Accessing EJBs as COM objects.

Hi,
I want to access deployed EJBs from Visual Basic.
I've used Sun's COM-CAS bridge inside a VB application to access EJBs deployed in their J2EE server and it worked OK.
How do I do the same thing with EJBs in Oracle8i (8.1.5)?
Does Oracle provide a similar package to Sun's COM-CAS bridge?
Do I deploy to OAS instead of Oracle8i to achieve what I want to do?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

  • Using as a COM-object

    Hello gurus,
    Is it possible to use Adobe Indesign as a COM-object? Can I do it remotely?
    Will it be okay or should i buy Adobe Indesign Server for these purposes?
    Thank you.
    p.s. I'm developing a small webapp and i want to use Indesign.

    (I've moved this thread to the InDesign Scripting forum).
    Technically, yes, you can access InDesign as COM object.
    The documentation Adobe provides is for VBscript, though you can use other COM languages.
    I don't know about remotely.
    Is it OK? Well, probably not. Read the EULA carefully, but controlling InDesign via a web application would appear to violate the terms of use. Check with your counsel.

    You can use Call Library Function node to call that dll file and use it in LabVIEW. Read the help and you will get more details.

  • Type casting for properties accessed in COM Object

    I have a com object that I need to access which provides my a
    list of addresses in an Array. The object give me a property that
    has a count for the number of addresses and then I have a loop that
    calls the property which contains the address details to get each
    individual address each time passing to the property the INDEX
    value on the loop.
    This errors out each time.
    The error I get is
    Error casting an object of type to an incompatible type.
    This usually indicates a programming error in Java, although it
    could also mean you have tried to use a foreign object in a
    different way than it was designed.
    It appears the the variable type of the index is not
    compatible with the property of the component(which is an int).
    IS there some way to type cast the variable used as the index
    for CFLOOP to that of an INT?

    You can try to use the JavaCast("int", myValue) function. It
    works great for Java objects, but I'm not sure how well it will
    work for COM. Worth a try, I guess.
    In your case it would be something like:
    <cfobject type="COM" context="INPROC" action="create"
    name="MR" class="DLLNAME">
    <cfloop from="1" to="#AddressCount#" index="i">
    <cfset VDname = mr.vdsname(JavaCast("int", i))>
    <cfset VDaddress = mr.vdsaddress(JavaCast("int", i))#>
    <cfset VDXML = mr.VDSXML(JavaCast("int", i))>
    </cfloop>

    I got the same problem.
    Some posts here suggest you should put weblogic.jar under /common/lib,
    I tried it but it didn't work. I also tried to put it under
    webapps/yourweb/web-inf/lib
    but it didn't work too. At last I had to unpack the weblogic.jar and put
    them under
    webapps/yourweb/web-inf/classes. This at least solved the problem you
    mentioned.
    I got other problem like ClassCastException that might be due to my own
    code.
    Anyway you can try the above approach. And please post your results here
    just let
    others know.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Plugin not able to access COM object in Protected mode

    We have an adobe plugin for our application. The plugin creates a toolbar button in Adobe and on clicking this button, it invokes one of the form from our application to save the document record for the PDF file in the database. The plugin was working fine till Adobe 9. It stopped working in Adobe X with proctected mode ON. However, if we turn off Protected mdoe, it works fine.
    I did some research and found that we need to modify the policy rules by creating ProtectedModeWhitelistConfig.txt file and appropriate registry for it. I did those steps and now I am not getting "Access denied" error when protected mode is ON but the plugin is still not working. On further debug, I found that it fails while trying to connect to SQL Server. It gives error "SSL Security Error". This is working perfectly fine without protected mode. Also It is not able to access COM objects. I guess both these things might be related.
    Can anyone let me know what are we missing here?

    I would recommend that open a formal support case, as working with Protected Mode is quite complex.

  • Accessing COM Objects provided by an EXE server

    Hello,
    I need to control an application through COM. I did this before with Excel and other software and used LabView's ActiveX functions.
    But this time I can't find the object I need when I browse the type library.
    The COM server actually is registered. But it's an "EXE Server" (I used "COM Explorer" to browse all registered COM objects - and the one I need is listed under EXE Servers).
    Is there any possibility to gain access to this interface?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    there is not really a difference between ActiveX object and COM object.
    All COM objects (ActiveX objects) should be accessible.
    If you can't see the object, but you know that you had register it, there are only two possibilities:
    1) Something is wrong with the object -> it is not really standard
    2) You can try to browse manually to the object.
    Use the "Browse" Button (see Browse.jpg) and select the object manually.
    If that doesn't work, there must be something wrong with the object.

  • Invoking COM objects from Weblogic EJB

    Hi,
    I am searching the BEA site on how best to call COM objects from
    a EJB deployed in Weblogic. I find rmi over iiop, articles on ObjectBridge
    which are confusing. Is there a sample where a COM method is called

    Thanks,

    http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/examples/com/examples.com.ServerSideDLLClient.html
    This shows use the WebLogic COM compiler to generate and RMI wrapper
    around a COM DLL and invoking it remotely. Unfortunately, the example
    appears to be a little out-of-date (e.g., it is using the old RMI Naming

    Be forewarned, WebLogic COM is not supported in WebLogic 6.0 (due to the
    inavailability of a Microsoft 1.3 JVM implementation).

  • COM Object gets Message stating it cannot access the server.

    I support an Application that would call Outlook to send an e-mail, it uses a COM object to do so, I have a client that has Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2010, trying to send an SMS to a Cell phone, in the form of [PHONE_NUMBER]@vtext.com (Verizon SMS), gets
    a message stating that the server cannot be reached (Retry/Work Offline / Cancel), If I select Retry, nothing happens, if I select Work Offline, it will take it to OUTBOX but will not send it, unless outlook is closed and then re-opened. However, if I add
    a CC email address, the CC'd email will be sent right away once the message is put on the outbox, but the original phone_number email will stay in the outbox.
    Haven't seen that specific behavior before.
    Any light would be greatly appreciated.

    Sending an Email/SMS is a small feature that was added to the application to make it easier for our clients to communicate the Service Calls to the technicians, send Reports, and/or send Invoices/Quotes to their clients.
    That being said, the Application was working fine with Previous Outlook Versions up to 2010 (though not quite sure what changes were done by the Patches, it has stopped on some of the 2010 versions (specially on 64-bit environment) Our developers purposely
    selected to call the COM object for the user/client to have full control of the communication (client still needs to click the "ALLOW" Button to allow the email to be sent.
    Application is not a plug-in (Add-in) to Outlook, but rather a Full "Service Company Suite" with Email capabilities. It was not Written in .NET or VS so using .NET Objects at the moment is not a choice, unless the developers create some soft of connector
    plugin to talk to Outlook.
    The Link provided really has nothing to do with the issue (the SMS is really sent as a regular Email)

  • Call MS com object via SOAP from WLS 6.1

    I generated a WSDL file for a Microsoft com object and can easily write a WL
    web service that calls it using Workshop 7.0. But I need to deploy it on a
    WLS 6.1 server. (I was hoping that Workshop would simply generate the source
    code required for accessing the com object via soap, which I could then cut
    and paste into my own source, but it doesn't do that.)
    Does anyone have an example of how to do this?

    Hi Mel,
    You said that you want to "deploy it on WLS 6.1", but I think what you really
    meant is that you want a J2EE component (i.e. JSP, Servlet, EJB, etc.) running
    in WLS 6.1 to consume the WSDL you created from the COM object, right?
    If so, the web services package in WLS 6.1 can be used to do this :-) If you tell
    me what type of J2EE component (i.e. JSP, Servlet, EJB, etc.) you want to be the
    client, I'll provide you with some sample code. Also, be sure you attach the WSDL
    that was generated, because WLS 6.1's WSDL processor isn't as complete as the
    one in WLS 7.0 and Workshop :-)

  • How to access EJB deployed in JBOSS 4 from Creator

    Hello.
    I am trying to access EJBs deployed on JBOSS in order to develop a web app client, when I import the EJB set from Creator (sessions and entities packages in a jar file) I got the following error message....."No EJB set found in file....." .
    I presume there is an kind of xml file description specific for Sun App Server missing. I would like to know if there is other way to expose EJB in creator?....maybe write a config file by hand.
    I already read the tutorials related to EJB but those only use pre build EJB jars for Sun App Sserver.
    Also I read all the posted about JBoos and EJB in this forum but those are pretty general.
    By the way I have Delegate classes to access the EJB. How do I register my delegates in Creator in order to expose their methods?
    Ill really appreciate some light in this matter.

  • ClassNotFound Exception accessing EJBs in a cluster

    I am experiencing some weird behavior when attempting to access EJBs in a
              Weblogic 5.1.0 cluster. The cluster nodes startup fine, and the EJBs are
              correctly deployed. However, when my test client attempts to access them I
              get the ClassNotFoundException listed below. This same client can access the
              same EJBs deployed in a non-clustered environment without any problems, so
              it's definitely related to my cluster configuration. The problem seems to be
              that the client is not receiving the client-side stub. To confim this, I put

  • Issue in accessing EJB from plain java

    Hi,
    I am new to OAS. I am using OAS 10.1.2.
    I want to access EJB which runs inside OAS, through a plain java program which runs from outside the OAS environment (standalone java program).
    I am confused on what to use. RMIInitialContextFactory or ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory for the context in the java program.
    what should be the provide URL ?
    java.naming.provider.url","ormi://hostname:18140/
    is it "ormi" or something else? what is the port number should i use. there are many ports in this OAS. i see that in the console("Ports") link.
    also let me know what should i mention in the EJB xml descriptor.
    Is this lookup to be done by retrieving from jndi?
    pls help.
    Thanks,
    Sukumar
    with this confusion i developed an EJB with the following details
    ejb-jar.xml
    <ejb-ref>
         <ejb-ref-name>ejb/testDetails</ejb-ref-name>
         <ejb-ref-type>Entity</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>com.xxx.xxx.testDetailsHome</home>
    <remote>com.xxx.xxx.testDetails</remote>
         </ejb-ref>
    orion-ejb-jar.xml
    <entity-deployment name="ejb/testDetails" location="ejb/testDetails"
    Client Java program
    public class testDetailsClient
    public static void main(String [] args)
    testDetailsClient testDetailsClient = new testDetailsClient();
    try
    Context context =getInitialContext();
    testDetailsHome testDetailsHome = (testDetailsHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(context.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/testDetails"), testDetailsHome.class);
    testDetails testDetails;
    catch(Throwable ex)
    ex.printStackTrace();
    private static Context getInitialContext() throws NamingException
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    //env.put("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory");
    env.put("java.naming.provider.url","ormi://host_name:18140/"); //23791 18140
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "ias_admin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "abc123");
    InitialContext context = new InitialContext(env);
    return context;
    if i execute this, it says
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: java:comp/env/ejb/testDetails not found
    18140 is Application Server Control RMI port.
    if i run the same code with ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory, it throws exception saying

    pls help

    Hi,
    you do not have to package your EJB and PAR together! You can deploy them separately and then reference the J2EE Application from your PAR or vice versa to access it.
    For instance you can access the EJB from your PAR as described here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/42/9ddf20bb211d72e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
    Or you can access a Portal application from J2EE like described here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/42/9ddd0cbb211d72e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
    Even if you package your PAR in to the same EAR with your EJB they will result in two different containers on the J2EE Engine and you will have to reference them as described in the link above to access the functionality of one component from the other.
    Best regards,
    Stefan Brauneis
