Accessing External App through SystemManager

Hi All
Using the example at
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/2/docs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDo cs_Parts&file=00000543.html
I was able to load one flex application into another application.
Nice and easy using the SystemManager to access the methods and
variables in the loaded application. That left me with:
- main.mxml (my main application); and
- local.mxml (the application I'm loading into main.mxml -
just contains a simple TitleWindow with a label that can be
manipulated by buttons clicked in main.mxml)
I then changed this slightly so that I could make use of the
PopUpManager. The reason I did this was so that I could load
local.mxml (or rather the compiled SWF file, local.swf) into a
TitleWindow CUSTOM COMPONENT and therefore allow users to move it
aroundf the screen like a normal windows app. (It's at this point
where you guys can start chipping in and telling me I'm doing it
all wrong!) This then left me with:
- main.mxml (containing PopUpManager to open
localWindow.mxml)
- localWindow.mxml (a TitleWindow component that uses
SWFLoader to load local.mxml into itself)
- local.mxml (the application I'm loading into
localWindow.mxml - just a white canvas with a label I want to
access from main.mxml)
Since local.mxml is just a canvas, when I load it into
localWindow.mxml (a TitleWindow custom component) it looks just the
same as the Adobe example but with the added benefit that the
window can be dragged around the screen.
However ....
My problem now is that I'm unsure how to access the methods
and variables in local.mxml from the main.mxml application. I
obviously still need to use SystemManager but I'm not sure how.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Cheers,
Kenny.

I have been having the same problem and this is what I came
up with...and it's not pretty. I would like to know the right way
to do this, but this worked:
Object(SystemManager(loader.content).application).doSomething();
I don't really understand this. I know eventually I type cast
to Object so that I can call any method I want. Without that I get
a "Call to possibly undefined method" error.
If I just do Object(loader.content).doSomething(); I get a
runtime error: " ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property doSomething
not found on _FlexApp_mx_managers_SystemManager and there is no
default value."
This all seems very convoluted and I'm sure I'm missing
something. Does anyone know the right way to handle this?

  • I can't accesses purchased apps through the App Store

    When ever I try to view my purchased apps through the App Store on my iPhone 4S running iOS 6 the App Store app crashes.

    Try this:
    1. Double click the home button to bring out the task switcher, then press and hold the Appstore app in the task switcher to get it to wiggle mode and then close it by clicking on the x.
    2. Go to settings, scroll down to iTunes & App Stores. Click your Apple ID: and in the popup window, click on "Sign Out". Then, sign in back again.
    3. Try to open your Appstore, then try to access the purchased app section.

  • Can portlets access external app login info?

    I need to write a portlet that uses the login information entered by users for external applications. The portlet will access the external application, but needs the login parameters that the user has supplied. Is this possible? If so, can anyone point me in the right direction to begin?
    Thanks--

    Corey,
    Two approaches:
    1) You can get the user's login name from the wwctx_api package, as described in the Portal Development Kit (PDK)). You will not be able to retrieve the user's password from the API, for obvious security reasons. The PDK has other useful APIs for both PL/SQL and Java - check it out.
    2) You can set up your external application as a partner application to the Login Server. Please see the Oracle Single Sign-On Application Developer's Guide for more information.

    hmm

              what happens if you try to access an image or something in your war (ie
              something not java related)
              also - i have seen on some machines that localhost doesnt work but 127.0.0.1
              does work
              your app should be trying to access index.jsp which should be in the root
              directory of your war
              does index.jsp exist and is it in the root directory of your war?
              lastly - i noticed you have a startup servlet. Put a system.out in the init
              method of the servlet. If the servlet is being deployed OK then you should
              see some output in the console

  • How do I access an app in the cloud

    How do you access an app through iCloud?

    The only apps that you can access in the cloud are contacts, reminders, notes, email, and the Apple Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps. You do this by logging into your iCloud.com account on a computer using a web browser.
    iCloud is not a storage drive in the cloud. iCloud is for backups of your devices. The way that you "access" an app in iCloud is to download it again in the purchased tab of the App Store.

    I am not able to access my photos through the photo application... when I click on the photo app, I can see the camera roll, but a transparent "album" screen is over it and I cannot click on the photos to see it... can any one please help ???

    Known bug.  Quit the Camera App, double-tap the home key and delete Camera from the recent apps bar. Fire it up again, should be good.

    the screen on my iPhone is frozen and I can access apps through Siri. The touch screen works within the apps but not in the home screen. What do I do?

    Have you tried a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release?

  • Why can't i access my Apps that I downloaded through iTunes. I believe I'm doing something wrong and not that the issue is iTunes itself

    Occasionally ill try downloading an App through my Macbook Pro 13.5 & it directs me to iTunes to be downloaded. So, I go to iTunes and download the App I need. For instance, Amazon. I go into 'My Apps' in iTunes and try clicking on one of my DL Apps, but nothing happens. Why can't I access the Apps, which I downloaded through iTunes.?I believe I'm doing something wrong and not that the issue is iTunes itself.  I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. I am due for an upgrade from that software and also an upgrade for iTunes as well, but that shouldn't be the problem. I've tried everything on my end to troubleshoot. I don't really have the time during the day to call in and troubleshoot, so thats why I'm asking the community. Please help with this problem if anyone can. Thank You!

    Once you download an iOS app, you cannot run that app from the computer. That can only be run from an iOS device. You cannot download Mac Apps from the iTunes App Store, those are downloaded from the Mac App Store. Two different places. If you want a Mac app that will run on your Mac, you need to download that from the Mac App Store. iTunes App Store only has iOS apps that work on iOS devices, iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

  • Data sync to external SQL from Access Web App

    Hi all
    Am I dreaming or does creating a table in an Access Web app based on an external SQL Azure database table (not the intrinsic one) end up being an import not a sync?  It doesn't even seem to update when i open the external table and refresh it?
    I am adding new records at the external SQL source and they are not updating in the table in the WebApp
    Is anyone having similar problems?
    Cheers
    Sally

    Hi Sally,
    >> I am adding new records at the external SQL source and they are not updating in the table in the WebApp
    Do you mean that you import a table from an external SQL Azure database into Access Web app, the data in Access Web app did not update after you change the an external SQL Azure database data? In my option, this is expected behavior if you are using import
    table. Importing from another database would not achieve that, and it only achieves copying data from another database. I am afraid that you could not achieve your requirement from Access Web app.
    As far as I know, the database of Access web app is Azure DB, I think you could sync the Access web app Azure DB and External Azure DB, you could refer the link below for more information.
    Reference:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/sql-database-get-started-sql-data-sync/
    I am not familiar with Azure DB, and if you have issues about Azure DB, I will recommend you go to the link below for help.

  • Sending spool pdf through XI to external app

    we are able to produce the .pdf locally from spool files with no problem.
    the problem occurs when we try to pass a pdf to XI for transmission to Filenet.
    the XI guys say they can't handle .pdf native format - we have to convert to string an encode in 64bit.
    so, we convert the pdf table (which is in TLINE format) to a string and run it through FM 'SCMS_BASE64_ENCODE_STR' to 64 bit encode it.
    this does allow us to pass the data stream to XI and XI sends to Filenet, however, the resulting document is not readable by Adobe Acrobat.
    has anyone been able to send pdf files through XI to an external app?
    thanks alot. points will be awarded.
    robert.

    thanks.. let me add a little more info..
    i'm an abapper. is there anything I can do without the aid of the XI team to get this to work?
    they already have a webservice in place that other non-SAP systems use to send their pdf files. The XI team wants us to use the same one.

    Each BOE document has a unique ID.  Knowing that will allow you to access it via a URL while passing required login credentials as well, if I recall correctly.  However, your very best bet is to review the SDK.

    Tap and hold the text you want to copy, then tap Copy.

  • Xcelsius SWF with QaaWS through SSL: Cannot access external data

    I am getting the following error while loading Xcelsius Dashboard in https mode.
    Error: Error #2170, Cannot Access External Data
    Connection Type: Query as a Web Service
    To access external data, add a cross-domain policy file to the external data web server.
    The same dashboard is working on the following conditions:
    1)     In http mode(both from a hosted website and from a clarity portlet)
    2)     When I click preview from Xcelsius designer.
    3)     When I run the .swf file directly.
    The error is coming only when I host the swf file into a website (or running from a clarity portlet).
    I am using the following cross-domain-policy file.
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
         <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all"/>
            <allow-http-request-headers-from domain="" headers="" secure="true" />
            <allow-access-from domain="*" secure="true" />

    Any comments will be appreciated here.

    Hi
    I am facing the #2032 Error while running the Dashboard in portal developed using SAP Netweaver BW connection.
    Scenario:
      1>Actually our dashboard changes as fiscal year or budget type changes,so we have set trigger for the queries.
      2>for 3-4 trigger times the dashboard changes as required without any error but after that when we change fiscal year or budget type it shows the following error:
    Error:"Cannot Access External Data"
    { The BICS Remote web Service could not process your request.Open a CSN message on component BW-BEX-ET-XC and attach the technical details of the error from the following link:
    http://sgsgsav0s2006:5000/bicsremotedebug?geterrorticket=KSF-1324043982210(this link changes each time the error pops up}
    This error will popup and then the dashboard randomly displays data for some queries and for some it does not pull data.
    After reloading the dashboard it runs fine for 3-4 times after that it again shows the error.This happens for 4-5 times then dashboard stucks at Initializing Screen for 10 mins then #2032 error comes.Then we restart our developement portal and the Dashboard runs fine for some time.
    This happens even while triggering 4 queries.
    We have

  • Call external application through Abap WD application

    Hello All,
    We are trying to call an external application using ABAP.  The details are as below
    1) SAP server on AIX OS
    2) External Apps server: Windows OS
    The external apps takes a file located on windows as input and generates a file on windows as output. The external appls is installed on the windows OS.
    We are unable to trigger the VC apps from ABAP.( AIX OS).
    Appreciate if you can guide and give some examples. Please note that the OS are different.
    Questions:
    1)  How to access windows file system to execute external appls from ABAP ( AIX)
    2)  Would a RFC be required to be made between ABAP and the windows server where external appls is hosted
    3) Any sample code/links is really help ful
    We were able to get it working when the applications was hosted on local file system ( desktop) . Two problems are getting the appls executed on remote and different OS accessing windows file system through unix ( AL11 should help here i guess)
