = confirmDialog.getContentPane();
    dialogContentPane.setLayout(new FlowLayout());
    JButton okButton = new JButton("OK");
    okButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e ){confirmDialog.dispose();}
    dialogContentPane.add(new JLabel("Confirm New Order"));
    dialogContentPane.add(okButton);
    confirmDialog.setBounds(150,150,150,120);
    confirmDialog.show();
    This seems to work but doesnt add the data i input into the database.

    I recently downloaded the 5.1.1 and all of a sudden the contact icon has disappeared. I can still access my contact list through the phone icon, but I want the contact icon back. How can I reinstall it?

    You can't delete it.  Look on all your screens and inside all your folders.  If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.  This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.

  • Caonnecting ms access database through tomcat5.5 query

    Hi,
    I have installed tomcat5.5 and jdk1.6 on my machine which has Windows server2003 as OS.
    I'm not able to clearly underdstand the steps in tomcat docs for connecting to database and the changes to be made in different files.
    Can someone tell me detailed and clear steps for connecting to an ms access database through jsp?
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    I'm not exactly sure why you have this problem. I know that the Microsoft SQL Server driver has a parameter "readOnly=false". Check your DB2 docs to see if you need to set a flag like that, too.
    Maybe it has to do with transactions and auto commit. See if DB2 assumes autoCommit true or false. Maybe you have to explicitly commit your INSERT.
    Maybe you're writing to one database and opening another. Make sure that's correct.
    There are other suggestions that I'll offer.
    You do all that work with a database in a constructor? Bad idea.
    You've got database and UI stuff all mingled together. Ever heard of MVC separation?
    Be object-oriented - start by designing an object to encapsulate all those items you're trying to INSERT.
    Then write a Data Access Object (DAO) that does CRUD operations for that object. Test these thoroughly, preferrably with JUnit, until they're 100% perfect.
    Then have a separate UI that instantiates these objects and calls their methods. The persistence layer shouldn't know about UI stuff, and the UI shouldn't need to have any persistence code in it.
