Match Records - Import manager

Dear Experts,
When there is a table with NO DATA init, the match records options work diffrently.
This could be because matching record allways tries to compare source with destination values.
As here the destination table is blank i guess this could be the reason i am not able to judge the outcome.
Lets say i have 3 fields.
name        dept   cost
adapter    IT        20
adapter    IT        20
when i try to import the above data..
matching fileds : name
active     match type      default import action
2 of 2        NONE                 CREATE
Now if i chk the DM i can see only 1 record.
Is this behaviour correct!!! please educate me if i am missing something.
I would like to know how matching records work on a empty table.
Kind Regards
Eva

Hi Eva,
if 2 fileds selected INDIVIDIALLY.
1st field values are duplicated and second field does not have duplicate.
all the records where 1st field duplicates are present ARE NOT IMPORTED.
Yes, your understanding is partial correct, i mean new record will not imported(gets created into MDM) but it can be imported with updated fields with conditions (Partial or conflict) only
Now, when i need to push some data to a table which has data already.
-> it first chks the Matching fields comparision 'within' source fields data first.
-> then it compares the result data and Destination data
See as suggested above, if you select matching field as single field or Multiple fields selection with combined option then it worka as single match for these records if it finds already existing match for the combination of these fields only in that case you will able to update else result in newly created records.
If you go mutliple fields selection with Individual Option, I mean you will able to create new record only if all of these records fields has distinct values e.g. Suppose
Existing record in MDM
Name dept rating
adapter elec 30
will create new record only if your source file has below record.
Name dept rating
adapter1 elec1 40
else if you have any of the record for which any of the fields has same value it will only update the records based on condition as below:
Exact. All the individual value matches are Equal. e.g. source file has values adapter elec 30
Partial. At least one value match is Equal and at least one Undefined;   e.g source file has values adapter 20
here one value is equal adapter, one value is not defined value for dept is null in your source file
Partial. At least one value match is Equal and no value matches are Not Equal e.g source values as adapter elec1 40
Conflict. At least one value match is Equal and at least one value match is Not Equal. e.g. Src value as adapter elec 40
@Sudhanshu, M i right or not. Your understanding is correct. Imported records would be only one of these 1 a d, 1 a z , 2 a b

  • Maximum Number Of Records Import Manager can handle.

    Hi Guys,
I want to know the maximum number of records Import Manager can import / handle at a time.
    Thanks in advance .
    Best Regards,
    Ramchandra Kalkar.

    Amol,
The reference guide lists the limit at 50,000 records.
My experience is that this is not necessarily the case. To me it seems as though the maximum import depends somewhat on the number of fields you are trying to import. Meaning you can probably import 50,000 records if the file only contains two columns/fields, but if the file contains many columns/fields you probably will encounter difficulty trying to import 50,000 records at a time.

  • Add button inactive in Match record step in Import manager

    Hello,
In the Main table, I want to see the country data as 'US; United States' in country field.
I have made both 'country code' and 'country description' as display fields in the country flat lookup table.
When I load country code and country description from import manager from an excel file, the 'Add' button in Match records step is inactive for both the fields.
How can I do the matching in import manager without sacrificing my requirement of showing country as 'US; United States' in main table ?
    Thanks,

answer to this question is already available in forum.

  • Matching records in Import Manager

    Dear experts,
I'm using SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 and I need to create different catalogs using the same records, distinguished only by some fields like Catalog name, Category and supplier.
But because Iu2019m using same product ID, when I try to import the new records I can only update or replace the fields, which was not the idea.
Does anyone know if this scenario is possible?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Andreia Nascimento

    Hi Andreia,
For importing new records with same Product ID. In Import Manager under Match Records tab Your Matching fields: should be combination of Product ID, Catalog Name, Category and Supplier rather than Product ID only. This will result in importing new records rather than update or replace the fields.

  • Import Manager - Match records clarification

    Hi
In the Import Manager, Match records I would like to have two different fields as match criteria, where I want to gave OR condition betweeen them, how do I achieve the same.
    quick response would be appreciated.
    thanks & regards
    Alexander

In the Import Manager under the tab "Match Records" all possible matching fields are listed in the "Mapped destination fields" box. With double click you can define them as matching fields, they show up then in the "Matching fields" box. An "OR" combination of fields exists, when each entry is displayed in a separate line, an "AND" combination of fields exists, when two entries are displayed in the same line. You can acchieve this by marking entries and pressing then the buttons "Combine" => two entries in one line or "SPlit" => each entry in one line.
After changing the entries, the matching is started again. In the matching results, you can see then, whether records have a 100% match (each of the selected fields) or a partial/conflict match. Partial and conflict matches mean, that at least one of the compared fields match.
This is described in detail in the Data Manager Guide.
    Hope, this helps, Klaus

    Hi,
i have got your Problem, you could come to know if you try this
Create an Excel file as below
    Category Type Attribute Value
    PC  Text  A  10
    PC  Text  B  11
    Now during import this Taxonomy:
First Map your Source Category Field with your Target Name Field when Select Categories as Destination Table
So in MDM Data Manager: when select Categories as destination Table you will GET PC as Value there.
Noe 2nd step Select Categories( Attributes) as your Destination Table here Map Source Attribute and Type Fields with corresponding Target Destination fields.
If you skip this 2nd step and just go for Saelcting Categories(Text Values) as your Destination table , the problem you describe is come into picture.coz that attributes are not available into MDM data Manager.thats why even for Update All Update Options it is showing 0 Record.
Hope it will clear your doubt,

  • Partial match for Value Mapping in Import Manager

    Hello Experts,
We have a import map which is used to do mass insert of data into the main table. This is done as & when required by the end user.
We have a qualified lookup field which has a flat lookup filed as the Non-Qualifier. This flat lookup field is refering to a Lookup Flat table, which has mulitple dispay fields like Code,Name, Status etc. (14 fields in total) where as only the Code is the unique field.
We have only the unique field in our source file which we use for the import. Since we have only a part of the display fields in the source, the automap functionality in the Value maping section doesn't work. It becomes very tedious for the user to manually map all the values for this field.
Is there any way by which we can convert the source or target values in the import map, so that we can map the values using the Automap feature?
Your help & suggestion for alternate approach is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Uday
P.S. We are using SAP MDM 5.5 SP6.

    Hi Uday,
No need to enable remote key mapping for QLT. Please execute the below steps(stated with an example) -
    1.  Among all the fields in the referenced lookup table, identify the lookup fields and the tables they are looking up .
For eg.If you have a lookup field as 'Country' as one of the fields, look up table will be 'Countries'
2.For the identified lookup tables, set 'key mapping =Yes' in Console.
For eg, For Country Lookup table ,set Key mapping to 'Yes'
3.Import values into Lookup table (Import manager)/ Remote key update -
In import manager, select source (local file) and destination as Countries flat table. This Table will be haing 2fields - Code and description.Clone the 'Code'field and map it to Remote key field in destination hierarchy.Map code and description to equivalent destination fields. Select 'Code' as matching field > Perform import into lookup table.
Check if the records in countries table are updated with remote keys(in Data manager> right click on a record> select 'Edit key mappings' > view key mapping for the record)
    3.Import to Qualified table/Auto value mapping -
Now, in the import map for qualified import , map the source field and destination field (of lookup type), all the values of this field will automatically map.
Similarly, refresh remote keys mappings for all the lookup tables first and then you can see auto mappings of values happening for the lookup fields.

  • Identifing duplicate master data records using the MDM Import Manager

    hi all
I read the Topis "How to identify duplicate master data records using the MDM Import Manager</b>"
i tried to create import maps and to set rules. but when i import them it creates the new vendor records for each rule with rest of the fields blank.
when i import vendor data all the three fields i.e Match rate , match type and match group are blank.
    My Question is :
I am getting vendor data from SAP R/3.
In which source (in lookup xml file or data xml file) do i have to include these above three fields and how all the rules will be reflected in repository?

    Hi Sheetal
      Here we go when do you Import any data (vendor master) please follow the following steps;
    1. First of all apply the map to the source data
    2. In the Match Record tab there are 3 possiblities
a.[Remote Key] : Checks the current source rec with
repository along with all the fields - This is
         default
b.Remove [Remote key] - by double click the same; and
choose any single fields like Vendor Number or
name - Then the current record will be matched
with the repository based on the field.
c.Instead of single field you can choose combination
         also.
    3. Based on the Match results, match class will be set
       automatically;
       a. None
       b. Single
       c. Multiple
    4. Then Match Type
a.Exact-All the individual value matches are Equal.
b.Partial-At least one value match is Equal and at least one Undefined; no value matches are Not Equal.
c.Conflict-At least one value match is Equal and at least one value match is Not Equal.
    5. then chek the Import status and Execute the import.
    Hope this helps you.
    cheers

  • How to add hyperlinks in Import Manager

    Dear MDM-gurus!
I really tried hard to find the solution, but couldn't find it here or in OSS.
We already have a repository with more than 50.000 items.
What I'd like to do is to add hyperlinks to PDF-files in the internet to each item.
For this we got an excel-file from the supplier with the supplier part number in one column, the PDF-link in another column and the .
In Data Manager I was able to add links manually or also with importing entries of the excel-file. Importing from excel takes a LOT of time. I don' t know why:
    -  Fields to import: Hyperlinks
    -  Key fields: Supplier part number.
--> Action: Update all single matches.
How can I import hyperlinks in Import Manager, make the mapping and then update the records faster? E.g. I could not find the field "URL <Hyperlink> [Qual]" in Import Manager
Thanks for your help and best regards,
    Henning

    Resolved!
I accidently oversaw the URL fields in Import Manager in table catalog items.

  • Blank Screen in Import Manager under Import Status Tab

    Hi Experts,
Problem: Blank Screen in Import Manager under Import Status Tab.
I have opened import manager with source file(excel & xml) and i have also did mapping from source fields to destination fields and also seleted display/key field in match records tab and refreshed it. when I select Import Status tab. I am not able to see any details/status regarding the map which i have done. when i click on excute button.. the source file is sucessfully import and pop up dailogue box shown. I have also checked in Data Manager and data was visible.
But.. at Import Status Tab in import manager.. i am not able to see any details.. it is just showing as white blank screen.
If any one know the solution could you please help me out.
    Thanks
    Bharat

    Hi Bharat,
As per New MDM Release we have to Install MDM 7.1 servers on 64 bit machine and GUI's can be installed on 32 machine, whreas if you are using MDM 5.5 Version then 32 bit machine can be used.
Now as you said that you have sucessfully imported the excel file and then you have mapped the filed after that without any error you got the ready to import screen to import the data into MDM database then processwise there is no problem as far as screens are concern i will suggest you please un-install MDM Import Manager GUI and then again install it, your problem would be solved.
If it doesnt please do let us know.

  • Set Key Field in Import Manager

    Hi All,
I have 2 fields in my source file(name, category) .category(look up Field) is the key field and name(display Field) is the matching field.
    I got file like this......
    Name                  category
    1                           A
    1                           B
    1                           C
While importing i got an error stating that Import failed. The destination record was referred to by multiple source records. Duplicate source records should be merged before importing them.
Import action: Update (All Mapped Fields)Source record no: 1
But in this case my key field is Category based on category  then these 3 records will be 3 different records.
Please let me know the  use of Set Key field in the Import Manager and how it works?

    Hi,
It's not about set of key field in MDM Import Manager but the reason is that you can not select more than 1 category(Lookup Taxonomy) in maintable for one record. thats why error is coming because for this Property Multi-valued always No.
Even, you can try this in Data Manager manually create three Category A, B and C in taxonomy mode on selecting Sub table Categories, then on selecting main table, when you select category field(which is lookup to categories table)for a particular record you could able to select only one category A, B or C.
i would suggest make a Attribute of type text having three values A, B and C and mark this as Multi-Valued in Attribute Detail and link this Attribute with your category. in this way you can attach three values A, B and C with your Record.
Other thing you can do,make this category field as (Lookup Hierarchy not lookup taxonomy) in main table to Subtable(Hierarchy) then for this field in main table you can set Property Multi-valued = Yes in MDM console and then after Import using MDM Import Manager finally only one record will get created in Data Manager as:
    Name Category
    1         A;B;C
    Hope it will Help you,

  • Reuse of MAP in Import Manager

I am trying to reuse a MAP created to load KNA1 table in Import Manager in the same server. The Source file name and file type (.xls) is the same, as well as the original worksheet name. While the Import Manager is matching records, it is abending w/ following msg - Error sig:
    AppName: importmanager.exe; Appver 1.0.0.1; ModName: importmanager.exe; ModVer: 1.0.0.1; Offset: 004e9c90
    Thanks

Sure, this is possible. Remember that map/syn files are useful when you know in advance nothing has changed, that is, when automating the process (via batch/server processing).
One example might be if MDM is expecting numeric value, whereas in the past you used a text value. You might not be changing the source data, but you have made the MDM Repository more restricted.
Perhaps you should review which changes have taken place, something might be escaping your sigh
    I hope this helps

  • What is meant by criteria of Updateability in MDM Import manager

    Hi,
What is meant by criteria of Updateability in MDM Import manager? i read some information, but i could understand, it says original data source be  updateble. what is meant by Original data source.?
what is the use of option "Read-only"  in Import manager logon screen.
    Thanks

    Hello Ankam,
You can check the Read-only option to prevent MDM from updating your data source.
Kindly see the below information on "DATA SOURCE UPDATES"
    DATA SOURCE UPDATES
Some MDM Import Manager operations require that the original data source be updateable, thereby allowing new fields and/or entire new tables u2013 and the corresponding data values for each record u2013 to be automatically added to the data source before further processing.
Other operations simply create virtual fields in the MDM Import Manageru2019s workspace, although if the data source happens to be updateable, some of these operations instead add the new fields to the original data source as well.
NOTE ►► Updating the data source when possible allows you to
perform additional operations on the new fields as if they were part of
the original source data, and also use them as record matching fields.
NOTE ►► Fields that are added only if the data source is updateable
can be deleted automatically by the MDM Import Manager when you
exit or switch data sources based on the setting of the Delete Created
    Fields on Exit configuration option.
    Updateable Data Sources
Whether or not a data source is updateable depends upon the following:
u2022 Source type. The source Type must permit the MDM Import Manager to update its schema and insert the additional fields of data; some supported types are updateable and some are not.
u2022 Media. The media on which the data source resides must itself be updateable. If the media on which the data source resides is readonly, such as a CD-ROM, the data source cannot be updated.
u2022 Permissions. You must have the proper file system permissions to update the file, or the proper DBMS permissions to update the schema of the database.
u2022 Read-only option. You cannot have checked the Read-Only option, which prevents MDM from updating the data source even if the other conditions would otherwise permit it.
NOTE ►► The Read-Only option is: (1) enabled for source types that
can be updated (Access, Oracle, SQL Server, and XML); (2) disabled
and unchecked for those that use Access as an updateable staging
area (Delimited Text and Fixed Text); and (3) disabled and checked for
those that cannot be updated (Excel and ODBC).
NOTE ►► When the data source is SQL Server, the table names in
the database must not contain spaces; otherwise any operation that
would update the data source will fail.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Vikas

  • Tuple Loads using Import Manager

Running on 7.1 SP05 using the SAP supplied Vendor Master repostory archive.
Attempting to load company code data in the Vendors main table.  Company Code Data is set-up as a tuple table in Console.
When defining the map in Import Manager it will only allow me to select Vendor Number as the matching field. And, as a result, it will not load all of the data in my load file - it loads the first value of Vendor Number and skips the other records where Vendor Number is duplicated. This makes sense; however, I need to be able to select both Vendor Number and Company Code as my matching fields when defining the map. These two fields are the unique identifier for the load file and all the data would be loaded correctly if I was able to select Company Code as well.
I read where you can set the tuple update option and I did this by adding Company Code, but for some reason, it is still only using Vendor Number as the matching field and not including Company Code with it.
Does anyone know how to get Company Code to appear in the "Mapped destination fields" so that I can match on both Vendor Number and Company Code?  Or do other options exist where I could accurately load the tuple table?

You match on the correct vendor in the Match Records tab.  This positions you at the correct vendor.
To match on the correct Company Code you use the update tuple option (as you have done).  The Company Code should be the only field that you use to match on the Company Code tuple.  So, when the incoming record has the same Company Code the tuple will get updated.  If the  incoming record has a different Company Code, then you can set the options to either create a new tuple or skip the input record.
You can not match on the Company Code in the Match Records tab.

Running on 7.1 SP05 using the SAP supplied Vendor Master repostory archive.
Attempting to load the Regions hierarchy table which contains three fields: Country (lookup flat), Region Code (text) and Region Name (text).  When defining the map in Import Manager it will only allow me to select Region Name as the matching field.  And, as a result, it will not load all of the data in my load file - it loads the first value of Region Name and skips the other records where Region Name is duplicated.  This makes sense; however, I need to be able to select both Region Name and Country as my matching fields when defining the map.  These two fields are the unique identifier for the load file and all the data would be loaded correctly if I was able to select Country as well.  I have tried making Country both a unique field and a display field in Console, but to no avail.
Does anyone know how to get Country to appear in the "Mapped destination fields" so that I can match on both Region Name and Country?

    Hi Reinhardt,
I think you can achieve it by setting country field also as Display field (DF) along with existing Region name (DF) in Regions Hierarchy Table of MDM console.
